This is my second time being here and it has not disappointed either time the ambience is casual, low lighting romantic we got there about 4 o'clock and by 5:30 or so it started getting really busy. The waitress was very friendly. Our food came out in a decent amount of time and it was hot and delicious. I ordered Angel hair pasta with chicken and. My husband ordered pecan chicken. They were both so delicious but huge portions so I had a pretty big take home meal.. I also had for dessert some crème brûlée. It was delicious as well. I did not get a picture of it. I forgot. This is such a cute place I found on a Google search. It's in the heart of McDonough square. Parking is a little hard around the square but there seems to be a small parking lot to the side of the restaurant. My recommendation is to Uber and then enjoy the square. I was meeting someone for lunch and this was in the middle from our destination. It had great reviews and pasta and was what I was craving. It's a small, warm and inviting little place. Service is fast and good. Menu is limited which is not a bad thing but enough variety. I absolutely loved my fettuccine. The pasta was made fresh and you could seriously taste the difference between fresh made and boxed pasta. The crème brûlée was on point and a great finish to lunch. I had plenty of left overs. Great ambiance for a date night, event or even a birthday dinner! My family took my mom here for her birthday dinner and we all enjoyed everything. Great service and you can REALLY tell all the food is homemade. A gem in the town of McDonough! Came on a work trip and this was nearby where I had to go. Everyone raved about this spot and I ended up going right when it opened at 11am! Got seated immediately and placed an order for the Black Pepper Pappadelle. It came with two bread soaked in garlic and a minestrone soup. The portion of the pasta was big and it was fairly priced. Located in the McDonough square (downtown McDonough) this small intimate spot is definitely a spot to try for all the Italian lovers. The service was warm and welcoming. This is a great local spot for pasta. I've been several times and have never had a bad experience. All of their pizzas are good. The pastas I've had are pretty good. All the soups are really good as well. The servers are always very nice and helpful. This is a probably not the best place if you want to bring a large group though. I wouldn't bring more than 4 people at a time because the restaurant is kind of small and they can only do so much. Overall I'm going to keep coming back. read more

The rolls they serve taste store bought with butter and garlic thrown on top. The Crispy Eggplant was very bland and just tastes like fried batter. The Caesar Salad was decent. The Tri-Color Bowties were the best thing we had and the only thing I'd consider going back for. It's very flavorful and seasoned well. The Penne Rigate really lacks flavor and looks better than it tastes. The cannolis are average. This is a very popular Italian restaurant in this city. The food is mediocre overall. The food is greasy and contains lots of oil and covered in cheese. The service was fine and my server was attentive. I ordered the Cesar salad which was good but when asked for extra dressing it was a glop of something that tasted like stale mayonnaise yuck. My tricolored pasta with chicken and mushrooms corn and tomatoes was ok but very very very oily and cheesy. The chocolate chip cheesecake was delicious however, the cannolis were definitely stale. I could not send it back because my dining partner ate a small piece but it was definitely awful and we both spat it out. I was disappointed. My daughter and I decided to try the restaurant last Saturday on a whim. We were hoping we could find a new Italian eatery on those days I didn't want to cook it. And, we totally lucked out! Pasta Max Cafe was a quaint cafe. The name gives me fast food vibes and almost scared me away. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! It was quite busy, but we were seated before the wait time they provided, so that was great. We even explored a bookstore down the street while waiting on our table. I loved that they took my number and called when the table was ready. You don't normally see that with small places. Now, the food was great. The Seafood Mixed Grill was very flavorful. The seafood was fresh and well-cooked. The sauce reminded me of a Marsala sauce almost. My only issue was the Vegetable Risotto. I was expecting a rice forward risotto. I may have had 10 grains of rice. They should literally just call it a side of vegetables and drop risotto from the name. The rice in the picture is all the rice I found. I only ordered my meal because it came with risotto. I was looking forward to having the risotto, so to get a plateful of veggies was disappointing. My daughter enjoyed her eggplant parmigiana. It was such a large portion that she was able to take half home for another meal. The minestrone was very flavorful. The pizza was very good. The crust, the sauce, the cheese, and the pepperoni were perfect notes to the perfect melody of the pizza. It really turned my mood about the no-rice risotto. We will definitely be going back. La Caprese, stuffed eggplant, and chocolate creme brulee. A great night indeed. The La Caprese was actually my favorite dish. According to the menu, this dish is "chilled mozzarella cheese and vine-ripened tomatoes with pesto and reduced balsamic vinegar." I'm a big fan of balsamic vinegar and pesto. The cheese, tomatoes, and spinach tasted extremely fresh. This was a very healthy dish that was also very delicious! Minestrone and rolls were also great. The stuffed eggplant was crispy and tasty. It came with pasta on the side. Great portions as well. The waitress was nice enough to give me a dessert on the house because the chef burned the first eggplant and had to redo the dish before it left the kitchen, making the second dish a long wait. For dessert, I've never had chocolate creme brulee, so I ordered it. It was good, but not great. The chocolate just didn't give the creme brulee the texture and creaminess that egg yolks do. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! I have a peanut and tree nut allergy and the restaurant was very accommodating! Our waitress made sure I was safe to eat here! My husband and I walked into this very small restaurant and there was no one there to greet us. It had a dark ambiance and it was a little confusing where we were supposed to go to get a table. I also didn't get a good feeling about the location and vibe of the place. We walked all the way to the back of the restaurant and stood in front of a counter where people were picking up takeout. It looked like there was a hostess who was busy doing other things and we were unable to get her attention. After waiting for over 10-15 minutes just standing by the counter we saw there was a table open and thought maybe this restaurant was supposed to be self seating. So we sat down and started looking through the menu provided. Finally the hostess came to us at the table and said there was a wait and we had to put our name on the list in order to be seated. So we got up from the table and went back to the counter we previously stood at and put our name and phone number down. The phone number was so we could receive a text for when our table was ready. Then we walked outside and waited for a while. Other people were waiting outside too and we heard them talking about how there were tables open but people weren't being seated. It definitely seems like the restaurant doesn't have enough help to accommodate customers. Some of the other people outside decided to leave and after a little while of waiting we decided to leave too. Unfortunately, we never even got experience the food at this restaurant. But I'm so thankful we left when we did! We ended up getting back on the road and found a much better option for Italian food. We had dinner at The Italian Oven on Eagles Landing Parkway in Stockbridge, Georgia. It was an incredible experience and we had great service and food over there! We were seated immediately when we walked in and it was well lit and clean. We never even got the text message for our table reservation at Pasta Max. I guess we would still be waiting for our table over there. Oh well! ‍ My recommendation for you would be to skip this restaurant and go over to the Italian Oven. We had such a wonderful experience!! It was so much better and the food was hot and delicious!! I'm thankful we found that place because we were very hungry and got to eat right away. read more

I cannot believe I grew up so close to Pasta Max Cafe and am just now trying it! I came here on a weekend night and the place was packed! I can't remember if they take reservations or not, but if they do, I highly recommend making them, because the place was packed! The dining area is small, yet charming and intimate. The restaurant is locally owned and has been up and running for over 30 years. It is definitely a staple in Henry county. I love the complimentary bread service they offered. The rolls were light & fluffy drizzled with olive oil and a touch of garlic. It was hard to eat just one, but I wanted to save room for my pasta entrée. There were several on the menu that I wanted to choose, but I selected Chicken Parmigiana dish. First of all, I was blown away by the portion sizes of their dishes. Their chefs are heavy-handed and you will definitely be leaving with leftovers. The piece of chicken I got was almost the size of my plate and the bowl was filled to the brim with pasta! Not to mention, the prices are very fair, especially in today's inflated market. The red sauce in my dish was unique to any red sauce I've tried before. I couldn't pinpoint what the special ingredient was, but it's definitely a standout taste in the sauce. I highly recommend any of the pastas that have red sauce. We also got the calamari appetizer that had the same yummy red sauce for dipping. The calamari was fresh, battered and fried well, and plenty was given for our table of three to share. We also ordered a large pepperoni pizza to see if their pies were as good as their pastas! Yep, they are, so I suggest ordering one of each for the table! Be sure to leave room for dessert because the tiramisu is to die for. Again, they give you a huge serving size of the cake and you can tell it's definitely homemade. This is some of the best tiramisu I've ever had, and I am very picky about my tiramisu. Last but not least, our service was outstanding. Even though the place was packed and only two servers working, they were on it! Our dishes came out quickly, food was hot, and drinks were refilled constantly. We were in and out at a reasonable time. I can't wait to go back and try some more of their food. If you are in the McDonough Square, make sure you choose this restaurant to dine at!
