Mambo takes the stress out of moving and made me regret all those times I thought it was easier to do a move by myself. They were prompt and called to confirm the day prior to our move. The 3 guys who moved my entire house couldn't have been more friendly, more efficient, and really took care of the job. Mambo Movers were fantastic! They were so quick and careful and the job took a total of 4 hours, which made the price very reasonable. We had everything packed and ready to go when they arrived and they were extremely efficient. They not only worked quickly but also really thought about how to load the truck instead of just throwing everything in. At one point, one of the guys stood in front of the truck for a few minutes and contemplated the best way to arrange the furniture so that everything would fit well and be stable during the ride. During the unloading process, they put boxes and furniture exactly where it needed to be at our new location. I don't think they took one break the entire time. They were all about getting the job done the best way they can in the least amount of time and were worth every penny, not to mention they were so friendly and relaxed. Love love LOVE Mambo Movers! Is it true that all of these movers are actually musicians? This only makes me want to call them again for my next move because these are some cool guys. I've used Mambo twice. These movers are experienced and efficient! I have enough stuff to fill up 1 large Center City apartment and each move took less than 90 minutes--from the moment they arrived to their departure from my new home! I especially love that they are legit movers who come with insurance. They also know which items (Ikea) require extra care due to the numerous moves they've conducted. They sent 3 movers each time and it was $110 per hour with a 2 hour minimum. They're pretty well respected and it seems that the major apartment buildings have worked with them. read more

Mambo Movers is the best moving company in Philly! Their price is straightforward, no hidden fees at the end of the move. When i contact MM, I was instantly given a good price and a moving schedule for our move from a house in to a 3 bedroom apartment. Three men arrived on time with their biggest truck. They did an amazing job, swiftly and strategically moving all the furniture and plants onto the truck within the time frame. They carefully placed the furniture and plants in the apartment wherever we asked them. They would assemble our furniture too. They were professional, pleasant, and hard workers. Two stars seems a little low; but I have experienced better which is what Yelp would claim two stars should signify. Mambo came highly recommended to me from multiple sources, and I must say they accomplished the baseline job, were friendly, and took good care of my belongings. However, I was not pleased at all with my move, and regretted hiring them for a mixture of reasons. I was told at the start of the move that I would be billed the minimum of two hours, though my job would likely not take that long, as well as 10$ for gas money to go two miles, which seemed excessive, but I was fine with. I understand why there is a minimum and why they must charge gas money. The move ended up taking an hour and a half, and at the end, the only piece of furniture that I'd really hired them for, a large couch, allegedly could not fit through the doorway. The head guy said that they could force it in, but then they might not be able to get it up the next doorway, despite the fact that the next doorway was admittedly larger. He was apologetic but there wasn't much I could say to him in that moment, even though looking back on it, I absolutely should have made them try to get the couch in. The movers then convinced me that instead of taking the couch back to where it was from, which wouldn't have even gone over the two hour allotment, we should leave it on the curb. I knew this was wrong, but allowed it to occur anyway, and was then forced to pay 100$ for trash people to come get it so that I would not be fined. I paid around $300 + a generous tip for that move + the $100 trash fee for the couch that they could have brought back, and I am sorry to say that I regretted hiring them in the first place. It is specifically advertised on their site that people are very stressed when moving, which I absolutely think is true. I wasn't thinking rationally, and I think that the mambo guys took advantage of my stress on move day instead of being professional and doing what they knew to be the right thing. I've used other movers before and felt much better after the experience. Perhaps Mambo was the wrong team for my small job, but there are alternatives in the area, and I think the movers were a little bit lazy and took advantage so I will not be hiring them again or recommending them to friends. read more

I love Mambo! I've used then about 5 times and they are fantastic. Once it was even a complicated move with multiple locations and a lot of crap and they handled it expertly. I've never had any significant moving damage or issues. The "three strapping lads" were always friendly and worked their tails off. I can't believe how fast they can move things. Just stand back get out of the way and twiddle your thumbs for about and hour and a half and watch the magic. The charges were always fair and accurate. Don't forget the TIPS! I do suggest you get an AM appointment if you have a time sensitive move. They work until the job is done, and who knows how prepared the people before you are. read more

I chose Mambo Movers because of their website. I know, that's a horrible reason to select a moving company...but seriously, check out their website. It's hilarious, and makes you feel like you're supporting the local arts scene when you're really just getting boxes moved. The move itself (a local move, only six blocks) was just about as painless as possible...my team (Matt, Charlie and...Shawn, I think?) handled things quickly and professionally, showing up on time (morning time block) and getting everything packed in and shifted over to the new place in under 2 hours. Highly reasonable hourly rate, with the only downside being having to pay by cash, money order, or certified check. Not kidding about checking out their website. You won't regret it. read more

