I have been here twice, two years apart. After my glowing review I decided to come back. Unfortunately, what I didn't fully understand was that to show up on a Saturday night without a reservation (for a Chinese buffet?) would result in a 1.75 hour wait. But I waited it out in their tiny waiting area. When I got in, the food was good but not great. I later learned why... I got terribly sick during my visit and spent the rest of the evening with a stomach bug. Did I get it here? Before my visit? I dunno, but I don't think it was related to the food itself. So I will let my 2024 review (which I posted under the wrong location at the time) apply to this one. PS: the room I was seated at this time had a magnificent 20' tall waterfall. 2024 Review: I have never been on a cruise ship or two a resort hotel, but I imagine the experience I had here would be comparable. Finding this place, which is located in a commercial or industrial warehousing district, would be challenging without GPS. Upon pulling up we thought it might have been an old hotel at one point. The entrance is grand, though, and nicely decorated. When we walked in we were met at a greeter station and introduced to a guy who was our "guide" around the buffet. He pointed out the various stations and featured entrees as well as his favorites (I suspect they are told what to say), and then led to the "blue room". Named because it is entirely blue in an almost Disney-esque way, it had one wall composed entirely of a fish tank! We took turns getting our food and watching our toddler, and there were lots of options here. Of note, nothing was especially great but nothing was terrible either. Many of the American-Chinese dishes were missing, but in their place were more things geared for kids. They had a full dessert station with lots of pies and cakes and cookies. They didn't have a lot of seafood but that was fine with me. They had sushi and a prime ribbing carving area. They had a koi pond and a panda display and a gift shop (!). In all, it was like walking through a movie based on a Chinese buffet. This is the flagship restaurant of the Mandarin chain and not all are like this. They told us about their signature "sweet and sour chicken meatballs", which are like sweet and sour chicken except each piece is the size of a golf ball. I remembered these were common in Toronto and not in the USA and now I know why. I don't think the food was better than average, but the experience was mindblowing. No doubt it is built into the price, but what a fun experience it was to come here. I would love to come back for a special occasion. read more

My husband loves Chinese AYCE buffet! Sadly, there are none on O'ahu. He fell in love with this location the first time we visited on our honeymoon in 2007 with my dearest uncle and two of my close cousins. We drove from OH, through MI and made it prime time for lunch. Ambiance is spacious. Rooms divided into quadrants. Mint colored walls, red chairs, white table cloths, glassware served. This restaurant serves two and a half stations of Chinese cuisine. Some of my faves were won ton soup, hot and sour soup, General Tso chicken, fried shrimp. For selective eaters, there's a station with chefs offering homemade sushi, fresh sashimi. We're quite surprised that both items were delicious. There's also another station of pizza available. There's an array of salads, fruits, and desserts. I can't turn down scoop yourself ice cream! There were eight flavors in all. I enjoyed every spoonful of mango ice cream and birthday cake ice cream. I also enjoyed crème brûlée, macarons, mini malasadas, and honey twists. My husband loved their banana fudge ice cream. Excellent customer service from our Server who welcomed us, offered beverage refills, and provided clear communication. We didn't feel rushed at all. Well versed in Chinese and English. When we're leaving, there are three employees in the lobby - one offering mint hard candies and the other two whipping up homemade cotton candy in a jiffy as a way of saying, "Thank you for visiting!" I accepted the mint hard candy and kindly declined cotton candy as we left very satisfied and full. He fantasized about returning to this location. We made it! read more

I've been to Mandarin several time over the years and this location is always my favourite to visit. The staff are so polite and welcoming. The ambiance is really nice as well, and they have a huge fish tank in one of the rooms. The pricing is pretty decent for the amount of selection and variety of food you can eat. You can easily find the breakdown of the different pricing and locations on their website. Throughout the year, Mandarin also celebrates different holidays and festivals and offer limited time dishes during those times. Even if you go during lunch, you have ample of selection to eat. They even have a wide selection of desserts to choose from. I would recommend to make a reservation because it get's busy pretty fast. I really enjoyed the ambiance, especially if you aren't too fond of extremely bright lights after a smoke break but don't want to run your cabinets dry trying to cure your hunger, ykwim? The service was great. When I went for another plate, id come back to find my other plates gone. So things weren't crowded all over the table. Now the only complaint I had was that the martini tasting like straight salt, but I drank it anyways because I was too busy eating, honestly. read more

