I recently bought a Stearns and Foster mattress from Mancini's. We worked with David Holloway. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. He gave us space when we needed it to just lay on the beds and answered all our questions when we had them. We spent 3 hours at the store! I would never buy a bed without laying on it and Mancini's had many different manufacturers and types of mattresses to try. We slowly narrowed down our choices laying on the beds multiple times, trying different sleeping positions, having the other turn over and shift positions,... Great place to buy a bed. read more

Purchased my new Airloom Mattress after sleeping on my Chatum & Wells for over 18 years which I bought at Mancini's Sleepworld in Pinole CA. Honestly, fabulous! David was wonderful and made me feel better about my previous experience at Mattress Firm from early last Saturday (see review at Emeryville location). We walked in and were greeted by a HUGE selection of mattress selections and a friendly hello from who we came to know as David. Super relaxed guy who is informative and I love his sales approach style. He's just himself, provides an honest opinion and doesn't pressure. We were looking for something around 1.5k and we were in there for a WHILE. He even encouraged us to try a Kluft mattress (a far cry from our price range) but he showed us the differences in a mattress. He wasn't breathing down our backs and gave us time to discuss when need be. After all that time, we wanted to check out one more store on Sunday before finalizing our purchase. He gave us a business card and again, no pressure. Sunday comes and we were at a furniture store for a bed frame. My partner tried a Tempur-Pedic mattress and fell in love. We could have purchased the mattress right then and there but I felt a loyalty to David and we immediately made our way back to the store. David greeted us once again and explained the mattress that she was looking for...viola! However, we decided to get the ultra-plush Tempur and this was a BIG. BIG purchase. More than 2x's what we were planning to spend above. Again, service is to me is important. Bonus: We picked a bed frame and I decided to call David to see how it would be with what we decided and if it would effect our warranty. He said once our order comes, he'll assist us to get what we need to protect the mattress from the base and to send pics. I went into the store thinking I wanted a specific thing, and I was wrong. The manager, Suni was incredibly knowledgeable, and helpful quickly directing me to mattresses that fit my description amongst the vast supply they had in store. When I seemed unsure she helped direct me to ones that were more suited to my actual needs. She was very knowledgeable and patient with my indecision as I tested many back and forth. I had an amazing experience purchasing a mattress firm Mancinis Sleepworld on Ashby in Berkeley, CA. I have chronic back pain and had purchased a Saatva mattress from the Saatva company directly online. The quality of the mattress was terrible and I returned it within a week of it being delivered. I saw an add for a sale at Mancinis and decided to give it a try as I was desperate and had been sleeping on my sofa. Sorosh Ahmadi, a Sales Associate at Mancinis, was so kind and Knowledgeable about back pain and what mattresses are best. I was really impressed with his experience in working with customers who have back pain. He took his time to show me different mattresses and let me lay on them as long as I needed. I ended up purchasing a Tempur-pedic that same day and it was delivered the next day! I have been sleeping better then I have in years. I highly recommend this location. My wife and I went in about 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday night. Despite the time, Jonathan was super helpful and patient as we tried a bunch of different mattresses. He walked us through the differences between many we tried and struck a perfect balance between engaging us and giving us space to discuss and do our own thing. Jerry is an excellent salesman. He appreciated that my wife and I wanted to be left in peace to try out (many) mattresses without the distraction of having to keep a running dialogue with a salesperson and he respected us and our needs. But he also was available when we had questions and he was straightforward and helpful when we did. Ultimately we settled on a Serta icomfort and I suggested a price that we were interested to pay. Without drama he worked with his colleagues, came back a couple of minutes later and said we had a deal, and a few minutes after that we had completed our purchase. We promised ourselves that we wouldn't move the old mattress to the new place. When we walked into Mancini's in Berkeley, Jonathan greeted us with a warm welcome and started by asking us questions that would ultimately help him to only show us mattresses that fit our needs. He was a skilled and polite salesman, that knew how to balance informing us about the current models, and allowing us privacy to relax and lay on the various mattresses while discussing our likes/dislikes. After a thorough tour of the VAST selection, we'd narrowed it down to just two that we liked.(if you've been mattress shopping at big stores before, then you know there are so many models and firmnesses that your head starts to spin.) We sat down for a couple of minutes discussing what we liked about the two models, and Jonathan was able to give us a price we loved on our favorite mattress of the two. We ordered a bed frame with storage and a mattress. Sales person/store manager Jonathan D. told us we don't need a box spring for this model. We order it. Next day, it is delivered and the guy tells me we need a box spring, and the frame he put together is the wrong one. I call Mancini and they tell me to refuse delivery, but delivery guy is pressuring me to keep it and they will send a replacement frame. We have grandparents coming today, and now I'm wasting my day waiting for a replacement frame with the drawers. Not a fun experience and not happy at all with the hassle. I would avoid and not recommend. Follow-up: they want us to sign that we received the products, and I refused because it is not the correct products. Delivery guy really putting pressure on me to sign and keep the product, and I'm feel super uncomfortable in my own home. I told them to take everything away and that I'm not signing. This is stress that I did not need today. Very disappointed by all that unfolded. read more

