We arrived to this restaurant with walking distance of the Hampton Inn around 5 p.m. on a Friday night. There were a few people in the bar area and we were promptly escorted to our table in an area with 4 tables. The place quickly filled up. Our server was perky and attentive. We walked from the hotel in 19% so were chilled. My husband ordered coffee but there was no other nonalcoholic drink option. The server suggested hot water with lemon slices and boy did that hit the spot. We were served complimentary homemade tortilla chips with a tasty salsa. I started with their soup of the day which was Pozole Rozo. I did not detect meat in This soup but it had plenty hominy and flavor. It hit the spot on a cold winter evening. I followed that up with Manny's Fiesta Salad with the Cajun Shrimp. I was happy the ranch dressing was on the side as I added a couple tablespoons and dumped the rest of salsa on top. The lettuce was crisp and I enjoyed the jicama which added an extra crunch. The 6 blacken shrimp were perfectly done. My husband ordered The Seven Seas Burrito which he said was excellent. He was happy when he came to the end of the Brito and found a scallop. This burrito must have been heavier on the shrimp and mahi mahi. Non the less he enjoyed his meal. We will be back next year for a convention, staying at the same hotel and will most likely come Back and try more items. Our bill came to $51 before tip which was not too bad considering the soup, coffee and two entrees. We just travels from vacation in FL and 4 days in TN so comparing prices they are right in line with other restaurants. read more

Took my sister in law to Manny's for her birthday lunch. It's usually packed so we wanted to try it out and unfortunately it was very disappointing. Service was good. Drinks were ok. The salsa and guac was by far the best part of everything. I ordered the tacos because i know you can't mess up tacos. My SIL got the chicken chimichanga. My tacos were disappointing as nothing was authentic about it. The meat portion was great, however, flavor was not there. Onion and Cilantro was cut way too big and hot sauce was $2 extra. Like cmon, hot sauce for tacos are a given. Any extra charge for something when it should be a part of the meal as condiment. That was a huge surprise and bummer on our bill. The chimi was bland as well. Beans were ok. Rice was bland. $80 later and we were still hungry and went home disappointed that nothing was up to par besides the appetizers. Definitely don't be returning. For the price and lack of spice and extra charge for sauce is not worth it.. read more

A girl at the hotel I'm staying at recommended this when I asked for a good Mexican spot. Cece our server was super sweet and attentive. The food was very flavorful and the drinks were huge. Well, this was an unexpected stop, so I figured, why not give it a try. The ambiance inside was very posh, yet still had that Tex-mex feel. It almost felt like they are having an identity crisis with who or what they want to be? On one hand, they have very nice decor and the swag to match, on the other hand, it seems a little awkward, not sure, just my take. The bar area was nice (where I sat), there was also some nice patio dining. The bartender was very nice and attentive (of course I was the only person at the bar, so there's that) On to the food, ordered the shredded beef chimichanga. All meals come with chips and salsa, they were great. The chips have this ranchero-like seasoning, which is nice. A little heat, yet, just right. The salsa I had was mild, though you can ask for hot. The chimichanga was presented nicely with a soft yet flaky shell. It was well overpacked with beef, I thought maybe they had an extra cow to use up, but I digress. You'll get your money's worth in beef for sure. They add rice and sour cream sauce as accouterments. However, I think it was very bland. Not a hint of seasoning on the beef or rice, in fact, the best seasoning was on the chips! This was a disappointment, especially with the price point they were at... again struggling with identity! I hadn't been to Manny's for a few years and when a few friends and I met for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was not very busy. The lights are low, place felt clean and the style is traditional/rustic. We ordered two mixed drinks and a beer that took a bit to come out. The complementary chips and salsa did not arrive for a bit after that. We weren't in a rush didn't mind but our server didn't come back for quite a while to take our order. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was of is high-quality. Everyone enjoyed the meal, nobody raved. The prices are higher than similar restaurants in the area. We all enjoyed our food, but our server was just not very attentive and since prices higher i would likely dine elsewhere next time. read more

First time here. They have happy hour specials Monday-Saturday 3-6pm. We tried the (choose beef or chicken) nachos $10 and margaritas $8. Husband and I went yesterday... our seafood nachos were delicious per usual. He ordered the kabobs, and I ordered Garlic Lovers shrimp. I took my first bite of shrimp and realized it was butterflied but still in the shell. I had to spit it into a napkin. My mouth was full of shell. I tried scraping the shrimp out, but the thick, dry parmesean heap made it very difficult as well as how dark it was in the restaurant. I've never had shrimp served cut in half with the entire shell attached. The server didn't come back to our table, so I didn't have the opportunity to inquire or exchange. I simply could not eat the meal we paid for. Haven't had good service or food last few visits prompting this review. I want to love Manny's, but I can't. read more

