The staff are attentive and caring and he still has more autonomy than he would in many other places. He did NOT want to go to a nursing home despite his increasing frailty . He requires assistance with all ADLs and medications. He is always well groomed, clean and in good spirits. All the staff address him by name and treat him with great respect and affection. His speech is difficult to understand because of strokes but they are uniformly patient and helpful. Three mornings a week we are together but I do stop in at other times and he is ALWAYS well cared for. Here is an opportunity for socialization that he didn't have at his independent facility in NJ. Meals are in the dining room; many different daily activities. He and I could not be happier with Grand Oaks And we feel that the VALUE is excellent. The entire bed, handles headboard, mattress had salvia embedded into the plastic We witnessed a patient in a wheelchair with bloody toes on both feet with a pair of dirty booties. He indicated that the nurse would not give him batteries for his hearing aid or stop the bleeding. Most importantly on the day of his arrival in order to receive care the social worker had our family to attest that Knollwood was his primary residence in order to receive payments from and to Medicare and Blue Cross. As of today it's been 5 months since leaving Knollwood continues to submit invoices for services to Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield and Knollwood continues to bill and is receiving payments. Knollwood presents itself as a prestigious rehabilitation facility but in fact patients that should be in memory care and acute long term care are put on the same floor as those who are short term rehabilitation care. How are they getting away with billing insurance companies and sending payments, both to a nonprofit and for profit company which all of Knollwood intake documents are specifically for Military Families Members While in Knollwood our family kept their outside doctors and upon leaving we were given a slip for his doctors to sign. We learned on the day we were leaving noticed that from our outside doctor evaluation reports were put on-transferred onto Knollwood treating doctors medical history and recorded as if Knollwood was the doctor treating our love one. As a caregiver having had to endure overwhelming pressure and with the staff of unqualified doctors and nurses, some that couldn't understand English did not give and correct dosages of medication and could not interpret the diagnosis therefore his medication prescribed was not given throughout the 21 days such that we received calls each morning to tell us that they were trying to kill him and because the three types of medications were to keep him alive. At the hands of Knollwood was something like a SYFI movie. The staffing communications were a joke and the conditions were horrific which caused a tremendous amount of anxiety.

It seems…read morethat all of the improvements the Executive Director made over the last 2 years has been wasted because of workers who have terrible attitudes, who don't want to be there, and are simply not doing their jobs. The level of care and maintenance has deteriorated significantly, especially among the most vulnerable residents on the dementia floor. These residents need the most care, yet this is the floor with the least amount of consistent quality care and maintenance. They are clearly understaffed, and this has made it difficult for even the best workers to deliver appropriate levels of care consistently. It seems as if this once sought-after facility set itself up for failure. Families and, sadly, the vulnerable residents are paying the price daily. At this time, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

The staff strike a perfect balance of being on hand when she needs help while giving her space to live with as much independence as possible. We are super impressed with the caring professionalism of all the staff, medical, dining, activities, administrative, janitorial, you name it, they are terrific. The on-site physical therapy, hair salon, bistro, and movie theater are great resources that contribute to the high quality of life my mother is experiencing. The other residents are friendly and welcoming. My mom and I love spending time with this new group of friends. We often share a cup of coffee and conversation in the bistro. The Residences at Thomas Circle is wonderful in every way!

I arrived 15 minutes early for my scheduled 11:30 AM interview and waited without any communication. After reaching out, I was told the interviewer was 'on the way,' however, she never showed up. Instead of acknowledging the situation, I was later told that their time was wasted, which was surprising given that I was early, punctual, and prepared. I understand that patient care comes first, but basic communication and respect for a candidate's time should still be maintained, especially in a leadership role. This experience reflects poor professionalism, lack of accountability, and disregard for others' time. I would not recommend applying here if you expect clear communication and respect. "Do not apply here proof is in the pudding!!!" Look at the times as well as she say two minutes which led to 25-30 extra weight time and she's rude to me?? My uncle has dementia and we've had bad experiences before where people are mean to him, but the staff doesn't argue with him. They're respectful of who he is. We got a caregiver and she is on time, professional, and communicates well. She provides him with transportation and help him with his medications. Fumi in the office is wonderful. She does our schedule for transportation and helps with billing.

I arranged this service for an elderly cousin in DC. All of his needs were taken care of over the next few days, to help him get settled back in properly. This included meal prep, light cleaning, grocery shopping, and even driving him to an important medical appointment. A different worker came in for the second through fourth day. Both ladies were extremely competent, experienced, courteous, caring, and patient. My telephone interactions with the organization's management personnel and the workers' supervisor were also excellent. They were professional, courteous and readily available. I will gladly use Visiting Angels in the future, should the need arise.