After a trying experience at another mattress store, we were relieved to make this our next and final stop before buying a mattress. David was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, prepared for every question we might ask, and good at explaining our choices clearly. It was a night and day experience from the other store. The prices seemed competitive, and we were pleasantly surprised that delivery is free, since the pain of delivery was one of the main reasons we considered getting a bed in a box, which in retrospect would have been a mistake. I wanted to post a review here as my wife and I had a very positive experience with Khristina in our mattress shopping craziness. Before Mancini's we had tried the "online mattress" that is all the rage right now, and realized that even though we bought the online deluxe mattress that comes in a box, it was much less comfortable for us than our old mattress we were replacing. (Despite all of the retailer's 5 star reviews online.) So we decided to try Mancini's and, after testing out a variety of mattresses, we picked out a mattress we felt would be right. After sleeping on the mattress for a couple of months, we felt that we needed our mattress to be firmer. I cannot say enough about Khristina and Mancini's as they exchanged it for the firmer model... no questions asked... And we are sleeping so well now. I know that the convenience of ordering a mattress online is appealing, but after all of our research comparing the online brands, we found that trying out a mattress before purchasing is definitely a must for us. read more

We bought a mattress through Mancini's, and it was terribly uncomfortable. We contacted them within the warranty period, and they said that they would honor the warranty, but because the COVID shutdown had just started, there would be a delay. They stated in writing that they would let us know when they could make the return. They never reached out to us again. When I contacted them to follow up, they claimed that too much time had gone by, and they refused to honor the return. I've contacted their customer service twice with no response. These folks are using COVID as an excuse - I'd recommend avoiding them at all costs. read more

