    Mama T's Italian combo
    Darren G.

First time trying here and glad was not rushed on deciding what get, pretty friendly here on customers I noticed. Plus my food was done earlier then they quoted so another plus. The grandma slice was great, I like how they thick crust one and a thin one. Plenty of melted mozzarella and decent amount of sauce, plus crust was just right not charred and not underdone as well. The Italian combo, that was something, not many places put prosciutto in the sandwich and a good amount as well, then the fact it had fresh mozzarella which I never seen in one anywhere I been. All the other meats there was a very generous amount and plenty of Italian dressing to keep the sandwich well dressed, rather it being a dry sandwich. Plus it having provolone cheese on top of mozzarella was great too, for its price glad it was epic and tasted amazing.

It's so fun to find high quality places. There are so many restaurants I visit I don't write a review for. But occasionally something special happens. I looked for highly rated restaurants in the vicinity of my hotel. I was looking for family style type of Italian. Some of the good reviews had the words I like to see "never been disappointed" or "every pasta dish has been excellent". I walked in close to closing time. I asked the young lady what I should order since I hadn't been there before. She recommended a chicken and shrimp penne pasta. I also ordered a slice of eggplant pizza. The food was spot on delicious. I cook, I can identify herbs and flavors. But sometimes the combinations of flavors hit so perfectly that you just go "How? How is this so good?" It was that good. It was music in my mouth. So so good. If you go. Go with a big appetite. The servings were large. I can't wait to go back.

Great thin slice pizza. Specialty slices are great as well, and their cheesesteaks are great.

The bistro has a cute exterior offering a few outdoor seats and a minimal but stylish interior and is perfect if you want to stay and chill or get your food to go. This isn't Subway so the sandwiches are priced above $10, but considering the quality and quantity (and maybe because I'm just acclimated to paying ridiculous prices in the City) you definitely get your money's worth. I heartily enjoyed the sliced hanger steak sandwich and found the mix of horseradish mayo, sautéed mushrooms, and arugula on a toasted ciabatta to be perfection. I also tried the fried chicken sandwich which was well seasoned and made all that much better with the sriracha mayo and pickles! I will be back for certain to explore the rest of the sandwich and salad options, especially the capers and oyster mushroom sandwiches and roasted beet and goat cheese salads. They also offer baked goods from Newburgh Flower Shop down the block as well as a variety of coffee and tea drinks. If you get pickup, call the restaurant directly because the prices through Doordash are higher to compensate for the fees the restaurant has to pay. Good to have Toasted on the Liberty Street scene!

The bread was sturdy and crusty and crunchy on the outside. The oyster mushrooms were accompanied with a lovely spicy aioli and pickles. Even though it may a cost a little more than a sandwich from a national chain, the food is made with lots of care with fresh ingredients and the portion is enough for two lunches (at least for me). It was a little messy so I was glad I was outside to enjoy it. It's a small space inside (perhaps 5 square table for 2 each) and it's almost kitty corner to my favorite shop, Oliver & Chatfield. Since it's a little further down on Liberty street, you'll find plenty of street parking.

I haven't gotten food from a Subway in at least a year or two, but I got some coupons from them in…read morethe mail recently, so I decided to go there and use my coupon. As they were preparing my sandwich, I noticed that it was a very unimpressive sandwich with very little meat, not only compared to what you can get in any local sandwich shop or deli, but even compared to the sandwiches at the local QuickChek gas station. My sandwich was mostly just filled with a bunch of iceberg lettuce. As I said, I mainly went there just because I had a coupon for a $5 foot long sandwich. Then, once I went to pay, I realized there was a sign by the cash register saying that they don't accept coupons. They wouldn't take my coupon, so I had to pay $8 plus tax rather than $5 plus tax. I could get a far superior sandwich anywhere else for about the same price or less. I also thought it was kind of deceptive to put that sign right by the cash register so you don't notice until your food has already been made and you're ready to pay, but they didn't have any sign about their refusal to accept coupons by the front door or anywhere else in the store. The other downside was that I found a tiny hair that looked like an eyelash on a piece of lettuce that fell out of my sandwich. In all fairness, there's a possibility that it could've been my own hair, but I don't think it was. I'll be kind of charitable and give them two stars instead of one though just because the worker was somewhat friendly and they made my sandwich correctly.
