I had a really disappointing and uncomfortable experience here. I followed the dress code to get in with no issues. Once inside, it got hot, so I tied my jacket around my waist. I wasn't bothering anyone--in fact, people were coming up to compliment me. At one point, a man (who didn't even identify himself at first) told me to put my jacket back on. I questioned who he was, but later I agreed to comply and said I would put it back on. Despite that, multiple security guards came up and started physically pushing me toward the exit. I even sat down and told them again that I would follow the dress code. People around me spoke up and said I was cooperating, but the staff ignored it and continued to force me out. Being removed after agreeing to comply felt unnecessary and excessive. The way it was handled was disrespectful and honestly embarrassing. If you're going to enforce a dress code, at least do it consistently and give people a fair chance to fix the issue. This experience left a really bad impression. read more

Stopped in on a random Tuesday evening before a concert. They were hosting a gaming convention and it was cool to see the set up (they do this every other Tuesday apparently). Friend and I stopping in just for a drink and we were greeted by a super friendly and fun bartender, Michael. He offered up suggestions on drinks and had a killer playlist going - he told us it was his own. Drinks were beautifl and well balance, SO good. This was my first time at this bar/club . I was with my husband and we were greeted by there door security 2 black men and Asian male who I am going to call annoying and unprofessional ,rude, culturally insensitive, no respect for their elders , racist...... We asked if we had to walk to the end of it or just go into front line from the front stanchion One of the Security asked Mr annoying He told us to walk around to the end of the long empty line. lol we followed what was requested, now back to the front of the line.:. (Noting time at 9:58 pm) Mr annoying tells my husband "there is a dress code and his T-shirt is not acceptable!" We then went our car to put on a knitted sweater and walked back (Mr. annoying said that it was not acceptable either and it must be our culture) he then said if we came before 10 he would have let us in. Please note that earlier time was before 10..... (mr. annoying ) said it was busy night inside but he would let us in anyway but to dress nicer next time. When We did make it inside and there were maybe 20 people inside .... Hello "no one inside was dressed nicely". People were wearing T-shirts. This has really left a bad taste in our mouth for this venue. Tic-tok suggested this venue and to say it was very disappointing was an understatement. I felt so disrespected and felt like we were in the Jim Crow days just with an Asian twist. Please join me in avoiding this venue. My friends and I went to Mama Lion Saturday night at 1130 p.m. While we were waiting in line, two bouncers walked up and down the line five or six times. They seemed to just want to check on the line and see who was waiting, but otherwise did not indicate to have any issues. We waited in line for about 20-30 minutes until we were the second group from the front door. A bouncer (a different one from the two that walked up and down the line) told me that I wouldn't be let in because I was wearing a white tshirt. I didn't think anything of it because I get that clubs and lounges sometimes have dress codes. The confusing part, however, was that they just let in someone wearing a white tshirt and for the 5-8 minutes we waited second in line, there were three or four guys that walked out of Mama Lion wearing white tshirts. Because my friends still wanted to go to in, I decided to wear my friend's track jacket and zipped it up to cover my white tshirt. When we got to the front of the line, the bouncer said that even though the white tshirt was covered, I still won't be let in because the jacket was too athletic. And apparently he "spoke to management" and they agreed, despite not leaving his post. Again, it was a confusing reason considering there were guys wearing hoodies and tshirts and other "athletic" clothing. It was embarrassing and what I was wearing seemed to be a pretext for something else, especially since (1) two bouncers didn't think it was an issue when they walked up and down the line earlier; (2) the reason for not letting me in seemed to change; (3) others literally wore what the bouncer said I couldn't; and (4) I was the only non-Asian and non-light skin person in line. In any event, it's 2025 and LA and no one should be made to feel excluded for reasons out of their control. read more