It's a large and spacious all-you-can-eat buffet and they have a 2-hour seating policy. They accept reservations, but they also operate on first come first serve. I recommend making a reservation, specially on weekends and holidays, as the lineup can take hours. They have a great selection of vegetarian options, beef, chicken, pork, salmon, shrimp, salads, pasta, sushi, ribs, appetizers and dessert. The table service is fast and efficient. Went today after a long break. Food was ok. The meats I found were overcooked and dry for the most part. The salads and veggies were good. Place packed as always and service was decent. Last week we decided to treat a family member to the Mandarin for her birthday. I found the restaurant to be way too crowded. Everyone was sitting back to back, you could hardly move. It seems as though they put random tables out to maximize the space. Every time the table next to me passed by, I felt my chair was being kicked. The food is exactly what you would expect from a buffet. It was good but nothing too special. It is a good place to go once in a while but I likely won't be back on a busy weekend like that again. read more

The rooms are large with high ceilings so it's a touch loud at times but overall you can still have a conversation without yelling. Every room has a theme. Has been 4-5 years since my wife and I had last been to a Mandarin. We decided because we were in the area to head back to the big Mandarin in Brampton at 410 & Steeles. No restaurant is more welcoming than a Mandarin. And a nice feature is that the host takes you for a short tour of the buffet and points out the special additions. It being Moon Festival there were a number of special dishes on offer just during this time. Our waiter was David and he was excelllent and very polite and attentive throughout the whole visit. Mandarin is always loud and people are celebrating birthdays and dishes are crashing. But everyone looks to be having fun! Memories of past vists to Mandarin always left me feeling the food was disappointing. Not so on this visit, maybe it was because it was a Friday night but all the dishes were hot, and better than I remembered. Mind you we have been disappointed with many Chinese deliveries lately. I left feeling it was actually pretty good value for the meal we had. Of course all prices have gone up, Mandarin has kept the prices pretty reasonable for a sit down restaurant. All you can eat for Adults is $40.99 for Fri-Sat-Sun. Kids under 4 are free and kids are $20.49. A few $ less the rest of the week. read more

Fun buffet spot in Mississauga. Came in with coworkers on a work trip, busy on a Wednesday night but large venue so was quickly seated in the aquarium room (they also have a bird room and bamboo room). Definitely a great family spot, lots a seating area and various food options. Mainly Asian fusion but also had things like pizza, especially in the kids buffet spot. Food was always hot and regularly filled whenever trays got empty, so that was nice. Overall food is good but nothing special, really just loved the ambiance and company we came with, had lots of laughs and enjoyed the space with everyone! Really cool how the aquarium room has large aquarium tanks around the walls to enjoy, and the bird room has a huge bird enclosure with parrots (I think). Insanely massive buffet of Chinese American food of every variety, including all your favorites. Very attentive service with fast water refills. The prime rib and steak tips were great, as was literally everything I tried. Very hot and fresh. Stir fried broccoli with garlic, pepper steak, spicy green beans, kung pao, lemon chicken, general tso, sushi, dumplings, great salad bar and desserts. Cost was $47 CAD. Really well done and a lot of fun too. All considered, for a Chinese buffet it's an 11 out of 10. read more

