I had such an amazing experience . I had the pork belly with rice and egg (Tocilog), and it was incredible -- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I felt so welcomed and well taken care of from the moment I walked in. You can truly feel the warmth. I highly recommend this place.

Food, service, ambience all hit the spot . We will be back here! Everything felt like home.

Great crispy pata and lechon kawali. Meat is tender and skin is crispy. Cute interior and losts of seating. My kids loved the pancit bihon. Very flavorful. Shanhi lumpia had great flavor as well. Tastes home made. We definitely will come back again! My kids loved it that much as well. Friendly staff and very attentive. Wished the rice portion was bigger to help cut the fat.

Great food! Fantastic service and cozy atmosphere. Their prices are reasonable too. Will be back over and over again.

The food was really tasty. Service was quick but it was not busy when we got there, our server was friendly. We will be back to try other dishes. It was our first visit and we were very happy.

The last time we came was two years ago when it was owned by someone else and the menu was overly ambitious with the Mexican/Filipino fusion. That didn't go so well. I heard that a new owner took over so my kid and I decided to try them out today. We got there after 2pm and the lunch rush was just dying down. The first thing I noticed was their much more focused menu of just Filipino classics. A hopeful sign. The decor pretty much stayed the same sans the Mexican stuff. The servers were very friendly and told us to seat at a table of our choosing. Their special for the day was pinakbet, a melange of vegetables with pork belly. I decided to get that. My kid got the lechon kawali plate and I had to try their pork dinuguan plate, too. I have to say, I'm so glad that I gave this place another chance. The lechon kawali was perfectly done, crunchy skin and tender meat. The pinakbet is how my dad used to make it. I'm glad they stayed authentic and didn't skimp on the bittermelon. The dinuguan was tender and well balanced. I will have to come back to try the rest of the menu. Everything we ordered stayed in its true Filipino authentic, delicious, and reminiscent of home. I highly recommend.

It was our first time at the Manila Couve and will definitely be back! Really good Filipino food! Friendly staff and would highly recommend.

Truly authentic Filipino grub! And always a pleasant experience with the food servers. They had unique shape to the banana lumpia, which made it more crunchy. Yummy!

I wanted so bad to love this place. I have been looking for decent Filipino restaurant since I moved in the PDX area in 2012, I haven't found that yet, unfortunately :( Escabeche: the fish is not fried thoroughly, the sauce is nothing like the escabeche sauce. Dinugunan: mediocre. Nothing special. Sinigang: does not taste like sinigang. It's not sour at all! Crispy pata: This would have been good if they added more salt. It has the perfect crispiness to it. Not sure if I'm coming back :(

Yesterday we went to try Manila couve used to be Kuya's kitchen. And it was surprisingly delicious the Pancit was amazing and the Turons were even better - now here is the kick ...... if you are starving Do not come here - there is only 1person in the kitchen and one floating in between and 1 server also they made the food to order nothing pre cook so it takes time to get your food but all good comes to those that wait cause once we got our food it was delicious. Definitely will be back - Chef seems to have big Plans for this place menu wise so I am excited and ready to try on anything she cooks !

So yummy! The adobo was tender and well seasoned, the lumpia was crispy and such a good flavor, the halo halo drink amazing and served in an epic goblet. And the ube tu-ron caramelized crispiness melts in your mouth. Also...everyone was so friendly and the place was cute. Plants all over all. We'll be back next weekend!

First thing first. This location deserves to succeed. The folks here work hard and are exceedingly kind. The type of people you want to see win. That being said, the food is being forced into mediocrity by a menu that competes with itself. I know that's their whole shtick but it doesn't work. Maybe it would if it was fusion food, but this isn't that. There is a page on the menu for filipino food and a separate page for mexican food. In order to succeed they're going to need to focus on one or the other and create a dish good enough to draw customers to their location. Not much foot traffic happening here. The pancit was fairly tasty and the adobo chicken was nice. I wouldn't recommend the lechon. Fingers crossed they simplify and create an MVP dish. Can't wait to give them another visit once they do!

Showed up for a very late lunch at their Alberta location. Stepped up and ordered: Palabok-Rice noodles, seafood sauce, ground pork, sautéed shrimp, pork crackling, fried garlic. Adobong Gulay-Green beans and fried tofu in a tamari and vinegar sauce. My sister had been hoping for the Kare Kare, but they were sold out, so she opted for the Adobong Gulay. They had one special menu and the manapua man noodles and gaugee caught my eye. That's like the perfect combo. But we skipped out on gaugee and got the manapua man noodles. Wish the options for the additions was one fried chicken but instead it was either pork belly or sweet sour chicken. Which isn't usually the kind of combo I would get. Especially if you label it manapua man noodles. The noodles tasted more like fried noodle / fried saimin style since it was cooked on a wok. I do miss the simplicity of a manapua noodle where you dress it with shoyu and sirracha. But these noodles weren't bad. They were super flavorful. Portion was huge! My husband said he could've gone without the pork belly. The pork belly was meh. The noodles tho, ono! I also went with the japolo chicken and kalbi combo, which is my go to. Kalbi is saucy and so flavorful! The chicken is nice and crispy. My only thing is that my plate was swimming in sauce. And when it touches the rice, it's a no for me. Wish had some buffer like cabbage to catch the sauce. Other than that, food is always ono here. Service is also friendly and the place is nice and clean with lots of seating!

The sisig and garlic rice were absolute standouts that were deeply flavorful and the dishes I'd come back for if this review were based on food alone. The Mama's crab noodles also left a huge impression. The coconut greens were close to excellent, though they felt just a little thin or underdeveloped compared to the other dishes. I'd probably pass on the skewers next time. Cocktails were incredible across the board. The reason I wouldn't return is the experience around seating. We made reservations far in advance and even accommodated a requested time change because we specifically wanted to celebrate inside. Instead, we were bumped outside, where we ended up eating next to the neighboring bar with a steady stream of chain smokers all evening. It was frustrating to have such exceptional food paired with an anniversary experience that felt like an afterthought.

My partner and I got the grilled bbq chicken and the bbq short ribs + marinated beef. Unfortunately, the deep fried chicken was sold out for the day (we came in about 45 minutes until closing so perhaps our fault). I think because of the time we came in- we got kitchen scraps. The short ribs were 90% fat and 10% actual meat. The macaroni salad was incredibly plain, it needed more seasoning - pepper something because it straight up looked it was pasta with slabbed mayo. I will however give a shot out to their poke because I don't eat seafood nor like it and I did give this a try for the fun of it and it was delicious. Again I think because we came in 40-45 minutes before closing closing the service was not great either. I saw the self service bottles of sauce and when I came back I asked the lady for one and she said she had run out when it was pretty clear she was just cleaning up. Fair- you want to get out of there on time. So I asked the lady for hot sauce and she said it was extra and charged me $1.00 per 2.5oz container which is just diabolical in my opinion- I still paid none the less so it's my dusky for contribution to the fiasco. Overall it was mid, I'm used to much more flavorful food in Los Angeles. Ill give it another go whenever I'm in the area at a different time. Perhaps it was a one off day for them.