Last night we pulled into this lounge for my friends 23rd bday party! She booked a table for bottle service & we danced the night away. The lounge bar was very clean and great services, our bottle girl was super sweet and always checking in on us. Aside from the bomb drinks, the music here was AMAZINGG! They play such a diverse range & project the videos it got so lit. At first I thought it would just be a cute sit down vibe but before I knew it we were all on the dance floor going hard!! I do wish the dance floor had been bigger & the crowd of people there were more diverse but overall a great night. I had never heard of this spot before but I will definitely be going back. I've been to ktown in LA a couple of times and finally stopped by this place. As a person from the bay that likes energetic, social environments, this ain't it, but it might be a SoCal thing. Bouncers had us waiting 10 minutes in line for no reason for the bar that only had maybe 12 people total on a Friday night. He said we needed to wait a while and then walked off somewhere. Great for those that enjoy a 35+ year old crowd, girls that want free drinks, or group of girls who want to take shelter - it's relatively easy for a group of girls to get in with the promoter and make a connection. I visited with a group of girls as twentysomethings and felt out of place the entire time, so I wouldn't suggest here for that age group. I will say it was easy to get free drinks though if you know how to use that to your advantage. We were able to get vodka shots at a table and I don't know what brand it was but it tasted CHEAP. It had a really strong aftertaste and a very strong burning sensation. I'm glad we didn't pay for it, but if you're thinking about it, just skip it. What I want to take the time to rave about is their water dispenser outside the women's bathroom. I HATE bars and clubs that don't offer guests free drinking water. Mama Lion was a refreshing (no pun intended) change because of that. If you come here, make sure to use it and stay hydrated! The security I will say are a bit wack. There's a hallway area outside the bathroom towards the center bar where I understand they want clear for the bottle girls. What I do not appreciate is being pushed by security to move and yelled at. I can't move if there's physically no room for me to move. Vibes wise it was pretty empty when we went at 10:30 which was surprising and it took a good amount of time before more people came in. Managers have a lot of leeway here and they abuse it. Pick girls from line, which I could kind of understand, but then put them at their "manager tables" and sit / force them to take shots with them. So if you get there late, you have to be willing to sell yourself or you are screwed. Doesn't matter how much money you have and how many girls you have. Sit with them or wait outside. We came here for dine la in fall 2022! The food was absolutely delicious (although the garlic noodles were a bit buttery for my taste) I was saddened to see these dishes aren't regulars on the menu since the spaghetti squash was quite possibly my favorite dine la entree this year!! Their Caesar salad also made me want to grill/broil my own lettuce in salad! I'd never considered that before trying and falling in love with their lettuce :) There is a valet around the corner near the axe throwing place for pretty cheap (~$3) Overall, I want to return but none of their regular dishes sound quite as lovely as their dine la dishes were! read more

Call me old but I thought Mama Lion used to serve food as a restaurant and stuff? Maybe it still does but nowadays I see it mostly as a nightclub for all you folks in ktown. Did that stop me from checking it out on a weekend? Nope. So the biggest plus is that there's seldom a cover charge so just show up, wait in line, walk right in. The space itself is a little intimate, it's not huge but still sizable enough for you to get your groove on. Music and drinks are pretty typical for any nightclub with the occasional trending kpop songs. Course like any club in LA, prices are upcharged, and tables will drain your wallet quickly, otherwise this is a fun time if you come out with friends. Not much else to say, dress accordingly, don't be a dick, and enjoy the night. read more

This is one of my favorite clubs in ktown, and here's why. Ambiance: Classy restaurant by day, popular upscale club by night. You may not notice it from the outside, but once you step inside, you're surrounded by gold decor, elegant chandeliers, and velvety curtains. The walls are made of brick, which can be a bit too much of a contrast for some, but when it comes to working with what they've got, they do it well; you don't really notice it when it's dark anyways. As for the crowd, it can be a blend of age groups sometimes, but most people there are mid-20s to 30s. The age may skew a bit older though, if we're talking about tables. Regardless of age though, everyone dresses appropriately for an upscale club here. Service: I'll be breaking this down into 3 main categories of staff that everyone will directly interact with - bartenders, music, and security. Bartenders - I've really only interacted with Michael and Marcello (more on him later), but they both seem incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Not only does Michael know how to make the best cocktails, but he has an impressive roster of custom mocktails at his disposal too. Would highly recommend getting a drink from him. Marcello (aka Cello) is now actually the manager, but prior to his promotion, he was one of the bartenders. This bodes well for Mama Lion, as his experience working behind the bar will likely transfer over to understanding how to run it. Music: Any good club will have a live dj, and that's certainly no exception at Mama Lion. I almost always go there exclusively on Saturdays, because DJMissNinja is the resident dj those nights. She is absolutely amazing, and knows how to seamlessly integrate a variety of song genres; rap, hip hop, edm, and even kpop! An unfortunate side effect of her expertise in djing though is that there's almost always a big crowd on Saturdays, but that just goes to show you how great of a dj she is. Security: When I talk to them, the security team always seem friendly, but firm; it's their job to enforce the rules. If you respect them, then they'll respect you. For the most part, Mama Lion follows the typical club dress attire: no athletic clothing (sweats, jerseys, athletic shorts, etc), no hats, no flip flops, etc. Security WILL deny people if they do not abide by those rules. Food: I've never eaten here before, so I can't speak on it. read more

One bouncer called me out of my name, then the other decided to put his hands on me and yell at the line that it is my fault that the line is being held up for "drinking too much" then proceeds to let the people in front of us in who were just as intoxicated. Security at the front sucks and denies entry for random reasons. They wouldn't let my friend in because his "arms were showing too much". There were other dudes in actual tank tops inside the bar.