I took 2 weeks to write this review and finally I am ready to say how horrible this company truly is; they were the rudest, worst company I have ever entrusted with my belongings. I had Mambo Movers load a truck for a big move from Philadelphia to Austin, Texas. I did not have a corporate company moving me. I cannot go into all the details but is was the worst moving experience I have ever had. I hired them to pack the truck and they complained from the minute they got there about cars being on the street (I live on Pine Street what would you like me to do) to having to go into the basement down steps. To make a long story short DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The movers in Austin said it was the worst packed move they have ever seen! They blamed me for not packing properly and said it was "my fault". All of my furniture, paintings, "keepsakes" were nicked or ruined. I lost many pieces of furniture i have moved many times over the years. My favorite art pieces are DESTROYED. I wish I had packed them differently if I knew I was going to get such a reckless crew. Lesson learned but take some responsibility and pride in your work. BUYER BEWARE....FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO MOVE YOUR BELONGINGS. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE! read more

Mambo is AMAZING. I"ve never seen people carry so many heavy boxes on their back and run them to their truck as quickly as these guys. Seriously, what these guys can carry on their back is just sheer amazement. I basically stood in awe as this little hippy guy carried 3 heavy boxes of books on his back while carrying 2 diff bags draped around his neck. They moved all my furniture into my new house in under 2 hours! They made my moving process so easy. I basically pointed out what I wanted them to take, then at my new home pointed out where they should place things. They even arranged my bedroom furniture in a spot that I hadn't thought of, and it actually looks way better than I had envisioned. They were also extremely careful with all my items. I had a large 70lb mirror that they took off my wall at my old place and carefully moved into my new place. There was not a single item damaged. I changed my move in date 3x due to my delayed closing, and they were completely flexible with that. The called me earlier in the day and told me they'd be over at 5:30PM and they came over at that time on the dot. I will definitely use Mambo again in the future if I ever move again! read more

I've used Mambo once, another company once, and self moved many many times. Mambo is a great company! Quick (which means less money), efficient, careful, friendly. It's sometimes amazing to watch them because while they don't look like particularly beefy guys, they seem to be able to care twice their body weight. Am particular about some of my things but definitely thought they were respectful of concerns and thoughtful about how to arrange the truck. Because I have small moves (not much stuff) they never took a break or tried to draw out time. My experience with other movers were that they were terrible and took more than 3x as much time to move the same amount or less stuff. I do recommend tipping the workers well because 1) they deserve it and 2) even with a sizable tip, you're still paying much less than other places. read more

They were on time, super nice, VERY respectful of any concerns ( I had a few since I just had hardwood put in my new house). I have used Mambo Movers to move my personal goods, my Pilates studios, and my parents about 11 times total over the last 20 years or so (about as long as they've been in business). For as long as I have used Mambo they have been consistently on time, quick, and professional. Last weekend I had to move my 86 year old father's stuff from a 1 BR apartment to a studio in a senior facility. We did this while he was in a nursing home undergoing rehab after a fall. This was a sad and stressful time for all involved, and Mambo once again made it OK. From the careful yet speedy way they moved my Dad's 50 year old furniture to the calm way they handled the fact that there was only ONE elevator working in the building, leading to no overtime charges, Mambo's 3 Men and a Truck managed to once again save the day! I have to agree with the majority of reviewers. I have used mambo three times now. All three were different types of moves and every time they made the move flawless. They have a system down pat. They got me out of my apt in less than an hour (elevator restrictions) and it was no problem. They have no issues blocking traffic, and closing streets. They are quick, relatively inexpensive and you don't have to do anything. I would recommend you label boxes and help direct them where you want things. Also set up your bed as early as possible so you can store stuff on top of it. They are the best, they work hard, and to top it off they are all artists who can use a few bucks doing what they truly love, whatever that is. Mambo is the only movers I will ever use. read more

I do not recommend. Hired them to move a couple pieces of furniture including a very heavy glass top dining table. They claimed to have wrapped it properly but they chipped one of the corners badly. To their credit - they told me about it but I had no light fixture in the room yet so I didnt really see how bad it was until the next day. They offered me a measly $200 off the bill that was around $400 more than the estimate. I stupidly signed the form and even tipped them. So mad at myself. I contacted them about the extent of the damage and got no response. Disgraceful. read more

I switched from Superior Moving to Mambo based on their reviews. I was livid before they arrived. I had the afternoon appointment and was told that they would be arriving around noon-2, but I got a call around 130 saying they would be there at 5-6! I was so upset , as I had gotten up early to be ready . I sent an email stating I shouldn't be charged the regular rate , they responded saying there was nothing they could do . All of that aside , the actual movers were great . They piled three boxes at a time on their back and took to the truck . They even fixed a broken shelf in my book case. I would give Mambo six stars if I could. From the very first phone call to schedule the move to the crew finishing the move, I could not have been happier with the experience. When I called, someone answered the phone right away and was on point and courteous and scheduled my move. They called to confirm a few days before, and the crew was prompt. They were absolutely amazing with their speed and how careful they were with all of our belongings. We were moving from a two-bedroom apartment with a rickety fire escape as the only way in the house, and they didn't complain once. Everything was in our new house easily, and they were done in 3.5 hours exactly. The crew was friendly, easy-going, and extremely hard working. We used Mambo today to move from downtown Philly out to the burbs. The three man crew called to let me know they were on their way and discuss the parking situation in advance. Incredibly fast and efficient operation, and the very positive upbeat personality of Chris, Dave, and Jay made a normally hellish experience almost enjoyable. We have a bunch of handmade furniture that we were concerned about handling and everything survived without incident. The guys listened to the request and went the extra mile to carefully wrap and delicately move these pieces. Our delivery was a bit chaotic due to it being under major renovation but the guys were very patient and flexible as we decided on the fly where to put things. The move went very fast and we came in a bunch under the estimated cost. Hope we never move again but if we do will definitely call Mambo for help. read more

