JD & Martin took the time to answer all my questions and helped me choose the right size unit for my needs without any pressure or upselling. The facility itself is clean, secure, and well-maintained. I felt completely comfortable storing my belongings here, and the climate control made a big difference--especially for some of the more sensitive items I had. These people are downright scammers and thieves. I have dealt with them for years the real estate, and they've always been great with me until I became a personal customer. They up sold me over the phone on a larger storage unit which I didn't need that they said would cost only $80 per month because that particular unit was on sale. It wound up actually costing me $120 a month with the insurance that they didn't tell me and then after two or three months they jacked up the price with no notice the price went all the way up to $240 which I refuse to pay so now they're saying they're going to auction off all of my things. read more

We rented for many years at another MMS site but moved to the Inwood location for more space. The five stars are primarily for customer service provided by JD - from helping us find the most appropriate unit, to move in, to support with renters insurance documents - JD is always professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Having a reliable MMS rep on site has been especially useful since MMS is now owned/managed by a company based in Missouri and the phone reps aren't familiar with the particular challenges of NYC storage. This site is clean, well-maintained and safe. We have never had problems parking in the parking bay and have never had to wait for a rolling cart. We usually are there early evenings on weekends. Other tenants are friendly. There were a lot of students at our previous location - sometimes they'd store foodstuffs between semesters which would bring in critters. Glad we don't have to deal with that anymore. read more

After being a paying customer for two years, I think it is time to take my business elsewhere. Today, I went to pick up some items and tried to stop by the front desk first. I DID NOT have a mask on, which is why I was stopping at the front desk-- I was going to ask for one. Instead of communicating with me and asking me what I wanted, they acted as if I was violating some high security protocol. They ran to the glass flailing their arms and signaling for me to leave while I was clearly signaling them to give me a mask. It was embarrassing as other customers were looking at them with confusion. ** This negative review is long OVERDUE though... Reason being that my locks were not opening on two separate occasions and had to be changed. These were locks I purchased from them... so either they are cheap or they have some weird business going on here! The staff is lacking proper training... most likely due to an incompetent manager. read more

Forbes L. was super helpful to my husband and I -- told us how to get the best deal (book online to get the better rate, then "redeem" in person), showed us various units to help us decide what size we needed, and talked us through all of the various services available (shuttle service to bring things to the storage unit, parking if you drive yourself, package delivery from UPS or FedEx). The front desk staff are also extremely friendly and helpful, always offer us water, and remembered us when we returned with our stuff a few days after joining. Beyond that, we've only rented for a few months, but are pleasantly surprised by the low price, brand-new, clean lockers, and the ease we've had so far moving stuff to the unit. Would heartily recommend this location to anyone -- sounds like Forbes L. is single-handedly making this location a go-to for great customer service. So thankful for his help! read more

Manhattan Mini storage is a gem of a business. This location, way up in Inwood is worth the hike. These guys run a very good operation. I have a storage unit here. I picked this location because the units were cheaper up here than in lower Manhattan. I got this unit because I was moving and needed to store stuff somewhere. These guys have a relationship with a moving company who gave me a great deal. I got the space, got set up with the moving company and before I knew it, my stuff had been packed and moved into the unit. The space is very new, clean, safe and temperature controlled. When I say clean, I feel like I could eat off the floor, it is that clean. It is very secure, with all of the units having double locks. I have even utilized their taxi service where they have a large van that will take you one way either to or from their facility. You do the moving, but there is someone there to drive you as well as watch your stuff as you schlep things in or out of your apartment building. Finally, the staff here is great. They are always friendly and accommodating. read more

Note: this is just a preliminary review, given that I actually have not moved things in just yet. However . . . . I have been totally blown away by the facilities and the EXCELLENT customer service demonstrated, in particular, by an associate onsite by the name of "Kynam". Easily one of THE best experience I have had in New York (and, specifically, Manhattan) in terms of doing business, as he was just a true pro. Kynam was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and thorough in his assistance, patiently walking me through (literally) the storage process when I visited ahead of time to get a feel for the space and my likely storage room. Kynam was just an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish of my tour, and I look forward to seeing him again when I return with my stuff -- that is, unless he has been promoted to site manager or some other deserving position. He is just THAT GOOD!! As for the site itself, the premises look immaculate and modern, the climate control was working well, and the computers were running well. MMS at first blush appeared to be somewhat pricey when compared to their competitors, but the fact that they have a concierge, shuttle, supplies, and extras like hanging racks and shelves to make your move that much easier, it all balances out, cost-wise. AND they receive FedEx and UPS packages you might receive at no additional cost, which could definitely be helpful during those transition periods of your move. In all, just a wonderful experience for someone who expects a lot, service-wise, but rarely ever gets it in NYC. This time, it was definitely something different. read more

