I only got to try the gluten free option (which is called Low carb) but I think that it in looks, and probably in taste too, was similar to the other two versions. The food definitely fulfilled my wish of wanting to try something new and I liked the taste, it is somewhat close to the taste of falafel. A portion with 2 pieces would have been big enough. The food would work fine as both lunch or dinner. Even though the restaurant is pretty small you could easily bring take out with you to the close by Monteliusvägen and eat your food there in summertime. read more

The most unique dish at MamaWolf is the Okonimiyaki (or just Oko). It's served three different ways. As most of the dishes are small, the menu specially calls out when you should order 4 items. And this applies to the Oko. I normally order one of each Oko, then try out other dishes. I'd recommend getting the spicy karaage, which isn't that spicy at all, more mild, but it has more flavor than the normal karaage. BTW, don't get the mocha ice cream. The mocha seemed very artificial and the ice cream was only okay. And if you want the udon, I'd recommend going in before 6 pm. I went for dinner once after 6 and noticed that they were sold out. I was highly impressed with this informal and authentic Japanese restaurant which is my favorite lunch spot in Södermalm. The food is fresh and creatively spiced, combining traditional ideas with a modern conception that is rarely found in most Japanese restaurants. It is a complete change from sushi, teriyaki, and other overrepeated themes. The prices are also quite reasonable. If I could get there more quickly I would go every week. The staff are friendly and will patiently speak with you in Japanese even if you can hardly say a complete sentence, plus they are fluent in English and Swedish. read more

I just didn't like it. I genuinely disliked it. Disappointed because I expected it to be great, but the quality of the food was bad. The side dish was taken out of a can (pork), the French fries was not freshly made, and the okonomiyaki itself wasn't tasting great. I am giving this place about 3.5 stars because the okonomiyaki was a bit too thick in my opinion. I prefer okonomiyaki that is much more flattened out with bacon.m and the dried fish on TOP. The taste was pretty decent though and price wise, it was pretty affordable. The karaage fried chicken was really good as well as the side salad. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the Stockholm area if they've not had Japanese street food like this. read more

Unfortunately I can't give a better review on this for numerous reasons & I still keep that in mind that this is supposed to be a street food kind of place so not higher expectations than a food truck almost! The okonomiyaki was good but nothing exciting & far from extraordinary or exotic! It was basically a thicker hash brown with extra filling. Usually when I hear Japanese food, I expect some taste far from what I know but they even served edamame right out of the bag ( just like it says on the menu boiled & salted). The salad & fries (side dish) were also very boring & simple! The place is very small & the kitchen & cashier & tables & everything is so compact that they didn't even have space for a restroom! The restaurant can also get very smelly from the kitchen & I didn't particularly enjoyed it. The service wasn't the best either, first of all the girl in cashier forgot to ask what topping we wanted, then they said their terminal is out of order & they only accept cash. They also failed to clear the tables & make sure there is chopstick & tissue available. read more

This is Stockholms first, and so far the only, place to get Okonimiyaki, which is a Japanese, thick, pancake. Finally I can get it here in Sweden, and it's delicious! The Okonomiyakis here are served quick, perfect for lunch. The owner is Japanese and she has made a lot of research to make sure it tastes like a real Japanese Okonomiyaki, but with her own touch. The interior is trendy and decorated with Japanese punk style wall paintings and Japanese punk music is blasting from the speakers. It's a must try for everyone looking for lunch or just a quick snack (they're served in differently sized portions)! There's a vegetarian alternative which is being renewed regularly. read more