Was greeted by david, and i have to say a honest sales person is very hard to find nowadays. Wonderful costumer service! We still LOVE our mattress 1 year later. Our sofa bed broke, weird, screws just came loose, and the whole thing dropped. No problem! I had to email a video to show the "issue" and the manufacture gave us full warranty to replace the couch. Saeng Fio Chao, the salesman, was willing to open and close, open and close, open and .... :) for me to be able to decide what was the best replacement for the same price. He was so patient and fun to deal with. I had a hard time deciding and he made me feel as if he had the whole day :) He was great! The new sofa bed will be delivered on Wed. I can handle this type of shopping.... Especially after a late night of drinking! Lay on a bed, rest for 15 or so minutes... Then jump on the next one and repeat the process... Then the next one... I had narrowed it down to three and it felt very familiar. Ahhh.... I felt like Goldilocks checking out temperpedic mattresses. One was too hard, the other too soft, and i had to find that perfect one in the middle. And I did! The salesman was really nice and informative. Not too pushy. If I'm spending a couple thousand on a bed, I would rather buy from this guy and so I did. Yes, that's how I shop. I see something I like, I get it. As you can tell from my past reviews, I have impeccably high standards and expectations for service and experience. I am happy to say that the amazing experience I had with Jonathan at Mancini's Sleepworld exceeded (above and beyond) all expectations I had. I went in stressed about finding the right mattress and I left with a mattress I knew would help me get that great night of sleep that I haven't had before. A bit about me - I have extreme lower back pain, made no easier by the mattress purchased at another store that was a completely wrong fit for me. Jonathan educated me on what to look for when testing out different mattresses and was able to help me articulate and understand exactly what I should be looking for, the reason certain mattresses cause me pain and in the end help me find a mattress that I LOVE. For the first time in what feels like forever, I'm able to sleep through the night and wake up refreshed -- without pain! Did I mention this was ALL WITHIN MY BUDGET? I'm only 2.5 years out of school, and Jonathan worked with me to find a mattress that was in my budget without compromising comfort and quality. Did I mention that delivery went off without a hitch and they even recycled our current mattress for us? So much winning - without inflated costs, too much time and without an ounce of stress or buyers remorse. I cannot recommend Mancini's Sleepworld and Jonathan enough. Went inside this store today on a whim as we are in the market for a new mattress. The sales guy was nice enough, but the store was surprisingly dirty. The front of the shop was medium cleanliness, but I was dumb founded at what I saw in the back half of the store. It is like the ceiling is rotting or something... there was black dirty and large pieces of matter littering half the beds in the show room... And we are supposed to lay down on these things to buy one? Gross. We ended up going to Mattress Discounters and had a much better, and CLEANER experience. Bought a Serta. read more

One human's heavenly bed is another's Hell. Coil counts, five different kinds of foam, none of it means a thing if your body isn't happy. And, how will it wear over time? So you got to get smart about shopping. First, figure out what you want. Go to Macy's in SF to a huge selection of mattresses. Pay attention to brand, class or series, and coil count and covering quality. My wife and I had flirted with European Sleepworks, but just couldn't meet their price tag, so we went to Macy's. They were having a 50% off sale, which they seem to have every 3 days. We gravitated to Simmons BeautyRest. The mattress had excellent resistance to motion transfer, and comes in all the usual comfort ranges from firm to pillow top. We liked the plush. Here's the next thing you need to know: mattresses are priced three to four times their wholesale cost. So when Macy's has a half price sale, there is still a long way to go. Now that said, Mancini's is the place to buy your mattress, once you know what you want. Mancini's has a excellent return/upgrade policy (they call it a comfort guarantee) and do free delivery, haul away your old mattress. And they claim they'll handle any warranty issues that may come up. Back to our shopping experience: A nice young guy named Josh took good care of us. Not too high pressure, willing to tell us as much or as little as we wanted to know. (By that time we had slept around, and heard and read a lot.) My wife liked the top of the Series line with double coil count. It showed a sticker price of $3963. Even at Macy's half off, it was a $1997 deal. After an hour of flopping around various mattresses, we were finally ready to buy, and we had been chatting with two other customers in the Beauty rest section. So we got together and asked Josh, "how much would this bed be if we bought three of them?" Now Mancini's will routinely beat any competitor's price by $10. So I figured $1800 was where they would go. Josh told us that indeed, $1800 would be a very excellent price, but he would go back to his computer and see what he could do. He came back with $1500 including tax and delivery out the door. This was more than I wanted to spend, but 30 per cent better than Macy's sales price, and I figured the extra $450 was worth it to convince my wife that I am not the complete cheapskate she knows I am. So I went for it. It was a good deal about 66% off! So my advice is: know what you want. Know what others are charging for similar products. Then ask Josh to give you a price that will blow the other guys out of the water. Chances are he will. I'll let you know how the delivery goes. read more

I wish that I could give this store 0 stars. Their customer service sucks. Their sales reps are deceitful. Just know that if you put something on layaway they'll treat you like you're poor and assume that you're going to pay it off in $50 increments. What they didn't know was that my (now) husband and I were already spending money on our wedding and didn't want to spread our money too thin before we had everything finalized. Needless to say we paid it off within 4 payments 2 of which were made in the same month. The day that I made the last $430 payment the man who sold us the bed swiped my card before telling me that they didn't actually have my bed there and since it was discontinued they weren't sure if we were going to be able to get the same bed. I asked him why it hadn't been ordered already and his response was "I didn't think you were going to pay it off this fast!" Unbelievable!!! Then he got to stuttering and trying to explain the BS. Fast forward to now. Which is exactly a month from our final payment and we just received the mattress. It came without the box spring that we ordered! So instead they send us ventilated. read more

