Great parking! You can choose whether to sit indoor or outdoors. We had a family get together. So we sat indoors.. lots of charming photographs of old celebrities hung on the wall. Music was retro 1950s Dean Martin style music, which I absolutely adore. The hostess guided us to out table immediately. Very welcoming. Our server was very friendly, kind and professional. She brought her beverages and some freshly baked bread to our table. Yum. I got the Eggplant Siena. It was so delicious and I loved not only the scent but the flavor. The perfect amount of garlic ! Yum! The presentation was lovely & display of the food on my plate was pleasing as well. The veggies were sitting right next to the rigatoni pasta. Adorable, flavorful and delicious! We all ordered dessert. And I was pretty stuffed, but there was always room for a tiny cannoli. That's what I got and it was magnificent! We all loved our dishes and we would definitely come back. It looks like they have music night sometimes and they have a pet patio... for those that have dogs. How wonderful. Very grateful for all the hard-working people that did everything possible for us to have a magnificent time. We were very well cared for. Such a hard-working staff.

Apple Pie (Fall seasonal cocktail)

Mama's Cafe Baci is an amazing family-run establishment offering delicious Italian food, tasty seasonal cocktail menus - and for those individuals who favor plant-based diets - a deep menu of vegan options. I sat at the bar, and was served by Austin - who is a third-generation owner. I enjoyed a sampler of appetizers - all were delicious and rich in flavor. As a cocktail aficionado, I tried several of Austin's seasonal concoctions - my favorite of which was the rum-based "Apple Pie" cocktail, topped with whip cream. For next time, I may try the Pumpkin Pie Martini. Other entries on the Fall cocktail menu include the Pumpkin White Russian, Apple Cider Mimosa, and Autumn Orchard Sangria. The bar also offers a nice selection of premium whiskies available in 2 oz. pours such as Jefferson's Ocean Reserve, Blanton's, Woodford Reserve, Monkey Shoulder, and Macallan (12/15/18). I ended my night with a smoked Old-Fashioned, the perfect segue into Fall. Mama's also offers a nice selection of mocktails. Setting the sonic atmosphere was a singer-songwriter style guitarist. Cafe Baci apparently offers live music 7 nights a week. It was a great evening out - the food, cocktails, and service were all on point. Can't wait to return!

At first I was a little deceived by the name. I'm so use to a cafe being beverages and pastries. But mama's cafe Baci was great! Everyone was so kind! They bring you bread and pasta as a sampler! The food was delicious you can taste the freshness. Let's talk about mozzarella sticks that don't come from the frozen aisle. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a mozzarella stick like this. To be honest I was full by the time I received my sandwich. I had also ordered garlic knots with mozzarella and I loved the fact that these knots had a wonderful taste of garlic it wasn't just there for show. I will be back!! Soon

The service was good. My eggplant dish was way too strong with the sauce it was in so it was hard to eat. It wasn't cheap but you got big portions. I liked the little pear cheese purses. Room was kind of chilly. They had a heater running. Overall it was good just felt pricey.

Mama's is family! The food is second to none, the service is exceptional. Catering or dining in, hands down the best.

HACKETTSTOWN: From catering for an event with the Dalai Lama, hosting the Happy Gilmore film crew and NJ native Queen Latifa, to knowing Gene Simmons and carrying his Money Bags soda brand, Mama's Cafe Baci can now add a couple of famous pups to their clientele list with Brie and Nugget having visited! Mama's Cafe Baci is a wonderfully dog friendly restaurant and one of the best businesses we have visited in our 7+ years of taking Brie on her adventures! Mama's has been in business for over 50 years and we were thrilled to be invited by the owner's son, Austin, who is heavily involved in the business and very forward thinking when it comes to amazing food options, dog friendliness, and community. We were treated to an amazing lunch of fantastic classic Italian food and they even specialize in vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy free, and keto options! The portions are huge and we indulged in vegan chicken parmesan, vegan chicken francese, vegan penne vodka, focaccia, orzo, selections from their full bar, and only wish we had room for dessert. For each dietary option you are looking for, the menus are HUGE! The hostess also shows the specials on an iPad, which we thought was awesome! Dogs even get to dine in luxury with their special Pooch Cafe menu! Nugget and Brie spoiled themselves with a pumpkin spice latte using healthy ingredients from another local business in the area, Barkista! And their main course was "The Royal Prince" which came with filet mignon tips. They also have other pup-friendly options of meatballs, salmon, chicken, bacon, and even dessert of vanilla ice cream and peanut butter. All the dog options are gluten-free. Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed outside at the Pooch Cafe portion of the restaurant which is located in a cozy space along the side of the restaurant, and when not busy, in the back. The space is open all-year-round and blankets can be provided when it gets chilly. They can also provide water bowls and clean-up baggies. We had excellent service from Ava, Sheri, and the rest of the crew and felt so appreciated by the warm welcome and excitement that we were visiting!

