This is the kind of unethical shady shop experience you fear when taking your car in for repairs…read more I brought my vehicle in to have my transmission looked at. It was slipping when downshifting and I could not take it on the highway anymore. After 3 days in their shop and a $500 inspection fee I received a printout saying my radiator cap and coolant hoses were in critical condition and needed immediate replacement. As well as every fluid and other minor easy to perform repairs. When I arrived back at the shop and explained my concerns with the mechanics findings the clerk became quite confrontational. Not wanting to engage in the clerks baiting, I spoke with the mechanic directly and asked him several questions about his findings. When I asked about why the radiator cap and hoses were in immediate need of repairs/replacement specifically asking if there was signs of damage, fraying, leaks or internal damage/flaking of the hose. He told me that there was no damage or leaks either internally or externally but that the hoses and cap appeared old. I then asked about the transmission, expressing that it was the whole reason I brought the vehicle in for inspections in the first place. He simply informed me that he did not inspect the transmission. But that everything seemed to be in working order on his "road test". The clerk then seemed surprised that I elected not to have any of the repairs performed and requested to settle the bill with no further repairs. I didn't get as far as the Safeway, one stoplight away, and the transmissions planetary gears grinding and slipping could still be heard and felt. I will not be returning. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE, DO NOT USE THIS SHOP.

He claimed to be rebuilding the engine on my vehicle. He had me order thousands of dollars in auto parts to deliver to him. He then charged me thousands of dollars for his time and labor. When I finally had my vehicle towed to a licensed-highly rated mechanic, there was no rebuild parts to be located. All existing parts were old and rusted. He never did the work, probably sold my parts on eBay and still charged me thousands for labor that was never done. Additionally he told me that he had sent the head of my engine to a machine shop and charged me $500 for this service; which was also never done. My brand new 300$ optima battery was even missing. He supposedly replaced that and the pump but in the meantime, when I get it back, I have a bunch other lights on telling me that I only have so many miles to go before it's gonna shut down to half power, I finally had to take it to the garage where they said that the PCM was fried by something that he had done or hadn't done. When confronted with this, he thought I was trying to be dishonest I would not use him for the simple fact that I really don't think he knows what he's doing all the time, I'm out of vehicle for two months and he really doesn't care! I have to pay an extra $3000 to get the vehicle fixed and in the meantime it's sitting there because it won't run .

Earlier this year, I imported my dream car from Japan. I was, of course, buying it without a test…read moredrive (let alone seeing the car in person) or even service records, but it had super low mileage, a pristine interior, and a price I couldn't pass up. Long story short, when I picked it up from the port in June, it wasn't exactly roadworthy and in fact seemed to have some potentially serious issues from sitting parked an unknown amount of time. I called every mechanic shop I could find the number of, and the ones they suggested I call as well, but for some strange reason, none of them wanted to even look at my 30-year-old unregistered car (with no service history, no way to read the engine codes, and parts that were never sold in this country). I'd already decided to cut my losses and ship the car home, but by sheer luck, a tow truck driver I called happened to be business neighbors with a shop called Stacked Perfomance, which somehow I hadn't found in my searching. I got in touch, found out that they actually dealt with situations like mine fairly often, and that they were even experienced with my model of car. In the months since I first brought my car to Stacked Performance, they have been nothing but extremely professional, thorough, and transparent. They went though the work of manually diagnosing each potential issue, tracking down and importing the specific parts needed to fix them. They kept in regular contact with me each step of the process, and kept my car safely stored for the several months it took to get all the necessary parts through customs. Most importantly, they got my car running smoothly for the first time in who knows how many years. I'm not local to the area, so unfortunately I won't be able to be a regular customer, but I will strongly recommend this shop to anyone dealing with JDM import woes. These folks truly love and care about what they do, and I can't thank them enough for their help!

After a quick test drive and inspection. I was told that it was the engine mounts, and perhaps my VTec solenoid might be on its way out. Will be certainly recommending to my friends and family.

I typically do not go out of my way to write a review as most of The reviews always have two sides…read moreof the story. Here is my side of the story. Unfortunately, for the automotive service industry they seem to suffer from a public perception of distrust and company's such as this personify that distrust. Granted there are incredible service shops out there which I've been very fortunate to discover. The specialized transmission repair shop is a little different then a general service shop and have actually discovered that a lot of reputable shops will send their transmission work to a vetted transmission shop. This is a classic bait and switch repair shop. I actually have a written estimate from from one of their lead estimators on the front desk. The initial estimate was $3,295 plus tax, plus they were going to throw in a three-year warranty on all the work. Mind you this is written out and signed by the estimator! I should have known better as the estimate was written out on a post-it, but was informed that the price was pretty solid! I thought that since they specialize in transmissions they would not have an issue with an older (1995 E class) Mercedes, a very standard and not over the top Mercedes. In order for me to feel comfortable with their shop she (the estimator) said to go ahead and bring it in and the transmission specialist would discuss the issues on a test drive and of course this is all at no charge. We should all know better about getting something for free because the value is just that...ZERO! After arriving back at the shop and getting ready to hand the keys to them, I wanted to confirm the price. Imagine my shock when the price suddenly went up $1400 to a total of $4672, this is actually more than the major Seattle Mercedes Benz dealer. I am so glad that they didn't start the work as they would have had the car in pieces and the price would be exponentionally higher than originally quoted! After reading further reviews on the name change and on other sites besides Yelp...we really feel that we dodged a bullet and just want to warn others of the dangers of potentially using this shop. I have taken this car to another major, well respected shop on the Eastside and they have provided a FIRM price (a maximum dollar amount) and is a total rebuild vs installing a rebuilt unit (I was informed by 2 major builders that there are quality control issues with current rebuilt for core units). Anyway, imho you can do a heck of a lot better if you do the research..and hopefully this will help!
