Most all of the employees who work here have been with Covenant since I can remember, which to means a great deal about the work environment. I saw a fellow Yelper's one-star review of this place and how she called them 'less than Christian', and made claims that they do not pay their bills. Huh? Every single morning, before they begin their day, the entire staff joins in a prayer circle to give thanks and prayers for the day ahead. I have witnessed this and was very impressed. Additionally, although it does not happen every single time I visit, I am often asked if I would like them to pray with or for me, about any concerns I'm having in my life. I'm a not a religious person, (I do not adhere to one faith) but I am very spiritual, and have accepted their offer on a number of occasions. At no time did any staff member proselytize, or make me feel uncomfortable about our differences in our spiritual beliefs, so I'm not sure what would look more Christ-like than that - accepting others as they are. Dr Abbo always spends an entire hour with me. The entire hour. Not 5 or 10 minutes. An entire hour.

As such, it requires me to seek some medical attention. Heard about this clinic in Royal Oak and called to get info and possibly make an appointment. The receptionist I spoke with was nice. She informed me that the cost is generally $20-$50 based on your income and family size. That fee would include the office visit and basic labs (urine/bloodwork). I actually worked many years for a community health center down in FL that operates in a similar manner (except in-house labwork there was not normally included in the office visit fee). CCHC also works in conjunction with the Beaumont Health System and if you require, say, something like x-rays, they would refer you there to have them and other discounts may apply depending on the service. For the theoretical x-rays, it would be around a 40% discount. I sort of got set up for an appointment. More so, got put on a waiting list. If someone cancels and a spot opens up, they give me a shout. Apparently this can take 7-10 days or I was advised to call first thing the next morning to check in on any possible/more ASAP openings. Oh well, it's better than nothing or third world country care (i.e., I am grateful this option is available to me and the general public, thus the 3 stars). All my demographic info was taken over the phone and I was advised to bring in a photo ID and proof of income on the day of the appointment. The sliding fee scale is established at that time. CCHC has 3 other locations in the Detroit area (W. Grand Blvd., Michigan Ave., and on Waterman). The Michigan Ave. location offers dental services. Evening hours are also available depending on the location. I will update the review once/if I secure a visit.

So other than feeling self-conscious during the summer and not feeling very good about how my legs looked the pain was a growing issue for me. We discussed the EVLA option and I felt comfortable with Doctor's care. This varicose vein procedure didn't require any kind of surgery (maybe it's newer). The whole visit took about an hour but the treatment was rather quick (about 20 or so minutes). The initial couple weeks after were relatively regular weeks, as they are described in all the EVLA/ EVLT brochures: Bruising, some discomfort (but tolerable), etc. Eventually all the pain went by the wayside and all the bruising is gone.. the stockings too. Bulge removed. Things are good.

It acts up every once in awhile and is horrible. I treat it the same way and in about a week I'm back to normal. This PA would not listen to me. I've been dealing with this for almost 2 decades, trust me I know what works. A muscle relaxer. At times steroids (even though I hate them) and occasionaly a pain patch or pain pill. She was willing to give me ZERO help! I had to ask for an MD, which gave the PA an attitude! The MD was amazing!! Gave me what I needed trusted me to know my body and what worked in the past and sent me on my hobbling way. A day later and I was actually able to sleep lying down. Thank you beautiful MD! I really hope the management staff reads this because the PA (Sarah) really could use some training in bedside manner, learning to trust her patient and she needs to realize not ever one is seeking drugs, and she could use some sensitivity training. When someone goes to urgent care, they're going because they need help. When that person is telling you NSAIDs, heat and ice, stretching, swimming and yoga are NOT working and they are looking to you for alternatives after being awake with pain unable to sit or lay for the past 29 hours and that person can barely move and you tell that patient that all you can offer them at this time is a big fat NOTHING, than 1) you're not doing what my copay and insurance is paying you to do and 2) you're isolsting your self from relationship building with your patients so you'll never get word of mouth referrals or build a positive reputation in your community for yourself because as of now I would ask to only be seen by an MD if and when I ever need to return after the experience I had with this PA. This is advice I will give to everyone asking if I know of an urgent care based off of this experience. That's a genuine concern for me and as a patient and should be a large concern for the management team. As a professional, I'd need this to be addressed. Patient care and relationship building should be equal to listening and trusting your patients. People come there for medication, to be treated and for resolution, not to be discounted and treated like they're wasting the time of the PA, which is exactly how I felt. She was not interested in helping me when I was in serious need of help! That's sad. Outside of this, everything was great! Beaumont, give your newer employees patient care training and celebrate your seasoned professional who really care about listening to the patients needs!
