We ordered pistachio croissant, pistachio cherry croissant tube, forgot the other one's name with three honey lavender latte with oat milk. The ambiance was great and especially pistachio croissant was my favorite! Very fresh and toasty, goes well with coffee :) It gets crowded really fast so I recommend to get there early in the morning. From the furniture to the floor tiles to the fine china, it looked like a fancy place for afternoon tea. The staff was also very friendly. We ordered the marzipan buttercream latte, the evergreen latte, tartine Au salmon, and pistachio croissant. The lattes were good. You could taste the distinct flavors of each one without being too artificial. The tartine was on rye bread (I think) and had a stronger fennel seed flavor and was topped with pickled red onions which gave it a sharp acidic pop in each bite. Lastly, the pistachio croissant had a good amount of crumbled pistachios with a pistachio cream inside. Overall, all the food was very good, not great. Wow! This is a gourmet upscale legit amazing cafe. It is way nicer than that other chain that offers sandwiches, soups and pastries. Four college friends met here as a central meeting spot. It is a quick service joint. Two grabbed the table, two ordered. We started with the 3 pastry basket, we thought we could select. But they toss it in without your input. All the options were amazing, we really wanted this raspberry pastry so the next two guests ordered that. We had four different items that we cut up in quarters, it was perfect a little taste of it all. I had the Turkey and goat cheese with fig jam panini so good! So did another diner minus the onions. I had some sparkling water. The two others also had the same thing! The breakfast skillet, one got the eggs scrambled and the other kept it sunny side up. The one thought that the bacon jam was overpowering. We sat for a while and enjoyed each others company. We got our own silverware and thick good quality napkins, plus drinking glasses and bottle of water for the table. The bathroom was cute with the tile and clean. I've been to two other Mamans in NYC - always a delight, as was this one. I still love the blue and white decor, and always feel fancy walking out with a hot drink in those beautiful paper cups. First of all, the ambiance is on point. It's a "order and find a table" kind of place and bustling with customers. We went on a Saturday morning, 6 of us. We were able to find a table pretty quickly after other people got up. The staff is quick to clean the tables. Then we ordered food. I got the papa bowl minus bacon and the lavender latte. It came in the cutest bowl and mug. I asked for less lavender because I don't really like really sweet strong syrups. It was so delicious I ended up ordering it iced on my way out. The bowl was delicious! The sauce might be spicy for some, but the avocado cooled it off. The egg was a little well done but not horrible. We sat there for a while and ordered dessert too. The ambiance inside is gorgeous. Tons of natural light and greenery all around. Sitting at the mismatched chairs and tables with coffee rings is fun, and the food fits the theme well. It's really adorable. I could definitely see myself getting a cappuccino, a sandwich, and reading a book here on a week day and feeling very much like a main character. It's fairly loud inside, but even though it was quite busy, we were able to get a table quickly. You order food and then bring it to a table, and I did think it was a little pricey for self service. Carafes of water and silverware and stuff are available as well (again, self service). Definitely a step up from Panera, and the aesthetic certainly does not disappoint, but it's a similar setup. The food itself was good. I thought the food was on the heavy side for brunch. We were stuffed for hours afterwards. The presentation was absolutely beautiful. The avocado toast and breakfast hash went over really well with my group. Everything was tasty but it wasn't anything unique. A lovely cafe to catch up with friends or hang out, snap some pictures, and enjoy the fun environment, but not exactly a culinary tour de force. Still had a great time! read more

Maman, originating from NYC, has opening a location by me and I couldn't be more excited!! Upon walking in, I was blown away by the flourishing greenery and dazzling decor. Everywhere you look is so picturesque and dreamy. I had to take a moment to take in each view. The staff are kind and can help you with any questions you have! It can get super crowded on the weekends, so I recommend coming during a random weekday in the middle of the day! I've tried a lot of the pastry items, bakery items, coffee, and then one of the brunch items. The items are on the pricier side, but I think the pastries and baked goods are the most worth it and are the standouts! The coffee prices are on par with other cafes and chains and the brunch/lunch item prices match other restaurants in the area. There are so many fun coffee items to try, but I love going for the Honey Lavender Latte. My favorite baked goods and pastries are the beignets (might not be available), almond croissant, cookies, and the chocolate croissants. I've only tried the breakfast sandwich, but I'm planning to try more of their brunch items! It was tasty, but it wouldn't be the reason I came back to Maman. We had a lot of hope for this place, looks pretty and is in a prime spot. So we finally went to try it today and ordered the Papas breakfast bowl and the Elisa's breakfast bowl. To my utter disappointment I found a sharp thick shard of plastic in my Papa's bowl. The waiter was unapologetic and was busy convincing us that it wasn't glass but plastic. If there's a place to avoid at Princeton, it's probably here. It's charming and it's instagrammable. That's where the positives end. Everytime I've been suckered to coming here, I've left utterly frustrated. Ever since this place opened, it's been busy. I don't fault a business for that. But you'd think they'd learn a thing or two about efficient business over the course of time. The ordering line goes all the way to China during peak hours (breakfast, brunch, lunch, weekends) because of their asinine methods. You have a case of loaded pastries but no one takes your order until you reach the cashier. So you're stuck remembering all the names or you're crawling over people (backwards) to pick out what you want. And then the coffee. Just as slow to come out and beyond mediocre. At least you get a pretty cup. And this is not even mentioning the price. During my first trip here, there was literally a one dollar up charge for a syrup in the latte. I was so incensed I went and bought a bottle of the syrup myself. This is coming from a person who buys a latte a day - I'm no stranger to spending money frivolously. All this to say you're paying Princeton prices for Parisian-like Panera food. Anyways this place is pretty. Come here for the vibes. You won't be alone. But you'll just be whelmed. read more

