This is hands-down the best high-end Italian restaurant in the Verde Valley. It is clear how much love the Chef, Juan-Carlos, has put into the place. The artwork shipped from Sicily, the sparkling silverware, and above all: the food! It all begins with a warm herb bread served with a classic olive oil dip. Then, I usually get the Shrimp Scampi and it has never let me down. The shrimp is perfectly cooked, adding a rich flavor to fresh pasta. The server, Pablo, was also very attentive and had great recommendations, including a lemon cake that my parents, who normally don't like lemon flavored deserts, loved. The star of the show, ***The food was amazing*** We didn't have to wait for a table with minimal warning of needing a table. We called 10 minutes ahead and our table was ready 15 minutes later. Service was awful. Our server left our water glasses empty 3x during the meal and I asked for a soda but never got it. The server seemed preoccupied without obvious congestion in the restaurant. Otherwise flawless presentation and taste. We had a trio of seafoods fried as an appetizer special with shrimp clams and calamari and we shared the shrimp scampi. Stopped in for early dinner on an overcast Sunday. First time visit. Surprised by the lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and delicious food. The best Chicken Piccata I have ever had. My husband really enjoyed the braised pork shank and accompanying potatoes. Certainly a 5 star meal but the price was a bit surprising for Camp Verde as mentioned in a few reviews. I imagine this feels a bit like crawling through the desert on your last few steps before dehydration only to stumble upon an oasis. Moscato was recommended to us by friends while we VRBO'ed in Cottonwood. I looked at the drive and my buddy said "just go". We did and all I can say is WOW. Many others have talked a lot about the food so I'll stop here but don't hesitate to try and get in this place. It is a such a pleasant surprise. The waiter informed me that there are a couple of menus out only one that is correct is their website direct not google. He was kind enough to adjust the price by five dollars. The salad was wonderful. The salmon was supposed to be in a cream sauce. It was more just like a liquid, and the salmon had bones all in it. The bread was an all bread with very little seasoning. No One Greeted Us At The Door; We Were Just Given A Puzzled Look As If We Didn't Belong There. I Let Them Know We Had A Reservation, But The Host Told Us Our Table Wasn't Ready Yet And We Could Wait Outside On The Patio. That Was Fine, But When We Asked If We Could Grab Drinks From The Bar To Take Outside, We Were Told The Bar Was "Reserved" Even Though No One Was Sitting There And That A Server Would Come Out To Take Our Drink Order. No One Ever Came. We Didn't Get Seated Until Sometime After 6:30, And Even Then, It Took Another 10-15 Minutes Before Anyone Came By To Even Take Our Drink Orders. One Of The Drinks We Ordered Was A Tito's And Tonic. It Was Made Incorrectly (It Was Just Vodka, No Tonic) And Took So Long To Arrive That It Hardly Seemed Worth It To Say Anything. We attended a dinner in the wine room on Saturday night and for a number of reasons were so very disappointed. Service was very slow, especially when it came time to figure out the bill. With a group of 14 the server and or the owner who arrogantly came into the room and let everyone know that he was the owner should have the conversation ahead of time with the guests or the person that made the reservation about how the bill was going to be settled. It took over 45 minutes after a three hour dinner to figure this out. The special duck dish was rubbery and flavorless. Several of the other dishes, including the mahi-mahi were unimpressive as well. The one stand out dish was the Burata appetizer. The tomatoes were beefy and tasty. The owner stood and smiled at everyone as if he was the king as we departed. In the area visiting the Tourist sites in and around Fort Verde and stoped here for Lunch. What an incredible find without knowing anything about the Restaurant. We sat inside in the small Bar area but never felt crowded. My wife has Gluten Intolerance so eating in an Italian Restaurant is always a challenge. But to our surprise, they offered Gluten Free Pasta dishes and it was awesome. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and full of information about the area and Restaurant. When the food arrived, it was incredibly good. I highly recommend this wonderful Restaurant if you are ever in the area. It's worth the time to get off the I17 and visit Fort Verde. read more
