August 09, 2024, Gabinos, Jackson, GA 5:20 pm We were taking our friend out for her birthday, and she chose Gabinos. Initially we were going to go to the Locust Grove location, but I noticed online they had a Jackson location. Very convenient since they live in Jackson nest I-75. They had tried the LG location a couple weeks back and liked it. My wife and I had never been to any Gabinos before. We arrived and had ample parking to select from. We entered the restaurant and we're seated within 1 minute. The server gave us each a menu and took our drink order immediately. They serve Coke products. I selected the Mr Pibb ($2.95). The drink was nice and sweet, and good carbonation Since this was our first time, and our friends second time, we had to look over the menu. The server checked back in on us three times making sure that she was there when we were ready. While we waited, we snacked on some salsa and tortilla chips which were provided complimentary. Salsa was very thin on ingredients and runny. The tortilla were cooked a bit too long. All of us agreed on this point. I ordered the two meat fajita combo, for two people size. ($31.95) I wanted to have some for the wife and I tomorrow as well. Once we placed our order, the items were out within 7 minutes, steaming hot. We all remarked about how quickly the items arrived. My two meats were steak, and chicken. Both meats were pound down thinly, and partially precut. They were on your standard cast iron platter. The meat was on top of some vegetables. Not too much of the veggies under it. Since it was the size order for two, it came with 3 flour tortilla, for each person, rolled in aluminum foil. They looked to be about 6 inches round. The meats did have seasoning, but I would consider it on the much lighter side. The chicken tasted fine, but it did have a weird chew to it when biting through it. The steak was on the done side of cooked vs medium, so it had some toughness to it. Even though the meats were a bit chewy, it still didn't ruin the meal. I should have asked for the steak to be cooked medium. The side plate had a small lettuce amount, about 3 tbsp of pico, rice, beans with cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Our server was fantastic. She checked on us very often, and refilled things quickly without needing to be requested to. Overall I felt this was an average food experience. Nothing for the meal stood out as fantastic, nor as bad. I will likely not visit again, as it isn't to my personal taste preference. read more

Fast service even on a busy Friday. We had tacos, burritos and carnitas. Tacos were great but may not try beef burrito again. Clean areas and tables. We will return and try fajitas that looked great going to next table. Server was very attentive and helpful. Glad we came!!!! read more

It is not Mexican food I can get out west in New Mexico Az or Ca. But it is goodfor what they have I almost always get the poblano stuffed peppers, Out west the dish is called Chiles Rellenos. Never sent one back. The tamals can be hit or miss, a few times they have been hard and dry pretty sure they get reheated in a microwave, The spinched stuffed chicken was really good. I will order it again. Fried Ice cream is a cold pre-fried taco salad shell cold and stale, some ice cream and chocolate sauce with some sprinkles and whipped cream. Even the 10 year old didn't eat it. Over all not bad for and amricanized mexican place. Staff is friendly. read more

Six of us ate there on Saturday night. A waitress took our order after sitting there for about ten minutes. Ten minutes later a waiter came over and asked us for out order??? Told him we had already given it to the waitress. After over 30 minutes our food finally arrived for five of us and it was very cold. It had to have being sitting out for a long time. In Mexican restaurants the food usually arrives on Very hot plates. Mexican food does not taste good cold. Asked her where the food was for the sixth person and she said someone else must have grabbed it??? He finally got his food when the rest of us were about done with our meal. Just had lunch at Gambinos, Mexican Grill food was well prepared and presented salsa is a large part of a Mexican meal for me. I have it on top of everything and it with chips. The salsa I had was the worst I have ever had. The service was very good. Didn't have any complaints about that. The restaurant is always very clean and well-kept. Nice atmosphere. I have been there many times over the years and I always found everything excellent but this time the salsa was so bad it really threw shadow over the whole meal. I don't know if I'll ever go back. So far so good the salsa is awesome. The chips taste a little on the stale side but the salsa is making up for that.i ordered aka carte because I can never make up my mind. Two hard shell tacos and a grilled steak burrito which was really yummy and of course I couldn't eat it all so the burrito came home with me. Service was a little lacking. Check your order. It does not matter how many times you've eaten there in person, check everything. I ordered chicken fingers and fries. I got a container of fries with 4 1/2 'mushy and chewy nuggets. The chips had a burnt taste and they were stale. They had the bag knotted and ready to go, $13 buck plus a tip, wasted. NEVER GO HERE!!!!! Employee who works here told me he spat in my food and looked at me MENACINGLY!!!! When I tried to re enter the restaurant and address the situation they began laughing at me with the door locked and began to yell at me. What a JOKE!! I haven't had this bad of service since the last time I visited McDonald's! We visit the Locust Grove location at least once a week, and have NEVER been served such a small portion of chicken! You can see in the photos where the full chicken breast was served on the plate, and then cut in a square! Seriously? What about this plate says "I'm worth $11.25"? Luis was our server and when we asked if the plate was the lunch portion he told us no.. when we mentioned the Locust Grove location served a WHOLE chicken breast, his response was "we are not the same as them". We then asked for a manager, and Luis said they do not have a manager.. I call B.S! I then commented that I would not be back and he shrugged his shoulders, and responded " We do not care". That is fine, I do not care to tip then! Thank you Luis, you should be employee of the month! read more

