I'll have to go back and try some more items. The service was lovely. Ambience super cute. The gnocchi soup of the day slid in to a Campbell's canned category. Mussels broth delicious, mussels, not so much. No dipping bread. Still. Worth another try. I wouldn't pass it by, as there's not much else in Barnesville. We took a trip from Forsyth, the next ghost town over. Next time, I might get a pasta or a sandwich.

I love how together this place feels inside. Very well appointed! Also, great service!Cam was spot on with everything! The Brussel sprouts appetizer was tasty and I really enjoyed the Chicken Mushroom Marsala linguini. There was a ton of pasta and could have used more mushrooms and sauce (or reduce the amount of pasta). Dad had the sausage pepper gnocchi dish & enjoyed it but commented it was pretty oil-heavy.

This is the Chicken Mushroom Marsala Linguine-seriously burned chicken.

This used to be our favorite restaurant, but things seem to be going downhill. My wife and stepdaughter went there last night for a birthday dinner for my wife. We ordered appetizers and they were fine. We placed our dinner order and , after a 45 minute wait, received our food. I ordered the Chicken Marsala Linguine. I'm including a picture of the chicken. It was burned completely black on one side. I tasted it and all you could taste was the burnt part. I sent it back and after about 25 minutes received another order of the Chicken Marsala. I asked them to box it for me since everyone else had finished eating. I expected that they would comp me for my order, since I wasn't able to enjoy my meal with my family. I was told by my waiter that the manager offered us a 10 percent discount on our next visit, if we called in advance. It seemed like a weak offer of compensation for a pretty miserable dining experience. We had a pretty negative experience here a few weeks ago, but we thought it was just an off night. Our meal last evening will be our last at Mangia.

What an unexpected dining experience in Barnesville! Beautiful layout, great lighting, classy, fancy, yet approachable. We choose to enjoy dinner at the bar. The bartender was attentive, but very busy! Food was delicious overall, mussels portion size was a bit light. Prime rib was a great size for the price point. I wouldn't recommend the piccata at all. Flavors didn't seem to balance. The Tiramisu is to die for! Oh my gosh. We will definitely be back to try the menu.

Wooden paddle that chef/owner threw. It hit the wall & then landed on the floor.

We were there as a large group. My friend sitting across from me ordered flatbread. It was served on a wooden paddle. When the waiter set it in front of her she saw that the flatbread was burnt on the bottom. She sent it back. The chef/owner came back out with it & insisted to her that it is supposed to be served that way (burnt on the bottom of the crust). My friend argued back that burnt food is not acceptable. The owner/chef got so angry that he threw the pizza across the way, gestured angrily with the wooden paddle, then threw the wooden paddle across the way as well. He came back about 20-30 minutes later & apologized to our group but also kept making excuses for his temper tantrum & throwing of the pizza & wooden paddle saying how stressed he is & what a tough industry it is.

This place is popular with the locals and it's well supported by them too. I plan to come back and try other things, but this is my take on what I had for my first visit. Price $10.78 without tip. Burger, onion rings and a side of their "house sauce"...no drink. Burger: The patty is similar to a smash burger and probably a 2.5 ounce patty. It was unseasoned and little dry. The bun was fresh and somewhere between a brioche and a potato bun...all of the veggies were fresh and slightly chilled...mayo/mustard and light ketchup. It wasn't a bad burger, but it wasn't an outstanding one either. It's not big burger-the bun is around 3.5" in width. Side of Onion Rings: There were 6 of them...which was a little disappointing. I didn't need a ton, but 6....come on! Other than the skimpy portion, they are a decent quality commercially produced frozen variety....came fresh out of the fryer too. House Sauce-Spicy sweet bbq sauce with a hint of vinegar....BUT holy hell was that sh*t salty. I'm sure once it gets mixed and/or poured over their bbq'd meat it would cut down on some of the salt forwardness...but as a dipping sauce...not a fan. I'm hoping it was just that batch maybe and on the regular it's not that bad...I love salt and can handle it with the best of them, but I tapped out and tossed it after two bites. Service was efficient and polite. It's a bbq/burger stand on the side of the road...I'm not going in expecting much more than that.

