I highly recommend Dr. Rubin and her staff. I'm new to the city and was looking for a new obgyn for my annual exam. The offices of Women's Health Consulting is convenient for me to access from work (in the Loop, across from Millennium Park), so I decided to give them a try. It was a bit of a wait to get an appointment with Dr. Rubin (about a month), but scheduling was relatively easy (tip: be sure to pick a date you're sure you can make because there's a $50 fee if you cancel the appointment). My appointment started on time (always a pleasant surprise!) and Dr. Rubin was particularly friendly and warm, making the entire experience very pleasant. I appreciate the fact she sits down with patients prior to the exam to learn about their history and any special concerns or needs they might want to address. Upon learning I am new to the city, she even took the time to personally recommend a primary physician and a dermatologist to me. Best of all, the exam itself was painless and very quick. Bonus points for a beautiful office and comfortable exam rooms. I will continue to see Dr. Rubin for as long as possible! read more

Allowed my medical records to be tampered with and claimed I was pregnant when I was not...

Dr. Rubin is so friendly, knowledgeable, and really takes the time to explain everything to you. I would highly highly recommend seeing her!

So great I almost forgot I was at the gyno. I didn't have a lady doctor in Chicago and picked Dr. Rubin based partially on the reviews here... and partially on the fact that she actually HAD a reputation on Yelp. She's totally legit--sweet, comfortable, witty (but not in the "my gyno is trying to crack jokes" way), and attentive. The pre-pap conversation was a real conversation; it was obvious through the whole thing that she actually cared about what was going on with me and wasn't just filling out a chart. The grand finale was quick and painless, too. This lady knows her stuff. read more

Never got to see Dr. Rubin because she cancelled her appointment with me after waiting 2 months to see her and then told me it was going to be another 2 months to see her again. To top it off a recording called me to tell me my appointment was cancelled after waiting 2 months, not a person which I found tacky, and then another recording called me to tell me it was still on a few days later. Finally a person got off their butt to call me the day before my appointment (while I was out of the country so I couldn't call back until the next day) where no one answered the phones the entire day and finally got back to me at 4pm to inform me of the 2 month wait. Declined to become a patient. Terrible scheduling procedures place. 10 minutes later after I got off the phone: someone else from the office (sounded like the same person to me) called me to tell me my appointment was cancelled and I need to reschedule after I just told someone 10 minutes earlier I declined to become a patient. read more

I am of two opposing views on Dr. Rubin. The woman herself is a wonderful doctor (though not perfect, more on that below), as many reviews attest. However, her office and nursing staff is consistently horrifically rude, difficult to work with, and generally insensitive, which is why I have now switched to someone else. The office is open something like 9:30 to 4:30, and they don't answer the phone for an hour during lunch (you get their answering service instead). And even after they are supposed to start answering again, at least according to their voice mail message, I've STILL gotten the answering service. Very frustrating when I'm trying to fit this in over my lunch break. Once they do answer the phone, if you're having any kind of urgent problem, give it up. Getting an appointment can be very difficult (I get that she's popular, but what about emergencies?), and the front desk staff often transferred me to her nurse, who was just awful. Last year the nurse told me that I still had a month left on my prescription, even though I was out. She just kept saying "But you have another month" and I was like "I'm OUT! I need a refill!". Extremely frustrating. Also, when I've called with urgent issues that I want to see Dr. Rubin for, the nurse did everything to keep me from seeing her. This same nurse has also discussed private things with me in the waiting room, yelled at me for coming into the office when she didn't call with my promised test results (and the office was on its lunch break, so I couldn't call...), and generally treated me terribly. The one time I mentioned to Dr. Rubin that her nurse was not the best, she blew me off, and last time I spoke to her on the phone, she told me that her office staff felt that I was rude to them. I simply cannot believe that, instead of addressing it directly with me, someone complained to my doctor, and she basically chastised me. This, because I expect basic courtesy and competency from the clinic staff. The last straw was when I received a voice mail saying that "If you wish to remain Dr. Rubin's patient, please call to schedule your annual exam." Excuse me?! I have since switched to someone else and am much happier with the overall experience. Being a great doctor is not enough -- you need a great staff to back you up, and Dr. Rubin doesn't have it. read more

