So I'm only giving this place 5 stars because of the food. It is amazing. Now let me point out a couple of things 1. I am in the restaurant industry as a bartender, server, and I manage a restaurant as well. 2. I happen to live by the airport. 3.I am huge on "customer service" This place lacks personality, I dont think I've ever been smiled at in this establishment and I pass a million sushi places coming from the airport all the way to Jackson for this BLAH CUSTOMER SERVICE especially been in Jackson. This place is kid friendly, the staff is super welcoming and accommodating, and the food was AMAZING. One of the best California rolls I've had, my partner agrees. Such great portion sizes as well!! Went in for dinner and was very surprised. The service was great. New staff and did a great job of making sure I was taken care of. I had sushi to start which was excellent. The teriyaki salmon sat on cooked onions and broccoli. A bowl of steamed rice on the side. The clear soup was very refreshing. My wife and I recently dined at Saki for the first time. I'd always heard good things about it having grown up in Jackson. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. The service we received was phenomenal and the price was reasonable. We went on a Saturday night expecting a crowd, but we were seated and waited on immediately. Well the first thing you wanna know is if I'd eat here again and the answer is a resounding YES. For such a small town Saki's dinners are awesome! Honey had sushi and me being not such a fan of seaweed or raw fish had my usual steak yummy iiuuyggyyyyyyhabachi. Fried rice of course w no mushrooms or broccoli and it was really yummy! Steak cooked perfectly and they added extra zucchini and carrots just like I asked for. Service was good and dinner came out quickly. I almost forgot but you have to try the gouza. I've passed this place several times as I travel through Jackson and have wanted to try it every since. The restaurant is generally clean and spacious, the bar is the central figure of the room and it is adequately stocked with libations for most patrons. The draft beer selection is limited, but that's to be expected in a small-town Hibachi. The service was attentive, and the waitresses worked quickly. The salad and soup were tasty, and well prepared. The Spicy Salmon Roll was ascetically pleasing and well constructed with ample fish, but its taste was rather bland; the salmon was drowned out by the spicy sauce & crunchy seasoning. The Hibachi chicken, and Hibachi Steak & Shrimp came decently prepared, hot, and smothered in teriyaki sauce. The stir-fry veggies were too heavy with broccoli, only littered with some carrots and onions. The chicken and shrimp were somewhat rubbery & stringy. On the whole, if you've got a sushi craving and can't drive the extra 10 minutes to Locust Grove, then give it a shot. Otherwise, I'd pass. read more

I love the location because it's on an old small town street with old town buildings. There is plenty of parking right beside this restaurant. When you walk in there is a hostess stand that you wait to be seated at. It's mostly booths around the sides and a nice sized bar in the middle. They have beer on tap. Their Diet Coke was perfect. I had the soup and salad and Angel roll and I loved every bit of it. We had the two spring rolls appetizer and it was really good. My husband had the chicken and steak hibachi dinner and he was very pleased with it. I tried some and it was definitely good. The fried rice looked plain but the texture was right. The servers were very eager to make sure you have everything you need and want which made me happy to leave a good tip. We will be back. read more

I am gonna give Saki 3 stars cause I want and need them to survive. They have lasted this long in a town that generally chews up and spits out restaurants. The food is average and the service is okay but dang, no personality to this place. Almost like eating in a morgue, or at least how I envision that to be. Or maybe a library. The name of this restaurant, Saki, is a mispelling of the alcoholic beverage sake based on what I'm assuming is a local mispronunciation of the word. The photomanipulated picture of Mount Fuji lining the outside of the building is the first hit on a Google image search for "Japan." So yeah, it's that kind of place. The food isn't bad, but it's not particularly good either. This restaurant's problem is that it has tried to Americanize its dishes in ways that are disappointingly uncreative and unappetizing. For example, by "ginger salad dressing" they mean mayonnaise. It's gross. Why not just use real ginger dressing? Their "miso soup" is watered-down egg drop soup. It's inedible. Why not just use real miso? Their gyoza are steamed refrigerated Chinese-style dumplings with soy sauce. It's bland and unappetizing. Why not just grill the dumplings like real gyoza and use real gyoza sauce? The tempura I ordered came out looking like something from Long John Silver's, and our server assured me that the watery dipping sauce that came with it was "real Japanese tempura sauce." Yuck. I'm happy that a Japanese restaurant has opened in Jackson, but the food is unnecessarily mediocre. If you're up for Japanese, it's worth your while to get in the car and make the trip to the place in Locust Grove. If you're going to eat here anyway, I recommend the teriyaki dishes, which come out on sizzling hot plates like fajitas. read more

If this had six stars, I would give them those six stars. We were regular sushi eaters at the Hampton location. When that burned down we were devastated. We thought we'd never have perfect sushi again. A month later, someone told us that there was a location in Jackson and we headed for it right away. Finding our old sushi chef and some of the Hampton staff was a great surprise! The sushi here is always fresh, always delicious and always served with artistry. He is light on the rice, which we have come to love, so that the flavors really shine. We are huge fans of the miyako roll (not on the menu) and the Lucky Dragon roll. Recently he had us try a squid salad and it was absolutely delicious. If you do like the hibachi meals, they cook them in the back so you don't have to endure a show and they are fast and flavorful. My family and I can't get enough of Saki. We really miss visiting the Hampton location, but we're thrilled that it has opened in Jackson. The hibachi is great. My son loves the steak fried rice now that he is a little older, but having chicken nuggets on the menu was very accommodating when he was younger. The sushi....best around. This was my first time eating at Saki with my boyfriend as we recently moved to the area. The waitress that waited on us was very unprofessional and had a lack of knowledge about the menu. She was wrong about what she told us, which we thought sounded incorrect. She didn't attempt to ask anyone else about the question we had and persisted that she was correct about the question we had. We later asked another waiter, who told us that the information was incorrect. It was frustrating to us going to a new restaurant and having questions but being told wrong. Her attitude was also displeasing and made it hard to enjoy our time there. The food was delicious and we would've loved to give this place a 5 star but with the service, it was hard to do. We will be back and hope to get a different waiter/waitress. read more

Ok, I'm originally from Jackson. And aside from great barbecue at Fresh Air, pretty good Mexican food, and an occasional nice diner---Jackson's never been a place for food. Saki has changed that. A friend took me there several months ago. The only place I know of that has fish this fresh and good (and I'm writing of sushi places) is Umi (Buckhead, not Eagles Landing)--which is awesome, but costs a fortune. The chef/owner is a really cool guy--very knowledgeable. I live in Jonesboro, the nearest pretty good sushi is in Locust Grove (Koji), about 25 minutes away. But my wife and I gladly drive the extra 12-15 minutes for Saki. The place is incredible, and unless you live in Atlanta proper (and especially if on the Southside)--this place is worth the drive. I just hope they stay in business. read more