More money, less food. The prices here are way higher than most Mexican restaurants in a 30 mile radius. The food is edible but, nothing special. I've eaten here 3 times and each time my food was brought out barely lukewarm. All of the sauce is very watery. All around very bland almost tasteless meals each time. Chicken burrito had a smell similar to that of canned cat food. 3 strikes you're out. I recommend taking the extra time and just driving to somewhere in Griffin, Hampton or Locust Grove. read more

First time at this new location. Came in on Sunday early afternoon. There was only 3 tables seated so no long wait. The server was attentive mostly. I did find it really weird that when she asked me if I wanted a refill to remove my straw. I took it and she walked away with my cup. That's gross. 1. I don't want to touch my straw, 2. I don't want you to disappear with my cup. Needless to say I didn't drink anything after that. I will say however the food is really good. I ordered the Pollo Loco. A thin chicken breast breaded served on a bed of roasted poblano and peppercinis with rice and a side chicken enchilada. The chicken breast is the most tender piece of meat I've ever had. Pretty consistent with the other locations too. I would like to have given a 4 star but man, I can't stand when servers take my drink away from the table to refill it. This is clean and nice working with nice workers the only issues for me is that some of the food taste very questionable and in no offense but offense the food makes me want to throw up every time I've been a few times because of family things. This is a spin off of their restaurant in Locust Grove, but "smarter". Brush up on your Spanish, the kid at the desk was fresh off the bus. I had a steak fajitas lunch with retried beans and rice, tortillas, guacamole and the tastiest red salsa, not too hot or mild. My sister had a yummy beef taco and enchilada lunch. Very reasonable and clean. Waited for my take-out by sipping a mojito, with just enough mint and crushed ice, made my stay pleasant on a Saturday afternoon. I would go back for dinner and have a beer or mixed drink, also at reasonable prices. read more

Stopped in the middle of the week between 1:00 and 2:00. Fifteen minute wait after I placed my to go order. Wait staff repeatedly walked by me as I waited to place my order, but it was over 5 minutes before someone finally came to help. Place looked clean and was moderately busy for the after lunch crowd. Ordered the enchilada plate and cheese dip. Price was reasonable. Up to this point, the restaurant could have still earned 5 stars from me, but when the food came out, it was barely warm...no where near hot. I had unmelted cheese in the cheese dip. The chicken enchilada was cold (not warm, cold) in the center. If you serve the food barely warm, how can I know you're keeping the food at the correct temp in the back? I can't, and with cold food delivered to your customers, I have to believe that the food isn't being kept hot enough in the back. I reheated the food at home (ie, melted all the cheese), and it tasted good. If it had been served hot, I would have given this place 5 stars. Too bad. I won't eat here again. read more

We love Gabino's, we would drive to Locust Grove and eat here all the time. They then opened a location in Jackson and we even eat more Mexican food than before!! There fajitas are the best and so are the tacos, cheese dip and the homemade salsa!!! read more
