I'm not sure why some folks are complaining about the Office Staff, they've always done good by me. They're efficient and flexible when I need to reschedule. They processed a refund for me (I'd reached deductible and didn't know it yet) and I got it just fine. The therapist I'm seeing is the best I've ever had and has helped me through some long-standing issues. I had no prior knowledge of this practice and selected them on a whim, but they've done a great job and I have no complaints. Prescription refills are a breeze to get as well. read more

I had medication-management appointments with two different practitioners at this clinic, and both experiences were deeply disappointing. As a grieving mother seeking help after the death of my son, I was hoping for basic empathy and human connection. Instead, I encountered a striking lack of understanding and sensitivity. One practitioner suggested that I read a book about a Holocaust survivor turned psychotherapist. The same practitioner told me that I should try smiling at people when I go out in public. In the context of profound grief, these suggestions felt tone-deaf and inappropriate rather than supportive. What was most troubling was the overall lack of emotional attunement. I did not feel heard or understood, and the care felt impersonal and mechanical. People seeking medication management are often in vulnerable situations. Compassion and thoughtful communication matter just as much as clinical knowledge. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. read more

My family's experience with this office has been overwhelmingly disappointing, and I feel compelled to warn others before they go through what we did. My son was a patient here for several years. Even from the beginning, I had concerns, specifically about one front office staff member whose behavior was consistently rude and unprofessional. My husband, however, spoke highly of Jacqulyn Terry, so we stayed despite my reservations. One early incident should have been our sign to leave. While trying to get my son's prescription filled, I was spoken to in a disrespectful tone, the conversation escalated without cause, and I was ultimately hung up on. When I drove to the office to address it face-to-face, everyone suddenly acted confused and pretended not to know what had happened. I gave the benefit of the doubt and allowed my husband's positive experience with Jackie to guide us. In hindsight, that was a mistake. Fast-forward to just two weeks ago: my son had an appointment, and Jackie was more than 15 minutes late. My husband called the office to let them know he was waiting but would soon have to leave for another obligation. Instead of acknowledging the delay, which was on their end, the staff member warned him that he needed to stay on the call, or he would be charged. He made it clear he would not pay for an appointment that they were late for. He was there on time. He did everything right. A few days later, we received a letter stating that we were being dropped as patients for "too many missed appointments". We have never missed an appointment. Not one. And the most shocking part? Jackie signed off on it. My husband was genuinely stunned because he believed they had built a rapport. I wasn't surprised -- but I was taken aback by the sheer lack of courtesy and professionalism. They didn't even offer one final refill of my son's medication to ensure a safe transition. No communication. No concern. Just a cold letter and a complete cut-off. We were left scrambling to clean up the mess they created, but thankfully, we were able to secure proper care elsewhere quickly. Still, the way this office interacts with a sensitive population is alarming. Patients deserve compassion, transparency, and basic respect. We received none of that. If you read the low reviews and choose to ignore them, you will learn exactly the way we did -- the hard way. In my opinion, this place operates with a level of disregard that is absolutely unacceptable. This place is trash. Steer clear. read more

We had high hopes for going to this place, but our experience turned out to be disappointing. My 16-year-old daughter had to miss her 2nd appointment because of her mental and stomach issues. When my wife called to let them know she couldn't make it, the women told my wife "Well, we will see what Dr. Amann has to say about that", then she hung up on my wife. We were fully aware of a $90 conciliation fee, and I accept that sometimes I have to pay these fee's if my daughter doesn't feel good enough to go. Although $90 is really high for a cancelation fee. A few days later we got a letter saying they were dropping my daughter, leaving us to scramble to find another doctor to administrate her meds. It seems that this place doesn't care about helping teens. read more

This place is a joke. They cancelled an appointment for my daughter because of a 3 year year old balance I didn't know I had. No invoice, no bill had been sent. Can't pay a debt you don't know about. They care more about money than mental health care. Don't go. read more

Initially I found the place efficient. They were able to see my child quickly and get her on a treatment plan. As we continued her treatment, there were two occasions where they terminated my child as a patient. It was odd. This second time around I've decided not to ask them again to continue to see her but to just find a new provider all together. There's something to the facility that I can't quite put my finger on but they've been attempting to rid their facility of me and my child for a while. Even to go as far as to say I hung up the phone on one of them and that was a reason to terminate my child's treatment. That did NOT happen by the way. To terminate a troubled teens treatment without a discussion is not a place I'd want to send my child nor continue treatment! So be advised. read more

