I have been trying to find a spot with good fried catfish. I enjoyed the catfish, shrimp and chips! Well seasoned and good.

Everyone was nice and food was good. Thank you. We had the Mandy special not too expensive. Our total was then $40.

Servers was rude, food was descent, tables were sticky and not clean. Wasn't as fresh as I'd like it to be

This review is for the newest Mandy's on Indian School and 27th Avenue. I visited this establishment on a Monday around 6:10 PM. I ordered the three piece fish and chips. I chose the Cod cooked in English style. I also sampled the six piece oysters. The oysters were very good, although a bit small. The cod was also very good, and the English batter was crunchy. The food quality is on par with other fish and chip places that I've tried. When I arrived at this establishment, there was 1-2 people waiting for their order. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my order. There was no one eating inside, however that could've been due to the holiday. Their menu is extensive and also includes a fish sandwich, burgers, gyros, cheesesteak, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken wings and popcorn shrimp. They also offer various side orders, mozzarella sticks, jalapeño, poppers. Desserts, such as pecan pie, carrot cake, strawberry cheesecake, as well as fried desserts, like fried Oreos, fried Twinkies, fried KitKat. They also offer various milk shakes. The establishment is located on Indian School and 27th Ave, not the best area, but worth the visit if you're craving fish and chips. I look forward to trying more of their menu. read more

If I had to choose between this place or Ed's, I wouldn't be able to. They're both exquisite and I love them both. Like... they each do things just a *little* differently, but they do what they do incredibly well. I think Mandy's has a few more options than Ed's, but I think we preferred Ed's burgers just a tiny bit more. I love that they have Kool-Aid on tap here, and their fried oysters were just perfect. Everything we had was just fantastic, and I can't wait to go back. This place really is a hidden west valley gem, and you should go eat there and support them. Now. Lo and behold, there is actually some decent fish in the west valley! I usually stay away from fish in the desert because most places only have catfish, but I noticed that Mandy's had cod so I decided to try it out. They're located in a strip mall next to my favorite panaderia so it wasn't hard to find. I ordered their "special of the day," which was a 3 piece code with 3 shrimp, 3 hushpuppies, and some fries. The meal cost roughly $10 dollars. Being from the Northwest, I tend to prefer their style of fish, but this stuff was pretty damn good. I think it was cajun or Southern style, because it was very similar to the catfish I had at Papa Joe's in Phoenix. The shrimp were awesome and the hushpuppies had a nice kick, but the fries were pretty bland and flavorless. Overall, I would definitely come back here, even though they made me wait about 30 minutes because they forgot I was there. A guy took my order, but disappeared and didn't wait around to give me my food. The only reason I didn't wait longer was because they brought food for some people that came after me after were shocked to see me sitting there. Uh, yeah. Thanks for making me feel important as a first time customer. Nevertheless, it's affordable, good food and I'll probably go back once I forget about being pissed off at them. read more

Grocery store (Think Fry's, Costco, Sam's) shrimp just dropped in grease: fries taste potatoey and potato salad was up to par. I guess they make their own sauces (tarter and shrimp sauce) but umm..no. Shrimp sauce taste and smell like salsa. Okra was cool after I put seasoning on it. Fish was ok too but still, no seasoning. Living near downtown Phoenix it's rare I'm this far west to continue my crusade for finding the best Fish n Chips in the Phoenix area. COVID didn't make it quite the visit I was hoping since I had to do takeout. Nonetheless, it was cooked to order which was a good first sign... I placed my order then waited about 10 minutes. They had a special of fish and shrimp for a great price. The fish was good, not overcooked (tends to happen with fast food). The shrimp had more batter than I tend to prefer but was still good. The batter is crispy (despite my 20 minute ride home). What really surprised me were the hushpuppies. I'm typically not a big fan and would not have ordered them separately, but these were great! They weren't just a mash of corn batter but had a nice mix of onion and spices. I'll be back when the tables open again. read more

