As somebody who tailors all his clothes I needed to find a place closer to my home as my guy is in TriBeCa and sometimes I need things done within a short timeframe. I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the services provided by Manny's Dry Cleaners and to advise others to steer clear of this place. The alterations they performed on my clothes were nothing short of a disaster. After waiting for a whole week, I finally received my items back, only to find that they looked as if they were sewn by a five-year-old. First and foremost, the hemming work was abysmal. It was embarrassingly uneven, with visible inconsistencies throughout. It's as if they didn't even take the time to measure properly or use a straight line. The lack of attention to detail was truly appalling. To make matters worse, the stitching on the alterations didn't even match the original stitching of the garments. It was clear that no effort was made to ensure a seamless blend between the old and new stitching. The end result was an eyesore that made me question their professionalism and competence. What frustrated me the most was their lack of accountability. Despite bringing these issues to their attention, they offered no solutions or attempts to rectify their mistakes. Mannys cleaners is one of the worst places that I have ever been. They charged me to patch up jeans 15 dollars PER patch and claimed I needed 3 patches. When I inspected the jeans they only put 2 patches on the guy argued with me for 20 minutes and finally claimed he was giving me a "discount" by taking off a charge for a patch that wasn't put on. They charged various prices for the same items and claimed I had extra beads or buttons so the price of the sweater tripled I was charged 25 dollars for ONE sweater and then 17 dollars for 2 sweaters. Overall this place is a scam 200 dollars later! Never going there again, and I wouldn't recommend! Stay away! read more

I've been searching for another neighborhood cleaners since mid-year 2022. I finally decided to give Manny's cleaners a try toward the end of December of that year, since I always pass by while walking down Austin Street. I stopped in with, among two other items to be dry cleaned, a quality new yellow wool sweater that's been worn only a few times. The day after I picked up my clothes, I removed the plastic protector and immediately discovered a large damaged piece of fabric near the top right button of my wool sweater - It looked like someone rubbed that part excessively, almost as if to treat it (the way you do before putting clothes in a washing machine.) Not only that, but I also found 3 pulls around the sweater. None of the damage was there before I dropped my clothes off. I was HORRIFIED! I returned to the cleaners very upset, and spoke with both Manny and Rafael. I asked: "WHAT HAPPENED?!" Manny gave me a number of lame, oddball excuses that made no sense; it's difficult to even relay the excuses due to their EASL. One of the excuses from Manny was: "Maybe it's moths." I told them we do NOT have a moth problem. I told Manny and Rafael that the sweater was new, and asked at least for a refund. They refused. With no options, I left very disappointed. As I turned toward the door, they both said almost simultaneously: "OK, have a nice evening." I looked at them like, WHAT?? I walked out saying sarcastically: "REMIND ME NEVER TO COME HERE AGAIN." I brought them a black wool peacoat to be dry cleaned. When I got it back there were either bleach or burn marks along the sleeve, the tip of a lapel and under the collar. When I brought it back I was told that they cleaned it and when they took off "the white stuff," (lint) that it was already there. The exterior of the coat is ruined and they refused to accept any responsibility. Even though I did purchase the coat two days before I brought it to them, I had it in my house and in my hands. I removed a patch from it with a seam ripper. There is NO WAY I wouldn't have seen this, and lint certainly was not hiding it. I took my four shoes and one jacket there, and wanted it in three days because I would have a flight by then. The owner said OK and charged me $115 dollars. I think if the shoes and clothes can be clean, the high price is fine. However, to my surprise, when I took the shoes, I found my shoes were even dirtier than before. I admit the time period was really short but if the shop could not clean it up, the owner should tell me when I took my shoes there. It is the most basic manner. When I complained and asked for a refund or at the very least a discount they refused, in fact gave me one dollar off the total ($19 to dry clean the dress) which was absolutely insulting. They have now lost a life long customer over $18, I will be using Maryfield cleaners from now on. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT submit your UGGS here to be cleaned EVER! The Ugg boots my underaged daughter gave in for cleaning were in great condition and Mannys cleaners gave them back to her SHRUNKEN. The boots, which were fairly new, are basically now unusable - my daughter is not able to fit her feet through the seams because whatever chemical or thermal treatment was used completely shrunk and deformed the boots. After multiple attempts to get money back or have them fix the issue, apparently the boss is never around and they are not able to "do anything". This place is a shame to the neighborhood and a ripoff! Shame on you for scamming teenage kids, taking their hard-earned money and ruining their only winter boots! Took a very expensive coat here for dry cleaning. Once I picked the coat up, and upon inspecting the coat, I noticed damages to my coat. The owner refused to take responsibility for the damages and even got loud and aggressive with me. He suggested I take him to court or to call Burberry for a replacement. Im very disappointed. They then rushed me out of the store because there were two people were behind me. I have to again give them a bad review for a friend who is too old to know how to give a review, and she does not own a computer.. I told her NOT to go there for tailoring but she went anyway.. Was in the area and needed some last minute tailoring. This popped up on Yelp as being close, so decided to try it out. I went in in a panic and came out a bit more relaxed. Manny is the owner and he was really helpful through it all. The pants came out great in no time at all. They have a lot of other services such as same day cleaning (you just have to bring it earlier in the day). Some cons are that it's a bit stuffy and can get really warm (maybe so customers dont linger longer than necessary waiting for their stuff?.. jk). But I'm assuming that's because they have a decent amount of equipment. Definitely a place I'll come back to in the future if in the area. read more

