When we arrived the parking lot was packed and vehicles were in the overflow area. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The table they brought us to had not been wiped down from the previous patrons. Went to the restroom to wash my hands. The men's bathroom certainly could have used attention and the paper towels were out. We all ordered a root beer. All of us agreed the Rootbeer was completely flat and tasted watered down even though they said it came from a 2 liter. The next round we ordered sweet tea. But it was barely sweet and sadly no packets of sugar on the table. During our entire time the waitress didn't remove one dish or glass from the table. We were seated at a small square table and it became very hard to sit and eat properly due to this. Gloves were provided at the buffet serving station. I tried a little bit of most things. 01 Coleslaw, hush puppy. Average on both 02 Grouper sea bass, cat fish. Not much seasoning at all, and very slightly over cooked 03 Sautéed shrimp, very lightly seasoned with what looked like boil seasoning 04 Baked imitation crab, barely seasoned 05 Crawfish, the first batch went through a full seasoned boil and the tails were flavorful for the ones I could actually eat. Quite a few the tail meat was mushy and a very dark gray. The 2nd batch they skipped a formal and proper boil. The meat was flavorless and tasted as if it was simply boiled in water. 06 clam strips and fried scallop pieces, average at best. 07 cheese grits very soupy and not much flavor 08 peel and eat shrimp, decent flavor with a slight lemon undertone. The cocktail sauce was on the table in a red squeeze bottle. 09 banana pudding, I liked it quite a bit 10 Chocolate pudding with wafers, weird chocolate flavor. Everyone at our table pretty much agrees with the assessment of what I just wrote. The building inside and out needs updating. The seafood buffet was I think $24 dollars each or so. Sadly I was pretty disappointed overall and we will not be eating there again. Especially with the waitress leaving everything to stack up and not remove anything at all. We sat at the table for at least 5-7 minutes in a quite obvious manner that we were done. She visited the two table right beside us and never brought the bill. I decided to take it upon myself to just go up to the cash register and tell them what we had. She must have noticed me waiting in line to pay and brought our bill to me.

This place is popular with the locals and it's well supported by them too. I plan to come back and try other things, but this is my take on what I had for my first visit. Price $10.78 without tip. Burger, onion rings and a side of their "house sauce"...no drink. Burger: The patty is similar to a smash burger and probably a 2.5 ounce patty. It was unseasoned and little dry. The bun was fresh and somewhere between a brioche and a potato bun...all of the veggies were fresh and slightly chilled...mayo/mustard and light ketchup. It wasn't a bad burger, but it wasn't an outstanding one either. It's not big burger-the bun is around 3.5" in width. Side of Onion Rings: There were 6 of them...which was a little disappointing. I didn't need a ton, but 6....come on! Other than the skimpy portion, they are a decent quality commercially produced frozen variety....came fresh out of the fryer too. House Sauce-Spicy sweet bbq sauce with a hint of vinegar....BUT holy hell was that sh*t salty. I'm sure once it gets mixed and/or poured over their bbq'd meat it would cut down on some of the salt forwardness...but as a dipping sauce...not a fan. I'm hoping it was just that batch maybe and on the regular it's not that bad...I love salt and can handle it with the best of them, but I tapped out and tossed it after two bites. Service was efficient and polite. It's a bbq/burger stand on the side of the road...I'm not going in expecting much more than that.

Let's face it, it's pretty hard to mess up Americanized Mexican food. Some form of meat, cheese,…read moreonion, tomato, peppers, tortilla...maybe a mushroom..Mild salsa, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream...repeated 80 slightly different ways. Honestly, for like an entire year I drove passed the place thinking it was closed down and covid had gotten them...but I saw lights on and cars parked outside one weekend night...then realized it was in fact open and operating on a daily basis the whole d*mn time! Also, it's attached to a gas station..so there's that. Service was good. Our server was polite and attentive, even though we got there super early after work and were basically the only table there for a while. It did pick up and other servers came on shift around the time more people breezed in. Margaritas...don't...just save your blood sugar and get a beer. Their pre-mix is too sweet and zero hint of sour/tartness. If there is any tequila in it, there isn't much as well...I forced myself to finish it and moved to beer. Food...it was alright. Nothing great, but nothing bad. My husband got the 3 Taco plate. His picks were El Pastor, Lengua and Carne Asada....he said they were all a little dry and overcooked, but flavor wise, they were alright. Between you and me...he piled so much stuff on top of them: cheese dip/beans/rice/salsa/guac...I'm not even sure he could taste a flavor. I had the Pollo Bandido..not very exciting, but it was good. The chicken was a little overcooked and the mushrooms/onions were diced a little on the small side...but meh, I didn't have to cook it or clean up after it..so it was fine! Oh! I ordered what I thought was a side of sautéed poblanos'-which I was going to dump onto my chicken...BUT it turned out to be a stuffed poblano with shredded chicken/cheese and topped with salsa. Cleary not just poblanos'! Knowing the error of my ways NOW....I would have just ordered a couple of those little things, because they were WAY better...then got a side of rice and beans...and *bam* that would have been a perfect dinner! There are other Mexican options in the area, this one is just like the others...El Durango, El Toro Loco, Los Arcos...all the same and on any given night, each place will have an off night or be super slammed/slow...just pick whichever is least busy and open.

The staff are nice, helpful and lowkey. Their menu has several things that you don't see at most Mexican restaurants in the area. And their quesadillas are simple yet incredible!! I don't know what kind of cheese they use, but it is unctuous, buttery and soft and melty and rich. I went there for my birthday. I just went there for lunch and then again for dinner today, because I couldn't stop thinking about how great the quesadillas are. The Chicken Chipotle is broiled perfectly in a rich sauce that is balanced and doesn't overdo. My wife loves the steak salad with grilled mushrooms and pesto. Open faced poblanos with grilled chicken is my favorite so far. These are savory dishes with deep flavors that don't come out of a can. It really is fine food. The family provides the service and they take care to get things right, although sometimes they are stretched thin at rush hour. The ambiance is cheery and clean. The dining area is surprisingly large with many tables, a dozen booths, and a separate bar area. It's a popular family joint, often with groups and large parties. It's still fine for date night - just not on a Saturday.