They've been billing me at the wrong address and when I called to update it they said they won't do that on the phone and to come it in person during C19!!! On top of that the person who took my call, (Manny) refused to connect me with their manager or supervisor. I've had my storage for close to a year now- The 3 times I've been here there's always an issue! as a Virgo who has pristine organizational skills and a file cabinet at home it's virtually impossible that I bring the wrong keys EVERYTIME! When this is the ONLY storage unit I've owned. last time it took almost an hour for them to clip the lock #diosdamepaciencia this time my key didn't work. And my only option was to cut the lock AGAIN- Thank you to JUAN the Assistant Manager who in the end didn't charge me another request to cut the Lock. These guys were fantastic for many years, but based on recent changes there, the new owners (StorageMart) have killed the pleasures of the place: they discontinued the free storage taxi service (which actually encouraged people to put MORE stuff into their facilities -- no clue why they stopped it!); jacked up my unit rental prices; and cut the hours that people can access their units. Manhattan Mini Storage used to be great, but they were bought out by TKG - III Eagle, LLC and they are now doubling, tripling and quadrupling their rates!!! RUN, do not Walk to get away from them!!! They are heartless, supremely greedy jerks and don't give a fig about their loyal customers who have been with them for years. I was hit especially hard financially by Covid - I'm a senior citizen and lost my apartment as a result. Before they were bought out, the customer service reps were terrific and understanding and would work with you. NO MORE!! Nothing but GREED, GREED, Unbridled GREED!!! This Manhattan mini storage is the worse. The workers don't know what they are doing, and they don't note a persons account, meaning extra money is taking out for no reason. All they can say is that they are sorry. No one wants to hear I am sorry when it has to do with their money. Then they tell you they can refund you. This is so upsetting and they. Red a training class or they are a bunch of liars. So now I have to add money so my other bill can be paid. They seem to have been taken over by another company. For two days, I've been trying to pay my bill online... as I have for the last 6 years. First, I was told I needed to change my password (rolls eyes). I did that. All good? NO!! I went through the entire process, several times, of paying my bill... same credit card I've always used, not remotely overdrawn. They just keep saying to try again. I tried 5 times yesterday, and 5 times today. Tomorrow is the end of the month. If it doesn't work, then what? Lose my unit and get a black mark on my credit? read more

Maybe it was my previous experience with U-haul that made this one seem so wonderful, but the friendly people working here made me feel good about my recent move to Inwood. The gentleman at the front desk chit-chatted with me, welcomed me to the neighborhood, and even gave me recommendations for good pastry shops in the area. One thing that really stuck out in my mind was when they asked "How long will you be staying with us?" It was as though I was joining a family. You have to experience it to believe. These guys literally make renting a storage space a joy. I keep coming back. The place is temperature controlled and really it is. Double locks to keep your stuff secure and all kinds of discounts to make your day. Rene was really courteous and animated, a joy to deal with and he is really knowledgable. I've been a customer of Manhattan Mini Storage for over a dozen years, and a customer of this specific location for nearly five years. The staff--especially Chris and the manager Tony--are very responsive and attentive. Although it's not a heavily promoted service, Manhattan Mini Storage will even dispose of items for its renters. Generally speaking, you fill up a rolling cart worth of stuff and they take it away for an additional charge. I've used that service a few times over the years to help me downsize lockers. I had thought that the price was always the same regardless of the items to be discarded. As I found out this week, the charge actually varies, depending on those items. That especially applies to a mattress or box spring, because of the possibility of bed bugs. This week I moved all my stuff into a much smaller locker (except for a box spring and other items to be trashed). Because I'd had Manhattan Mini Storage dispose of items for me, I didn't check with the staff first to see if there would be any complications with removing a box spring. When I brought the rolling cart with the box spring and items to be trashed, I found out the charge for disposing of a box spring is significantly higher than for more typical refuse. I was stuck, since I couldn't put the box spring back into my locker. However, Tony was very responsive and we worked out a mutually agreeable solution. I really felt like he and the staff swiftly and carefully paid attention to my situation. There are many, many renters at this location, yet I still felt as though I was a priority for them, despite only having a single, modest size locker. I would give this place 4 stars but I recently moved into the facility. First they advertise free truck and movers for 3 hours,as long as you stay with them for a period of time. So they set it all up they got the truck and movers to come on a specific date. Well nothing in life is free!! Sure enough the movers required a deposit of $170 refundable if they finish Job in 3 hours less. My stuff I had to move was less then 3 hours I got the laziest movers ever so I winded paying because they used all my 3 hours and some! (Smoke breaks) none the less. I get to facilitate the lady very helpful all my stuff put away! I pay the first month if I let them electronically deduct the payment they will waive security deposit. Well having to move on short notice and having to pay rent in two places anyone is up for a savings. So I agree. I'm thinking I'm getting billed month to month no biggy! So the first of the month comes not even 15 days walla money taken out. I triple read contract looking to see if I missed something. So I called and lady says well we bill first of month. I was like no one explain that to me. She apologizes ! No big deal I just hope that I don't get any more surprises! read more

