Fabulous food, warm and wonderful service and comfortable seating here at First Watch in Bloomingdale. I loved that I was greeted immediately by someone welcoming me in and opening the doors for me. The elevated breakfast sandwich with avocado and arugula is tasty and made with fresh ingredients. Bonus points for the pillowy soft brioche bun. The coffee is rich and hot here too and I love the individually packaged creamers rather than an open creamer container, like other breakfast places sometimes offer. When I walked in, it looked like your standard First Watch. It was clean and today it wasn't very busy at lunch time. It took a couple minutes to get seated and a few more minutes for someone to come by and take my order. I've had the purple haze before and loved it. I wanted to try something different and went with the morning meditation. It was refreshing and you can definitely taste the tumeric. For food, I ordered the healthy turkey omelet, potatoes, and a side of chicken sausage. The omelet and potatoes were hot, but the chicken sausage was just warm. There was a good amount of turkey and spinach in the omelet and it will definitely keep me full for a while. Overall, I think the food was good. The service was okay. Met up with friends for a weekday lunch and we had fantastic service today. Our waitress understood we were waiting for our third party and she brought our drinks right away and left us to relax until our last diner arrived. We had an "appetizer" of perfectly cooked million-dollar bacon and split the lemon blueberry cornbread--delicious and freshly baked. Our entrees were perfect too--chimichurri steak hash and the Bacado (bacon, avocado, pico) with a side of potatoes. Mmm. Cons: the music is deafening, and the entire restaurant is freezing. Even the hostess commented that it is so cold. I had a side of potatoes, which I found quite good, and my husband ordered the Classic Benedict with potatoes which he was pleased with. Friend and I went here for brunch on a Saturday. Overall, we agreed that food was 5 stars, service was a 3. It took a long time for anyone to come to our table to greet us or bring water (the restaurant was fairly busy but there were some unoccupied tables. There were also two managers(?) who stood talking near our table for a large part of our meal but didn't seem to be doing much else). Once our waiter met with us and took our order everything was fine, but it was definitely more of a "you're on your own" meal experience. That said, we did enjoy the food! My friend got the "Pick Two" option with the pecan salad and the ham and gruyere sandwich, which she enjoyed. Been to other First Watch locations and the Bloomingdale location is better in my opinion. Our server Marrissa was friendly and professional. We went early on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately. Started with hot coffee ( You get a whole pot for the table) and an iced tea with free refills. My wife who is gluten free had the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl with Italian sausage,Crimini mushrooms,tomatoes and kale. Big enough to bring half of it home. I had the Bacado Omelet with sour dough bread and seasoned potatoes. Basically an omelet filled with crispy bacon,avocado and Monterey Jack cheese topped with sour cream and a side of Pico de Gallo. This location used to be TGIFridays but you would never know it. Decor is a clean and bright farmhouse style. Our waitress Marissa was friendly and knew many of her regulars by name. I ordered the GF Quinoa Power Breakfast bowl which was very large so I took half home. I especially loved the Italian sausage in it sweet with fennel. The basted eggs topped in off perfectly and were seasoned with fresh herbs. The coffee is hot and delicious and a carafe is left on the table which I appreciate. My husband enjoyed the omelette that was filled with bacon and avocado and served with toast and fried potatoes as substitute for the salad.. I would return to this well run location. read more

