We've been meaning to try this restaurant since they opened and finally just got around to it. Wanted to love it sooooo much but it wasn't quite what we were hoping for. To start, let me say the service was awesome. The young lady, whom I should have gotten her name, was absolutely lovely. Bubbly personality, friendly and a very good server in general. Our first thought after looking at the menu was, wow, pretty pricey for Main Street Senoia. Even though everything we were told was "from Italy". The Penne alla puttanesca was good, but tiny for the price. Gluten free pizza..... hard pass. You could literally pour the ingredients off like it was soup. Both were tasty though. Just not exactly our style. The restaurant had a pretty good vibe although I'd say over lit and too bright. Another small note, if the owners do indeed read these, it was awesome to be able to try the wine we selected before we picked it out, but tiny plastic tasting cups will throw anyone out of the "fine dining" mindset. The wine however was delicious:) EDITED REVIEW AFTER OWNER RESPONCE: A little addition to my review and another two dropped stars for the grumpy passive aggressive response from owner Chris F. Well Chris F....... If you don't HAVE gluten free pizza then you loose two more stars for the waitress telling us it was gluten free when we ordered it and OVERPAID for a weak pizza soup. A business owner who responds to a decent and honest review with CAPS says a lot. And by the way Chris F, you may not have noticed, we're actually not in Italy so perhaps you don't need to try and school your ex customers with an average size portion size in Italy. And where exactly did you come up with that statistic or who even cares. I'm guessing you got that from watching the food network . I was trying to be nice with my original review but good luck keeping your sinking ship afloat. Great pasta, bad desserts. We tried two pastas, the pappardelle bolognese and the pesto gnocchi. The bolognese was delicious, super deep flavor on the sauce and it stuck great to the pasta. The gnocchi was also good. The pesto was very garlic-heavy, which we liked. Serving size was... okay. It was enough, but for the price and the fact that pasta is an inherently cheap product? A little let down. Quality of the pasta was enough to make me overlook that. Dessert is where I was incredibly disappointed. We tried the limoncello cheesecake and the tiramisu. The limoncello cheesecake was DRY, to the point of being inedible. The tiramisu wasn't awful, but was mostly the "whipped marscapone," which tasted more like a custard of some sort because it was not the flavor or texture I normally expect from marscapone. It was a bit runny and overall kind of sad. If you're not a big dessert person, this place makes yummy pasta and is worth a shot. read more

We had eaten at Borgo several years ago when they were still located in Peachtree City. We had not checked them out since their move to Senoia. However, on the Saturday of the Senoia Auto Show, most restaurants had a long wait at noon. We checked here and they did not. They basically have a patio out front with some tables, a large dining room when you enter and possibly bar seating in the back (?). Service was good. Everyone was friendly. We split a salad and each got a pasta entree. The food was good. I liked the salad a bit better than the pasta, actually. It was very flavorful. Prices seemed high, especially for lunch. I'm not sure if this was higher because of the event that day or if this was normal. That would be the only factor that might discourage me from returning. I came here on a busy Friday night with a date and we had no reservation. Alessandro made a way for us and was so attentive. I've been to Italy, and haven't had a great carbonara since.... until I came here! The portion size was insane and the flavor was incredible. Also had the bruschetta as an appetizer and the pop of pesto sauce made it even better! I also went to the bathroom and appreciated how clean it was as well as how clean the kitchen was from what I could see. Lovely restaurant with sidewalk seating available out front. Inviting environment with friendly staff and service. We enjoyed a delicious lunch here. I had the chicken piccata and my daughter had the ravioli. Both were well prepared and delicious. The side dishes were not. The side of broccoli was overcooked and mushy. There was another unidentifiable side on my plate that looked like soggy overcooked eggplant and zucchini mixed up. I was not brave enough to even attempt tasting it. Otherwise the main dishes were great. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The owner came out to meet us and I think it is important to note the restaurant is veteran owned. This is the 4th time we have eaten at Borgo Italia. Everything that we have tried on the menu has been excellent. The owner and the waitress were very personable and helpful. I had a special dish with penne pasta, salmon, and a white sauce that was perfect, my caprese appetizer was delicious, and the house salad was very good. Our son-in-law had eggplant Parmesan it was delicious. The owner also recommended a bottle of Sicilian red wine that everyone at our table loved. Last time we were in town we ate here 2 times in the same week...and we may do the same this trip...from the Memphis TN area. This restaurant is THAT GOOD...and we are an Italian family...with roots in Italy. We can't understand the 3.6 star review. We think it is one of the best restaurants we've been to. It's rare that I write reviews, but our experience at Borgo absolutely deserves one -- and for context, my wife and I are truly food obsessed. We moved here from Austin, TX and northern New Jersey, both places where excellent Italian food is easy to find. In the three years we've lived here, we've tried at least 15 restaurants in the area, and every single one has been forgettable, I'll leave it at that. Borgo changed that instantly. From the moment we walked in, I noticed something unusual: the dining room was full, yet the atmosphere was calm, lively but not loud. When we sat down, we found ourselves next to three older couples speaking Italian. That alone told me we might finally be in the right place. A lot of restaurants claim to be "family owned," but at Borgo, it's the real thing. The entire family is from Italy. The owner came over to welcome us personally and took our order with genuine warmth. His wife is the chef. His sister was checking on tables and making sure everything ran smoothly. The whole experience felt like stepping into a small trattoria in a small Italian town and I don't say that lightly. The food was exceptional. We started with the burrata with prosciutto and an arugula salad. Both were exquisite. The burrata tasted incredibly fresh and was served at the perfect temperature I don't know if it's homemade, but it certainly tasted like