I first went to Dr. Rubin a few years back for just regular checkups. I chose her because of all the great reviews people posted about her. She was great! - but now I realize that's because I had no issues. All it was, just regular check up. 3 months ago, I learned that I was pregnant. I called to schedule an appointment and was told I had to wait 3 weeks to get in. I found that a bit weird, considering the situation. I don't mind waiting for 3 weeks to get in for a checkup, but this was a little more urgent, or so I thought. Three weeks later, my husband and I went to see Dr. Rubin. She was OK at best. She had a check list of do's and don'ts that she went over with us and then just did a check up on me. She told me that my insurance may not cover ultrasounds so she does not recommend I do it. I knew that all my friends that had babies had at least 3 ultrasounds during their pregnancy. When I got home I called my insurance company to find if it's covered, and was asked to get billing codes from the Dr. so that they can tell me. I called the office of Dr. Rubin twice, and never got a call back. In addition, my husband and I both come from European Jewish families and we had to do additional testing. Dr. Rubin called me two weeks later and told me that my test results came in positive and my husband needs to come in for blood work. I was distraught to say the least. She didn't explain anything to me, just that my test results were positive. After two weeks of waiting for my husband's test results, we called the office 3 days in a row, and finally received a call back but only to be told to stop calling and they'll call us when results are available. We scheduled an appointment with a genetics Dr. as a precautionary. When we went to see the genetics Dr. they called Dr. Rubin's office to ask for both of our results, which they faxed over. Dr. Rubin had my husband's results for over a week by that time, even though they told us they didn't when we called. When the genetics counselor sat down with us to go over our results, it turned out that the panel has 12 strands and only for one of those my test results came back inconclusive. I was never positive, just inconclusive, and all that meant that they had to order additinal testing for just that one strand. My husband and I spent a month driving ourselves crazy, when it was something so simple. Once the additional testing was done, it came back negative a few days later and I never had to worry about anything. Needless to say, we switched to a different Dr. right away. Dr. Rubin was good for when I had no health issues, and had no questions to ask. She is very nice, but I think it takes much more than being nice to be a good Dr. At the end of the day, I want a Dr. who cares how my pregnancy goes and helps me through it instead of a Dr. who is just nice. All they care about at this place is to get you in and out and bill your insurance. They don't want to spend extra time helping or explaining things to you. When my new Dr. requested copies of my records from Dr. Rubin, they were told they had to pay for them. When I called to inqure why I had to pay to get my records I was told it's because I am switching Dr's and they are allowed to charge per page. Another example of how all they care about is making money on you. read more

Dr. Rubin was fantastic. She was thorough and able to explain things to me in a relaxed, easy to understand manner. Any trepidation I had about going immediately vanished after a few minutes of talking to her. The exam itself was so quick, I found myself surprised when she told me I was done. She was gentle, caring and efficient. Dr Rubin also told me all my options for the various tests etc and told me about the HPV vaccination, but didn't push me into making a decision on it. Which I loved. Her office staff was polite and efficient too. I went ahead and got a blood test for STDs (having never had one before I thought I might as well check, it wasn't because I'm a nasty ho. I swear) and it was the first shot I've gotten in years. I've never had a problem with needles but they're still not on my list of favorite things to have stuck in my arm. The nurse who drew my blood, however, was professional, courteous and made the whole experience painless and fast. I made an appointment here because of the reviews on yelp and I'm so glad I did. I would recommend her to anyone. read more

If you value your health, please do not visit this practice. They are incredibly slow with test results and they don't seem to care about their patients. My wife went in for an urgent check-up after experiencing painful (and potentially dangerous) symptoms for a week. She told her doctor that she was scared and concerned because antibiotics and other treatments weren't helping. The doctor ordered a few basic tests and after a week she still hasn't called my wife. No updates and no efforts to check up on my wife's status. When my wife calls the practice to ask for help, no one answers the phone. She left a message and no one called her back. This is truly terrible service and honestly frightening since my wife's symptoms are persisting. If you need genuine service from thoughtful doctors, please choose a different practice! read more

Dr Rubin is great. We started the appt in her office for a pre-check up chat. (which I've never had the joy of doing before) She is caring, informative, and easy to talk to about the not so easy topics. She also remembered to ask me if i wanted to have the all the tests (STD/otherwise) done. Other experiences I've had with Dr.s is that YOU have to ask for that...if the patient forgets, or feel embarrassed to, they are SOL. The best part: I was in and out of the icky parts quickly! Very recommend if you are looking for a new GYN read more

