We ordered breakfast takeout and we thought everything was delicious. My husband and I split and order of biscuits and gravy & avocado toast. The gravy had a little kick and was flavorful. The toast was yummy w the apricot jam layered on the bottom. Our kids devoured their chocolate chip pancakes and All American Breakfast w thick sliced bacon. My mom loves the BYO omelette and chunks of sausage. I used to go to this space when it used to be an Italian deli. I am thrilled the great customer service and legacy of yummy food continues. 5 Stars, and here is why... This very cozy Ma and Pa restaurant does not give off the appearance of a gastronomically achieved establishment. This can not be further from the truth. It is clear that the kitchen staff take great care and pride in each dish that is served. In my party of 4, we had 3 hot teas, one coffee that were never empty. An order of Avocado Toast with two eggs ordered over easy, Chicken and Waffles with two eggs sunny side up, Meat Lovers Skillet with scrambled eggs, and and a very flavorful Omelet all arrived at our table in a timely fashion and served to perfection. The only down side to this morning eatery, is it is tiny with only 10 tables and very little room for negotiating around the fore-mentioned tables. But this adds to the astonishing surprise of this hidden gem. All and all, I would highly recommend this place for the quality of the food and the kindness of the service. read more

So. We live in Carol Stream and we love to give our business to local businesses. We kept saying that we are gonna try this place, but one thing or another makes us forget. Well. This morning. We committed. We walked in to an adorably quaint location with about 10 tables and even being so small, felt very welcomed and warm. The waitress, apologies that I didn't catch her name, was the kind of waitress you dream about. Our coffee NEVER went cold or low. The attention to the table was stellar. We wanted to try a few things and I apologize that I didn't snag some photos. We were super hungry!! We had two huge glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice. Two bottomless coffees. We ordered a half order of the biscuits and gravy. It was a nice size biscuit, loaded with cheddar cheese and a delicious and spicy gravy with one egg. It was delicious, not your normal biscuits and gravy but a very welcomed twist to the old favorite. We ordered the avocado toast. We love avo toast and this was another outside the traditional kinds we'd had. The bread was the perfect toastedness and thickness, which is integral with a good avo toast. It had a nice healthy layer of apricot jam. An very hearty amount of the mashed avocado and a nice dusting of the homemade pickled red onions. Just needed a little salt and pepper and it was divine. Highly recommend Last. We split the steak and eggs. We got our marinated steak cooked to a perfect med-rare/med. the chimichuri was a perfect addition to the absolutely mouth watering marinade on the steak. Didn't need any salt, pepper or hot sauce. It was amazing. The eggs we ordered came out perfectly, we went with an over hard because my kid doesn't do a runny yolk. And it was a perfect addition to the flavors of the steak. Everything was moist and delicious. And the potatoes, which were more like a fry than a breakfast potato, were seasoned to perfection. Just the right cook on them that they were a great side with a little ketchup on the side We mentioned that we had not been before and the owner came out to welcome us and thank us for coming in. Between how sweet the owner and staff were and how amazing the food was, we will 100% be back to try more things from this very adorable hidden gem. I was going to lick the plate..I was gonna make sure I got every last bit of that deliciously savory slightly spicy gravy, when the manager came out and asked every single person in the whole place how their meal was and not one person has anything to say but simply "perfect". So not gonna lie, if I was driving past this place and wasn't looking for it I would have missed it. I am 110% glad we went looking for it due to the reviews. The food was AMAZING!! My family and I are breakfast people and we are always looking for the best local place. This is our favorite in Chicago and we have been back 4 times in a little over 2 months. I only say that because we actually live about 35 minutes away but the food and staff are so good and continue to be so it's well worth the drive. The owner, Manny, is usually there and comes out of the kitchen to say Hi and to check on the customers. The place is small but the service is fast! It's a little shop with about 7 tables but it's comfortable. They have another bigger place but that one is even farther from us. The food is so tasty, hot, and fresh. So we just tried Manny's Cafe for the first time, in an effort to support smaller local businesses during this quarantine. WE WILL BE BACK. My husband and I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a bacon cheddar burger, and a grilled cheese. First, the Cuban was the best Cuban we've ever had (we lived in the city for 5 years and tried places like 90 Miles etc haso we'ved our share of Cubans)!! I love how it was layered, first of all. The pickles on the bottom made for a phenomenal taste on every single bite. I love pickles so this was a winner for me. The two types of ham mixed with the cheese were just great. I was so blown away! Next, the burger. Again, I love how it was layered. The tomato was on the bottom, followed by SHREDDED LETTUCE (gamechanger) and the beef was seasoned well. It's a fantastic "basic" cheeseburger. I say "basic" because it simply meat, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and bacon. There isn't anything "crazy" on it like fried eggs or onion strings, etc. that you might find in a city restaurant, for example. But, so good. The grilled cheese was good but would have been better in-house ONLY because it was a little cold by the time we got home. But that's NOT the restaurant's fault. Due to the times we're in, we had to carry-out the food, and a grilled cheese isn't going to stay warm for long. But the cheese was plentiful, melty, and gooey. Finally, and I'm not sure her name, but the woman I interacted with was so nice. Just great, friendly customer service--THANK YOU! our meal, total was 30 and change pre tip. my partner got the all american combo and i got the country skillet. it was all very good, but a touch on the saltier side. both came with 2 absolutely divine pancakes, without a doubt the best i've ever had. perfectly sized, not too dense, a touch of vanilla- i love pancakes, and i will be back to order pancakes specifically. the staff was very nice and patient, and the restaurant felt like a small hole-in-the-wall diner. 9/10 read more

