My stepfather passed away on January 27, 2026, after residing at this facility from December 3, 2025. What my family experienced during that time has been deeply disturbing and traumatic. Issues we observed included concerns related to food quality, communication, and the overall treatment of residents--especially those with dementia or who cannot fully advocate for themselves. These are individuals who rely entirely on staff for safety and dignity. Since his passing, I have learned information through police involvement and from other families who had loved ones here. Hearing similar stories has been heartbreaking and alarming. If you are considering placing a loved one here and have the option to move them elsewhere, I urge you to do so before being reassured, dismissed, or gaslit into trusting care that may not be what it appears. Families are often told exactly what they want to hear. I was very involved and asked many questions while my stepfather was here. That should never make a family feel unwelcome--but it did. I hope more people speak up. Silence only allows harm to continue.

This place is the pitts and I don't receive the proper care that I deserve,the nurses come in and…read moredon't start caring for patients in till 3 hours later when they finish caring on like it's a bar,being all loud the only nurses that work are the ones that work M-F 9to5 because all the bosses are here and they don't want to be told on,after that time is when the low life's come in and you won't get the care that someone needs,I ask for medication and they tell me to wait 5 minutes and that turns out to be a hour when they decide to get off the phone or ipad and only when I'm down to my very last pill is when they ask the Doctor to sign the prescription,I been getting 10 minutes of physical therapy a day and the discharge person tells me I been getting 30 to 45 minutes a day,I'm using up all my physical therapy days and not getting any because what's going to happen is there going to suck all my days up and once I run out is when there going to discharge me and when I go where ever they send me to I will still be weak and fall and hurt myself and be right back to the Hospital and when she ask me after discharge did I have a place to go and I didn't she told me I would be discharged to a homeless shelter,the Hospital faxed over all the health care I needed and medication that I was on they could not care for me properly or have my medication ready the very first night I had to go to the ER because my pain and anxiety got to me and I ask the unit manager why did there take me in if they couldn't help me she said they never turn anyone away that's because they have bed's to fill and in need of body's,the food here is trash very little portion,cold,gross and uneatable and everyone gets a small lemonade at every meal no wonder people walk around here like death,the call button goes unanswered to where I have to get dressed to find my nurse just sitting there ignoring the panel that shows the room number and the amount of time that the patient was waiting and once I seen the red light going on at a patient room meaning they were in the bathroom most likely on the floor and I seen the time was 30 minutes and I brought it to the nurses attention they said they knew why don't you do something about it then,I spoke to the head of nursing,unit manager and even the director and was told that something would be done and not a thing was done that's because they cannot find any high quality people to work in a nursing home and they need every one they can get because they don't want anyone to quit over me,so if you need someone that needs nursing home care they will not get it here, anyone that needs help bathing, eating, cleaning them selves are in for a rude awakening.

The room is huge, specious and bright with large windows and multiple stations generously spaced. The physical therapists are A-1, and kind, patient and caring. I highly recommend this facility and I've been inside my share of them in the DMV.

Instead of acknowledging the situation, I was later told that their time was wasted, which was surprising given that I was early, punctual, and prepared. I understand that patient care comes first, but basic communication and respect for a candidate's time should still be maintained, especially in a leadership role. This experience reflects poor professionalism, lack of accountability, and disregard for others' time. I would not recommend applying here if you expect clear communication and respect. The staff strike a perfect balance of being on hand when she needs help while giving her space to live with as much independence as possible. We are super impressed with the caring professionalism of all the staff, medical, dining, activities, administrative, janitorial, you name it, they are terrific. The on-site physical therapy, hair salon, bistro, and movie theater are great resources that contribute to the high quality of life my mother is experiencing. The other residents are friendly and welcoming. My mom and I love spending time with this new group of friends. We often share a cup of coffee and conversation in the bistro. The Residences at Thomas Circle is wonderful in every way!

This place has no business caring for people! My husband and I were required to take a covid test when we arrived. We were both handed a box and told to read the instructions and take the test. The woman told us to go to the kiosk, register and take the test. Seeing so many people walking around and no dedicate area to take the test, I went back to the desk. We were told to stand in the entrance...yes, we were swabbing our nose as people were going in/out of the building. This was embarrassing as well as disgusting! We took my brothers clothes and other necessities on the 15th. As I entered the facility there were people loitering in the hallway. Staff were talking loud, joking and playing with each other. The smell of urine in this facility is horrendous! As my husband opened the closet to hang up my brother's clothing, a large bag fell out with someone's belongs. I checked the drawers and they too were full. Two days he was moved. We found his clothes in a plastic bag with whatever remains were on his food table. Hiss new underwear, socks, and deodorant were missing. VA transport picked up my brother for a doctor's appointment and when I met them at VA Hospital. I was told that my brother needed to be changed. Yes! They sent him out probably with the diaper he had on the night before! As we were talking to the doctor, he asked the doctor if someone could change him. The doctor looked at me, I was so embarrassed. The next day I found my brother in the bed with a sheet draped across him, and the door wide opened. He told me that she had been gone for a long time. I closed the door and stood there for about 10 minutes waiting for someone to come back. My brother had a stroke, and could not feed himself. They were putting his tray on the table and removing it, if he doesn't eat. VA was paying them for full-skilled care which means someone should have been feeding him. My brother's room was extremely hot. I was told that the heat had to be left on because the man in the room with my brother had breathing problems and need the heat to breathe. WTH! It's 100 degrees outside! My brother was sweating badly. I contacted Veterans Administration and told them of the situation, and they immediately started arrangements to get him moved. Just 2 weeks after my brother entered this facility, I was finally getting him out! He is in a beautiful, loving facility that is taking good care of him. One other thing, don't let the manicured lawn with the flowers, videos or pictures fool you. The inside is a dump full of some uncaring humans. I say some, because I know there are some people working there who truly care. You have been warned!

They don't clean or take care of call bells and the kitchen constantly misses food off of trays and sends up sandwiches like pb and jelly or turkey sandwiches as dinner with one piece of thin sandwich meat. They also label you as trouble when you make them do their job and they take your narcotics and give you water or other pills so they can take them. I had dilotted and it was a cleat solution that a nurse tried to pass water to me instead and I called her out on it and she stuttered saying she was going to bring me back my oriymedication because she knew I caught he and eventually got off and never came back . She kept on saying she was waiting for the medication to come in! They are lying, lazy, thieving, rachet, no good , just trying to get a check hoodrats that need to be shut down or all the staff needs to be replaced bunch of idiots and I suggest you find your loved ones a better place to go to.