Dr. Amann is a thoughtful, knowledgeable and patient practitioner. I love how she types notes during session and has them to refer to at the next appt to chart progress and so we don't forget anything. She really listens to and addresses my concerns and I trust her judgement implicitly. She is always willing to revisit current care to see if other options are available, which tells me she stays current with the most up to date trends. And her office staff is courteous and helpful, always helping me with appointments and rx refills in a timely fashion. Sharon and staff are efficient, have policies and procedures in place for requesting refills, scheduling med checks and new appointments, and staying on top of my insurance and copays. There are no surprises here, follow their procedures and you'll have no problem getting what you need. I also appreciate how Dr. Amann will do telehealth med check appointments (you have to go in person once in a calendar year). Dr. Amann sees several of my family members, and I have referred multiple people who have received timely and compassionate care--we have been BMC patients for over 16 years and I can't imagine seeing anyone else. read more

Finding psychiatric care was challenging in the area because experienced child and teen psychiatrists and therapists are scarce. Bmc is a beautifully decorated comfy office. The receptionists are very kind and helpful. They helped me understand my insurance and billing and work with a payment plan. My family has seen doctors and NP's in the office. All of them answer our questions and thoughtfully advise on medication options. They answer our calls off hours which has been rare other places. They are up to date on the newest medications. We struggled at the pediatrician who does not specialize in our meds. Dr A is very kind, thoughtful and a brilliant class act. White glove service by this staff. We have been here long enough they know us by name. This place is a gem. read more

The quality of care that Karen Teve's-Frazier PMHNP provided regarding medication management was more than I had hoped for. Dr. Tahir is a joke. Jackie the NP was absolutely fantastic but not available when we returned. She became accusatory, and had no conversations when necessary. Nasty person in general. Not up to date with changes in care. Claimed a med for sleep was good enough for anxiety. She should not be allowed to work with teens. Perhaps kids and adults are different, but does not understand the difference in some diagnosis. read more

I had the great opportunity to closely with various staff members at the BMC in Troy. The facility is beautiful, the front desk staff were very warm and welcoming, and The PMHNP I had, Karen Teves-Frazier, was phenomenal! She was very knowledgeable in different mental health disorders, gave great recommendations with education for treatment options specifically tailored to the clients needs. 10/10 would recommend coming here for therapy and medication management. read more

Do not go here. They make so many medication related mistakes, the office is rude and unhelpful, and they don't have any compassion. The mistakes have negatively impacted my life and they've requested prescriptions I don't need and they couldn't be returned which wasted my money. read more

Karen Teves- Frazier is the absolute worst. She has zero empathy, refuses to listen, and is truly unkind. She worked with my daughter for a short time until we realized Karen Teves-Frazier was actually making her worse by her pathetic bedside manner. I wish I would've read previous reviews of her online that have all said similar things of which we experienced first hand. She just doesn't seem stable, and it's baffling to me why she chose this field as she is a pathetic example of a mental health practitioner. read more

I had been going to BMC for years, beginning with Dr, Gresham, a wonderful man. I have never had trouble with most of the (younger) office staff. The rest of them, including Amman and Frazier definitely want to 'see the money' and after Dr. Gresham left it felt as if the money was THE primary interest for this office. I left under unpleasant terms and was astonished at their lack of understanding. I would not recommend the office at all. read more

I made a first appointment with a therapist about a week beforehand. The day of the appointment, I hadnt received a confirmation call so I called that morning just to make sure I actually had the appointment. This detail is important because I arrived for my 4pm appointment about 10 minutes prior to 4 to fill out the necessary paperwork. And a few minutes after I sat down, I heard another woman and her son come in and say they also had an appointment at 4 with the same therapist. This was after I called that morning to confirm! They couldnt figure that out? Instead of dealing with the situation in any way, they asked her and her son to have a seat. This is still prior to 4, when my appointment was scheduled. I sit in the lobby until 4:20 pm, without any of the receptionists saying a word to me about the therapist running late or what is going on with the double booking. All the while I can hear the woman and her son sitting near me complaining about multiple issues they have had at this center with appointments. At 4:20 pm I got up, went to the desk, and told them I was not interested in keeping the appointment any longer. As I find it unacceptable for a new person to be kept waiting without a word said about it for that long. Very unprofessional and would never recommend this facility. Judging from the conversation I overheard, I'm better off. read more

The doctors and therapists are wonderful. They legitimately care about your medical issues, and will work with you to find solutions that work. However, their office procedures are absolutely awful. Once again, I'm calling to see if my refill is ready to be picked up, because they don't call you when it's ready, you just have to show up and if it's ready it's ready and if it's not it's not. Never know if the office is closed for the day, late opening, if anyone's bothered to show up, because the office is supposed open at nine, and they have no posted holiday hours, so desperately trying to get your medication doesn't really work. One would think that if you have to request refill 48 hours in advance, and you were planning on being randomly closed a few days during the week, you might want to call your patient and give them the heads up, but, not this place. I will add that Sharon, The woman who schedules the appointments, is on top of her game, and doesn't know what's going on. She manages to keep track of every patient, and that is not only admirable, but necessary, when the rest of the employees don't know what day of the week it is. Appointments are booking out months in advance, which is frustrating when you need to get in or reschedule. read more