Gluten free heaven As parents of a child recently diagnosed with Celiac, this place was so comforting to dine in. They were on point with ensuring gluten-free meals were handed to the appropriate persons. The calamari was nice. It was fried for sure, but less breading. Slightly oily. Not my absolute fav, but our GF little one hasn't had fried calamari in a while so was very happy. We were passed free taste testers and WOW, the creamy risotto and champagne rosa pasta were delicious as ever. Our entree pasta dishes were delicious! I recommend the DUET. We also got a steak dish. Not crazy about the lemon pesto, but the fra diablo was delish! The service was excellent. The ambiance was warm and cozy, a well-dated italian spot from the early ages vibe. Love the spiral staircase! A gentleman began playing singing and playing on his guitar around 6 or 7 pm. A very, very nice time was had.

This place is definitely interesting. The decor is unusual and they definitely bring the hospitality. Multiple people to consistently check on you, multiple menus to accommodate dietary needs, and even little placards at your table to confirm said needs. Lots of GF options to choose from. I had the calamari and the chicken parm with a sample of some rice with vodka-like sauce they brought out (complementary). The calamari was cooked perfectly and the sauce for that was delicious. As far as the chicken parm, I was sad to see the pasta did not come covered in cheese as well (it would have greatly enhanced the dish) and I was not a fan of the red sauce. This place is 40 min away from me and, while it was good, I can't say I was in love with it enough to drive the distance back.

Mama's Cafe Baci in Hackettstown, NJ. "Fine food & Love of life" is the motto at @mamas_cafebaci and it shows! @mamas_cafebaci is a perfect place for a romantic date or a family friendly night with live music every Friday and a vast menu including gluten free and vegan options! I loved the "4 season sampler pizza"- a 1/4 of each type of pizza that makes everyone happy! I loved this place for their amazing food and service! They even have a "pooch patio" for your fur babies! Treat your pup to a special treat cooked to order from @mamas_cafebaci's pooch cafe menu! @mamas_cafebaci has so many options-perfect for everyone including vegan and gluten free options! Apple ravioli

Ugh I used to love this place but the quality went DOWN. I had this special apple ravioli and it was not great. There were chunks of apple thrown into it. The sauce was chunky and thick. The restaurant could use a face lift for its appearance. Service was good.

This time we were there together with a little dog. We had a great experience. We loved it. It's so nice they treated us and the dog. We really enjoyed it and appreciated it. We will definitely come back again. Service was great and food was great. Also gluten free!

The task: trying to find a local bakery to make a cake for my father's big birthday…read more The major hurdles: husband and I are vegan, sister is mostly gluten-free. And, my parents live just far enough away from major urban areas that finding options that cater to these dietary needs is near impossible. The solution: Windy Haven Farm to the rescue! I spent hours trying to find a place to accommodate all our needs while still not irritating the birthday boy who has pretty strong (i.e., negative) opinions about vegan and gluten-free versions of food. To be fair, I also am a little skeptical about gluten-free baked goods, having had some that have had odd textures, flavors, etc. With all these concerns, I decided to text the number and requested a call back. The incredibly sweet, patient, and knowledgeable owner Kim called me right back. I asked her my questions, and Kim told me her cakes are not too sweet and have a texture that is similar to "regular" cakes. She also told me about the ingredients she uses. Based on what my dad likes, I asked Kim for suggestions and ended up choosing a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and fresh organic fruit compote. Kim told me that due to the season (it was early spring), good fresh, local, and organic fruit wasn't readily available and that she could use a good quality frozen organic fruit to make the compote. I chose a cherry compote since I knew my dad would enjoy it. The price of the cake was a serious bargain for what we ended up getting. Kim told me I could order online and request a pick-up on Monday from her house without any additional charge. Due to weather issues, we ended up meeting at the local police station where I was given a gorgeous cake along with a pretty, gold colored "Happy Birthday" sign to insert into the cake before serving. Well, everyone LOVED the cake, and there wasn't a peep about it being gluten-free or vegan. Honestly, it just tasted just like a "regular" delicious cake one could find at a high end conventional bakery -- maybe even better! The texture and flavor of the chocolate cake was delightful, the buttercream was flavorful and not overly sugary, and the cherry compote complemented it all nicely. My father was very happy, and it made his birthday all that more special. Many thanks to Windy Haven Farm! You've now got a long term customer from me and my whole family.

The restaurant had a nice Caribbean vibe with region appropriate music adding to the feel. Everything looked clean and the awesome smells of the food filled the air. All in all, everything was good. Only gripes were the smallish piece of salmon and the extremely mild to my taste buds Rasta pasta. The other plates had tons of food which made for leftovers. The Rasta pasta was easily kicked up a notch with a little jerk seasoning from the house. With the coupons, deals, and great food, this place will remain our local go-to for Caribbean food.

