    Lump crab and shrimp tower
    Tiphany B.

Stopped in on rainy Saturday to give this local gem a return visit. Apparently, most people were avoiding the rain since the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat in the bar and found out that lunch specials extend thru Saturdays... including $0.99 cocktails. I tried a lemon drop from the special menu and my husband had an old-fashioned from the regular menu. Both were great... mine was a half size of the regular size but for the price, a second one made sense... so I obliged and it was just as good as the first. We tried the lump crab and shrimp appetizer and it was yummy. While not the full lump that I was expecting, it was still delicious. Hubby had a burger and I had the shrimp poboy. He loved his smash burger and my shrimp were fresh, huge, and beautifully cooked. Neither of us could finish our food. We plan to return for Thursday night fried chicken or Sunday brunch!

Kudos to Manager , Server Mark and Staff Shelley, Robert, Latreece and Caleb. I almost hate to post this review for fear the Sunday brunch will be overrun. Long story short. The Sunday brunch is to die for. The restaurant is gorgeous inside and reminded me of a Charleston SC style low country spot because of the chandeliers and gas lamps. The buffet has anything you could want and the staff all highlight the benefits of their dishes. Service was excellent with plates removed quickly and coffee refills on the spot. Tons of lovely touches including warm hand towels with lemon, beautiful restroom, the swings at the bar and live jazz. That's all I'm going to say...shhhh mums the word!

This is a solid spot for Cajun food in southeast Houston. I haven't had much reason to come down to Dickinson until Marais opened up within the past few years. I recommend making a reservation on OpenTable to guarantee a spot. If no inside seating is available, their patio is gorgeous and faces the bayou. While they also offer brunch a la carte, I especially like their Sunday brunch buffet, in which you can try a variety of their signatures for $40 per person. They offer mimosas for the table with a variety of juices for only $10 per champagne bottle - that is a steal! They even have a live Jazz band playing during Sunday brunch! Parking is usually not an issue in the back, as they also own the next-door establishment and allow you to park here as well. The buffet area is a little cramped, as they convert the near-bar area into the buffet on Sundays. I have found that the traffic movement seems illogical here: you have to walk all the way through the buffet line to where the line starts in the opposite direction. I wish they would reverse the flow here to make it one-way to reduce congestion. My favorites on the brunch buffet are the gumbo, fried catfish & grits, and mac and cheese. The roux in the gumbo is very flavorful. The catfish is always crispy with a good seasoning; if you need tartar sauce, ask your server and they will bring it out. I like the fried chicken as well, since the breading is super crispy, however it is seasoned way too salty. I almost had to take a gulp of water after each bite. I also wish their hashbrowns were dry-fried and crispy, however these come out wet and soft. They also have a Bananas Foster station, which can take a minute to come out. But finding Bananas Foster anywhere outside of NOLA is pretty rare, so I'm happy to see it offered here. I will say that they go heavy on the bread though (filler), so if anything I recommend trying it for just the bananas in the saucy glaze. Service here is always solid. Brunch time is always super busy, so it might take a minute to flag down your server, but all of the servers are usually friendly and willing to help each other out. We will definitely be back for brunch since this is a good option in the area. I always walk by the swing chairs at the bar on my way out, and have this place on my list to try for happy hour or drinks someday if I'm in the area!

    Elk chops

Went for dinner, Chris was our server, he was amazing! We started with the smoked red fish dip, mouth watering! Creamy, smoky, and delicious! Wish the portion was a bit bigger! We split the classic wedge salad, crips iceberg lettuce, blue cheese chunks, and avocado slices! Yes, please! Hubs had the elk chops! His first time having elk, he loved them! Medium rare is the best way to order elk! The blueberry compote was a nice touch, but the potato's that were served with it were way too salty. We should've said something, we didn't, that's on us and being that I had plenty of my meal, we shared my orzo! The elk chops were delicious but on the smaller side. They should add another chop or two. I had the special 5oz blackened filet topped with crawfish etoufee and Cajun orzo. My filet was cooked a perfect medium rare and my sides were not salty whatsoever!! When having a steak or chop, they bring a selection of steak knives to choose from which is a nice touch! This restaurant has a large dining area, a large bar, another bar area "a fancy sports bar" with horse saddles as seats along with swings at the bar! There is also a large area downstairs with a bar and lots of tables with a great view of the bayou! Great date spot or a great spot for the family!!

The place is very nice, the service were amazing always checking if we needed anything else. The food was amazing.

