Over 2 years ago we came to this neighborhood gem and raved about how much we loved the place, despite being covid times. Fast forward to August 2024, a little over 2 years later and we came back. I don't think the prices went up (maybe a few bucks), the Covid plexiglass was gone, and people were seated more closely than last time. We think the menu is eclectic but we decided to stick with the German food. Instead of the pork shank I had last time, I tried the weiner schnitzel, with spatzle as my side and pumpkin soup as my starter. Soup was delicious (still loved my cream of broccoli last time). My entree unfortunately was underwhelming. For a quintessential German dish, I think it missed the mark. Stephen had the veal bratwurst and had half sauerkraut and half spatzle. He had no complaints. We shared a side dish of red cabbage, which is amazing! We came for Stephen's birthday and last time they gave a tiny little mousse with a candle to acknowledge the birthday. This time? We just got the check. A bit disappointed but my review doesn't reflect this. Service was ok. The restaurant had one server and one young lady as the water girl/ bus person, so I understand if they were running behind in things, like she forgot Stephen's beer twice, where even the water girl commented if we wanted another drink. It took a while to pay the check; we were going to pay with a card but ended up putting a $100 bill on the table, which more than covered the food and at least 20% tip. A bit disappointed with the second visit. I don't think it'll stop us from going back... we'll just lower our expectations. Last time it was a 5/5 This time? 3-1/2

So good that we are there last night and turned around and ate here again tonight. Their German food is as good as we have had anywhere. Excellent food. Great service. Family owned and operated.

Wow, you would absolutely never know this was here if you were driving by! Don't judge a book by its cover on this one. In little Cornville, off the main road, in an unassuming and (honestly) plain looking white building with purple awnings is this awesome restaurant. Go inside and the decor is romantic, dark and candle lit. The menu has interesting items that you can't find anywhere else (authentic German specialties, elk steak, bison, prime rib, antelope, etc). The service is friendly and attentive. I got the elk steak with veggies and a dinner salad with raspberry vinegarette, and a sangria. The sangria was delicious, topped off with champagne. I could have drank three! My boyfriend got the pumpkin bisque with the prime rib and whipped potatoes, with a martini. Both of us loved our dishes. I had some of his soup, and it was so warm and aromatic and lovely, I almost regretted my salad, my elk steak was cooked perfectly and I absolutely loved the cherry sauce. I would absolutely go back!

Brat bites. So flavorful

Haven't been in a few years. The appetizer was very delicious, very flavorful and delicious caramelized onions. One person at the table had the manzanita drink and she enjoyed it The fresh warm bread and butter is delicious and the garlic basil butter will have you asking for more! The main dishes the filet mignon was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Another person had a seafood special and didn't think it was very flavorful. Another person had the bison and thought it was delicious! Service was outstanding! 110%. The ambiance is a little dark and small and Quaint. We will be back

Bison Osso Buco

Manzanita may be the top restaurant experience I've ever had. I tried new things and enjoyed every single bite. highly recommend: - Escargot (best escargot I've had - we dipped bread in the remaining garlic herb sauce) - Pumpkin soup - Bison osso buco (it was on special) - schweinshaxe (huge amount of meat, and so delicious) - lemon spongecake (best lemon dessert I've ever had) How do they get their brown bread so soft? And the butter they serve with it! The alligator bites were also delicious, and I would definitely get them again, but it's also a fun novelty :) The service was caring and incredible. Extremely attentive and took the time to make sure we were well taken care of. Didn't rush us even though we were there far past closing! Cornville is full of gems, and this one shines brightest. Can't wait to come back!

Riesling wine

Highly recommend! A non de script restaurant in Cornville. Inside, fine dining at its best! Raspberry vinaigrette in the salad was insane; if I had a swimming pool of this nectar, I would dive head first. Clam chowder was tomato base and bursting with flavor. Weiner schnitzel was moist, crispy and spot on. The side of sauce (Jagermeister story) for the schnitzel was fantastic. Drank two glasses of wine; Riesling and Chardonnay. Baked Brie!!!! Don't skip it!!!

I've been in Cornville for 4-1/2 years and came here for the first time about a year ago. My review was based off the entire party. This time it's just me. I came for the olive medley app which is an amazing concoction of imported olives, sundried tomato, artichoke hearts, fresh herbs and lovely mild goat cheese. It's served warm with buttered and toasted baguettes and the entire app is absolutely sublime. Learned today it develops from a recipe in California! Tastes like it! I also had the rigatoni with spicy Italian sausage. Large portion (half is dinner later) with toasted bread and fresh Parmesan. The marinara is hit with fennel and tomato bits, so much flavor and the sausage has just the right spice. The sur andes Malbec was the perfect wine. They have a very impressive and extensive wine list, great price points. The restaurant is set above Oak Creek, hence Up the Creek. Ample windows provide bird watchers beautiful views of Cornville natural wildlife. Prices are better than Sedona and this place, while off the beaten path, is every bit Sedona-worthy! Another little hidden gem I'm grateful to live close to.

Once we arrived it was such an awesome experience. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. I liked that they offered is to chose where we wanted to be seated. It was a lovely day, so we chose outside. The patio was a nice size with beautiful plants and flowers all around. The seating was comfortable and I was very glad to be comfortable outside to have lunch. The wait staff was excellent. I forgot the ladies name who seated us but she was super friendly. Our waiter Nathan was training Eric and they were both very nice. Nathan gave a breakdown of the specials and suggested a few of his favorites. My friend is gluten sensitive and Nathan made.sure to advise her of the GF menu options. I ordered the Goat Cheese Brie which was amazing. I could have eaten that as my meal. I've never had anything so delicious. For my entree I ordered the Desert Blue Burger and it was excellent. It came out beautifully plated and was served hot and fresh. The fries were piled high on the plate, so needless to say the portions were plenty. I look forward to returning to try more of the menu items.

