I brought my car in for a headlight replacement and brake inspection. To my surprise I was advised the bumper had to be removed to replace the headlights. Costing me more but I need 2 headlights. I gave the okay for the work (brakes and headlights) and for my car to stay overnight. I hadn't heard back in the afternoon of the next day. I called and found out the mechanics weren't given my okay to work on the repairs. It was a Friday afternoon and I was going to be without my car for the weekend. I will never return to this place. I mistakenly took 2 vehicles back to back, both were a disaster. The one car still isn't running properly, and has been sitting for nearly a year. It's going to the new garage when I get the funds. The other one had major fail after their repair, I had no options really since it had to be towed. I expected they would honor the repair, but no, they charged me another $ 1400 to fix their mistake. A few months later, it failed again. I took it to another garage who repaired it properly for $600. Had I taken to the second place the first time, I would have $2000 in my pocket to spend on tires & brakes. Don't risk it. I was recommended this place and the service was fast, friendly and expectations were set immediately. It's a decent size facility, all areas were clean and everyone was kind. Not a ton of parking for this location, but that should show that people are utilizing their business. I also overheard them talking to other customers, asking more questions, making sure they get the right info for diagnosing the problem and not making anyone feel different about not being knowledgeable about cars. I took my car in for repairs for the air conditioner. They put a new blower motor in but I was seeing water on the floor of the interior. Called and asked if blowing out the condensation line was a part of the service was assured it was. Took the car back. The following Monday was told that it was fixed and I was satisfied water continue to come onto the passenger floor of my car and I continue to hear a rattling when I made a sharp left turn. I chose not to take it back to Malless because they assured me that it was done. I ended up taking it to Midas on Michigan Road at 86th St. who actually blew compressed air into the condensation line recharge my system and my air conditioner is working fine. I feel like I paid a lot of money to Malless and didn't get full service. I don't think I'll ever take my car back. read more

I have multiple friends who were overcharged out the a** for their vehicle repair, this shop lied, deceived, etc. and PURPOSELY did not fix the main issue with their car just so they could overcharge them again to fix the real issue. They made up a bunch of other issues to overcharge to "fix". After going to another mechanic it was discovered that this shop overcharged them THREE TIMES ($800, $2000, $1600, etc) while ignoring manufacturer warranties, and causing more issues to keep people coming back to continue overcharging them. DO NOT GO HERE!! They WILL take all your money and will NOT fix any actual issues with your vehicle. read more

Disappointed with the service on my ACURA TL 2010 - B124 service! When inquired on phone gave a quote of $1600 for B124 service (includes oil change, timing belt, water pump and spark plugs change & valve adjustments). Booked appointment for 07/31. Now water pump is not changed but the charge is still the same? On every forum i googled, it is recommended to change the water pump for ACURA B124 service. read more

Newly moved to Indianapolis and wanted to try them out for a simple oil change and they delivered exactly as promised. I was really impressed by the cleanliness and service they exemplify when you walk in the door. They had a system setup for appointments which it seems that they prefer but will do walk-ins if they aren't extremely busy. This place seemed to be busy from the time they open until the time they close. They had designated social distancing practices in place for their shop which I was glad to see. Our cars are kind of old so that's why I rely on a mechanic who has become a good friend. That is no longer Malless only because we moved too far away to make using them practical. Malless was the first auto service repair business I trusted as a driver and we used them for our first 10 years in Indy from 93-2003-ish. But last week the battery on our 2006 Avalon died and an attempt to jump it only rendered the car operable in first gear. We happened to be nearby so I dropped it off overnight with a note. Of course I'm a know-it-all and offered up my own diagnosis of what I thought was wrong. I was convinced we fried the electrical system somehow because we tried to jump a battery that should have been replaced long ago. My wife was guessing it was going to be a $1500 repair. The next morning they called and said we did in fact need a new battery and oh yeah you just blew a couple of fuses, so the repair was a fraction of what we feared. I took my car there to have something checked out. On the phone, they quoted me a $500 estimate to have it fixed. After dropping it off, they called me the next day to say it was going to be closer to $800 to fix. Where did they get the $300 extra charges? He said it's just an estimate. When I found a place that could do it for the $500, I called them back to let them know that I would be taking it elsewhere to have it worked on. They said it would be a $49 fee for the diagnosis. After discussing my dissatisfaction with the price difference in quotes for the repair, they waived the $49 fee. They also apologized for any miscommunication. They were always professional and friendly ---I hoped it would've worked out. They offer a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty on parts and labor which is great. I just wish the quote would have been closer to the actual price. read more