After booking online, Lauren called several times to check in with me, answer my questions and assure I had the proper room size. On the day of Steven came and was patient and helpful as I carried my many boxes to the curb. He was calm and reassuring, even as we were unloading my things past the end of his shift. And last but not least, Rene was extremely thorough and professional as he walked me through the paperwork and policies and helped me readjust my room reservation. This was an overall pleasant and professional experience under what could have been an extraordinarily stressful situation. I'd been very excited to get my storage service with you guys but have been having a few troubles and its been less than a week. Firstly, I received registration information over the phone that was different from the information that I received when I arrived to the front desk at the site. When I completed my registration, and went up to the locker numbered the same as what was numbered on my card by the person who assisted me, it was NOT the correct locker number. When I took it down to straighten it out, the representative didn't say a word. She just put a new label over the previous one and sent me on my way. The day after, I get two e-mails regarding me missing my appointment for the day before. Which I couldn't understand since I did make my appointment.. Also I had a pickup scheduled however, because my job is all the way in midtown and I leave at 5:30 and have to go through the crowded train stations, I let a representative know that my 6-7:30 window would be tight and I hoped that the driver could arrive a bit later than 6. When I was just a train stop away (6:02 pm), I get a call from a rep with a nasty attitude. She told me the driver would leave in 10 minutes. I told her I would definitely be there in less than 10 and she told me , "Well he might not be there then". She gave me such a hard time. Now that I'm trying to sign up for my online account with the account number that was given to me, I'm receiving a message saying that my account number doesn't exist. I was really looking forward to better customer service in terms of attitude and punctuality. What gives, MMS? read more

hate this place. it's hard to access your locker without some sort of hassle if you're all the way up top. there's no one working around to help, so ure forced to move these big ass ladders everywhere and they BARELY even fit! they start getting blocked by pipes, or narrow halls. it's annoying as fuck, u can easily injure yourself! not to mention that the ladders are old as shit, so...efficiently not the best. Other than that, maintenance dude is an asshole. he catches an attitude, rolls his eyes, or scoffs when asked to do his job...1/5 do not recommend. i can never just come in and out of here, it's ALWAYS SOMETHING update: ask for CEASAR in Maintenance if you need any help!!! great guy major update*** Spoke to manager Andrew who was extremely helpful and understanding. to my delight, he helped me find a better deal for a unit under (which means i no longer have to use the tall ladders, but he informed he has NEW more efficient ones anyway ), so the other smaller ladders are much easier to maneuver. i believe my next visit won't be tedious anymore thank you andrew read more

Their customer service is wayyyyy better than any storage I've been in, if you find that prices are a bit higher than others is because your getting the best services and friendly people. I initially checked in with the fabulously friendly Kirk and then moved in all of my belongings the following day. Chris was there to answer question after question with patience and humor. The unit I rented was in perfect condition. In fact, the whole place is beautifully maintained. The big bonus turned out to be the guys from Moving Ahead (arranged by MMS). They arrived and had all of my things(on a 4th Floor walk-up) loaded in the truck in no time. Let's face it, moving is a drag under the best of circumstances. But above all, they have great people like Lauren working for them. I never had to get a storage unit before and was a little concerned at what I needed as my situation is different than most. Lauren was a tremendous help, she was professional, extremely kind, and answered all my questions providing excellent advice. Jessica greets you with her beautiful smile and really does care about the customer, whatever she can to help you she will do. She was great. Stanislav set me up with my storage bin he was very helpful and extremely professional and really spent a lot of time going over things. These people are lousy. My wife set a time for them to come by with a truck to move stuff to storage and they were two hours late. At the storage facility, no one was there with a key to open up, so she was stuck waiting their for another hour and a half. Then when I went to pick up the stuff a bit under a month later, they refused to close out the account because my wife wasn't physically there. I was walking out with all her stuff and they weren't doing a thing to stop me, but they claimed that I didn't have the authority to end billing on the account so they would keep charging her credit card until she physically showed up. This all despite the fact that she had specifically written that I had authority to close out the account in the original contract. But the folks manning the office were too busy being assholes to even check. Completely terrible service from end to end. Horrible, horrible experience. P.S. I also notice that the other 5-star reviews mostly read like ad copy, (a complete list of staff who are "dedicated in providing compassionate and exceptional customer service" and "service was excellent all with a Smile and Professionally Handled") rather than real experiences.