I'm double posting, because even if quality of care by the doctor is good these other things do factor in. Dr. Rubin is very nice and easy going. I felt very comfortable with her. I went to her specifically because she specializes in a problem I was having, but then she didn't seem really concerned about it. Their office staff is pretty bad though. I have decided that I will not be returning to this practice based solely on this. I wasn't billed until months afterwards and when I was, I paid on the phone. They never actually processed my payment. I called to fix this, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I then received a rude message about how they were going to send me to collections. I called again to pay. Success. Partially. They charged my card for the wrong amount. I called again to try to pay, and I was told I actually had a credit, then was transferred to another person who curtly detailed out how I owed money and it wasn't a balance. Um, yea. I just want to give you my money. Why is it so hard to make you take it. I don't have time to waste tracking after my doctors to make sure they process my payments. I will not be returning. read more

Shayna Rubin is a great doctor. However, I am looking for an overall not-painful experience when going to the doctor, and the terribleness of the office staff at this place more than detracts from any quality of medical care you are given. They are unclear, unhelpful, and unconcerned. I understand that you have a busy office, but figure out a way to answer the phone before nine rings and without hanging up on the caller. Getting a human on the line has consistanrly taken me 5 successive attempts. I understand that being a busy office means that you may not have appointments available soon, but having no flexibility for an urgent health need for an existing patient AND without an offer to put me on some sort of waiting list for an opening is just completely unacceptible. What if I thougt I was pregnant? Am I supposed to wait 3 months to find out? Unfortunately I would have liked to stay with Dr Rubin as she is lovely, but the dreadfulness of the office staff and lack of overall organizational "un-concern" for the needs of the patients has encouraged me to seek a new doctor. I mean, what is the point of having a doctor if you can't see them in a reasonable ammount of time (read: under one month) when you have a health concern? read more

I found Dr. Rubin on yelp a few months ago - I have never met such a wonderful and caring Dr. - ever. I have a bit of family history and she made sure I went through the gamut of tests to clear my bill of health. Not only did she suggest and run the tests she explained exactly how they would work. Some Drs I have had in the past just kind of give you a bullet list - but Dr. Rubin was wonderful. I highly recommend her and highly recommend any of you ladies that haven't been in a while to stop ignoring your bits and pieces - you only get one set, sure they can be enhanced but they can not be completely replaced. read more

So i've really enjoyed being a patient of Dr. Rubin's over the last 3-4 years. However, today I am throughly annoyed with one of her office staff, June. I had my annual check-up a few weeks ago at which time Dr. Rubin wanted to send a specimen out for further testing. I called today to get the results and asked for some additional information/explanation regarding them from Dr. Rubin. June made me feel ridiculous for wanting more information, and acted like it was a hassle to take down my information for Dr. Rubin's assistant to call me back tomorrow. It's my health and I deserve to know what's going on! So, I can't fault Dr. Rubin since she provides excellent, friendly service. But I can take a star off the review for her inconsiderate staff. read more

I've been looking for a new OB/GYN doctor since moving into Chicago, and found Dr. Rubin based on the amazing Yelp reviews - thanks Yelp! It took about 1.5 months for me to get an appointment with Dr. Rubin as a new patient, but I knew it was worth the wait. Finally went in for my appointment last Friday, and I am pretty sure I found one of the best OB/GYN doctor in Chicago! Firstly, Dr. Rubin's practice is at the Women's Health Consulting, you know you are in good hands when you find a practice that's been around since the 1980s. You know the practice is specialized and have a FOLLOWING when you enter the lobby, and find yourself facing an aquarium!! Yes, there's an aquatic tank and it was very children-friendly with painted walls, low toy seating and the "Under the Sea" theme throughout the lobby. The receptionists / nurses were friendly, gave me some basic paperwork to fill out, and I was on my way to see Dr. Rubin within 10minutes. I was first led by the Nurse into the exam room where weight / height measurement was taken. Like Pamela reviewed, it was great to meet Dr. Rubin in her gorgeous office (corner office, overlooking downtown & Millennium Park) where we went through family medical history, background and more for 20minutes. Dr. Rubin was very thorough and really friendly, her warm smile puts you at ease right away, and definitely calmed my nerves for the exam! What I really loved about Dr. Rubin was that she didn't default to putting you on "the Pill" regardless of what issues you had. In fact, she is super-detailed and had variety of brochures on Women's Health and preventive medication available. I had a wonderful experience and is referring Dr. Rubin to all of my colleagues! I am so glad I found a great doctor in Chicago =) read more