I've tried their food 4 times and have been disappointed all 4 times. I was there on Wednesday night. Had the shrimp fajitas, cuz who can really screw that up? Apparently, the answer is Manny's. The shrimp were served tail on and were rubbery and over cooked. The fajitas had no flavor. Personally I cook no salt added, most places I deal with food being too salty. Manny's used to be very good back in the day but unfortunately has gone steadily downhill. The last few times I've eaten there, the food has been awful (fish dish tasting like it was cooked in old/stale oil; salad tasting like the ingredients had turned sour). Additionally, the service is slow (most recently it took an hour to get our food -- despite being the first table to sit down, we were the last to get our food), and it does not seem that the management team values customer experience/satisfaction. Finally, it is expensive -- even without drinks a meal for four is typically over $100, and it is between $150-$200 for 4 meals and one drink per person -- this lack of quality and care is simply unacceptable, especially at this price point. read more

Careless, mendacious, uninformed, deadly. Decided to try out this restaurant for a date night and things started out pleasant enough but quickly went downhill when I asked about the specials and then asked our waitress for a recommendation between the two. She recommended the sea bass and raved about how good it was and that it was one of her favorite dishes. I clearly asked if it contained shellfish and stated I had a serious allergy. She assured me the dish was shellfish-free. Halfway through my meal I came across a piece that was not the texture of flaky fish. I scraped the sauce off the top of the fish to discover little pink disks that turned out to be shrimp. On the discovery we beckoned the waitress over to show her the shrimp. She swore she didn't know and removed my plate then disappeared. As my throat started closing we tried to find her to check out so we could go. They ended up deducting the cost of my meal but when addressed to the manager he was very dismissive and basically placed the blame on the waitress. The carelessness and menu ignorance could have cost me my life. Never again and shame on them. read more

Some of the worst service I have ever received. It took 2 hours for our table to get chips and queso, some tacos, and seafood nachos. The food was mediocre at best (perhaps the food was sitting on the counter forever) which was quite disappointing considering the price. At one point our server hadn't been to our table for over a half hour, so I had to get up and hunt them down. They were sweeping up an empty room in the back, so clearly taking care of customers was not a priority. We finally were able to get the manager to speak with us, and told us he was sorry that a party of 20 was there and that's why it took so long. Even so, does it really take 2 hours to get a chips and queso and about 45 minutes to get drinks? While I get things happen, he was pretty dismissive of our complains and told us our wait "wasn't really that bad". The majority of the restaurant was empty, so it's interesting that such a large place doesn't have the kitchen capacity to handle the size. We were told we were getting some form of a discount for the poor experience, but nothing ended up happening. I'm sure the restaurant has better nights and definitely has a large and unique menu, but our experience this particular night was incredibly poor. read more

This is a hidden gym here in La Crosse Wisconsin. I ordered the Ultimate Fajita and my wife ordered the grilled Sword Fish, both were delicious. We also had chips, salsa and gracamole which were amazing. We depart this area permanently next week so it wouldve been great to have found this two years ago. If the owners read this, one of the best things you can do is advertise from the interstate (I90). I say much about the decor because it was amazing as well. read more

Went there for the first time today. Nice enough decor and laid out fairly well. When the chips and salsa came, I found the salsa to be just okay but very fresh. I had the specialty burrito, with the Al Pastor pork. It's huge! Decent flavor, but found some of the meat to be kinda gristly. The rice on the side tasted a bit old, and the spice profile was a bit lacking. I do intend to go again and try a few more things. Service was good and very prompt. My only real complaint, was the thumping and overly loud half assed hip hop music playing over the sound system. We dined at Manny's for the first time. The service was exceptional. Elvis, our waiter was wonderful. I started my dinner out with "The Boss". It was so smooth. We ordered Seafood Fajitas for our entrees. Elvis brought us chips and freshly made salsa to enjoy with our drinks while our food was prepared. It was worth every minute of the wait. Our food was delicious. The fajitas was filled with large scallops, shrimp, mahi-mahi, onions, peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes. The fajitas we more food than I could eat, but there was more, much more...beans, rice, guacamole and tortillas. This was truly a feast for $20.00 Mexican food not your pleasure? I had the absolute worst meal in La Crosse here today. I ordered an enchilada bowl- I asked our server how it came( rice, beans etc). He didn't know so he checked with the manager. He came back and told me it came on top of rice and beans. I ordered the enchilada bowl. It came out and it was a corn tortilla, layers with shredded chicken and cheese then lettuce and tomato on top. No sauce, no rice and no beans. I asked why there were no beans and rice- he didn't know and offered to bring me some. I had three bites and it was absolutely flavorless. No texture and no spice or flavor whatsoever. I asked for hot sauce in hopes it would add flavor- our waiter told us they charge for hot sauce. I was done. They also charge $6 for chips and salsa. I will never step foot in that place ever again, or suggest to my huge culinary family and fellow business owners to ever go.
