We always bought a dozen pork tamales when we went into Eugene. They were pretty good. Not too much masa. This last time I got a dozen and they were literally 1/2 masa. On one end it was 1 1/2 inches of just masa. We cut off all the masa and too our surprise there was a roll of it in the middle of the pork. On top of that, the pork was pretty bad. We threw away the whole dozen. Not the way to build up your profits folks. The people were real friendly. read more

This is my go to Mexican food place! I literally drive over 20 minutes from Springfield just to get food from here. I lived in San Diego a long while and although it wouldn't be fair to compare the food, this place gets the closest to that taste I've been searching for. read more

Very disappointed in our whole experience. We drove all the way from Thurston to w 11th to try these amazing tamales we read about hoping to order large amounts of tamales for a reunion coming up. The customer service was unfriendly and very slow. We ordered chicken and pork tamales, tostadas and chips and salsa. No husks on the tamales, the flavor and smell compared to throw up then made us actually throw up after we got down the few bites that we did. We have felt sick ever since we ate. Salsa was real runny. The chips were really good though. Serious waste of time and money. Will definitely not be ordering from them again especially not for a catered event. I love, love their food and service. There were four of us for lunch today, three got the tamales, and said they would absolutely come back for more, and I got a veggie burrito and it was delicious and huge. Haven't tried anything with tofu from there yet, but I will and hope it's just as good. The only good thing about this place is their tamales. When it comes to customer service and food presentation I would say it is extremely bogus. Sometimes it will take them up to 10 minutes to get me my two tamales even after calling them in 20 minutes before. They forgot to hand me my credit card one day and when I went back for it I didn't even get an apology or have a good day. I wasn't too offended but I just felt like it's good customer service to be apologetic when you forget to give someone their card back. The day I find a good tamale to buy here around town is the day I will no longer go to this place. read more

I had seen a bunch of reviews on Eugene Foodies Facebook page for a new place in Eugene called Mami's Mexican Grill, and I had some time to kill because my sons were at a school dance. They claim to have the best tamales in Eugene. It was about 7:30pm on Friday, and they were out of chicken tamales so I tried the pork, which I found to be tasty and full of good, moist flavorful meat. Of course, I usually go to these places for the nachos, being the nacho aficionado I am. I ordered the carne asada nachos. I don't recall the exact price but it was around $8. The nachos came with crispy house made chips, which were a little thicker than most, but I like that. The toppings consisted of carne asada, beans, Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and rice. Yes, rice! The rice was good, but I've always thought the chips themselves were enough of a carb overload. The portion was huge and well worth the money as I didn't eat the whole plate. The carne asada was tender and not too seasoned, but I wish there was a bit more of it on there. The guacamole was fresh made and outstanding. The people working there were very friendly and answered all of my questions. They have table service, but you bus your own table when you're done. All in all, I was pleased with my experience at Mami's, and would rate their nachos 4 stars out of 5. I'll definitely come back for the tamales, the pork was excellent! read more

This place has good authentic Mexican food. They have very affordable prices, and great quality food, unlike super taco. It is nice to have a new place in the neighborhood that is consistently good. The tamales are excellent, the only downside is, they do not make enough of them, so sometimes you go in for tamales and they are out. Everything on the menu is under $15. This place has only been open a few weeks and I have already been there several times. read more

Friendly place with good fresh food! I almost always get the taco salad, which is not as good as the one as Mucho Gusto, but it's better than any taco salad on the west side of town. They have tofu as a protein option, which is key for me. I also like their tamales. Their salsa verde is great. I'm not a fan of their regular house salsa - it has an olive-like taste that I don't enjoy. The comparison to Super Taco is inevitable, since they're so close. I think Super Taco has better flavor, but it's easier for me to eat healthfully at Mami's. read more