We had our brakes done here less than a year ago and had to return due to a strange noise that was occurring. We returned a week after for them to inspect the car and reassure us that the brakes were fine and that is was normal for new brakes... We had a mechanic replace the front brake pads yesterday to find that the left wheels inner pad had been facing the wrong direction. Do not trust this location with your vehicle and certainly have a second inspection if you've had work done by them. read more

I had my car towed to the closest location, which was this place. The repairs were overpriced. Would not recommend.

Malless was highly recommended by many so when I had one of the struts on my car break, that's where I went. Not only did they repair the strut, but stated that there was a lot more things that needed done, such as break lines and various engine parts. I asked them to do a full check to make sure everything was in order. They said they did and the total bill ended up over $2k. Not even 6 months later, my brakes needed done. When I returned to Malless, not only did they state the brakes need done, but I needed new calipers, the serpentine belt was cracked, on and on...final estimate at over $1k. When I asked about the full check done earlier they said it wasn't done and that these were new issues. Long story short(er), I didn't need even half of what they said needed done to my car and the warnings of parts falling off my car were completely unfounded. Being a young-appearing lady, perhaps it was the thought of ignorance of car-related issues that made them think that I was gullible enough to not understand what they were saying. I was treated as if I didn't know anything and was given inaccurate warnings of mechanical failure. Being so highly recommended by so many, I am severely disappointed. read more

Recommend!!! There's no place like Malless..There's no place like Malless, (in my wizard of Oz voice) if you want honest diagnosis and quality workmanship. They work on most foreign and domestic autos. I took my vehicle in for a second opinion to look at my airmatic system. This system supplies air to level your car and soft close doors. The first place of business quoted me 1800. The actual fix was a 5 dollar part and 114 dollar labor charge along with the 99 dollar diagnostic check. The total a little over 200 dollars. This was the first time I used Malless in 15 years but it is the same professional service you would feel comfortable sending any novice that knows very little about automobiles. The service was quick. I made an appointment the previous day and dropped off at 7, the work was completed by 1 pm. Another plus is they explained what was wrong, what needed to be done and took the time to answer questions. I also had an audio error message and they were upfront that I would need to take back to the dealer due to technology not being available to quickly fix. I appreciate the honesty. The mechanic said he could fix it but it would be time consuming because it becomes a seek and find exercise. This will be my go to auto repair shop. I took my car in last week for computer issues. Despite not having an appointment, they got me in the same day. The owner even drove me back and forth from my apartment so I did not have to try and work in the loud shop. In July of 2014 I had my battery replaced at their shop. I went to OReilly 6 months later after my car was having some issues starting. The manager noticed that the cord was not tightened to the terminal. In fact, it came right off without the use of a wrench. After he fixed that, he determined through tests that it was most likely a starter issue. He recommended I go to Malless to have it looked at. I took it to Malless and not once did I ever receive an apology for not correctly replacing the battery. After the car was looked at, they explained the bill would be around $400 which was fine since I had no other option. After reviewing my invoice, I noticed that my starter was a re-manufactured starter that was billed over $110 more than what I could get the part for at Oreillys. I realize that this place has a good reputation and may be a little more expensive then other shops. However, a premium price deserves premium customer service and I did not receive that. I am not a car expert but I was weary that the disconnected battery cables may cause some tension on the starter. They assured me that this wasn't the case even though I found feedback online of this being feasible. In short, an apology or showing some genuine concern for their sub-par service would have probably been enough. It is also worth noting that I sent an email to management regarding this and nothing was done of it. I will not be heading back there. read more