If you work downtown, I highly recommend Dr. Rubin as your new gynecologist. Even as a new patient, I was in and out and back to work within my lunch hour. Dr. Rubin is very approachable and seems very comfortable with her job. She also makes you feel extremely comfortable. Before the exam, she sits you in her office to get to know you and your background a little bit better. It's much more comfortable being in her office as opposed to doing that part of the visit in the exam room. Dr. Rubin is very knowledgeable, and it shows that she is extremely caring about her patients. I also do not have a regular physician, so she gave me a couple referrals. All in all, it was as great of an experience as one could hope to have at the gyno! read more

Okay, please note that this review is for Dr. Rubin, not the office itself, because, if for the office itself, my review would be a few stars less. Dr. Rubin is fantastic. I've done a bit of doctor shopping in Chicago, and, she is, far and away, the best that I have found. She's super knowledgeable and explains things in a clear, concise way without dumbing them down. She checks up on you when you've had issues. She makes a point to bring you into her office to talk to you clothed before putting you in an uncomfortable situation in the exam room. Really, I could go on for days about how great she is (and I'm still a new patient)! However, there is the little problem of her office. I want to love this place. It's really nice, conveniently located for pretty much all train lines, and, everyone here (that I've encountered at least) goes out of their way to make you comfortable. The problem, I think, is that this is a popular office and (it seems that) they can't quite keep up with the logistics of having so many patients. I've had trouble making appointments, having prescriptions called in, and other administrative type things, but nothing that would prevent me from seeing Dr. Rubin. She is awesome. Her assistant, Mary, is also really great. Be patient with the office, make an appointment, and see her. You won't regret it. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Rubin's for ... five years? Six? Feels like forever! I've been consistently pleased with her and with the office staff. Do they have bad days with long wait times? Yes, but it's not the norm. Do I hate their phone system? Yes! But I've figured out how to work it to my advantage. In the process of trying to start of family, fate dealt us a really sh*tty hand and we had to go through things that no one should ever have to deal with. Throughout the ordeal, Dr. Rubin has been totally supportive and empathetic, and the office staff went to bat for me when my insurance company put up a stink over charges I shouldn't have had to pay. I've never felt like I don't have value or that I'm not important to the doctor or to the staff. It probably helps that I've been going there so long and they know me by name, but I've never seen anyone treated disrespectfully by staff ... and I'm there ALL the time! read more

I love Dr. Rubin. She's great. She's really down to earth and easy to talk to. She also does a great job of addressing all of your questions and will spend the extra time to answer them. I also think she really pays attention to you as an individual and takes the time to review everything in your chart. I see that a lot of reviews mention the staff being horrible, but I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the nurses. They've all been very nice and very professional. I've had to wait a few times before my appointment, but never too long (or out of the ordinary for a drs office). read more

I adore Dr. Rubin. Like prevoius reviewers said, she's friendly, genuine, truly listens, and is totally approachable with any question. I've been seeing her for about a year and I have no complaints. She's the first doctor I've had in a long time who does not push drug therapies I don't want, which is a big plus for me. She also took the time to talk to my boyfriend after I had surgery last year & he was impressed as well. The office staff is nice, phone calls are returned promptly, and I only had to wait once, on an occasion when they squeezed me in last minute for an emergency. I highly recommend her. read more

I want to start with acknowledging the Doctors were great. I was 6 weeks pregnant and my first visit was perfect. However, when I received the bill a week later I was in shock. I have great insurance - blue cross blue shield - yet I was being charged $700 out of pocket. They were in my network. I reviewed the bill and saw they included a procedure that had nothing to do with pregnancy - which is why my insurance wouldn't cover it. It cost me $500. I was never asked if I wanted this extra procedure done nor was it ever mentioned. I did more research and learned they should never do the procedure unless they have a medical reason (known blockage) and when I called and questioned this the billing department told me they had no concern as this was their standard procedure. Please look around and compare costs. I learned their billing practices are close to fraudulent and are taking advantage of pregnant woman. I found a new Dr who confirmed all of the above and never have I paid such an outrageous bill since. Do your research - ask about the cost before you have an appointment. read more