This area is a hard sell when it comes to restaurants, there are some town staples here, but they really aren't all that great. If you grew up eating it or what was being cooked at home was bad, then most of the places here wouldn't be all that bad to you...if those two aren't factors, then everything falls flat. Biscuits aren't scratch made. They aren't too bad though, little on the dry side..but edible. Plus side-They do use real eggs..so I will give them that..their competitors down the way certainly don't. The omelets are a little light on the egg, the ham inside is lunch meat ham and the veggies are small diced. The grits were well prepared in terms of done-ness but they don't season their grits either-but they do butter them after plating...so I'll give them some grace. I get there are two camps of grit people...salt and pepper vs. butter and sugar......but come on SALT makes things taste better, at the very least they should have salt and be made with some cream-IMO. Sausage is decent quality food service and the ladies on the griddle didn't overcook them. Hash browns are copy and paste the sausage. Overall this place is better than other places around here, it certainly lacks in the what it could be department. On the fence about coming back.

When we arrived the parking lot was packed and vehicles were in the overflow area. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The table they brought us to had not been wiped down from the previous patrons. Went to the restroom to wash my hands. The men's bathroom certainly could have used attention and the paper towels were out. We all ordered a root beer. All of us agreed the Rootbeer was completely flat and tasted watered down even though they said it came from a 2 liter. The next round we ordered sweet tea. But it was barely sweet and sadly no packets of sugar on the table. During our entire time the waitress didn't remove one dish or glass from the table. We were seated at a small square table and it became very hard to sit and eat properly due to this. Gloves were provided at the buffet serving station. I tried a little bit of most things. 01 Coleslaw, hush puppy. Average on both 02 Grouper sea bass, cat fish. Not much seasoning at all, and very slightly over cooked 03 Sautéed shrimp, very lightly seasoned with what looked like boil seasoning 04 Baked imitation crab, barely seasoned 05 Crawfish, the first batch went through a full seasoned boil and the tails were flavorful for the ones I could actually eat. Quite a few the tail meat was mushy and a very dark gray. The 2nd batch they skipped a formal and proper boil. The meat was flavorless and tasted as if it was simply boiled in water. 06 clam strips and fried scallop pieces, average at best. 07 cheese grits very soupy and not much flavor 08 peel and eat shrimp, decent flavor with a slight lemon undertone. The cocktail sauce was on the table in a red squeeze bottle. 09 banana pudding, I liked it quite a bit 10 Chocolate pudding with wafers, weird chocolate flavor. Everyone at our table pretty much agrees with the assessment of what I just wrote. The building inside and out needs updating. The seafood buffet was I think $24 dollars each or so. Sadly I was pretty disappointed overall and we will not be eating there again. Especially with the waitress leaving everything to stack up and not remove anything at all. We sat at the table for at least 5-7 minutes in a quite obvious manner that we were done. She visited the two table right beside us and never brought the bill. I decided to take it upon myself to just go up to the cash register and tell them what we had. She must have noticed me waiting in line to pay and brought our bill to me.

In this day and age it's a rare find. Even if their food wasn't as good as it was, all of their servers would be bringing up the slack. Girls and the guy...talked, smiled and genuinely looked like they cared about the places success! Salad was standard, but all of the ingredients were fresh and the ranch dressing was house made. I ended up opt-ing for the Alabama white sauce instead because the heat level was better. There wasn't much smoke on the chicken...that would be my only "negative" feedback-maybe that's the point or maybe they are using electric smokers? Wings: Were lightly fried and lightly tossed in sauce of my choice, which was the mesquite bbq...zero complaints on the taste and consistency of the wings. Neither over nor undercooked, they were perfect. Brisket Plate: Brisket was super tender and more on the roasted side of the spectrum. I would imagine they smoke and then add it into liquid to keep it from drying out waiting on table service. The bark is lost because of the liquid factor and what smoke there might have been is muted, much like the chicken. Okra was crispy and the Cole slaw was basic-but had enough Mayo for it to pass as slaw! Baked Potato: Standard set up. The potato wasn't dried out, which was nice. Pulled pork was tender...copy and paste the smoke flavor, written above. Grilled Cheese....it was grilled and had cheese. Fries were hot and crispy. We will surely be back!