We visit Jim Thorpe annually and were excited to try this place given its vegan options. When we entered the restaurant, the set-up was a little confusing. They did seat us pretty quickly though, and the service was probably the only positive to this experience. My husband and I both ordered cocktails; he had the Manhattan while I had a special vodka drink they were offering that day. Our drinks were overall fine but not anything special. My husband's Manhattan was very basic tasting. The menu and the food were the worst parts. The menu is unnecessarily long and phony sounding, like they are trying to be quirky but just come across as fake and condescending. There's extra, unnecessary description of the food that makes the menu difficult and frankly annoying to review. We ordered the bread teaser as well as the hummus. The pesto and the hummus were basic store level quality. The bread was definitely undercooked. For our entrees, we ordered the Cleopatra salad and a pasta dish. The salad tasted fine enough but it was basically just romaine lettuce with a very light dusting of nutritional yeast, vegan cheese, and a very low amount of chickpeas/protein. The pasta was an absolute travesty. It was extremely oily, flavorless, and bland. To top it all off, the food is extremely expensive! They have absolutely no business charging that much. The interior of the place is also a waste of space. It doesn't make any sense that it calls itself a pub. There's also stupid decor everywhere, including a sign that says "no" leading out to an employee-only location. I guess that's supposed to be funny but just comes across as condescending. It's a shame that this place has such a good location with Jim Thorpe and apparently can make a pretty penny serving subpar food and weird vibes. Don't waste your money.

***If there's one review you should read before deciding to come here, it's this one. I'm about to…read morewax poetic.*** Let me preface by saying that I'm a young adult who considers himself a bit of a foodie. I work in Times Square so I usually frequent fine dining establishments in the city, but my home is North Jersey so I am acutely aware that there are some hidden gems in this state. Last week, I was at the Saddle River Inn in Saddle River and was blown away. But this place is far, far, even more exceptional. Greatest dining experience ever. Called the restaurant due to a last-minute cancelation in my party. Evan, a manager, was super helpful in waiving any cancelation fees. It's BYOB and there's a brewery across the street that apparently does takeout. I just brought beer from my house. They gave me chilled glasses and a bucket of ice to keep my refreshments chilled. Onto the ambience. You walk in and it's a nice, cozy little place with tables and a bar top with an open kitchen layout behind it. You can see all the food that's cooking and the presentations that go behind each dish - all live in front of you. The chef's were busy but always obliged when I said hey or asked a question. I tried the 5 course chef's tasting menu for $125. You get a little bit of all of the best flavors coming out of the kitchen. And the flavors are always changing. They source their ingredients from local farms. First came out complimentary course #1 - all I remember is it had crudo in it. Then course #1 - gulf shrimp with squid. This is the point where I decide no matter how else dinner plays out, I'm coming back. What fresh ingredients and creative flavor pairings. Next was course #2 - duck confit spring roll. It's just a smaller portion of what's regularly on their menu. This may have been my favorite item of the night. Next was wood fired octopus in tagliatelle pasta. After that, I believe, was complimentary course #2 - what appeared to be a caesar salad. Anything they make is delicious. Finally, I had an American wagyu strip as the fourth course. Absolutely delectable. At this point, I'm in Heaven. But I'm not quite yet full and ready for my dessert - profiteroles - one of my favorite desserts. I was looking forward to it from the moment I walked in and saw it listed on the tasting menu. I only eat 1 meal a day so when I finally eat, I eat a lot. A normal person would be full at this point, but I wanted more. I also couldn't help but think it might have something to do with me not wanting to leave and just try anything this kitchen made. So I ordered more. I asked for their regular menu and ordered some more duck confit spring rolls and some type of pork belly entree. Quick note - the pork belly entree was not good. You have to take the losses on the chin to make the wins matter more. Pork belly over beans? It was like bbq ribs meets an English breakfast. Please get rid of that, respectfully. After 3 bites, I didn't want any more so I quietly flagged down my server, Kat, and told her please quietly take this, I fully intend to pay for it since I ordered it; it's just no good. And I had been raving to her about every dish up until that point. So she insisted that she'd take it off the check. I insisted I'd pay, she kept insisting, so I relented. That's really good customer service. Now time for dessert. I wish I could say I was ending on a better note but the Profiteroles - which I mentioned is a favorite dessert of mine - massive disappointment. After everything else was put together for care, I got notes of freezer for this last one - especially the pumpkin part. I love this restaurant and I intend on returning as soon as possible, so please don't take offense to my constructive criticism. I applaud your efforts to infuse different flavors together. It is working wonders for you. Keep it up. I'm gonna share pictures of everything, including the menu. But the last 2 things I'll talk about are the cost and the service. With the pork belly entree taken off, it was just the 5 course tasting menu, an order of duck confit spring rolls, and a $6 double espresso. The total came out to $168 after taxes. I tipped $168. That's right. 100%. In a world where people like to dock tip percentages from their precious "20%" for what they perceive to be a lack of good service, let's normalize going above 25% for exceptional service. Not everyone can afford 100% like me, but next tip tip your servers 30-35% for exceptional service. As a former server in my heyday, I promise it'll mean more to them than the few extra dollars to you. And exceptional service is what I got. From manager Evan, to server Kat, to all of the others I met - forgive me if I forget any names. Chef Kelly, Chef Mike, Chef Jon, Keira, Jimmy. Thank you for an unforgettable 5-star experience. Keep up the exceptional work. I will see you again soon.