I love love love Dr Rubin! She is the absolute perfect physician. I have high standards; my dad is a surgeon. She is wonderful, so sweet, and so approachable! She really wants to answer any questions you have, and is willing to spend extra time answering them. I even asked her questions about muscle tension in my neck and shoulders, and gave me a great response, including referring me to a wonderful physical therapist. I leave her office each time thinking to myself how I managed to stumble upon the world's greatest OB/GYN. She's really pretty too... read more

Dr. Rubin is as good as it gets when it comes to an OB/GYN. Though the wait time for an appointment was quite long, I can't fault her for being so popular. First off, her bedside manner is extraordinary. There was hardly any time spent in the waiting room and instead of greeting me and discussing my medical history in the exam room, she does it in the comfort of her beautiful office overlooking the city. She took her time and didn't make me feel rushed at ALL. The actual exam was quick and painless and the test results were back in 2 days (even though she said it could be a week or 2). I am very happy with my choice to switch doctors and highly recommend her to anyone! read more

Dr. Rubin was my OBGYN for my first baby. My experience with her was OK at best. Her bedside manners didn't work well with me. I always felt rushed during my appointments with her and I made real efforts to strike up conversations but never felt warmth and concern from her side. When I had appointments with other doctors in the practice Dr. Rubin wouldn't even say hi... found that weird. Finally, another doctor from the practice delivered my baby and I was in the recovery room for 3 days but Dr. Rubin never saw me or spoke to me. I have not been contacted by her till now!! I don't know what doctor's protocol is but it felt really weird. My new OBGYN has pictures of all the babies she help delivered in her office. That's what I expect from a doctor!! read more

I've been in Chicago for 5 years and wish I would have heard about Dr. Rubin sooner because for my first 4 years here, I frequented Planned Parenthoods, and other women's health clinics where you were treated like a number and not a person. I knew Dr. Rubin was different from my first visit. She sat me down to talk with her, and asked about my personal health and any issues I was having before providing the exam. The best part about Dr. Rubin is that when you go in to see her, you can tell she actually cares about your well-being and giving you individualized treatment that works for you, not the masses. The staff are also really friendly and competent. When they made a mistake with my billing, I was issued a reimbursement within two weeks. Most of you know that getting a reimbursement that soon, and without argument, is a rarity in the medical world. I trust Dr. Rubin whole-heartedly with my health, and when it's time to have children (hopefully not anytime soon!) I'll be going to Dr. Rubin for that too! read more

Dr. Rubin is an amazing doctor. Makes you feel comfortable and I would highly recommend her to anyone else.

I went to Dr Rubin based on the reviews on this website, I live in the suburbs and I had to take the train to the city but let me tell you she is SO WORTH IT. I had some test done and I was very surprise when she called with the results. It is usually the nurse or receptionist who calls with the results. I was very impress. She made me feel so comfortable when I was at her office. She actually talks to her patients in her office before the exam. She is just fantastic as well as her staff. I'm so glad I found her! read more

Looking for a new GYN is never a fun process. I went to visit Dr. Rubin due to her lovely Yelp reviews. I have had horrible experiences in the past and since my first visit she has eased my anxiety. She treated our time together as if it was precious and as if she had not one thing better to do. She discussed all of my options with me in full detail and answered my countless questions patiently. I called her about a week later with some more questions and she called back almost immediately with helpful answers. She is such an amazing doctor and someone I know I can trust. I'm so glad I found her right off the bat instead of having to hop around looking for someone I felt actually cared. I've been raving about her to friends and will continue to recommend her practice. read more

Dr. Rubin is fantastic! If you have any questions, she is more than willing to answer them and overall has the kind of bedside manner that you used to be able to expect from an MD. I found her from other Yelp reviews and couldn't be happier! Bonus for the architecturally inclined- her office is in a pretty cool old downtown building.... the elevators are a little scary and rickety though! read more

For sure, going to the gynecologist is not at all that pleasant or fun. Dr. Rubin is really a great doctor though. She makes you feel comfortable enough to talk to her, even about difficult subjects. Also, she tries to make the examination itself as easy as possible. She talks with you to relax you and make you as comfortable as possible. Even though it's never fun going in, Dr. Rubin makes it as easy as it can possibly be. She also calls back pretty promptly with test results and during the examination she is always focused on you. If anyone is looking for a gynecologist, I would definitely recommend her. read more

Dr Rubin is wonderful. The office is comfortable and elegant. (Beautiful aquarium in the waiting room.). The office staff are welcoming and efficient. Dr Rubin takes the time to sit and talk with her patients, welcomes questions, and is very easy to talk to. The exam portion of the visit is efficient and puts one at ease. I feel like my health and well being are a priority, and that I can trust Dr Rubin and her staff to have my best interests at heart. read more

Love Dr. Rubin. She has been my provider for over 10 years. Dr. Rubin is a wonderful provider and cares about her patients.