We made the reservations at the 238 Biscayne Crescent location a week in advance and we expected the place to be busy for Valentine's Day. What we did not expect was the mayhem that greeted us once we passed the revolving door. It took my wife and I 10 minutes of wriggling, jostling, and elbowing to make the 10 steps to the front desk and speak with the hosting staff. We were told that we would be called (no mention of how soon) and once we extricated ourselves from the human vortex pressing upon us, we had to wait another 30 minutes before we were seated. As we waited, we witnessed the pandemonium around us: an elderly couple being squeezed out left and right as they tried to maneuver the crowd, a young couple nearly in tears lamenting the fact that an hour has past since their reservation time, a young mother with a baby in a stroller trying find the exit nearly stampeded by the famished crowd around her. That the place was completely out of control is an understatement. Boxing Day at Walmart seemed like a meditation retreat compared to what we were witnessing. This wasn't a mere inconvenience: this was in insult to all the patrons hoping for a romantic repast with an added bonus of a possible health and fire hazard. I asked to speak with the manager and voiced my concerns. She just stood there, nodding, looking askance at me as though the metamorphosis of a family restaurant into a veritable trough was a Standard Operation Procedure I was too daft to grasp. Perhaps - this being their first year in business? - Mandarin management did not expect all these hungry hippos storming their premises all at once. Perhaps they overbooked. Perhaps they faced staff shortages. Whatever it was, none of it was remedied, addressed, or even explained. In other words: "You don't like it go elsewhere and good luck!" When we were finally led to our table, unbeknownst to us, the hunger games just got started. Long lines, empty trays (it would have been easier to ice fish a salmon then to find it at Mandarin that evening), and poor service turned what was supposed to be a magical night out into a dystopic rat race. Admittedly, the quality of the food was still decent. What was indecent was its paucity and the access to it (twice I had to cut in front of another hunger games contestant to pilfer a few broccoli florets!) Let me make it clear: I have no beef with Mandarin (neither does Mandarin it seems). In fact, I've been patronizing it since my early 20's (I am in my 50's now), but like a nasty spat or a breakup with a longtime best friend or a girlfriend this one really hurt. So, my advice to you for your next Valentine's Day is: go elsewhere; cook your own food, grow your own food, do some intermittent fasting (it is what we all these people were forced to do while waiting to be seated anyways!), but whatever you do, do not patronize a food joint that lacks food as much as it lacks leadership, planning, manners and decency. read more

This is one of the largest mandarin locations. The food is good but we went on a weeknight for dinner so it wasnt too busy hence the food wasnt too fresh. We tried the Mandarin wine which is a wine the have made. It's a red Cabarnet. The wine was good and the food was plenty of options. They had roast lamb and roast beef which was good. The service was awesome. The servers were very attentive and quick with our drink orders. The Creme brulee dessert is my fav! read more

Since I've been 3 years ago.. wow! What a change. The food options were all delicious. The sushi was incredible. Soft serve ice cream now as well as a cotton candy machine?! How fun is that? Hmmmmm! How to review Mandarin. Well it's not the Mandarin of old with no crab legs or other up scale offering to substitute yet the price point doesn't seem to have gone down any. On the evening we went there were many offerings that were cold and some (chicken wings) way over cooked and dry. Other than sushi now being offered, I haven't seen any variety the buffet in years. Felt uncomfortably close. Food quality, portioning and freshness is good but repetitive in varieties, flavor and imagination. Last visit was 5 years ago. Buffet food options reflect cut backs. Such a let down. Try doing a noodle soup station. The food stations need revamping and layout. Gone are the crab legs and lobster. Time for an upgrade in plush furniture. Bring the wow back. Both men's and women's washrooms reflect little care. Restaurant was packed so full time attendant needed. Great friendly staff. They bus tables fast and fill up water quickly. As we entered, we saw beautiful decor, pink shades made into a letter M. We noticed that the color of the seats all around had changed to green. The staff was very polite and overly courteous, the Manager was going around on each table to say hi and giving his visiting card. The food was as usual good, I enjoyed the steak, bbq pineapple, everything is good and tasty. The dessert selection is big too, caramel is soo good. When I go to Mandarin, I forget about the salad, there is so much of other food to eat. read more

