Finally got to try this spot!!! It's located inside of an international supermarket in Waldorf, just before you get to the Sam's Club. Parking is available right in front, but can be a bit tricky to maneuver coming in and out so be cautious. Staff were friendly and answered any questions I had about the menu. Four booth tables located inside where you can eat in if you wish. Chicken kebabs were grilled to perfection! I could definitely taste the yogurt marinade, which made them tender and juicy. Flavor was great, not salty or overpowering. It came with four kebabs, rice, and salad. Everything was fresh and perfect. It's a bit pricey, so if you're trying for the first time maybe try the lunch special (11am-3pm). They also have lots of milkshake options. I will be back to try them soon :) read more

Finally... and yes, I do mean finally, Maman Joon has arrived in Southern Maryland. As someone who's been a loyal fan of this cuisine for years, this is a big deal. Restaurants like Maman Joon and Moby Dick's specialize in Persian-style fare: flavorful chicken, lamb, salmon, and more, typically served with rice, salad, and warm bread. Simple, satisfying, and consistently delicious. I've frequented the Maman Joon location in Tysons for years. In fact, it's my go-to spot whenever I'm in that area. I've loved this cuisine for decades, it delivers bold flavor at a reasonable value, which is a hard combination to beat. That said, I'd be remiss if I didn't share one recurring frustration at the Tysons location. There's one young lady at the register who seems to prioritize dollars over customer care. For example, Maman Joon offers several sauces with their meals. I'm partial to the green (spicy) sauce and usually need a bit extra to fully enjoy my food. Despite exchanging the white (yogurt) sauce, she consistently tried to charge me for the additional green sauce. On one occasion, a senior gentleman (possibly the owner or manager) noticed and told her to simply give me the sauce. On another visit, I ordered the standard chicken, rice, and salad at noon and was charged the full dinner price. I paid without initially noticing, but when I saw the lunch pricing posted, I asked about the upcharge. Her response? "You didn't say you wanted the lunch menu." It was noon. To be clear, everyone else I've encountered there has been great, amazing, even. I've had many pleasant conversations with the gentleman about the upcoming Southern Maryland location. Unfortunately, my repeated interactions with her always left a bad taste in my mouth... no pun intended. Now, onto the long-awaited Waldorf location, situated on Route 301 beside the new World Food Supermarket (a review of that is coming soon). They share a small space just to the left of the supermarket, along with a relatively small parking lot that serves several neighboring businesses. While there are designated spaces, enforcement is practically nonexistent, so parking can be a bit of a challenge. Also, inside the area is cafe-style with just a few seating options. As for Maman Joon itself, the Waldorf location delivers the same great-tasting food at what appears to be the same value. On my first visit, I wasn't charged the lunch menu price for my order, but honestly, I was just happy they were finally local, so I let it slide. On my second visit, however, they were out of my beloved green sauce. The manager was extremely apologetic and assured me that it wouldn't happen again. He even offered us a couple of baklava samples, which were quite tasty. Still, for me, the green sauce is non-negotiable, it completes the meal. Had I known they were out before ordering, I likely would've chosen something else. All things considered, Southern Maryland now has its very own Maman Joon, and that alone is worth celebrating. Like any new location, there are a few wrinkles to iron out, but that's expected. The staff has been kind, welcoming, and accommodating on both visits so far. As a longtime fan of Persian cuisine, I couldn't be more excited. Recommendation Level: If you enjoy Persian cuisine or are simply looking to try something fresh and flavorful, you'll love this place. I went after work on a week day after placing an order over the phone. They were out of a few things that my friend wanted but the person who answered the phone was so pleasant. It's located in the world food grocery store. The restaurant was empty. My order was not ready when I arrived but the wait was not too long. They offer complimentary tea which is much better than the newest dc location. I didn't eat my food when it was hot but it was ok. The pita bread is ok. The chickpeas were not good. I was so excited to see that Maman Joon Kitchen has come to Waldorf , Md. I first tried them in Tysons Corner, which was very tasty and delicious. The Ambiance in Waldorf is cozy not as big as the one in Tyson's, but they do have an option to sit and dine, a few row of seats. They are combined with a grocery store, which may make it seem odd to dine in. The service was outstanding, from the moment I walked in to the dining and when I left. They made sure I enjoyed the food, let me try some things and even gave me a little taste of their dessert upon leaving. I really enjoyed the food, even had some left for later. I most definitely will be back! If you're in the Waldorf area and like Mediterranean, you should certainly try them out, you won't be disappointed! read more

The chicken nor salmon was neither fresh nor tender; it tasted days old, very dry, and hard, lacking fresh seasoning. Maybe it's due to the fact that the staff was friendly and kind and the place looked clean because the food itself my wife and I felt the food was not tasty at all bland actually. The chicken kebab was not seasoned at all. It was like they sprinkled a dusting on top and then grilled it. It was not marinated or nothing just plain chicken. The lamb and the beef kebab had the same treatment, not marinated just lightly dusted and then grilled. The rice was very bland no seasoning no nothing normally when I eat at kebab places the rice has a bit of flavor to it. This place. The theme was bland all around. They placed the uncooked kabobs in the same pan as the kabobs they are pulling off the grill. It appears they used the same knife to cut raw and cooked food. When I asked about it, they tried to act like they didn't understand what I was saying. I wont be going back!!!! read more