Yelp, the location, and the decor led me to believe this would be a simple greasy spoon (which I love). However, the food here, while deliciously greasy, would match any cute shop in downtown Chicago. My omelet was gorgeous and full of veggies and bacon. It popped with favor like no other omelet I've had in the burbs. It took a while to get our food, but it's farm to to table and cooked to order. That takes time. Server is good and friendly but slow. When you've been out in the suburbs for 30+ years, you start to notice little trends. "Miniature cafes run by people of Hispanic descent" is a recent one, and Manny's Cafe fits the bill as a place to find great food for a fair price and a small setting. *Being* a miniature cafe run by people of Hispanic descent, my first and only inclination is to get something I suspect would be made really well: chilaquiles. This particular plate of chilaquiles looked like a plate of soggy tortilla chips with two eggs, over easy, draped on top. It tasted marvelous. The texture was a bit like corn mash but saturated in a spicy, flavorful red molé. The eggs break open and make the mash rich and counter the spice, while the pickled red onions help give it crunch and tartness. Finally, I "get" why this thing exists. It was so good I honestly do not remember what my wife ate for lunch that day. The kids enjoyed their pancakes and bacon/sausage, though! We will return! read more

What a fantastic and unassuming place to eat! I gotta be honest. When my husband pulled us into this strip mall for after church breakfast, I was like um no. But he said the reviews were so good we had to give it a try. He wasn't wrong! OMG!!! THE BEST chilaquiles I've ever eaten. Restaurants almost always get them wrong, and like a dummy I keep trying. But HALLELUJAH! Manny's were perfect! And can we talk about the egg?! I've never had a more perfectly cooked egg in my life! A beautiful amber yolk, and the white was thick and glossy and not a char on it. Literally looked like a fake egg!!! My husband had bananas foster french toast. This is a very small little breakfast/lunch cafe hidden in a strip mall off of Gary. It has that family owned and ran feel to it and you can tell they really care about what they are doing. That being said at times the service may seem a bit slow but get over it bc this place effen rocks. Always the best. Tough historic location. I'm from the Southside so it's being a little S of DT, it's been a somewhat frequent stop from my job before retiring. It's a easy bike from many locations, although bike parking is nonexistent except for meters. I suggest riding ONLY a beater here. Again being very near the Dan Ryan interchange, if traffic is light it's convenient. This is usually never during Manny's hours but if you walk or cheat with nearby lots... so go already! read more