This mandarin was fantastic, the service, and atmosphere was really cool. Since we went during the Lunar New Year event the decorations were flawless and the special dishes of the different dumplings were amazing. They had much more variety than other mandarins I've been to. The desserts were also amazing they had crème brûlée which tasted amazing. Despite it being very busy the service was amazing and they were able to keep the buffet stocked at all times. Our server Emily was fantastic she was so quick, attentive and very friendly. We have been to 4 Mandarin's till now.... This is the best Mandarin we've been in GTA!! The overall look is very impressive, nice place to give treats to friends or family. The staffs are very courteous and polite, with great service. The food selection is great... almost everyone will find a good range of appetizing foods suitable to their taste buds. The place is quite big (actually huge)... but very busy and almost full most of times. I have been there few times, and looking forward to go there many more times again :-D read more

Wow, what has happened here. I ordered $43.00 worth of food. The lemon chicken was ok good even but the rice was undercooked and the beef with mushrooms tough. Spring rolls ok. If I have to go to the Mandarin, I'll always try to come to this location. This place is huge and this is where the corporate headquarters is located too. This franchise has been around for a long time and it was one of the first buffet restaurant that I remember going to. Although it started out as a Chinese food buffet, it seems like they have evolved to include different dishes now. The layout of the food display is consistent to all of their restaurants. You have areas of hot Chinese food dishes along with soups, salads, meats and western food (pizza, roast beef and fries) along with sushi and desserts. Overall, the food is good. You won't go hungry in this place and somebody will find something to eat. We came on Christmas Eve for lunch with my in laws here right when it opened at 11:30am. It was convenient to come here and not worry who can or cannot eat something. We were seated in the Bird room and service was very attentive. There were no special dishes being served at the lunch service. Recommended. read more

This is by far the most impressive Chinese Buffet that I've ever seen. It had multiple selections & seeing is how today is Chinese New Year the service was over the top excellent! There were hot towels to wash your hands/face with both before AND after the meal. There were lots of polite young people that were overly enthusiastic but were ready to serve. The buffet itself's food quality was not particularly high (lots of fried stuff-which I cannot resist) but one cannot deny the freshness of the food itself. It all seemed well prepared & presented. The main service area had 4-6 food stations + 2 separate dessert station & an ice cream station. All in all a solid dining experience that I will do again. read more

This was a completely random find that we'd never forget. I was with my best friend who was feeling pretty damn low at the end of our vacation. We were staying at a hotel nearby & I decided the best thing to cheer him up was with a local buffet. Cue in Mandarin. This place was not only beautiful with their indoor waterfall, floral displays, & themed rooms but almost everything we ate was both delicious & fresh. We went several times for food to only be disappointed that we couldn't eat more! That wasn't the best part Our server, cutest brunette ever, is truly what made our meal one to remember. She was super nice & attentive. Friendly & funny as if we were already friends. And came to sing my best friend happy birthday (it was not his birthday), give us a free cake, & take our commemorative photo (before taking an awesome photo with us!) which cheered him right up before we ran off for our flight. I really wish I remembered her name & most likely doesn't even work there anymore but I've never had service make such a difference to an already nice establishment. Thank you so much! read more

I know it's busy but went to order and one location is CLOSED and the other one in Brampton will only honour orders that were place WELL IN ADVANCE ! If I had know that I would've have done the same! By far the best buffet I have been to. Definitely worth the wait. Not been to a lot of buffets because I don't fancy them but the variety at this restaurant is unbelievable. The food is tasty and very yummy. Great for large Parties and family events. Food wise it's always fresh lots to choose from especially on weekends, but you'll pay for that which includes seafood.. Excellent food, excellent staff and love the fact that they have prime rib and grilled steak and always have seasonal items such as turkey for Thanksgiving etc! The "Torpedo Shrimp" are my favourite along with almost everything else. Really miss the crab legs though - they were a major draw. If you're looking for a buffet experience, you HAVE to visit this Mandarin location. There's a large selection to choose from and you can definitely over-eat. Come during the moon festival and you can get Peking duck (actually I'm not sure if this is the only time the have it available - I've only been here in October). The staff (holy crap are they nice) and the ambiance (there's an aquarium!) is what sets this location apart from others. At the time of this review, this has 4.5/5 stars on tripadvisor and rated #3 restaurant in Brampton. On our most recent visit, we got here around 6 om a Friday the food was almost at peak freshness. Come with an appetite and an empty stomach and you won't be disappointed. Here's a tip: make sure you keep your plates small so your food doesn't get cold while you work your way through. What's up, Canada? Do you Yelp*? I can't believe only 15 reviews total. Short review for me here because there was nothing at all bad about my visit. I was greeted personally and promptly and exchanged names with the greeter who also gave me a brief tour (rather large place). The same for my server. I felt welcomed, valued, and respected. The food selection was very beautifully presented and varied. Far better than any similar buffets I've seen in my area. I enjoyed everything I chose to eat. The price was very reasonable for the selection and quality. If I ever get back to Brampton, I'll be at Mandarin for dinner, for sure! read more