it. The arugula was vibrant and peppery, as if it had just been picked, and the dressing was beautifully balanced. For mains, we had the trout, the linguine with mushrooms, and the eggplant parm. Every dish was outstanding, but the eggplant parm stopped me in my tracks -- I literally closed my eyes after the first bite. It was that good. Dessert was tiramisu and the limoncello cheesecake, and both were flawless. Light, flavorful, and not overly sweet, exactly how they should be. And the service? Flawless. Warm, attentive, personal, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you're eating in someone's home rather than a restaurant. It took us 45 minutes to drive to Borgo and we cannot wait to go back. After three years of searching, we finally found a place that feels like the real deal. Last night we had the best dining experience at Borgo. Alessandro, the owner, took his time explaining the menu to us and emphasized that they only used ingredients from Italy as that does make a difference to those of us that are gluten intolerant but not Celiac. After spending a long time with the menu between the 5 of us, some of us decided to go with the tasting menu where he would personally select all the menu items that were made fresh that day to go with the red wine that we also asked him to select for us. The wine was perfect which in and of itself was a feat to have all 5 of us love it! Then the food began arriving~ Oh my good gosh! He not only brought gluten-free sourdough bread for me, but these home made garlic bread knots (Pane All'aglio e parmigiano) that were nothing short of heaven on a plate. The texture of these nearly made me cry. They were staggering! Never, and I do mean EVER, have I had such an incredible roll. Trust me, you've got to get these! We also had caprese di mozzerella, the bruschetta, penne a la puttanesca, lasagna, gnocchi, manicotti, eggplant parmesan (parmigiana di melanzane), penne all'arrabbiata, and mushroom stuffed ravioli (ravioli al funghi). I can honestly say that every single dish was absolutely A-mazing! We are not an easy crowd and yet we all agreed that this meal was just fantastic. We have only been here one previous time and this time the food was way better. I think being a newer restaurant, they are still finding their stride. This is the most authentic Italian restaurant that we've found in the 12 years we've lived in this area. when her parents come into town, this is where we meet them. Some of the reviews are a little harsh, And I hate to sound this way, but if you want to truly have an Italian dining experience from a passionate Italian business owner this is the place to go. If you want tomato gravy and some BS American excuse for Italian food don't come here. We love the owner, his menu is phenomenal and his wine choices are even better. This is unfortunately a fail. As someone who grew up outside the Italian market in Philadelphia and lived in the heart of Boston's north end, this was an enormous let down. I know, the owner is cool and he's from Italy. But, the food was average at best and the drinks were well below average. The atmosphere was cool and the staff were polite. I suppose the most egregious part was the fake authenticity, even an air of over confidence and yet they come no where near the hype; and the price was astronomical. Being generous because they seem to try really hard. Went on a busy Saturday and they managed well. Make a reservation for the weekend. Venue is relatively small but they have a bar in back. There are a few draft brews available but not a large selection, what they have is good. I had the lasagna which was exactly the way I like it, very meaty with not much ricotta. This was A.MA.ZING!! We chose Borgo Italia for our Friday Night Supper Club and it was better than I had anticipated. It's a darling little restaurant right on the main street in Senioa. Clean, perfectly comfortable, soft music. My husband suggested the $50 per person special where each person gets 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and a dessert. When our friends arrived they chose the same thing. Our waiter was one of the owners and he explained that they choose the freshest, most recently made pastas, so we didn't even have to make any decisions. Boy was he right! Of course our table ended up with 8 appetizers and 8 entrees! The food arrived quickly and just kept on coming! It was hard to choose a favorite as everything was delicioso! Had heard mixed reviews about borgo so I had to try it for myself to see. Made a Rez and arrived on time. I was seated right away. Our waiter had a lot of energy but unfortunately his Italian accent made it difficult to understand him. He did a good job, checked on us often and was family and knew the menu very well. The problem was the food quality. Out of all our dinners I think the manicotti was as the only thing that was perfect. Everything else was tougher than shoe leather. The pork dish was the worst. The chicken piccata was totally lacking in tenderness and moistness. Totally overcooked. We didn't send it back for fear of insulting them. No chicken parmigiana. It's supposed to be authentic Italian, and chic parm is American Italian. lol. True story told to me! All in all, it was ok but certainly not worth $140.00 with a tip. No wine or drinks. read more

Borgo is one of the few restaurants where I can take my family and *everyone* is happy. This visit was no exception. I'm a foodie, and for me, this place is as good as you can get anywhere close to getting genuine Italian food. The food matters, and so does the service. I recommend the bruschetta appetizer as well as the prosciutto and burrata. Both are excellent. For entrées, if you are a mushroom fan--which I am--you will not find better mushroom ravioli anywhere! Lobster ravioli is also great. Others of us had salmon and manicotti. No one left disappointed, and I had a guest from New York who can affirm that Borgo is "real deal" Italian. I also tried the amaretto sour cocktail. I had 2 of them, which should tell you something. Very good. It's unusual for me to have more than one. Finally, Alexandro and his team were so accommodating. When we moved to the area 5 years ago this was our first restaurant we ate at. The food and the service immediately took us back to the small off the beaten path restaurants in Rome. The owners welcome you as part of the family, the food is authentic and incredible, not every plate comes out looking exactly the same and that is the character we love! It is real food from real people. Since they have moved to the new location it is so much more convenient and the energy is over the top, the addition of the patio and the bar just give it the character it was missing. Now we have our small Italian eatery tucked away in a perfect location here in Senoia complete with everything to take us immediately back to Italy every time.