Dave, Mike and Matt moved us yesterday. They possessed outstanding moving techniques, very professional, and were very attentive and responsive to our "high maintenance" moving requests. They moved heavy bedroom furniture with ease and honored our request to put furniture sliders under our furniture. I used Mambo Movers to move from a 4th floor walk-up to an elevator building with steps. There were friendly and fast, but took care with my items. As many have said, once they figured out what needed to go - they started loading their backs with boxes. They easily took apart my bed, dining room table and dresser with no complaints. For what I was moving and the difficulty of steps, I thought they were extremely well-priced. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move, particularly in Center City when parking and ease of moving aren't always common. read more

Recently had to arrange for a complicated move with more than 1 stop and more than 1 drop off. I called to get a quote and the guy who was helping me was so friendly and assured me that they would be able to handle my move without a problem because they had a few tricks up their sleeves for city moves. The rate we got from Mambo movers was significantly more reasonable than competitors for the job I was trying to accomplish. The move was scheduled in the afternoon (no time actually specified) and we were kind of waiting around hoping they'd call at 12, but they actually called when they were about 45 minutes away and arrived closer to 3. Waiting for a call was the worst part, but that was more due to my own moving stress. Once they arrived, in walk these three super tall, skinny guys. They were so incredibly nice and professional, and relieved so much of the moving stress I had. They also made moving one of my items--my 6 foot tall heavy as F wooden cat tree-- look super easy. The one guy carried it with only one arm!! They were pretty much in and out of each pickup location once given instruction and very politely and carefully unloaded things to each designated drop off location. I ordered pizza for them to eat so that it could arrive by the time I thought they'd be finished, but they were done before the pizza was delivered to the last drop off location. I called Mambo Movers a month and a half prior to my move, based on their great reviews. I scheduled for the morning of Friday, April 26th. They told me they would be at my house about 930am. Because I'm type A, I called again the week before my move to confirm the date and time and they said yup, we will be there. Do you still want us to call the day before the move to confirm and I said yes, please do. They called the day before, I was in a meeting but called back as soon as I could. Once again, we confirmed date and time, although this time they said probably closer to 10am. I said no problem. I also asked if they have plastic for the mattress or should I buy it and they said if I get it, they will put it on. Day of move i waited until 1015. When no one showed yet, I called them to ask where they were. A man, different from the man I confirmed with both times said no, you're scheduled for the afternoon. I said no, I confirmed twice that it was morning. With an attitude, he said there's no way I could have because they had another job scheduled. I said I have no reason to lie and have a lot depending on this being done in the morning. He very rudely said well you're lying cause we would never say morning and we can't come till afternoon. I asked what time. He said he doesn't know, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30. Needless to say I flipped out, yelling and he hung up on me. I called back and another guy, just as rude, didn't believe me about confirming morning either and said what do you want us to do. We can fit you in in 2 weeks. I was beyond pissed. I said fine come out but knew I would be looking for another company in the meantime. After a million other phone calls, I was able to find another great moving company who was able to move me instead. Save yourself a lot of headaches and frustration and stay far away from this company. I couldn't believe that they handle themselves so unprofessionally. Then when I called back to cancel their services, they didn't even answer the phone. I had to leave a message. Who knows if they were ever really planning on coming. We used Mambo for a recent move from the Main Line to East Falls, Philadelphia, and had a great experience. The total move from house to house took about 6 hours with three men and a very large truck. The movers were pleasant, professional, and efficient. (They really do carry things on their backs!) The hourly rates are competitive with other companies in the area. There was only one glitch - we found out after the move that an item had been damaged. But kudos to Mambo's customer service! I cannot imagine how this experience could have been better. Setting it up was easy and the person I spoke with went through everything with me. On moving day I was so stressed and overwhelmed and they walked in to take care of everything. They got the move done faster than I thought possible. If it weren't for Covid I would have hugged them. They took all the necessary Covid safety precautions which I appreciated. When we got to the storage unit I had trouble with the gate and they went above and beyond to help me. I was so grateful. We used Mambo and were generally happy with pricing and the work, but a box of miscellaneous cosmetics and personal items, including expensive binoculars and a 4 foot tall lamp,did not make it to the apartment. When I called Mambo, I was advised that my lamp and box "must be behind a door or somewhere else in my place". Since we emptied every box and have a one floor apartment, I am pretty certain my belongings were left behind. The guys were a bit late coming back from lunch and they did not meet the deadline for our building and were rushed at the end of the day. I suspect they were left on the loading dock of our building and disposed of by building staff. read more