My first post and I am glad to be leaving a 5 star review for Manny's cleaners. Let me start off by saying, my wife was a professional seamstress and tailor. Unfortunately, due to rheumatoid arthritis she had to stop working. I brought Manny's cleaners some very expensive Ralph Lauren, black label dresses of hers that needed to be hemmed, dry cleaned etc. my wife was EXTREMELY SATISFIED! This is without a doubt a first-class operation.  They are fast, friendly, and professional. I am incredibly grateful that they were able to save a pair of women's trousers that another cleaner had ruined and two other establishments told me could not be repaired.  The entire staff was very friendly and did a great job of describing the repair she would be making.  The service is great and the pricing is very reasonable.  They had done some alterations (four hems and one pant clasp repair) the work was done so beautifully we actually offered to buy the staff lunch! It's good to go to a place where you feel at home.    As someone who's experienced the horrors of taking your clothes to a crappy dry cleaner, I understand the allure of knowing your items are in good hands.  Manny's cleaners will definitely be my go-to for everyday, or specialty articles and items that I particularly treasure. read more

I saw reviews on here for Mannys and figured Id give them a try. In the 2 times I used them I have had nothing but problems. The 1st time they screwed up drop of times, told me I would have my clothes on Sunday which never happened, and forgot to drop off a comforter so I figured no big deal, mistakes happen. Now the second time comes a week or so later, they pick up everything and the next day comes when Im supposed to have them dropped off they ignore my wifes instructions for drop off times and show up when Im on my way out to run errands, and get cash to pay him so I tell them to come back in a couple of hours at the time we set up because I cant pay him now. A couple of hours go by and he comes back with half of our clothes. WTF?!?! Of course the clothes missing are my wifes work clothes so shes freaking out, which means Im in a world of sh@t. We call them and they arent there because our drop off time is kind of late. Come today were expecting delivery of the missing clothes and none come, I cant get a straight answer as to when Im going to get these clothes, more grief from the wife, wonderful, right? So now were in limbo hoping that her clothes get here before the weekend is over, when they were supposed to be dropped off on Thursday. They guy is somewhat nice about it but I dont need this sh@t, its friggin laundry not brain surgery. edit: Well, today we get the final pieces they forgot and guess what?? They show up with the clothes and they totally IGNORED the piece of paper with washing instructions my wife included altogether. When I first moved to Forest Hills, Manny's was my go-to cleaners because of their location and reputation. While their location remains great, it unfortunately is the only thing great about them. Their ability to clean and alter clothes is exactly adequate. It is neither good nor bad, it's sufficient. But that should warrant a three-star review, not a one-star review. So, why the one-star? Reliability. After using Manny's regularly for the better part of a year, I noticed that clothes were virtually never ready when they said they would be, which for important events can yield disastrous results. Deliveries were likewise almost never made pursuant to any schedule, much less when they were supposed to have been made. And so, I stopped patronizing Manny's and began patronizing Maryfield down the block. Maryfield is fine, but unfortunately aren't open on Sundays. So it was, that after a several year absence, I recently began once again patronizing Manny's only to learn that nothing has changed. I sit here writing this review wondering where my clothes are - the clothes that were supposed to have been delivered today... the clothes for which the receipt, which I have in my pocket, confirms were supposed to have been delivered today. This marks the fourth or fifth time in a row, over the past six to eight weeks or so, that this exact same problem has happened. The clothes are just never ready when they're supposed to be or are never delivered when they're supposed to be. Even if the cleaning and alterations were spectacular (they aren't, they're fine) not having clothes when I need them is just too big a risk. If you need clothes ready by a certain time, please use caution when patronizing Manny's. read more

Visited Manny's on a trip to NYC and a road trip to Schenectady.I stayed with my friends in Rego Park and this was basically in their back yard. - Driving in Queens is hard for a Chicago guy...but I found street parking fairly easily.. - The staff seemed friendly...after a good conversation with the owner..he even gave me a bottle of water because it was hot! - I needed my shirts to be laundered/ironed & suit cleaned quickly for a friend's graduation - the clothes were done on time and were great. Manny's cleaners has been a fixture in Forest Hills for many years. Unfortunately, the original people are not here anymore and things ain't what they used to be! The new people are disorganized, sometimes it takes them a long time to find my dry cleaning. Now, they lost my wool dress pants. They said they would look for them and call me but I didn't hear from them. When I went in to ask again, we ended up in a shouting match. They are supposed to be opened until 8:00 PM. The other day I left work early and ran there, in the rain, so I could pick up my clothes before they closed. I got there 7:50 but the place was already locked up. We typically send our dry cleaning here and overall they do a nice job. If you opt for home delivery, their delivery estimates can sometimes be off, so make sure you if you need an article of clothing back by a certain date, make sure to pick it up or give them an earlier return date to be sure. This is my reason for taking off one star Where they really shine is with their tailoring. I've had a tux and my wedding suit tailored here and have been really happy with their results.