They had a selective menu for father's day which wasn't anything too crazy. We got hot and iced coffees and water to drink. Waiting for a table on a busy day I get. Waiting 60 minutes to be served food is unacceptable. No matter how busy they get! I am not the only one who actually complains about the cruddy customer service, the table next to us was asking the waitress why it was taking so long to bring out pancakes. The waitress told them the kitchen was busy!!!!!! Busy to make pancakes?????? At least come up with a better excuse!!!! Now the food....wow... and when I mean wow, and not in a good way... they like to add jalapeño on virtually all their dishes even on the most basic of breakfast meals. Well... anytime you like to spice anything up, usually means the food is bland and was NEVER going to taste good to begin with. Anyone reading this. One of the reasons I love First Watch is because they have healthy options.... Or at least they are healthier than other breakfast places. Yes, they also have lunch food, but I only got the breakfast. A lot of their dishes come with sliced avocado, which is healthy. New to the Bloomingdale Court area, and it looks like it might work and stay for a while. I got the Benedict, and it was a little bland for me. The hollindaise was the only thing bringing flavor to the dish, and it was lemony and quite watery. My gf got a 1/2 wrap1/2 soup. Experience on 9/1. Yes it was Labor day we knew it would be busy. We waited 15 mins for a table which is standard. We arrived at our table waited another 5 to get spoken with. The waiter said he would be back to take our order. He came back for our drink order we all order drinks quickly came back with our drinks but no water which he said he was bringing asked if we were ready to order food we weren't yet so he left came back about 5 mins later we order our food. We waited 1 hour to get our food. He never came to check on us until right before the food came out. He told us he was taking our drinks off the bill which was nice. We watched as table after table got there food tables that sat way after us ear and finish before we even got our food. Our food was lukewarm at best, looked like it was thrown on the plate. He did offer to get us other drinks after we were almost through with our breakfast. As a fellow server do better, as someone who loves to try new restaurant this was our first time. We will not be back. It was not acceptable. Yes, I understand if the kitchen was backed up but food was coming out of the kitchen and present to tables that were there before us. Before me and my family arrived we called to see how long was the wait and they stated 30minutes and we ask if they could put our name down and they did, when we got there my sister went in and they told her 15 more minutes which was fine but then 15 minutes went by and she never got the text about the table so she went in again and they told her give them a few they'll text her because their going to clean up some tables so after waiting some more she never got a text so at this point we decided maybe if the whole family goes in then when we can sit down so we went in and they ask my sister for her name again like it wasn't on the list and as if she hasn't been in there two times already and then they sat us but as we where sitting for 10minutes nobody ever came to our table, nobody greeted us, brought us water or even check to see if we got a serve, my mom did request the manager and of course he made excuses for all of it. We felt so much discrimination and neglect from them, I really thought we graduated as a society from all this black and white stuff but I see we didn't and I'm very disappointed because we really wanted to eat here and enjoy our time but we left disgusted and disappointed and with hungry kids. read more

Love First Watch. We have been to a few and they have all been good. The breakfast sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. Chickichanga is huge and so flavorful. My wife thinks they have the best french toast and my son thinks they have the best waffles. The fresh fruit beverages at their juice bar are unique and delicious. But I always get the coffee because they have the best breakfast coffee anywhere. It is called Project Sunrise and it has it's own story which you should read up on. Soooo good. We came here on Wednesday late morning as a brunch. It was not so crowded and we immediately got seated. There was gentle pop music going, but pretty quiet and relaxing atmosphere. I think this restaurant would be a good place to hold a small party or have a meaningful talk with someone important to you. Our order: Purple Haze (drink) Cauli-Rizo Breakfast Tacos Chickichanga Purple Haze - 4 stars It was yummy and zappy. A lot of flavor mixing up and wakes your sleepy head. Only one complaint from me personally was lavender flavor in the drink, which reminded me of the air freshener my family used for the bathroom in Japan. Nothing wrong with it, it was a good drink. Cauli-Rizo Breakfast Tacos - 4.5 stars This is a vegetarian tacos and I absolutely liked spicy cauliflower working as chorizo in there. Pickled onion and avocado are fresh and give nice kicks of flavors. Very well balanced as a whole. I don't eat tacos very often in my daily life, so my knowledge is in Taco Bell level. But these tacos were probably one of best tacos I had in years. It came with black bean garnish on the side, which is a little too bitter for my taste because it looks like anko (Japanese bean paste). Chickichanga - 5 stars This was my meal of the day this time. All components matched very well together. Especially lemon flavor and green chilis in the omelette. Eggs and lemon don't stand together in my head, but green chilis balance them very well. I thought it was very creative, and I enjoyed that surprise. A small cup of fruits and chunk of sour cream were also refreshing and kept the meal a little more entertaining. Definitely recommend this dish for the first "first watchers"! I liked the spacious dining area. Bathroom was very clean and looked fancy. They had on the entrance wall a big picture of Mallard Lake forest preserve where we often go for walking on sunny days. This place will be our breakfast brunch place to go from now on! read more

Great food! We visited early on a snowy Sunday morning and the place was pretty empty. I was not happy that we had to stand for about 5 minutes at the hostess station waiting for someone to seat us but it looked like they were short staffed. Once we got seated, our server promptly came to our table to ask for our drink order. I was very happy that they placed the pot of coffee right on the table, but didn't get why my water glass was small. I'm gluten sensitive but don't have celiac and I looked for some GF options on the menu. They had some bowls and gf toast and I saw some other options but I wanted eggs. The bacado omlettes seemed like a good option and I was happy with it. Hubby had the works omlette with roasted potatoes and Artisan bread. He said the bread was EXCELLENT! When trying to decide what to do order, I wasn't sure whether to or The Farmhouse skillet or The Works Omelette. I love the potatoes but I was also craving the meats from the omelette. I asked if I could do the ingredients from the Works omelette but in a skillet. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told it was possible. Sure enough, I loved my Works Skillet. I don't want to put First Watch in a position to do this for everyone. However, it's worth asking if there is a dish that can be modified for you. You won't know unless you ask.
