The food was decent. Honestly the best I've had in a long time. In Waterford and Pontiac all the Chinese food is heavy, and tastes processed. Here the food was fresh and the meat was excellent. Also got more food than I thought I would for the price. It was cheaper and way more food in the dinner combination than most places. The service was slow, but it was the first snow storm of the season and you could tell they were prepping a lot of food orders. However, it was only. 20 minute wait. So not bad. This review is solely for their wonton soup. My mom gets it for me for my colonoscopy prep. Not only do they separate the broth and wontons for me, the wontons are HUGE, and a pint of soup is only $3.00. (By contrast, I got wonton soup at my local store and it was like $4 with three tiny wontons) On their menu it's described as "Shanghai-style wontons" - not sure what that means, but I'm eating them now and they're delicious. 5 stars for the soup and the customer service. read more

Our go to place for Chinese take out in the Commerce area. 1. No MSG- for those that been following me on yelp. I have no allergies and will eat 99 percent of food. My girlfriend has sensitivity to MSG. This place doesn't use the stuff. She's happy...I'm happy. 2. Speedy- from calling to pick up is usually 20-30 mins. By the time I arrive I just pay and take home the food. 3. The plexiglass- separates the cashier from the public. Keeps the staff safe. 4. The food- generous portions and delicious. Not going to be the best Chinese meal...but they do a good job. Good enough to keep the family happy. My go to meals- General Tao's and Egg Foo Yong. Best in the area for me. 5. My personal favorite local place for Chinese food. I order the generals tso chicken every time. The sauce is a bit more on the sweeter side (which I like) but you can always spice it up a bit. This is a pretty good Chinese take out restaurant. The menu offered lots of choices (not reduced due to CV). Our food was hot and tasty. My wife has the Special House rice with spring rolls and I had the Mongolian chicken. Large portions good for 2 meals. Kuddos to the person taking the menu information over the phone. She expertly guided my wife to the correct rice and had our order ready precisely on time. I was visiting a friend at a convalescent home near the corner or Drake and Maple Roads and he asked me to bring him some Chinese food. So we decided to have lunch together and I opened up Google Earth and looked for restaurants close to his location. I found Maple Chinatown just west of Rt. 5 right off Maple Road and just north on Welch Road. They had a website and it looked a lot like a takeout joint, so that fit with my needs and decided to give it a try. The small restaurant is in a strip mall with parking right out front. It is primarily a takeout place, but they do have some tables too so you can eat there if you wish. When I go to a new Chinese takeout place, I don't expect much and I usually do not take a lot of chances. So I ordered what my friend wanted for him and that was General Tso's Chicken and I just got an order of Roast Pork Egg Foo Young for me. I also ordered a couple of Egg rolls too. The food was pretty good. The full order of Egg Foo Young was still hot and tasty when I got to the convalescent home and the sauce which was served up in a separate container was hot too. It came with a nice side order of steamed white rice. The Egg Rolls were nicely loaded with chicken meat and surprisingly were not greasy at all. My friend enjoyed his G T chicken and I must say, it was a very generous portion. He couldn't even finish it. It also came with a side of steamed white rice. They also offer combination plates which are probably smaller and definitely cost less too. Now I put this kind of a place in the "fuel" category and not the "cuisine" category, but it was tasty fuel, reasonably priced and it was all made fresh to order. There is no steam table at this place. They also advertise healthy cuisine and minimize the amount of oils they use and they use no MSG. That did come through in the final product. Nothing was greasy and there was none of that telltale MSG aftertaste either. The menu itself, which you can see on their website, including the prices, has a wide variety of all the Americanized Chinese standards, and they do have some of the hot stuff on the menu. Those spicy dishes are marked with a chili pepper. Because the young lady at the cash register was probably not a native English speaker, she was a bit shy and did not converse very much. In fact, her manner was kind of cold. A smile would have gone a long way here, but I never saw one from her either to me or the others that had placed takeout orders. She was not unfriendly. She just was not particularly friendly either. But we enjoyed our repast and it didn't cost a lot either. read more

