(From April, 2022) YELP pulled up this brewery on my search for handcrafted beer. While skeptical of the location when I parked due to being right below a bridge, I was relieved upon entering, seeing the spacious seating, and being welcomed by the friendly staff, one of whom I assumed was the owner. Not sure of what to order, they suggested the beer flight. Of course! When you can't decide on one beer, get multiple ones! 4 beers in a flight, I went with a variety of flavors/styles with the IPA, blonde ale, java porter, and a chernobyl (forgot how to describe this one). I recall the porter and IPA as the ones that stood out the most. The chernobyl and blonde ale were the lighter ones. Sitting outside, I drank in solitude, thinking about how awesome the city is before my mind wandered about what makes beer so wonderful. Before you know it, all the beers in the flight had been drank. That was my cue to head out. The place serves their own cider and frozen drinks which looked appetizing. But I'm a traditionalist: breweries are for beer. And they do quite a job with that! read more

I'll start out if the positive: the service and crowd here are overwhelming kind, warm, and positive. When I visited it was open mic Jazz night, and it felt like a block party! The beer here though, is very, very old school. It wasn't technically deficient in any way, but I found all the beer to be pretty bland. If you're not into IPA's though, that might be a good thing. There was only one IPA on tap and it was lot like an amber ale with a very sweet caramel malt quality to it. I also felt like the prices were pretty high compared to other SATX breweries. If you don't like hops and like maltier beers and/or you're into Jazz, it's definitely worth a shot. read more

Gene Simmons of Kiss said of his father who was a salesman at the end of the day it is ultimately you who sells something. I wish businesses were more attuned to this. At the end of the day it is a place's owners and staff that makes us go back or keeps us away. I came to "Man Overboard Brewing Co." for a soft opening. It is nearby an underpass that opens up with more parking. When I arrived staff were already outside greeting you. Although this doesn't cost a business a penny it is priceless. The brewery is really, really small but big on charm. Inside there are picnic style benches for seating. There is finite seating for large and small groups. Once inside the owner greeted me and simply said, "Welcome, thank you for coming here!" As I have said before when a place is not bumping this is the most optimal time to make a connection to a patron. The tapmasters, who happened to be owners were absolutely friendly which transferred to all the their products. Basically you go to the counter and order. They serve beer, wine, seltzers and ciders. It is a very limited taplist right now but the owner assured me they are adding more items next week. Soft openings are meant as an opportunity for a business to see what needs to tweaked. Lucky for me the place was functioning like a well-oiled machine. My only critique from me is for them to consider adding outdoor seating. Other than that I like that it is small but intimate. My understanding is that they are former veterans who decided to open a brewery. I can sense those experiences have lead them to this moment. They offered a flight so I went with that. I had their blonde, their coffee porter, tangerine wit and ipa. They all had really good flavors. I will say the ipa seemed more boozier than its 6.5% abv. As I was leaving I definitely felt like a man in fact overboard. To me as I travel from both regional and local breweries it's not the beers that sell a place but rather the people. Product can and should develop over time but the staff is really who sells any business. Consistency in beers is one thing but consistency in service supersedes even that. At that capacity Man Overboard Brewing Co. will be here for awhile. The place and ambiance are charming. The beers are solid but the service is stellar. If you happen to be in this area check it out. ps. If your GPS is not working don't worry! Just look for the two dudes with the epic viking beards and you're good! read more

Came here on Friday after work with a buddy after seeing they had just opened the previous week. Went ahead and tried the flight, minus the coffee porter. I really liked the tangerine wheat and the IPA. Overall a great set of people running this place. Friendly and attentive! The interior is large with a few picnic tables for large groups and four person tables. There's plenty of parking under the bridge. I've heard there's a food truck during the busier times. There's also plans to expand in the future to have more outdoor seating as currently there's a few spots to sit outside. Come check it out, definitely wortha try! read more

My son recently moved to San Antonio, so we've been exploring downtown a little more. We stumbled upon Man Overboard and we're so happy we did! The environment is spacious and friendly, and the patio is dog-friendly (they have treats at the counter). They have a daily food truck serving up hot eats and their beer/wine selection is top notch. I ended up getting the Midway Magic pilsner, which was delicious! My son got the Battle Cat IPA and my daughter in law got Shall Not Perish IPA. All in all, we really enjoyed Man Overboard and will be coming back regularly! read more

Always up for checking out and supporting a new brewery, esp one with 3 generations of women. They were all friendly, but I had a special spot for "Grandma". A variety of beer and seltzers were offered but not overwhelming like some locations, so this simplified the process of narrowing down our choices. Each beer seemed to possess just enough of its type without being overpowering. For ex., althouth the IPA was suttle, it was still clearly an IPA. My partner, who is not a fan of IPAs, even appreciated it. We look forward to returning for an event with our son. read more

This is a great little brewery. If you're looking to get out of the chaos of the Pearl or downtown, head over here for good beer and friendly service in a chill spot. While the brewery doesn't offer food, they do have various food trucks scheduled outside. On my visit I did a flight and a couple glasses. Of all the beers I tried, Sailor's Warning, a citrus weisse, was my favorite. All the beers would good and they have a good variety. read more

This place was okay. We tried their hoppy beers but only really cared for the west coast IPA. The woman working was very sweet.

We were driving home and my boyfriend said, " wait stop! There's a brewery!" I thought he was delusional and lying lol but yes there is a brewery here now. Today is 12/15/21 & the guy behind the counter said that they have been open for about 2 weeks. They of course have beers but also make their own seltzer in house. I got the blood orange one and it has a very light taste to it. My boyfriend got the 1st beer on the menu list and says it did not disappoint. Both were very easy to drink. read more

Came here last month to celebrate a friends birthday. This place is great!!! I feel like it's a hidden gem and people are missing out!! They have great beer! It's is also family friendly!! They have snacks and drinks as well as some sodas for those who don't want to drink any alcohol. They have a bunch of table games and board games for everyone to enjoy. Parking is under the bridge near by. Staff is very friendly!! You definitely need to come check this place out!! They deserve a chance and you will be surprised!!
