Obviously, I'm writing a review as an outlier here; however, I do not share the same experience as everyone else. It's unfortunate too because I had high hopes for this place. The food itself I'd say is probably a solid 3 stars. We ordered the vegan pizzas and the crust was good BUT it was pretty dry. It could have used more red sauce and less oregano. The toppings were plentiful but the oregano was a bit excessive and overpowered the pizza. The pepperoni pizza for my non-vegan family member was rated average in flavor. I ordered a garden salad which we didn't even get to eat due to no fault of theirs but because we forgot about it and left it out. I believe the only vegan friendly dressing was the balsamic. There was some miscommunication about the Italian but it turns out it had Parmesan. Inside it was a bit warm but outside on their patio had a nice breeze. There were only a few tables outside with a descent view of the lagoon. My husband chatted with one of the owners a bit while I was ordering. I ordered three pizzas and a salad (as stated above). At the time I ordered I also tipped (I need to stop doing this because of moments like this). The girl took my order and I paid we waited nearly 40 minutes for our pizza. When she handed us our pizzas we only received two and when I asked about the third, the clerk initially denied me ordering three saying I only ordered two. She later acknowledged the mistake and said I was correct and she apologized. It did feel like a bit of an argument. They offered to make the third pizza if we agreed to wait. I was under the assumption that they were offering to make it free since we had already waited SO long for our pizza and had to wait an additional 15 minutes. No, this has nothing to do with the ovens needing to be heated as there were several other people ordering pizzas before and during our arrival. I thought they were comping the pizza only to find out they had my family member pay for the pizza that they mistakenly did not put on the ticket. So our pizzas were getting cold while my Mother's was cooking. We we're taking this pizza back to our Airbnb to enjoy and wanted a family meal on the beach. They didn't offer a discount or the comped pizza for the inconvenience. I'm floored with the quality and level of service. I paid for the food and any additional costs should have been paid by me, not requested from a member in my party. I believe this is extremely unprofessional service. We waited an hour for 3 pizzas and a salad- two of the pizzas cold by the time we got to our nearby Airbnb due to waiting for the third pizza. I can't say I will return if I'm in the area. I realize this place is popular with transplant locals and tourists in route to La Bufadora- but the service is a hard no for me. It is unfortunate my experience was very different from others. If you're vegan and have to eat here, request more red sauce and opt out of oregano or a minimal sprinkling. Order ahead if you can, the wait is excessive and the owners do not stand by quality service. read more

Mama Bears is a Punta Banda institution. They have been around for many, many years. I recommend their pizza and cheesy bread. The cheesy bread is next level. If you are craving a classic all-American meal, this is the place to go. The service is good and friendly. They went above and beyond for our church and opened up for breakfast (not their normal hours of operation) and allowed us to hold a private prayer meeting for the men's group. I definitely do not recommend this place; They have very bad service and always give preference to their friends, tourists always leave them for the last. The waiting time is a lot and they serve you in a bad way, also the food does not have a good flavor, as if that were little at the time we were there we got sick from the stomach for several days. Absolutely adore Mama Bear's! You feel like family coming to eat here. Their Wild Pack Cracker pizza is an already vegan pizza on their menu loaded w fresh veggies and it's sooo good! My husband and I basically lived off of Mama Bear's when we first came to town. They've got free WiFi too which is helpful. Hot tip: waiting to order pizza a little later in the day allows their ovens to get to temperature which can make all the difference in the crispness of your pizza. Honestly, I didn't expect much from Mama Bear's. I went to couple other restaurants in the area, and they weren't the places I would come back. But Mama Bear's is completely different story. We got meat pizza (Meatasaurus!) and it was the perfect pizza, quality which you can expect in many prominent pizzerias in California. I don't have enough words to describe how good it is, but believe me, it was very good. They use good ingredients and make that pizza with big deal of professionalism. I didn't think I'd order pizza in Mexico (it's all about tacos when I'm there), but for sure I'll be back again and will try more from their menu. read more

Mama Bear is hard not to miss. Easy to get to and super relaxed calm vibe. NYCish style thin crust pizzas which are customizable. I was able to customize myself with a vegan pizza. They don't skip on the toppings. I believe they offer delivery but they have pick up available for sure. read more

Good place to get some burgers and pizza if you're in Cantú. The owners and staff are very friendly. The place is nice and bright. The food is good and tasty. We had a pepperoni and veggie pizza. The crust is thin and crispy and they gave us a choice between red sauce and olive oil for the base, which is great for people like me who suffer from heartburn. I think they have improved the dough because it used to be hard and tough when it cooled but now it's crispy but more like bread with a soft interior. I know they also have lots of burgers, sandwiches, and salads on their menu as well. So there are some good options for meat eaters and vegans alike. If you're in the mood for a bit of a gathering I understand they also have musical entertainment on Mondays. Although it may be everyday because when I was there they had a couple guitarists and that was on a Friday. All in all a pleasant experience in a family friendly atmosphere. read more

We are new residents to Punta Banda, and are completely wowed by this place. The first thing is the genuine warm welcome you receive when you step through the door. The chef should have his own tv show, his food is delicious and he takes so much pride in his presentation. The service is great and attentive, the staff magically appear at the right time and they don't leave you sitting staring at your empty plate once you finished. Mama Bear's is a treasure. The food is good. The ambience is very nice. You can have a quiet meal and keep to yourself or be a part of the jovial environment. Love this place! Staff is nice!!!! English speaking too for those who don't speak Spanish... safe! Heehee We live nearby and a couple of times needed food delivered (won't talk about burning my dinner and needing something right away... shhhh). Mama Bear's delivered on time and on order. Def the best pizza we have been able to find in Mexico and on the west coast! We are from a Pittsburgh and visit SAN Diego often but cannot find east coast pizza! Even beats any in San Diego! Excellent breakfasts and decent food all around at other times. But the breakfasts (Thur, Fri and Sat only) are awesome! In this part of Ensenada this must be one of nicest restaurants. It's clean, air conditioned with good service and excellent food. Only went here for lunch and intended to come back for a pizza dinner but unfortunately discovered they close fairly early so missed out. They speak great English and the food caters to tourists so if you are looking for authentic Mexican you should look elsewhere. Will definitely go back next time am there. read more