OK, so I've been a huge Maman fan for quite some time at the NYC locations and was thrilled to learn that one opened up in Princeton. My first impression was that they have some kinks to work out, mainly in the service area, but the rest of the experience was very enjoyable. The menu has a wide variety of sweet and savory options, and Maman's famous pastry selection did not disappoint. Their cookies stole the show, and are thick, ooey gooey, pieces of pure deliciousness. The pumpkin spice cookies are very seasonal and a personal favorite of mine, and their chocolate chip walnut ones are of course famous and delicious as well. Papa's breakfast bowl is an amazing breakfast option, as is the breakfast sandwich. Yum. Their hot beverages were amazing and I love that most beverages on the menu can be ordered in decaf form. My honey lavender latte was top notch, not to sweet or overwhelming, made just right. Now, onto the service. Unlike many of the NYC locations, this location makes you order first up front and make a mad dash to secure a table. It was very packed and we had to stand around for about 15 minutes after ordering to get one. At other locations, you have the option of ordering to-go or sitting down and ordering off of a menu and being served, like in a normal restaurant. Here, you get your own silverware, water, etc. Not that big of a deal, but rather a slight inconvenience. It would be nice if they could provide a bit more seating, somehow. Small world coffee up the street has a better chocolate chip miso cookie in my opinion. The cookie was flat and crispy not round and chewy. Yeaaaahh. No. I won't be buying that again. I also got the kouign amann. It was not good at all. Not what I'm accustomed to having. It was over baked. The positive thing I can add to this review is the Apple cake. It's really good actually. Extremely disappointed. Spent $80+ including tip and enjoyed the meal, ambiance, and overall time spent until it was about time to leave (meter was about to expire). Then, sis asked me to be the godfather of her daughter so naturally I wanted to extend my stay; you can't just leave after being asked a question like that. I needed to top-up the meter, so I approached a barista and asked for change for the meter but she declined, saying it was against their policy to give change for meters but if I wanted to stay and order something, maybe they could do it. 'I did order something, we've been here a while.' 'Oh, I see, well we can't do that it's just against the policy.' 'We just had this really nice time and we'd like to stay longer, possibly order more drinks, but I need change for the meter in order to do that.' 'I'm sorry we just can't.' A major memory in my life tarnished by a myopic minion over a stupid policy; they'll never get another nickel of my money. Other honorable mentions: -guy charged my credit card for an extra quiche (he admitted to and corrected the problem, so no big deal, but) instead of telling me he went to my mother (again, it was my card, I was the one who paid him.) -my mother and I got served in nice mugs but sis got a to-go mug (if this was the only thing, I wouldn't have mentioned it, but since I'm already here, it seems like they're inconsistent in their delivery of service - some get it good, others just so-so.) -In light of all of the above, I would say they're grossly overpriced. Give better service for your prices, or lower your prices to match the mediocre service. read more

Loved having a new coffee/breakfast place in Princeton. The food is good and the staff always very nice. (Great pastries which I can't ever resist.) The reason I'm not giving five stars: too many times I come in and they're out of oat milk or their espresso machine is down or they're understaffed and the wait is too long for a quick coffee. It's now happened enough times over a short period that I think it's an operational issue as opposed to an occasional thing. If it's morning and/or you have time, I recommend. But if it's the afternoon and you are time constrained... maybe not the place. (Also WiFi would be great as it's a dead zone for cell. But that's just a nice to have. No bearing on this review.) I hope they can make the changes needed so I can come at 3! read more