There I was a non Christian in Christmas want something for me and my family to eat. We decídase to order Chinese food and to be completely honest it most Chinese places were packed. We decided to order food and they told us it would be 2 hours which is reasonable. 3 hours later I am still waiting and it will be at least 20 minutes more but I can't even be certain about that. All I want is honesty and I want to know when my food will arrive but I'm here starving on the night of Christmas. I pray for a Christmas miracle but it may not come. We frequent China Town about three to four times per month. It is a family run Chinese take out restaurant that also has a dine in option. Outside of Friday or Saturday around dinner you can sit down no problem. Most guests (including myself) opt for takeout. Today I ordered the general tzo dinner combination (rice and eggroll). I went with white rice over the fried rice the combo usually comes with. I was told it would be ready in ten minutes and it was ready by the time I got there fifteen minutes later. When I got home I was very pleased, lots of food for about $9. Broccoli appeared freshly steamed, fresh sticky white rice, crispy eggroll, and way more chicken than I could possibly eat. This place is usually our go to every Christmas so I hate to write a bad review - but This year, I pre ordered 3hrs in advance for pick up through DoorDash knowing that wait times can be very busy for this place on Christmas Day and we were going to be in a show where we cannot call ahead. My order was confirmed and I paid through the app, arrived at the restaurant at the provided time window only for them to say they don't have my order and they meant to disable DoorDash for the day. Great place for a laxative! Ordered carry out through door dash. I ordered the beef with green bean combination. I wrote that I would like it made with brown sauce. After we placed the order, the restaurant called us and asked us about the brown sauce. We explained we wanted made with brown sauce instead of white sauce. She asked if we wanted it in the side. We said no. Then she said it would cost $1 more to make it with brown sauce, we said fine. The food comes and the brown sauce was almost non existent, there were maybe 4 pieces of beef and an obnoxious amount of green beans. The crab Rangoon tasted sour and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend was up with diarrhea from it all night. The wonton soup was good and the fortune cookies had interesting fortunes. I've eaten at this place multiple times and more often than not it's been a pleasant experience. Recently, they made some changes to their menu and got rid of their chicken lettuce wraps aka MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE THING THEY HAD. Huge bummer for me!!! Aside from that, I've tried a little bit of everything on the menu. Chicken dishes are good, noodle dishes are a little bland, 95% sure their bourbon chicken is actually pork, and their "spicy" items are more on the medium/mild side in my opinion, BUT I am a fan of very spicy food so I my review could be a little skewed there. Staff is relatively friendly. I will say, for some reason I have always been afraid to look into their kitchen and this fear was reinforced just the other day when I witnessed one of the cooks arranging food in a takeaway container with his bare hands. While the food is good , the service is lacking. One person answering phones and ringing up customers. When you tell me 30 minutes and then I have to wait another 15 minutes with others in your lobby with Covid , I won't be back. There was probably 5 people waiting for their food. We all tried to social distance but this is unacceptable. I can understand waiting a couple of minutes if order isn't ready but 15 minutes for a total of 45 wait time is terrible l. The lady server finally came out and after we pointed to the table we wanted, she came back and cleaned it off. After we were seated she asked us what we would like to drink but had not given us a menu. She then came back with two waters. She seemed unpleasant. Later, we realized this might have been because she and her co-workers were about to eat dinner. The food was fresh, especially the vegetables. I had the Singapore rice noodles. The dish tasted bland but it was cooked well. I thought it should be spicy, but perhaps they do not do them that way here. My wife had the Szechuan chicken. Her food was seasoned well, probably mild spicy. (the server did not has how spicy to make it.) After eating, we waited ages until the staff finished eating then we asked for boxes for our leftovers. If you order General Tao's chicken, or any other battered and fried meal, I encourage you to cut each piece in half before you eat it. Keep track of the number of pieces which are chicken and those which are nothing but batter or filling. The ratio of actual chicken meat to batter rivals that of Burger King's chicken fries before they discontinued serving them. The fried rice leaves something to be desired as well. OMG! This was the best Chinese I've had in a long time! We ordered the sesame chicken and Mongolian beef. Both were out of this world. We order spicy and extra spicy they could use a little more spice for my tongue but my lips were tingling with excitement and by buds were happy with the sweet and savory flavors. So I gave this place two tries for carryout because it's one of the few Chinese restaurants that offers tofu for its vegetarian entrees. The first time I got Szechuan vegetables and tofu. It was denoted on the menu as spicy but when I got it, it was bland. Being that my husband loves Chinese, I decided to give it one more try because I thought maybe it'd be a fluke. I ordered the happiness mapo tofu black bean paste(the only other spicy veggie entree). Hubby got home, I opened it up and it was a bunch of raw tofu cubes that were sitting in congealed brown sauce(looked like the liquid in wet cat/dog food and didn't smell much better).
