Jin Xi is a charming little spot in Flushing with Asian desserts and decently-priced lunch options…read more We were looking for a dessert spot that also had savory lunch options and Jin Xi came up in our search. We were particularly interested in their Lunch Combo Series, which is available from 11 am to 4 pm daily. There are two options to choose from - there is a designated list and you can choose one rice dish, one "syrup", and one drink. The other option is one souffle, sandwich, or appetizer, and one "syrup", and one drink. I was very confused with what the "syrup" options were at the time, but realized later it was a dessert We got: * Lunch Combo Series 1) - Thai Pork Neck Rice, Peach Gum Soup, Tangerine Peel Lemon Tea $14.95 - The Husband really enjoyed the pork neck with the purple rice. The broccoli was just steamed though, so there was nothing special there. And it also came with a corn salad. He thought the Peach Gum Soup was a bit different but liked it nonetheless. And the Tangerine Peel Lemon Tea was good too. * Lunch Combo Series 1) - Curry Fried Pork Rice, Pandan Pudding, Passion Fruit Tea - My fried pork with curry sauce was enjoyable too. I liked that it came with a purple rice, which was a nice touch. Mine also came with steamed broccoli and a corn salad. I do wish there was a bit more curry sauce though. The Pandan Pudding was yummy and I really enjoyed my Passion Fruit Tea. We found the Lunch Combo Series is a real great option since you get a main, dessert and a drink for less than $15! * Thai Spicy Coconut Cooking Pot, Beef Slices $14 - The Little Guy liked this dish, but it was spicier than he expected and thought there would be a stronger coconut milk taste to it. * Thai Pandan Pudding $9 - The Little Gal thought her dessert was pretty good. It's served with a white sauce that you'll need to pour over the dish. I think getting a few desserts and sharing them would be a great option here. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Jin Xi. I know most people visit for their desserts, but their savory options are worth checking out too. The wait may seem a bit longer for their hot items as other Yelpers had mentioned since they use an electric stove instead of a gas one.

While this is technically tiramisu, I don't note any tiramisu technique applied to this cake. It's just layered like it. Loved how they weren't too sweet and how the textures were preserved despite getting take out! Mango Pomelo Sago 杨枝甘露 - classic, tangy and lightly sweet from the mango, chewy Sago Makkee Deluxe 麦麦大满贯 - loved the brown sugar flavors of the peach gum and crunchiness of the grass jelly. Appreciated the ratio of ingredients along with the textural contrast of the slurpy peach gum, slightly mushy mung beans and chewy potato mochi balls! Taro Black Sticky Rice Mochi Fresh Milk 香芋黑米麻薯鲜奶 - how can you not like the chewy almost-drinkable mochi?? The sticky rice was also chewy with just a crunch and nicely cooked. Taro Coconut Sago 香芋椰汁西米露 - a little off with the coconut milk to ingredient ratio but I didn't mind the extra taro and sago! The containers were all very sturdy! Be sure to give everything a good mix! Would come back the next time I'm craving Chinese desserts!

The Makkee Deluxe was okay, it had a good amount of toppings like trap balls, red bean, grass jelly and lotus seeds(which I haven't seen before in desserts). The combination of the milk base and toppings was yummy and not overly sweet. If I had to recommend anything it would be this. The Mango Snow Black Sticky Rice was not good at all. The milk base was completely frozen. Although I think the combination of the sticky rice and mango was good, the dessert overall was lack-luster. Both came with a drink, a jasmine milk tea, also nothing special. Since the their opening, I haven't gone back so it may have changed since then.

It tastes like they skimp on the fruit. I could barely taste any pomelo. For around $9, I expect a bit more fruit like in other boba tea places. At 70% sugar, their recomended amount, I tasted more sugar flavor than mango. Egg tarts: Seems rather tiny for the price. You get a lot of crispy crust. Filling is on the heavy egg texture/ flavor. Personally, I prefer a lighter, more delicate filling. For those of you that prefer crust over filling, then this tart is for you. Ambiance. Looks like any other boba spot. A small amount of stool seating. And a bit of bench seating in the window. Close to the movie theater and small mall area. Service is okay. You can use the kiosks if you prefer.

The T-Swirl Crepe at the Flushing location is the original flagship store of the company. Can't…read moredeny that it's certainly a very tight-knit space with only two bar stools as the seating and some standing room inside. Definitely more meant to be a grab-and-go kind of thing. They do delivery services through mobile apps like DoorDash + GrubHub + Snackpass + Uber Eats. The service from staff is fast, although they might not always be the most friendly people working in there. Place is spotless clean, tidy, and organized. The sweet & savory crepes do look like the exact replicas from the display window ~ so no false advertising at all. The ambiance wise is a cute little shop. The savory crepes make a pretty good breakfast, lunch, dinner or even just a quick snack on the go. As for the sweet crepes, it's a sweet little treat once in a while (two to three times in a month). The crepes are made with 100% rice flour. Additionally, they can be made gluten-free upon request to the staff from customers when paying with cash or card in the front counter. Every individual crepe is freshly made when customers have placed an order. Now, they've mini crepes on the menu if you don't wanna bite into a regular-sized version. You can choose to add a scoop of ice cream on the sweet crepe for an additional cost as well. My favorite sweet crepe is the Matcha Chocolate Truffles. It contains sliced strawberries + diced chocolate truffles + matcha custard cream + whipped yogurt + chocolate sauce + crushed pistachio. Has the right amount of sweetness and textures. Better eat really fast because the chocolate sauce & custard cream might start melting/leaking onto your hands. The crepe will become soggy too after 10-15 minutes or so. I think there's hand sanitizer or wipes if your hands do end up being sticky though. My favorite savory crepe is the Chicken Teriyaki. Definitely healthier and a bit more on the drier side compared to the sweet crepes with the chocolate sauce. The ingredients are chicken breast stripes + baby spinach leaves + diced carrots + corn pieces + red onions, sliced boiled eggs + sesame seeds + crunchy shallots. Sesame dressing & teriyaki sauce are drizzled on top to finish it off. Less messy to eat too because nothing is melting. Surprisingly, the crepe shell is still crispy even after 30 minutes if you're a slow eater like me! I enjoy stopping by once in a while for a sweet treat or a quick snack since it's the closest spot to my home.
