Service: 1/5 The service at this place is SUPER confusing. First, you seat yourself. Then they give you paper and pencil without explaining anything, so we write our order down on the paper and pencil and then sit there waiting. Then they tell you you're supposed to go up and order at the cashier. Then they tell you you're TECHNICALLY supposed to write your order down, then take the slip up to the cashier to submit your order. Then they give you a buzzer, and then you pick up your order when it's ready. For a place with such a confusing system, it seems like you would want to teach people what they're expected to do, especially if you're a new place. On top of that, the people working were generally pretty rude and Food: 3/5 Good, nothing to write home about. It's nice to have a themed restaurant, but there should be more varied ingredients besides 5 accompaniments to the mango (one of which includes ice). The things we did try were okay. I liked the mango ice cream mochi wrap thing (see picture) the best. The shaved ice type of desserts were also pretty good, especially the one with coconut. Best part was the quality of mango was actually pretty good. When I heard about Mango Mango from one of my friends, I was so excited to come and try it on our girls' night out! I love mango and was delighted to hear that a shop selling mango-oriented desserts had opened in the area. It wasn't too busy when I got there (around 7:15 ish) but it started to fill up more once I was there. The interior is very clean and well-lit, and the bathrooms are nice! The decor was very cute. Service was quick and ordering at the counter was easy. We tried a wide variety of desserts at an extremely affordable price; five of us split a Combo A (S04: mango mochi, A01: special mango juice sago & pomelo w/ mango ice cream, A12: snow white juice w/ mango & black rice), the S09 (mini mochi, jellies, beans, and condensed milk), and the C06 (mango and strawberry waffle with coconut ice cream). Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the A01; the sago with the ice cream and bits of pomelo were so delicious! The mochi was also excellent. I think when it's busy they have a hostess that seats you (as per soft-opening reviews) but when I went it was only half busy and a seat yourself + order a cashier kinda of business. Their menu is large and consists of different combinations of mango juice, mango ice cream, coconut juice, jellies, rice balls, red beans, smoothie, Crepes... the list goes on. Everything I saw ranged from $5-$8 and judging from our dishes, it was totally worth the price. A.06- Mango Juice, Mango chucks, mango ice cream, and rice balls ($6.50) delicious and the perfect option if all you're looking for is mango and rice balls. Strangely addicting while you eat it. Desserts here were just okay for me. When you first walk in, you get this intense smell of mango mixed with Durian, so almost like raw sewer. Very cute decor though. You are greeted by a "host" that hands you the menu and a coupon for buy one get one free on select deserts and a free pudding., which they ran out of at 2pm, for their grand opening. There's no menu wall behind the counter, so make sure you look through the menu while you are waiting in line. The guy taking my order spoke Chinese to me. I am not Chinese. His English is not very good either. Luckily the lady (probably owner) next to him spoke English and she was able to explain some of the items on their menu as I am not familiar with some of it. Snow White is what they consider coconut milk. It tasted like powder to me. Sago is a type of jello. I tried the Snow White Mango with black glutinous rice. The Snow White (aka coconut milk) tasted like powder so my first bite wasn't very pleasant. The glutinous rice wasn't even sticky and was very bland. Adding a little sugar and a pinch of salt would go a long ways. I couldn't force myself to take another bite of it. A lot of Thai deserts has the black sticky rice, so I am pretty familiar with the consistency. This was a buy one get one free dessert. I also tried the Mango Mille crepe cake. The texture was on point but the mango flavor was overpowering. Everything was Mango from the crepe to the filling and the syrup. Maybe the green tea or durian one will be better. It was a good portion and cheaper ($7) than the other places around town. One thing though is the Mango itself was good. It was ripe and sweet. If you are looking for a quant, unique dessert place try mango mango! They have everything from milk crepes to shaved ice. I randomly found this place on yelp and through the pictures it looked really good so I decided to check it out with a group of friends. Between the 8 of us we ordered mango pudding, green tea mili crepe, durian mili crepe, and mango shaved ice. Honestly? Everything was very light and delicious. I love Asian desserts because they aren't too heavy but just enough sweetness to give you that after dinner edge. I will warn you, the durian mili crepe has a very strong durian flavor, so if you don't like durian this might not be for you. Also, the shaved ice dessert is HUGE - share this with at least 4 people, or if you're really hungry. Overall, this please was really cute and nice. I'm so excited that there's finally a HK style dessert place in Dallas. I love MANGOS by the way. I attended the soft opening, so hopefully they'll work out the kinks and stuff by the time they open. Service: They had issues with directing traffic. There's 2 girls working at the front and they were in charge of directing the traffic, but it wasn't done very efficiently. There's a row of chairs outside of the building for people to wait, which is nice because they wanted to keep the line inside of the store to a minimum. And then it was up the girls to allow so many people in at a time. However, at one point in time, there were people who just parked and walked in, but the girls didn't address the issue and tell them to go outside and wait in line, so of course we got bumped. And once you do get inside, the girls politely escort you to a table and give you menus so to me it means that someone will come to take my order. But that's not the case, you still have to wait in line inside and order and pay at the cashier's desk. So don't be fooled! Decor: The décor is really modern and streamlined on the other hand and there's plenty of seating inside for big and small groups. Anyhoo, all of my stars are attributed to the food. Despite the previous prepping that should have been done beforehand such as cutting up all of the fruit and what not, you wouldn't think that it would take very long to give us our food, but it did (perhaps 15-20 min) after ordering. But they were at their soft opening, so I'll give them that. The dessert was so good though...the mangos were ripe and sweet and everything just blended very well together. I had the mango, sago, strawberry, lychee jelly, an mango ice cream sundae. It didn't take me long time to finish. It's very refreshing and not too heavy, so it makes it a nice compliment to your dinner. I'd like to try the mango cake next time..so I'll definitely be back at a later time. Such a busy place on a Friday night! There were a lot of people inside and outside of the place. Inside, you hear music playing. But because of the noise level, I wasn't able to tell if those were Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, or English songs. It's nice to see quite a few Indian customers. Definitely they like mangoes too. Here they proudly serve Hong Kong style desserts. Since I'm from this very place, I'm more qualified than anyone else to yelp. When you talk about Hong Kong desserts, the most popular item is the red bean soup. (At least it was a few decades ago.) To be exact, we call it "sand" rather than "soup" because the red beans are cooked to the extent that the red beans and liquid come to a sand-like grainy texture. Eating sand!? You may not know what I'm talking about until you taste the best sweet red bean dessert. So the red bean soup was what I ordered. The red beans were thoroughly cooked, sweet but not too sweet. The liquid was quite clear, nothing like the sandy texture I talked about though. Anyway, this is the US, not Hong Kong. So it's more than acceptable. I also ordered a durian mille crepe to take home. By the time I got home, the crepe partially collapsed. So it is better to eat in rather than take out if you can help it. There is a sign that says "Return your dishes". So make sure you don't dump your bowls and plates in the trash after you're done. They'll yell at you if they see you (just kidding). The atmosphere is quite casual and comfortable. Everyone seems to have a good time. The decor is quite modern and simple. Everything looks clean and tidy. The bananas were cut into huge chunks and there was a literal spot... like thumbprint size (zero kidding or exaggeration) spot of Nutella. I liked the mix of the fruit and a tapioca balls, and the mango ice cream was the perfect amount of sweet.
