There was a minor snafu with the timing/scheduled pickup, but I don't care because these guys were amazing. They made it right and then some. This was a "half-move" -- we were moving from our temporary residence back into our home after a renovation, so we only had about a 15' U-Haul worth of stuff. This was just about perfect for Man with a Van. But the best part was the employees (I wish I had asked their names, but moving day left me scatterbrained) -- they were efficient, attentive, really went the extra effort in getting our stuff safely into our house, quickly disassembling a few pieces that were now too large to fit into our new doors (I got them out, and never thought there'd be such trouble getting them back in). I'd say combine that great service with the competitive pricing, and this is the company for your move assist/small move/hauling project. Don't think for a second that Alfredo only having a couple of reviews here as an issue: we found Man and a Van on Thumbtack, where Alfredo already has dozens of great reviews. Alfredo is smart, resourceful, flexible, reliable, and he and his colleague tackled the work professionally and efficiently. The gentlemen both wearing their masks throughout the move was impressive. We just finished our first day of driving a 15 ft box-truck to Texas which Alfredo loaded and secured; nothing shifted across 200miles! I got the feeling that no matter what we might need done, Alfredo would have had a solution, or have called someone who could help. I talked with Alfredo and hired his services to help me move a bunch of furniture and packed boxes out of my Mom's house and into a UHaul. So I didn't use the "van" part of his business. Alfredo gave me the impression that he personally would be on the job, but 2 young workers showed up. They were ~18-20yo and were hard workers, Julian and Jose. They moved things downstairs, wrapped everything carefully with cling film and moving blankets (that I rented from UHaul), and loaded them into the truck carefully. As far as I can tell, nothing got dinged or damaged. They followed directions well and were very productive for the ~2 hours they helped me. I'm glad I called "Man with a Van." Just be aware that Alfredo may not be the person who shows up for the work. read more

I contacted Alfredo seeing all of these great reviews. We only had 4 pieces of large furniture moved locally. His quote was reasonable, so I scheduled the move. On the day we were awaiting his arrival, 45 minutes before he was supposed to arrive, he cancelled saying his co-worker was sick. Totally understand but disappointed. We had other things timed to go along with the move that now had to be cancelled. He said we could reschedule but now it has been two days and I haven't heard a word from him. I've texted and I called. He apparently is ghosting me now. I understand that stuff happens but be communicative with your client. Having been traumatized by a cross-country move from another company, I have issues trusting moving companies. When the opportunity presented itself to move from San Jose to Santa Barbara, I planned on getting a uhaul and moving everything with my husband. I reached out to Man and A Van through Yelp. With several great reviews, I communicated with the owner Alfredo. I agreed to initially hire him for moving support only- to move belongings from uhaul into new home. Discovering that uhaul in California is experiencing a shortage of moving trucks, I again reached out to Alfredo. What I loved about working with Alfredo: he is honest, he is fair, he is true to his word. He offered me several options to help my move after uhaul fell through. After considering those options, I asked him how much he'd charge to drive up to the bay to help. In the end, his price was 100% the BEST. If I'd rented a uhaul, aside from stress of finding an available truck and figuring out how to drive it, total moving costs would've been about $1300. This move was from an upstairs apartment to a ground level home. Several Bay Area companies offered San Jose to SB move for 3000 to 5000. Cheapest option was 2000. Alfredo charged 1600. That is an amazing deal. Alfredo gave me his word he would be in San Jose on moving day around 9-1030 am. No security deposit required- a verbal agreement. True to his word, he showed up. Although we packed our own boxes, he and his assistant secured and protected my antique furniture in blankets and plastic wrap. They did an exceptional job. He kept me apprised of his status as he approached SB and had extra assistance transporting items into our home. He is great. I will absolutely be using his services again soon. Payment: he prefers cash or Venmo but does accept credit card for additional fee. I highly recommend this company. read more

My wife was not the easiest person to schedule with because she kept changing the times cause of our daughter's dance schedule and my chiro appointment not to mention my wife was still working on the flooring of the gym in our house. She found great reviews on moving Fitness Equipment specifically which made her more comfortable with this company. They showed up on time, super nice guys. It was a heavy Nordic track. I definitely feel like it was a bigger job. The move was successful, it had to be moved through tight spaces and it was put upstairs up a 180 degree turned staircase and it weighed a ton. They asked us to check it out to make sure everything was cool and if we were satisfied.