Avoid this practice with all costs. The front office staff is incredibly rude. Our appointment was canceled just prior to us getting to the office, but I never received a phone call, email or text indicating the appointment was canceled. Upon walking into the front door, the receptionist, Liliana, was very rude. She told me I had to be in the wrong building and I couldn't have an appointment because they were not seeing patients in the clinic. She never asked for the patients name. Once I showed her the email confirmation indicating I was in the correct place and I, in fact, did have an appointment she remained rude and argumentative. I had to pull my child out of school early, drive over 50 minutes to the appointment, all for nothing. We will never be back to this location. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE. I went here as a young teen until I was about 19 and drugs were constantly pushed on me. If I even remotely brought up something they would prescribe me a drug for it- regardless if it was something that could be fixed without it. My parents didn't know any better because "it's a doctor telling them". I had a bad therapist experience here as well, but my main concern is that I saw two separate doctors here and both of them pushed drugs on me. I tried upwards of a dozen before we settled on Zoloft. I had some depression issues, but the first answer was always medication. I am 21 now, and finally off them. Coming off Zoloft was one of the most difficult experiences I've ever had. I had been dependent on this medication for 6 years, and so my body had no idea how to function without it. Extreme withdrawals causing me to have to call in sick to work and do nothing but rock back and forth. Since it numbed me so much during critical development (teenage years), since coming off it every emotion feels amplified to where I don't know how to handle them. All of this could have been handled with talk therapy, healthy habits, and then if it didn't work, meds would be a last resort. But BMC pushes drugs, which has taken a huge toll on me. Please, for the love of everything good, if you are looking to help your kid, try other options before going to meds, get them a therapist and try to encourage healthy habits, and avoid this place entirely. The therapy isn't good either. read more

Administratively, this office is terrible. I do not live close and I pick up my prescriptions monthly. One month, they neglected to give me both scripts and I didn't realize until I was almost to the pharmacy. I called them ask asked them to please mail it then. I was driving and had to get to my parents for I was and still am their caretaker, I was working full time too, but their receptionist said she would IF I paid the 15 dollar mail fee. I said, but it is your office's fault? I only heard crickets are on the other end of the line. I told her I would pick it up when I could mostly because of the principle of it. This past weekend, my father died and I left them a voicemail asking them to PLEASE mail my scripts and I would pay the 15 dollar fee when I came in. Well, Katlin from their office left me a voicemail during my Dads gravesite service asking me to call asap to pay the 15 dollar fee so,that she could mail my scripts. I listened to the voicemail two days later which is today and I was stunned. I called today and the woman on the phone said the scripts were never mailed but they would have mailed them for me during such an event...? I told her about my request and the voicemail Imhad gotten but I don't think she was truly listening to me. I live on the Eastside and will go there today to pick my scripts up because I am out of my meds. I had thought since they deal with people who need medicine for behavioral issues that they would be more accomodating and basically more on point but they are not. It is like playing with a loaded gun. I personally have no respect for these individuals who have made it hard for me but it is tough when they are the people who can give you medicine to help you feel ALMOST normal. I will have to begin my search for another center to help me. I am the full time caretaker for my mother now and still have tons to take care of regarding my father's but I can't keep putting myself to the side any further. I really hope it is just me that is getting a bum deal here and not other patients. read more

Dr. Gresham is wonderful. The office staff at BMC is terrible!! They are extremely rude, when you call and leave a message because they don't call back. Very rarely does an actual person answer the phone. I was told by my insurance company that they accepted us. The office staff told us AFTER we saw the doctor that they didn't take our insurance, and they refused to even try and submit to the insurance company. And that I owed them $240 for the visit. I called my insurance company and after investigating not only did they accept my insurance, but would pay the office visit in full. The insurance company issued a check right away. It's been a month since I received the money from the insurance company, I'm still waiting for the Dr's office to pay back their portion. Be on guard if you're planning on seeing a doctor here. read more

Doctor Gresham is a great psychiatrist. He is very prompt, generous, and down to earth.

It took a lot of persuading to get my teenage son to get help for his depression and anxiety, unfortunately his experience with Behavioral Medical Center of Troy left him worse off than when he first visited. Dr. Fraizer seemed to be barely paying attention as my son described his issues, and she promptly loaded him up with meds, so much that he began suffering bouts of serious nausea and vomiting. He switched to Dr. Luria who took him off the meds and had him take a gene test to find the right meds for him. This was logical, but her canceling and re-scheduling of appointments left him hung out to dry with no meds at all for over six weeks. Then, when he finally did get in to see her, she did not even take two minutes to review his chart and had no idea that he was off meds. She then went over the gene test, and was about to prescribe new meds when we discovered she was looking at the test results of a DIFFERENT PATIENT!!! Clueless!! Completely Unprofessional bordering on malpractice, and, frankly, a shit-show at every turn! read more
