Knollwood - Salvia and dirt inside Bed plastic rails attached to the depth of bed

Knollwood is a dump,,,,we had our family member scheduled to be transferred from Sibley to…read moreKnollwood and was placed in a room that smelled of urine all over the bathroom floor and the walls were filthy dirty, the visitors chairs had embedded stains and small bugs everywhere. The entire bed, handles headboard, mattress had salvia embedded into the plastic We witnessed a patient in a wheelchair with bloody toes on both feet with a pair of dirty booties. He indicated that the nurse would not give him batteries for his hearing aid or stop the bleeding. Most importantly on the day of his arrival in order to receive care the social worker had our family to attest that Knollwood was his primary residence in order to receive payments from and to Medicare and Blue Cross. As of today it's been 5 months since leaving Knollwood continues to submit invoices for services to Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield and Knollwood continues to bill and is receiving payments. Knollwood presents itself as a prestigious rehabilitation facility but in fact patients that should be in memory care and acute long term care are put on the same floor as those who are short term rehabilitation care. How are they getting away with billing insurance companies and sending payments, both to a nonprofit and for profit company which all of Knollwood intake documents are specifically for Military Families Members While in Knollwood our family kept their outside doctors and upon leaving we were given a slip for his doctors to sign. We learned on the day we were leaving noticed that from our outside doctor evaluation reports were put on-transferred onto Knollwood treating doctors medical history and recorded as if Knollwood was the doctor treating our love one. As a caregiver having had to endure overwhelming pressure and with the staff of unqualified doctors and nurses, some that couldn't understand English did not give and correct dosages of medication and could not interpret the diagnosis therefore his medication prescribed was not given throughout the 21 days such that we received calls each morning to tell us that they were trying to kill him and because the three types of medications were to keep him alive. At the hands of Knollwood was something like a SYFI movie. The staffing communications were a joke and the conditions were horrific which caused a tremendous amount of anxiety.

The first time we worked with Jason was for a condo search in Washington, DC - as my wife and I were establishing our careers. He helped us find a true gem in the city that we loved and later oversaw the sale of the property when our lives took us to California. The condo sold before the first open house and at a great price! Years later, we've turned to Jason again to help us bring our family back to the East Coast and find a home to raise our young children in Maryland. We were initially nervous about conducting a housing search completely remote due to the pandemic, but we quickly felt at ease. Jason skillfully navigated us through the process. He was extremely proactive and responsive to our questions and took the time to understand what we were looking for - even when we weren't so sure ourselves! He patiently showed us a range of options, with many virtual tours, to help us understand what was out there to help focus our search. And when it came time to bid on a home, his knowledge about the market--and the pandemic's impact on housing--helped us make the winning offer. We're so excited to start this new chapter of our lives in a beautiful home that we are so proud of. We owe it to Jason and plan to work with him again for any new search. Though, it may be a while. We love our place! If you're looking for a real estate agent who will truly be a partner in the process, we highly recommend you contact Jason. We're glad we did!

MALTA HOUSE FOR SENIORS PART OF VICTORY HOUSING, INC…read more The best decision I ever made was to arrange admission for my elderly sister to Malta House in Hyattsville, Maryland. She was living in the family home in Takoma Park, MD and was no longer safe and competent to live alone. I told her that she "needed to retire". She accepted that but with great anxiety. I spoke to her primary physician and she recommended Malta House. I was impressed as soon as I walked into the building. It was a great surprise that the supervisor, Sister Jean, was a previous patient of mine. She was a person that I respected very much. The current supervisor, Elisabeth Orchard, has taken the previous high standards up several notches. Her leadership style includes teaching the staff to achieve the highest level of caring, respect and compassion for seniors and especially for the difficulties of life for those who are losing abilities that they previously had. She leads also by by knowing exactly how care is given at any time and thus closes the loop between her teaching and implementation of those ideals. My sister was comfortable almost immediately after admission. Malta House emphasizes community, caring, compassion, cleanliness, and peace of mind so that social life and activity can be maximized. It is safe, spacious, and the food is fabulous since the head of food services previously worked as a chef on cruise ships. Most of all, my sister has piece of mind for the rest of her life. The facilities are amazing that there is so much in a space that still is cozy and home like. They have a beauty salon, library, resident pantry, 2 sitting rooms, one with a fire place and the other with a large TV, a fitness program, a book club, arts, music, transportation and shared space for parties and family visits. All is on one level and is accessible. The studio apartments are also spacious, comfortable, with large window that looks out on gardens and a patio. There is 24/7 staff that live in the building and provide emergency care if needed. The residents wear a small comfortable alarm system so if they leave the premises inadvertently, an alarm goes to the staff. Doors are locked to get in but not to leave of course. There are religious services available. My sister and I were not raised Roman Catholic. We were Presbyterians. But, the feeling there is clearly acceptance and respect of our beliefs and people of any denomination can be very comfortable. Assisted Living is not cheap! The cost there is lower than many others and much is achieved for the money that is spent. It's a good deal! My sister is happy there and considers Malta House to be her home.