Food was overall good. Really enjoyed the fish and the hush puppies. The only downfall to this place is that the bathroom smells really horrible, almost like a plumbing issue, seems that it should be a health code violation type of issue. Upon walking in to the restaurant, I smelt a strong odor and just thought that it was maybe the fishy smell but when entering into the bathroom, I damn near fainted and threw up, if I hadn't ordered already I would have instantly fled. The food was good. I had the Fried Cod, Fried Shrimp, Hush Puppies and Fries combo. Portions were generous, as I shared this with my wife. My wife had the Fried Clams, and she said that was a good portion as a side, but not as a meal. I don't think that it was that expensive, so perhaps it was intended to be just a side. We could have used more tartar sauce, and will ask for such on our next visit. We did receive a generous amount of the cocktail sauce. We will be back.... read more

Fish sandwich was disappointing just hamburger bun and two pieces of fish. No cheese no tartar sauce. Not worth the 13.00. Also, the restroom smells like a sewer and the lady that checked me out was rude. Not friendly at all. Only thing good about the place was the onion rings. Crusty Catfish, Batman! This place is phenomenal! The food here is fresh and super tasty. The fish was fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. Not greasy at all and loads of flavor. The shrimp man's chicken are super good too. Chicken is real meat and not processed. French fries are crinkle style and nice and thick, not shoestring style. After reading all the great reviews on Yelp, my husband, daughter and I decided to drive an extra hour to try out Mandy's Fish & Chips. My daughter ordered the cheeseburger & fries while my husband and I opted for the Special, 3 fish & fries with 3 shrimps and 3 hush puppies. My daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger. Unfortunately, the Special was not so special for my husband and I. The catfish and shrimp were all overcooked and composed of mostly of breading. Since it was overly fried, the breading was hard and difficult to eat. We tried to peel off the crush but that left little meat. We basically had to scrap the bits of fish off with our teeth. The hush puppies were little round hockey pucks. We didn't attempt to eat them to avoid a trip to the dentist. Lastly, the French fries looked good but lacked seasoning. We mistakenly saved it for last so were no longer hot by the time we noticed the lack of seasoning. The salt just bounced off. Needless to say, we were not full after our meal. read more

Not bad Mandys Fish and Chips has a very large menu. They offer everything from fish, shrimp, wings, chicken nuggets, burgers, sandwiches, clam strips, hush puppies, and all the usual fried side items. Mandy's Fish and Chips offers three kinds of fish, Cod, catfish, and tilapia. I ordered the two piece cod. My entree came with a side of fries and my sister and nephew had the chicken nuggets, shrimp, fries, and onion rings. The meal was good. The fish was served hot and fresh as were the fries. As I said the fish was good, just nothing really stood out, maybe I'm just not a big fish and chips fan. If you're craving some yummy fried goodness, this is the spot! We have sampled many of their offerings and sides and not one disappointed us. Crispy, tasty, good portions, and good prices. The English fish batter is not like beer battered. It's more akin to fried chicken batter. I've never had fish that way and it was good! They also have cornmeal batter. We liked that you could choose what type of fish you want as well. The hushpuppies are seasoned perfectly and some of the best I've had. When we got home , i immediately started tasting my fish . First bite was a bit salty , but then by the second bite , not so much . I added malt vinegar and then dipped my cod in the provided hot sauce , and ohh man was this fish good . I then tried the fries , and they where pretty good as well . Fish and fries had steamed a bit in the styrofoam container on the way home . But I still enjoyed both the fish and chips . Next time I will eat there to keep my fish and chips crunchy ! I also want to try the mango habanero wings next . Mandy's fish and chips was better tasting than (Pete's fish and chips) in my opinion , by far . And of course better than long John's . My 2 piece (which actually came with 3 pieces cost approx $7.99 and my daughters Mandy's special with 4 pieces of fish ( that was actually 5) and 3 shrimp ( was actually 4 , fries and hush puppy was approx $12 and change . So , all in all , an inexpensive meal for two , and great tasting . I can't wait to bring my wife and son with us next time , to try more of their food . The food was hot and fresh customer service was great and for what I ordered it was pretty fast. I got catfish,cod, shrimp, fries and hush puppies for 10.49 it was a great deal lots of food. As far as how everything tastes the catfish is good but I'm not a fan of their particular breading. Cod lacked seasoning but once you get that Louisiana hot sauce on it it's magical. Hush puppies were great Their tartar sauce is sweet I don't like it at all. The cocktail sauce is not traditional it's got to much Tyme or oregano and fries were good as well. 7/10 for me over all experience.