I love dr. Rubin but I hate dealing with the office. Medical assistant has so much attitude, I am afraid to call, literally. Every time I am calling to get my medical record or have a question I feel like I'm 5 years old who lost her gloves again and mom will be so mad! They are talking to the patients like we are just bothering them on their day off during the walk with a family. So rude, impatient, without slightest effort to help. And god forbid if you try to make an appointment less then a month in advance, you've been talked to like you are mad completely out of your mind because obviously doctor doesn't have time. so, if you are pregnant and need some extra assistance than once a year scan then be ready to be very uncomfortable and to think 10 times before call. Never experienced this attitude at any other doctor's office ever. So, not sure if I can continue seeing Dr. Rubin. read more

I'd been looking for a new Obgyn and saw great rating for Dr. Rubin via yelp, so decided to schedule an appointment with her. She is awesome! She has great presence and instantly makes you feel comfortable (during one of the most uncomfy but necessary appointment we women have to do regularly). I did have a bit of a wait, which is the only reason for my four star rating. I would chalk this up to being a new patient, however there was a bit of a line for the office (perhaps othe Drs.) during my trip there. Looking forward to having her as my new doc! read more

Agree with many of the lower rated reviews here for WHC/Dr. Rubin's office. I only make time to review service when it's really exceptional or the exact opposite, and unfortunately because this is a medical SERVICE, I feel it important to review and advise as others have here--that Dr. Rubin's medical experience may be desirable, but certainly not desirable enough to endure the horrible administrative staff /support/service. I started visiting Dr.Rubin after researching for a specialist after relocating to Chicago. Dr. Rubin was relatively nice and professional, though I'm not convinced she was very helpful or focused on my main issue brought to her attention upon my first new patient appointment. She seemed to use general fixes (like I'd described to her in my first appt-- I wanted to be more preventative and problem solving than bandaid-ing symptoms for quick fixes) vs trying to find solutions for the problem. Fast forward three years and three to four exams later and feels like I'm just being tolerated as an insurance holder more than helped for my medical condition. Maybe she's just too busy to be able to actually focus on every patient's needs or concerns, and not sure what the thinking or practice is for Dr. Rubin. To be fair, she is still a pleasant person, but I need my doctor to be more than pleasant, especially with the staff at WHC.. as you'll read below. The admin/MA staff is the worst I've dealt with--ever! And that's considering more than 20yrs of women's health visits with various medical professionals. Her office staff is rude, very snappy, and seem to believe that it is optional to care about the patient or their needs and concerns, in addition to the constant attitudes of the staff (are the staff that low paid that they literally hate working there?? Who knows?? Morale must be terrible to have staff literally angry so often. Maybe outside consulting would help change the work atmosphere if the office cares but in looking at reviews--this isn't a recent change in atmosphere--it's existed quite a while) and their non-responsiveness. It's taken upward of three weeks to get simple lab results (like do I have HIV or not?? It's a standard test that I get annually and I've never waited a month for confirmation of my negative status! Some of us just like that confirmation I'm sure!), and when inquiring, the MA (all of them I've encountered), are useless. I've been told for lab results that the doc hasn't reviewed results so they couldn't be shared. The MAs have attitudes (likely getting lots of negative feedback) when you call again to ask if there are any concerns and they are misleading in the fact that they give you some indicator that they have the results but can't share yet.. and that seems odd to tell a patient and then not call for weeks. And then when I'd let Dr Rubin know how hard of a time I had with staff she was very nonchalant about it (guessing she's tired of hearing it from patients--and doesn't impact her personally I guess). She said she had no idea why the MA held my lab results and didn't call. So frustrating! Unacceptable in the nature of this work. Even when inquiring, I never received call backs from the MA after multiple emails and phone calls. The last MA I spoke with seemed annoyed to have to talk to me and though I said I'd really like a call back ASAP--two weeks later and still haven't gotten a call back related to my prescription refill. I doubt the message was ever documented. The MA never calls back for anything and the patient portal is a joke. They don't reply to electronic messages either. And this isn't a "angry patient revenge" post. It's a --"no medical care should be received this way" post, and it's not fair to me or others who expect to receive reasonable care and support. And I can admit that my attitude (after three or four calls mind you) wasn't very pleasant either after MULTIPLE bad encounters with the staff. So if the thinking is that I provoked this in anyway, wrong! Why wouldn't I be less than pleasant after multiple horrible encounters related to MY MEDICAL CARE! I gave up on trying to ask questions or ask for a simple refill. It was too difficult and there are plenty of other great docs to choose from so unless you desperately need Dr. Rubin's service--I advise you choose a more patient-friendly/responsive office/non-low budget staffed office. Oh but they did manage to remember my number when I was past due on a co-pay, but not when I actually needed medical responses or support, lol, go figure. Wouldn't have expected anything more from them. Stay healthy;) read more