Ive been going to mandarin since I can remember, although I've heard many a horrible story about food poisoning, I personally have never really had one. This particular mandarin I have been visiting since I was a child and I will say it hasn't changed much in all the years I've been visiting. I believe this is their flagship location, and head office as well... They also have a private event area as well as decorations from roof to ceiling with a ton of decorative Christmas lights. This is the location with a large water feature and several large aquariums situated in large rooms. A huge private parking lot makes parking pretty easy but finding the place can be a tad tricky. It's clearly visible from the highway but to find the place you need to take the odd side street. Once you find the place you will see the service is like most mandarins you encounter, the facade of customer service I find a tad annoying... Once I am inside the restaurant and have been greeted I find it a tad awkward to interact with every single staff member on my way to my table. Once you get past that you'll notice the tables are fairly spacious but like most restaurants jammed together to add more seating. Now this particular visit was for a bday party for my bestie and although it had all been meticulously planned and organized the staff found the entire concept slightly confusing, giving away the surprise to any guest including the bday girl in the end. Service is the usual as I've said however it may be due to the large location but I found the maintenance of tables a little slacking however staff seems polite and eager to help. The food is again nothing exceptional, I find that once you've frequented mandarin you not only know what to expect but nothing exceeds those expectations. They have the usual spread of food available and although the rest of my table seemed to love the crab legs I wasn't thrilled; the cold crab had a murky, watery taste while the hot crab was prob overcooked making it pretty hard to get out of the shell, especially in one piece. The drinks are where they really hit your pocket though, a simple watered down mixed drink is over $7 here and the little table adds they have to advertise the drinks doesn't specify price either which is a tactic I'm not fond of. They also close fairly early (9pm) considering they only really start accepting at 6pm so because the bday girl was a few minutes late the event was actually quite rushed as her cake was dumped at the table with bills mere minutes after she had her first plate on the table. Which leads me to my last point and among the most vital ones... maybe it's the head office location but I could have sworn the price was around $26-$30 a person however when my boyfriend and I received our bill it was well over $80 and all we had was the buffet, one mixed drink and an orange juice. I used to be a reg at a few other locations and I don't ever remember it being that expensive, at that rate you can go to a decent restaurant and eat well. Personally I would rather go to red lobster for delicious crab and lobster for a similar price if not even less. In closing I feel like mandarin needs to step up a bit if they intend on charging that amount and considering how dated they are I think it's about time read more

I have to say that the chinese buffets in states do not compare to our neighbors up in canada, at least the ones that I have been to. The decor inside and outside is very nice. They take pride in their decor and also in how they present the food. Very neat and clean. There are different rooms to be seated in, one with an aquarium and another with birds. We were seated in the bird room and it was cute to see the birds playing with one another. Before and after your meal, they give you hot towels to wipe your hands which i thought was a nice touch! The food is your typical chinese food, american/asian offerings and plenty of dessert. The staff is attentive and polite as well. Be sure to sign up with their website because you can get a free coupon for your birthday. They also take a picture of you with a canadian cowboy hat if you are celebrating, the picture is put on a magnet holder for you to keep at no charge. Very cute! Good prices and if you come senior citizens, its 20% for them! read more
