I was expecting this place to be better than it was. We went for lunch & the flavor just wasn't there. Very pricey for the portions too. We had a party of 9 & everyone agreed the red sauce is flavorless. My aunt had been there in the past & said it's now under new ownership & you can tell it's just not the same. The atmosphere is very warm and the service is good. The quality of food is declining. My wife and I use to enjoy a Cesar salad and a flat bread. The Cesar is still good but the flatbread has gone from wonderful to not worth eating. The flatbread used to be rectangular and loaded with mushrooms and sausage and a tasty cheese. Now it is round and covered with some kind of not good pesto parmesan cheese spread that must come out of a jar. On a positive note I had fried shrimp that was cooked just right and tasty. read more

This used to be our favorite restaurant, but things seem to be going downhill. My wife and stepdaughter went there last night for a birthday dinner for my wife. We ordered appetizers and they were fine. We placed our dinner order and , after a 45 minute wait, received our food. I ordered the Chicken Marsala Linguine. I'm including a picture of the chicken. It was burned completely black on one side. I tasted it and all you could taste was the burnt part. I sent it back and after about 25 minutes received another order of the Chicken Marsala. I asked them to box it for me since everyone else had finished eating. I expected that they would comp me for my order, since I wasn't able to enjoy my meal with my family. I was told by my waiter that the manager offered us a 10 percent discount on our next visit, if we called in advance. It seemed like a weak offer of compensation for a pretty miserable dining experience. We had a pretty negative experience here a few weeks ago, but we thought it was just an off night. What an unexpected dining experience in Barnesville! Beautiful layout, great lighting, classy, fancy, yet approachable. We choose to enjoy dinner at the bar. The bartender was attentive, but very busy! Food was delicious overall, mussels portion size was a bit light. Prime rib was a great size for the price point. I wouldn't recommend the piccata at all. Flavors didn't seem to balance. The Tiramisu is to die for! Oh my gosh. We will definitely be back to try the menu. read more

A few months ago a new owners took over. The dark chocolate mousse for $8 was replaced with a milk chocolate mousse that lacks the oooo and ahhh decadence of the original. There began my concerns for the future. For the last two years I consistently ordered the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The last two visits the chicken piccata is totally ruined. The sauce has been changed. The flavor is lack luster and generic. My friend gnocchi soup tastes lack luster. I dare say they have even tampered with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing recipe. I am quite disappointed that my days eating at Mangia have probably come to an end if they do not go back to the original recipe for their Piccata sauce. I can't eat what I have eaten twice now and been greatly disappointed and turned off by the experience. read more

We were there as a large group. My friend sitting across from me ordered flatbread. It was served on a wooden paddle. When the waiter set it in front of her she saw that the flatbread was burnt on the bottom. She sent it back. The chef/owner came back out with it & insisted to her that it is supposed to be served that way (burnt on the bottom of the crust). My friend argued back that burnt food is not acceptable. The owner/chef got so angry that he threw the pizza across the way, gestured angrily with the wooden paddle, then threw the wooden paddle across the way as well. He came back about 20-30 minutes later & apologized to our group but also kept making excuses for his temper tantrum & throwing of the pizza & wooden paddle saying how stressed he is & what a tough industry it is. read more

Decided to try this restaurant out for their Thanksgiving menu, and boy am I we did! The menu offerings for Thanksgiving were Mac, cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping, ham, turkey... you get the idea(plus I included a menu pic). Let's just say everything from the awesomeness of the staff to the manager and just the look and ambiance of the restaurant was just great! I met the owner, who was very visible, and came out checking on the customers and his staff. We had such an amazing experience with Thanksgiving that we have already planned a date night. I look forward to adding pics and hopefully giving another great review! Although everything was scrumptious, my fave things on the menu were probably the dressing, brussel sprouts, Mac, and turkey! read more

My mom and I ate lunch there yesterday and it DID NOT disappoint!!! The place is decorated beautifully, immediately felt a sense of relaxation. The food was delicious but the stars of the show were definitely Wes and Cam!!! They were both very attentive, more than accommodating and super friendly. It's obvious they love what they do. The owner/chef came out to the table just to say hello and to make sure we were happy. Never expected such great service and food in such a small town. This review is about service and not the food. Me and my husband have been to Mangia on Maine several times and had always thoroughly enjoyed our experience. But the last time we were there we were treated horribly by the bartender that worked that night. It was a lady and not their usual bartender. When we got there it was crowded and there was going to be a wait. So we went to the bar to wait there and to order our drinks. I ordered a red wine. I do not drink often so I didn't know the choices. She acted as if I should just know and like she was frustrated that she had to go over with me the choices. She turns to my husband who then orders a unsweet tea because he would be driving us home and we were waiting for a table. She then turns to her co worker and right in front of us says in the most rude way, he's having an unsweetened tea...please. It was so unprofessional and I actually asked the hostess to let me speak to the manager. While we were waiting for the manager the other employee brings my husband his unsweet tea in a styrofoam cup with a straw! If that wasn't a clear indication that they were trying to send us out the door I don't know what else it could mean. We got up and left immediately. Which is so unfortunate because we really enjoyed the food there. And we probably will never go back! read more

Wow, what a disappointment! Cheese ravioli and garlic bread takeout. Should have been simple and tasty and was my first trial of this place. If it went well, it would have been a new regular place for me. What I got was pasta that wasn't cooked all the way, inadequate amount of sauce, cheese tossed on top and not even melted. Garlic bread that was literally cold (not just not warm.) This is careless "who gives a damn" cooking at its worst. Saturday night as well. I hope it doesn't make me sick. From what I saw it looked nice inside and the servers were pleasant to me. However, I don't think I will give this place a 2nd chance. read more

Outstanding! Spent the day with family today in Barnesville. When it came time for lunch Mangia on Main was the recommendation. First of all the walk up to the front door was very inviting. Upon entering we were welcomed by the friendly staff and the aroma was lovely. The decor and atmosphere were beautiful. We were greeted quickly by our wait staff to take our drink orders. Being there with family that dines there regularly they shared suggestions of their favorite dishes. We settled on the Balsamic Brussels and Green Goddess Flatbread and the Shrimp Scampi Linguine. The Brussel Sprouts was a large order that that all 4 of us enjoyed! Delicious! The Flatbread was just perfect! The Shrimp Scampi was also very delicious. How fortunate for Barnesville to have this very elegant dining venue. A wonderful addition to Main Street. BTW, even the chef dropped by our table to say hello and to make sure all was well. My family and I come here a few times each month! Our server, a young blonde haired female was spectacular and so sweet! They seemed short staffed for a Saturday afternoon and she was very busy but still took care of our every need. An older lady that she was working with made it very apparent to the entire restaurant that she was stressed, overwhelmed and had too many responsibilities than she was capable of handling and unfortunately took out her anger on the younger staff by being so so rude and condescending. She wanted every customer to know of every small inconvenience she was having by talking to herself in a loud tone. "This table should've been cleaned!" "I guess I'm doing everything today!" it was terrible to watch a lady so grown have a temper tantrum. Meanwhile our server continued to work as fast as she could to get everything done. Sorry but not impressed. Spent $52 including tip on a to go order which consisted of Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken, a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and some fried ravioli. The grilled chicken was supposed to have "fresh mozzarella " on it. I received a regular slice of mozzarella cheese. The ravioli tasted like it was cooked 8 hours before I picked it up. The salad was small for the price they charged. So many other options in Griffin and Thomaston. This might be a place to eat in vs to go. I might give them another shot in about a month. read more