I realize that everyone else is writing 5 star reviews, and I am not sure why. I went to Dr Rubins office a few months ago and had a bad experience - I didn't think about writing a review until now (a friend said she was going to the gyno and I asked which one - so I had to explain my story to her). Anyway, I have been to a few great dr's before, and this was by far the WORST dr's office experience ever. Getting checked in went ok, but then they called me back into the patient room. From the one I was siting in, you could see straight out into the waiting area - which also meant all those people could see me when the door opened. The Dr called me into her office, we talked, etc - then for the exam they give you a paper shirt and cloth. I have never had a dr give me a paper shirt for a breast exam, so that was weird. Without disclosing too many details, she was very unprofessional when giving the exam. After it was over, the nurse needed to get my weight. She had me follow her around to 4 different rooms to find a working scale, then finally found that the only one that worked was in the room where there was another patient. So she barges in on this poor other girl (luckily still clothed) to weigh me. As if the visit didnt suck enough, they lost my pap smear. Time to find someone else... read more

If you need a gynecologist for only annual exams, never anticipate having any urgent issues, or you don't need to receive a call back for over a week (i'm still waiting), then Dr. Rubin is great. I have been a patient of Dr. Rubin's for 7 years now and thankfully have had no issues and just went in for my annuals. She was pleasant and is a very nice person. I recently had an urgent issue for which i called the office for over a week on a consistent basis to speak to Dr. Rubin and kept getting connected to her assistant. Dr. Rubin never called me back (still hasn't, i'll be switching gyns this week). Personally, I don't find it useful to have a physician that is completely unavailable when you actually need them and have an urgent medical issue. I'm assuming this is a liability of sorts, but seems that the office does not care. I will unfortunately be leaving the office after a long relationship with Dr. Rubin. read more

I called twice and each time a lady answered very coldly sounding and said "hello?" And I said I had a question about the insurance and she said very rudely, "what about it?" I immediately hung up because it sounded so disrespectful, get new staff read more

Dr Rubin is fantastic - calm, pleasant and knowledgeable. She takes the time to listen to all my concerns and correctly diagnosed a hormonal imbalance that I'd lived with for years. She has been my OB for the last 3 years, and has supported me through various ups and downs - routine checkups, one miscarriage and the birth of my daughter. I will also add in a note about the other docs in her practice - Dr McDonald and Dr Kritzer both really awesome in their own way. It's rare to find a practice where every Dr is a gem, and this is certainly one! The office staff is a little meh as other reviewers have pointed out, but moving to an electronic system has helped and lately I've seen a marked improvement in follow ups and voicemails. read more

Dr. Rubin and her staff are amazing! I saw her for 8 years while I lived in Chicago. I moved to Indianapolis and wanted a second opinion after my new doc suggested I have a procedure. I called Dr. Rubin's office that day and spoke with June. She worked a miracle and squeezed me in the very next day. Margarita was Dr. Rubin's nurse and went over and above to get my medical records from my Indy doc. Dr. Rubin spent 15 minutes with me explaining my results and giving me her opinion. I was so touched!!!! I was already stressed and emotional and these three ladies took great care of me! I am so thankful that they were so accommodating! I drove 6 hours round trip today to see her and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Anyone looking for a great doc and staff, head straight to Dr. Rubin. Let June and Margarita take amazing care of you!!!! read more