Food was all cooked perfectly so no complaints on that and highly recommend those. The chef was absolutely ON POINT and really the only reason I rated so high. However, the service was horrible. We came to Sedona to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. It was a big deal so we wanted to have a really nice dinner to celebrate. Made reservations at 7:15 about 2 weeks before we arrived. In those we let them know we were celebrating and we asked for a nice view if possible. We arrived for dinner at 7:12 and it was packed. We had to stand by the door waiting for a table for about 30 mins which I know it's busy so we were willing to be patient but that was just the start to the awful hospitality. Once they finally did sit us down, they gave us a table in the back of the restaurant next to the bathroom so quite literally the worst view but again, we were willing to be forgiving. (I've been in the industry for 8 years so I get how it is and I try my best to be aware of the situation.) Waiter comes over to say a quick/not very warm hello and says what do you want. We order the apps and ask sweet wine recommendations to pair with the oysters. He had no idea, and had to look at the menu and basically read to us what we could read for ourselves. Didn't seem like he really knows the menu that well. We wait a bit for the drinks and he brings the bottle of wine over without an ice bucket. He lets my husband taste it (kind of ignored me and didn't let me taste it too which was weird) and we just kept the bottle bc we knew service was being slow and we didn't want to wait for another. We asked him for an ice bucket and he never brings it over, we ended up having to ask the manager to bring it over finally so our white wine doesn't get warm. While we were waiting for apps for some reason the manager randomly took our plates and silverware from the table so when the apps came we had to ask another worker (not our server or the manager) if we could have those back. The server did check in on us but we felt so rushed the whole time. Asked us while we were eating apps twice if we were ready to order dinner and we just wanted to enjoy our night. The third time he asks us what we want (we were still eating apps) I was literally looking at the menu to decide and he was like "are you ready now?". Sir I am literally reading the menu right now. So I rushed my order and thank god the food was amazing or else I would have been livid. Finally the dinner comes out and we start enjoying that glorious/lifesaving food. While my husband had finished eating and they cleared his plate, I was still eating and the server comes over and asks if we want desert. We say no (woulda said yes if the service was better) and then he immediately says "ready for the check then?". Note I am STILL EATING and we have half a bottle of wine left. We just felt so rushed it was awful. And they didn't mention anything about our anniversary, which just shows awful hospitality. We had to ask him for the specials because he "forgot to tell us". Like we are spending a lot of money for great food but also great service and ambiance of a restaurant. It just seemed like operations weren't coherent and everyone seemed stressed. Again I had been a server for 8 years, I know how it goes. But that is no excuse for rushing us. And it's not like we were taking a long time. They just don't know how to take reservations, have hospitality, or handle a rush properly. I just wanted to feel special since we were having a special day. Most places offer free dessert or something or at least a note or at least a server with some personality. He was very abrasive and we didn't feel very welcome or like he appreciated our business at all.

We ended up sitting outside, and I loved that the patio was covered and equipped with heaters, which made it cozy even with the weather acting up a bit. It was lightly sprinkling, and we did get a few drops here and there, but honestly, it didn't take away from the experience. Now let's talk about the food--absolutely delicious. The deviled eggs were generously stuffed and beautifully presented, which made them just as enjoyable to look at as they were to eat. We shared the filet mignon, served with mushroom risotto, and wow... it was completely out of this world. Perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. We paired it with the honey garlic carrots, and they were the perfect balance of sweet and savory--definitely a standout side. I also ordered a smoked blueberry sour cocktail, and it was so good--unique, refreshing, and well-crafted. Service was solid and consistent throughout the meal. Nothing over-the-top, but everything came out smoothly and as expected. Overall, this spot really delivered--from the ambiance to the flavor-packed dishes. I'd absolutely come back again.

Whether you choose indoor or outdoor seating, the experience feels thoughtfully curated from start to finish. On chilly Sedona evenings, they even offer blankets outside, which adds such a warm and welcoming touch. The food? Absolutely extraordinary. Fresh is an understatement here -- every ingredient tastes vibrant, intentional, and beautifully sourced. Even the vegetables somehow steal the spotlight. The menu is creative without trying too hard, and everything feels like edible art while still being deeply satisfying. The pizzas are phenomenal, especially the peach pizza, which balances sweet, savory, fresh, and smoky flavors perfectly. The hamburgers are equally impressive -- juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with the same level of care as everything else on the menu. If they have specials running, order one. Trust me. This is the kind of kitchen where the chefs know exactly what they're doing. Hands-down one of my favorite restaurants not only in Arizona, but honestly anywhere. The whipped feta app is delicious, and the smoked salmon burrata is a must! I must credit our server, Kayla. As she was explaining the entree menu, she placed our app order in the meantime and they came out to the table in less than 5 minutes. Service was incredibly fast. Our main entrees came out very quick as well. My mom ordered the half rack of ribs, which is really like a full rack- FYI, and said they were just okay. She loved the French fries and the coleslaw. I had the baked stuffed shrimp. It was pretty good, just too much sauce for me personally. I would've loved to have been able to taste the crab stuffed shrimp better with lighter / lesser amount of sauce, but the pesto fettuccine which came alongside was phenomenal. My dad ordered the salmon, which he said was really good. My parents and I both rated this restaurant A- / B+.