They have amazing food! I would say their food is better than most of the Mexican restaurants in eugene, except they are cheaper! Had the Mami burrito, quesadilla with steak, and the tamale. All were fantastic! The burrito is almost big enough for two people. Overall a great experience and very nice/helpful staff. FINALLY a fantastic, authentic Mexican food place here in Eugene! My parents are Mexican and Guatemalan, so I have very high standards of Hispanic food. Ever since I moved to Eugene, I've searched high and low to find authentic and delicious Hispanic food that could rival my parents. Mami's is it! Other places have been extremely disappointing. But Mami's tamales are fantastic! Remind me of my mom's! All of their other dishes I had are quite tasty as well. Clean restaurant, very friendly staff, and reasonably priced! Well we thought this might be a fast food place and we were right. The drinks from the fountain are watered down a lot. There was no sugar available for the wife's iced tea. I ordered 2 Tamales combo and said No hot peppers at all. Well there were some small pieces in one of the Tamales. The meat in the Tamales was kind of sparce to say the least. Maybe 90% corn meal. I received my order and about 5 minutes later, they brought my wife's meal. The meat in the Quesadilla on my wife's plate was burnt. Last but not the end, the beans were like mush... First I got home and they didn't put my whole order in. Called them and first thing they said I only ordered one plate. See they knew I had no paper receipt but my card Automatically gives me one. Then they go you want to come tomorrow? No we wanted it for tonight 45 mins later I am home again ruined our movie night. I made the mistake of not checking. I figured after they screwed up they wouldn't mess it up. Well when I got there to pick it up it wasn't ready I had to explain again. They never apologized either. It cost me gas to drive back accross town and back. I waited while they made it. I get home and the order was wrong and awful. I will never go there again. It was horrible. Not what I had ordered of course they were closed now and our movie night ruined since by the time I got home it was 915. They are pretty pricey too for mexican food! Absolutely delicious. We came from out of town and found Mami's on Yelp. We ordered the fish tacos and the Mami's Nachos. The nachos were large and definitely more than one meal. The chicken was excellent on the nachos. The fish tacos were delicious and could taste the fish in every bite. Excellent and we will be back. read more

I've gone back to try every possible variety of their Tacos, and now I'm working through their burritos. My first time experiencing this menu and thought I'd be pretty basic to get the "taste" of their food. I'm originally from AZ, so I def know good/excellent Mexican food. I ordered a ground beef taco and a pork tamale with beans and rice. The taco was served to me first, alone with cold meat mixture.....but, where is the flavor? Soon, I was served the rest of my meal and hoped that the food would redeem itself with "not rocket science" food...but to my dismay, bland, bland, bland!! I really piled on the taco sauce (red and green) and that helped a little. Honestly, my past experience has told me, when the cook is trying to play the trick of building the tamale with extra masa, they're trying to scrimp on the ingredients so all you're paying for is ground corn harena. Needless to say, it didn't matter how much masa was in there, the pork had no flavor. Goodness, the tamale weighed 5 lbs alone! The beans and rice lacked a good flavor and pretty near disguised itself as bland Irish food. Get a grip, if you want flavor, do yourself a favor, pay less and go to Taco Bell!! I was excited to try this place because a coworker recommended it and said the tamales were amazing. I found the tamales flavorless and overly spiced. Even I could make some better than that.. I had the Mami shredded beef burrito combo. The burrito was huge and delicious. I ordered the guacamole with the combo as the combo comes with chips. I was not a fan of the guac. It was too chunky, starting to brown, and just didn't taste that great... which was very disappointing as I love me so good guacamole! My husband had the steak fajita burrito. He said it was absolutely loaded with salt. Coming from a guy who loves salt on everything tells me that it was not good. At all. They have two different kinds of salsa in the cooler for you to use on your food, both were good. The restaurant is well cleaned. You have to order at the counter and bus your own tables. They have unique items on the menu and despite having a few things that we felt could have been better we will probably be back to try other items. read more

My family has had Mami's at least once a week since we discovered them. Awesome burritos-- get the Mami's Burrito, shredded beef, there's something special in their marinate. If I could give a zero star I would. I recently moved to this side of town and ate here, it's actually fairly good for the price. Unfortunately I've only been able to go back once as everytime I try to go they're closed. Not closed because it's after hours or a holiday but just randomly closed without rhyme or reason. I went over today and it was closed again, they had a sign saying they where closing at 5pm but it was locked up at 2:30pm so the note wasn't very helpful. I actually made a yelp account just to write this revie. I live near by so it's only irritating but if anyone was planning on driving a ways it's a waste of time, just go to super taco instead at least they're reliable. read more