Went here for my Sweet 16 and will be a very special memory for everyone. Rented the private room and Doug did more than just take care of us. He went above and beyond and was very helpful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic and plated beautifully. We will be returning for more events in the future. Thank you Doug for the wonderful evening and fantastic food.

Wonderful place for a business dinner, brunch, or date night We had a great experience due to the patient and kind server. He was led us through the menu and made some good recommendations. We also really loved the ambience -- fine dining meets French quarter. There is an underground bar next to the bayou, outdoor dining, and another bar with swings immediately next to the main dining area. Also, there's a room that you rsvp for events and private dining! The food was delicious too. Here's the breakdown: *Chargrilled Trio - 4/5 due to being a little too salty *24 oz. Bone In Ribeye - 5/5 *Marais Crab Cake - 5/5 *Lobster Mac N Cheese - 4/5 *Brussels Sprouts - 0/5 we returned this one *Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé - 5/5

Shrimp and grits. This was wonderful, May I suggest adding the grilled garlic bread to it, with it!

Had wonderful brunch with friends. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Nice and relaxed.

So, we decided to give them a try. Kudos to them for adding signage and grabbing my attention. We went for lunch. I ordered the Catfish basket and upgraded the fries to a cup of gumbo. My personal experience with Cajun food is that it is normally slightly spicy and packed with flavor. I did not find the fried catfish to be spicy at all. Not even a little spicy. The catfish was fried perfectly but lacking in spice and was slightly bland. Same thing with the gumbo. No spice but prepared well. The hushpuppies were pretty good. So, if you like the taste of Cajun food and prefer very little spice, this is the place for you. I however, prefer more flavor and spice hence my 3-star review. I hope this helps. I've been wanting to try Main St. Bistro, so when my sister suggested it for Easter, I was down. We had a party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids). We got there around 1:00 on Easter Sunday & didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. A man took our drink order. My brother-in-law asked to go ahead & order two appetizers. Our waitress, Natalie, came shortly after, introduced herself & confirmed the appetizers. We were brought 4 small cubes of banana bread, which felt weird since there were 7 of us. My toddler & my niece both had a whole one. The other two were split between 4 adults. My brother-in-law didn't have any. The appetizers came out fairly quickly & were gone just as fast. We finally ordered right at 2:00 after a little wait & indecisiveness. Then my son was done sitting in a highchair. My husband and brother-in-law took the kids outside. They played for a bit & walked two laps around the whole strip center. They came back, still no food. My son had a complete meltdown since he was both hungry & now tired, my brother-in-law asked if there was any way they could just rush my son's food. They did and he started eating, everyone was so hungry that they had some bites of his food as well. My mom went to ask the manager if our food was close to being ready. The answer was no, there was a whole list of orders ahead of ours. The manager was kind enough to bring us some spinach dip & apologized for the wait, explaining she was dreading today because the kitchen wasn't equipped for the Easter crowd. She assured us that they were working as fast as possible & we appreciated her honesty & effort. My mom went to her car & asked us to let her know when her food came. Our food finally started arriving at 3:17, and not all at once. My sister's meal came last. By this time my son was done & was getting restless while we had JUST started eating. The food itself was disappointing. My sister and I both ordered Benedicts. Mine (Boudin Benny) wasn't hot and was mushy instead of seared. Both of our poached eggs were undercooked. My sister's also had a large amount of cream cheese that wasn't listed and didn't taste good. Other issues: my mom's fries were cold, my brother-in-law said his chicken fried steak was no good. He ate it because he was hungry, and while my husband liked his sandwich & was happy with it, his fries were cold. My niece enjoyed her burger. My son's shrimp, fries, & macaroni were all hot and good... likely because they were rushed for him. It was 3:45 by the time we left. They close at 3. We received a 40% discount, but there was also a 20% automatic gratuity added, which some in our party didn't expect. Here's where they earn stars back... Natalie was great! She took great care of us & kept apologizing for the delay. We could tell that she felt bad, but it was not her fault. The manager also came by checking on us multiple times & got us settled as best she could. She brought us spinach dip while we waited & she made sure that my toddler got food very quickly after being asked about it. She did thank us multiple times for our kindness & patience. As did Natalie. I too, was appreciative of the kindness they showed us. Most of us have all worked in food service before & we understand that the wait staff can only do so much. We also understand being slammed in the kitchen & how fast paced they have to work in order to handle rushes. I appreciate the 40% discount... 20% after the tip. This review was based on one trip & I will update my review if/when I return. But this visit was definitely not a great experience & if it weren't for the kindness, I'd be leaving one star.
