The staff are attentive and caring and he still has more autonomy than he would in many other places. He did NOT want to go to a nursing home despite his increasing frailty . He requires assistance with all ADLs and medications. He is always well groomed, clean and in good spirits. All the staff address him by name and treat him with great respect and affection. His speech is difficult to understand because of strokes but they are uniformly patient and helpful. Three mornings a week we are together but I do stop in at other times and he is ALWAYS well cared for. Here is an opportunity for socialization that he didn't have at his independent facility in NJ. Meals are in the dining room; many different daily activities. He and I could not be happier with Grand Oaks And we feel that the VALUE is excellent. All of his needs were taken care of over the next few days, to help him get settled back in properly. This included meal prep, light cleaning, grocery shopping, and even driving him to an important medical appointment. A different worker came in for the second through fourth day. Both ladies were extremely competent, experienced, courteous, caring, and patient. My telephone interactions with the organization's management personnel and the workers' supervisor were also excellent. They were professional, courteous and readily available. I will gladly use Visiting Angels in the future, should the need arise.

The level of care and maintenance has deteriorated significantly, especially among the most vulnerable residents on the dementia floor. These residents need the most care, yet this is the floor with the least amount of consistent quality care and maintenance. They are clearly understaffed, and this has made it difficult for even the best workers to deliver appropriate levels of care consistently. It seems as if this once sought-after facility set itself up for failure. Families and, sadly, the vulnerable residents are paying the price daily. At this time, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. Visits from family members are easily scheduled. It's a good place.

The supervisor's recommendation was no visitors other than once a week from each daughter, as per my friend. My friend is 97 yeaars old. The elderly NEED verbal stimulation, not isolation. My friend, the elderly lady, does not like this place and has expressed it in no uncertain terms. My experience with ideas like this ends in the life of the elderly person in less than 8 weeks. My friend (the daughter) has placed her mother in a prison because caing for her mother is an inconvenience.

I felt that Mother's needs would be attended to very quickly unlike at the larger senior residences we visited. As it turned out, this was the best decision we could have made for Mother. The Tysons Woods facility always was clean. The residents were always dressed neatly and seemed happy. All the food was home cooked. The staff was attentive, cheerful, and genuinely concerned about the residents. I came to know that the senior staff members, Yesica, Rosario, Simona, and Andy, were professionals and followed State and Federal requirements to the letter, such as making sure we signed the appropriate documents and assuring that Mother received her prescribed medicines and treatments. There is a doctor on call. Mother was treated very well, and she was comfortable there. We could visit her whenever and as long as we wanted to. I unconditionally recommend Tysons Woods as a residence for aging seniors, especially those with Dementia or Alzheimer's disease. We were confident that Mother was well cared for by concerned and dedicated people and that Mother was happy there. Tysons Woods was Mother's residence for her last 9 years. Brian C.