Okay, a mattress store is a mattress store, right? And when you're in the market for a bed, you'll probably do what I do and go to a handful of stores and you'll lay on beds all afternoon and learn that you're a "firm" person or maybe a "plush" person or whathaveyou. My advice is this: go to a couple stores and ask the salespeople to give you their best offer (which I learned is always considerably lower than the price on the tag). Then you take that price to the other store, and the other store offers to beat it by 10%. Then you call the first place back and tell them so, and they offer another 5% off. Eventually, everybody's willing to sell you the same mattress for the same low price, so then it comes down to who you want to get the commission. I want Josh at Mancini's Sleepworld to get it. He's awesome. He was super helpful and super easygoing, and in the course of my purchase, I learned that he's studying Constitutional Law at Berkeley, but sells mattresses (and has been for like 7 years) in the meantime. He'll give you a sweet deal, offer to have it delivered the very next day, and you can rest easy knowing your money is going to a genuinely nice, aspiring to greatness, smart dude. read more

Ok, so I will give this review in two stages. First, I just moved into a 2BR and wanted something daybed-ish in my office area (second bedroom).. I saw exactly what I wanted. The guy knocked $50 off the price when he tried to demonstrate how the unit can be adjusted from couch to mattress to chaise loung (I'll take pics tomorrow). Free Delivery and I was in and out of there in 20 minutes with deliver for tomorrow. So, I'll comment on the delivery part later, but the sales guy was nice. I'm usually wildly inconsistent in the level of attention I want from customer service/sales. I usually just want to check stuff out, not be pressured, and then make the buy decision. Other times, I am seeking out the people right from the get go. This sales guy was nice in that I was really just looking around and he didn't follow 20 feet behind me. Update: Deliver guy came at 1:30 (scheduled 12:30 to 2:30) and other than hitting the box against the wall (leaving a dirt smudge), they were good. Couch is decent, although I know that I have to get a couple of screws for one of the legs sooner rather than later (stripped them tightening the screws). read more

My last encounter at a competitor four or five years prior left me quite pissed and not looking forward to this ordeal. Our salesman: Kwasi was just unbelievable. My girlfriend and I still talk about him regularly. Professional, courteous, SO knowledgable. He knew when to lean in and give us more info.... answered all our questions (even the ones we didn't have yet) gave us multiple options and never pushed us out of our price range... never made me feel awkward that I'm not loaded and can't afford the mac-daddy top of the line mattress. Really, he was such the consummate professional, and just a solid nice guy. Yes, we did buy, and are SO happy with our purchase. Contrary to other reviews, he was negotiable with the price, and I didn't even ask. I'm not talking hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but just enough to let us know we were worth it. I'm so impressed, and this company is very very lucky. On our way home, we couldn't stop talking about how charismatic and kind Kwasi was. This guy could be doing anything he wants in life. We got lucky. About the bed: We got the Marcal II enviro friendly model with bamboo and aloe and some other hippy stuff in it to ease our worry about the environment and potential chinese prison labor... the bed is amazing. For belly sleepers with back problems like me: YES! For back sleepers like my girlfriend YES! And, it's only a little more than a grand. We haven't slept this well in years. read more

I called to order a new queen box spring today. I was quoted a price for a basic box spring with a 5 year warranty. When I asked about buying an extended warranty, the salesman Jonathan gave me a free upgrade to a higher quality box spring with a 10 year warranty, and scheduled same day delivery! The delivery men Lewis and Lorenzo also did a fine job removing the mattress for a minute, taking away the old box spring, laying down the new box spring, and then putting the mattress on top of it. They arrived within the scheduled time frame, were professional, and didn't bump into anything with the new or old box spring. read more
