Unsafe and Dishonest -- I Left Feeling Deceived and Manipulated I took my car to Firestone in Greenwood (1295 US-31 N) after two trusted shops had diagnosed an outlet hose issue -- something covered under my Firestone warranty. That's the only reason I chose to go there instead of my usual mechanic. When Firestone looked at it, they claimed the problem wasn't the outlet hose at all -- it was the inlet hose, which is conveniently not covered by warranty. That immediately raised red flags. The outlet and inlet hoses are in completely different spots -- one's up, one's down -- it's not a small detail to get wrong. I asked the technician if I could record the issue for my own reference and clarity, and I was met with a sharp, condescending attitude. I came in alone. I fit the image of the "naive woman" they thought they could get over on -- and that's exactly how I was treated: dismissed, patronized, and pressured. When I asked how soon I could get my car back, the tech snapped at me, "So you're not getting any work done?" I calmly said no -- it had already been diagnosed as an outlet hose, and if it wasn't that, I'd go back to my regular shop. His whole energy changed -- cold, defensive, and rude. There was zero professionalism. Let me be clear -- the two shops I went to prior were honest, skilled, good-hearted people. The way Firestone handled me was the total opposite. I left without agreeing to the repair. But when I got home, my coolant reservoir was completely empty. I topped it off and monitored it. Before Firestone, I had to add coolant maybe every 3-4 days. But the next morning -- after only a 10 to 15-minute drive to work -- my entire hood was engulfed in smoke. I immediately pulled over and opened the hood. I recorded a video. What I saw was alarming: coolant was violently spitting from the inlet hose, and it was clearly not even connected properly. The wet interface was leaking profusely. My coolant tank was bone dry again, and I'm just thankful my car didn't overheat on the road. At this point, I felt deceived, gaslit, manipulated -- and like my vehicle had been tampered with to make the inlet hose appear to be the issue. It went from a manageable slow leak to a dangerous, dramatic failure within hours of Firestone touching it. I didn't pay a cent -- and never will. This wasn't just poor customer service. It was unsafe, unethical, and deeply disappointing. If you're a woman, document everything. If you rely on their warranty, get a second opinion. Purchased a car from ray skillman 8/2023 , a few weeks later the check engine light came on. Fast forward to December my car will not reverse, a mechanic attempted to manually reverse to no avail. It was the transmission according to Ray Skillman,my car had to get towed. I was without my vehicle from December- February 2024 . Here we are March 2024 my vehicles transmission is messing up again. They're being rude, avoiding me and not giving me updates on my vehicle. I can't get anyone to return my call to give me an update. I came back at 4:30. when I went inside, they couldn't find my keys and didn't know if my truck had been done. they finally find my keys and say "we haven't got to it yet, but will do it now" ...and I see an employee run around the side of the building to get inside my truck. I asked how much longer it would be and was told 45 minutes - 1 hour. This review is about a situation I watched unfold inside the store while waiting for my vehicle at approximately 1:15pm Monday afternoon. A woman came into the store with a check engine light on and was really concerned about it. She politely asked the salesman(Gerald)at the counter to check the code for her. He informed her he has no diagnostic tech working and he cannot help her. She then asked for it to be checked the next day and he said no again. Then she asks if she can schedule an appointment to which he replies "my tech won't be back until next week sometime". The salesman did absolutely nothing in the way of helping this woman. No recommendations to nearby shops or even to their other store that is 10 minutes away. No "my apologies mam, I don't have someone to do that here but let me help you figure out your next step". Literally zero effort or care. As a manager, I would be infuriated to see my employees treat potential customers this way. I change my tires in houston firestone 2 times but I really disapointed about customer service, employee attitude and firestone waste my time alot. First time, I change my tire at firestone in HWY 249 and they lose my tire key that one car just get one thing like this. So I have to bring my car to body shop for broking it. And customer service here really really bad. I called to store and ask I will took my car late 5-10 minutes because i'm in traffic if you cant waiting for me I will come back tomorrow, the guys told me ok we can waiting for you. But he kept calling for me 2 minutes for one time make me angry. Totally, I'm there early but his face like I please for him. Secound time, this is today I come back to firestone but the different location on FM1960 but the same shit come back. They told me my tires will take as long as 1 hours so I drop my car there and came back 1:30' my car still on parking lot. And they told me my car will take 1 more hours for change just 4 tires. Not all chain retail locations are the same, right? Experiences may vary, and so on. This location is one of the best ones I have been to. The store manager- Tony Solano- and his team do a fantastic job of providing professional service in a very timely fashion. These types of places tend to see spikes in business at obvious times of the week and year, and if happen to be in the queue during one of these times they will always be upfront about your time expectation and stay in touch until the job is done. Firestone in general does a good job of managing process and this location executes that consistently. I have to recommend it for avoiding overpriced dealers, and unreliable shade tree shops. This location must have changed ownership or employees are writing the reviews. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. Yes they have convenient hours and yes they always seem busy, but their integrity is in the toilet. I took my car there this past weekend as it was smoking and I knew the problem. I told them I didn't want the whole works, as I was going to purchase a new car. They tried to get me to spend 1500 dollars on a car with 222000 miles on it, no I'm not a dumb female. Then the 2nd fix I asked them to do, from my research and family friend mechanic, they estimated the fix at "no less than 400 dollars," their words not mine. The fix would also make sure I could never fix the air conditioner, because they were going to remove several parts. I disagreed with this diagnosis and called another mechanic. When I came in to retrieve my car, they were extremely rude, told me I was playing with fire and almost threw my keys at me... Two hours later a family friend fixed it for 40, that is right 40. I've taken my Nissan Rogue to Firestone since I purchased it. Before that, I had them do all work I had for my Mazda 3. I've been using them for years. Today, I went for an oil change, tire rotation/balance and the courtesy check which included my air filter. They had it done in record time. They marked that my windshield was cracked when it's not but I ignored that. I then LITERALLY pull off the lot and my check engine light comes on. I turn around and they use the code reader. They said my o2 sensor went out but it's nothing they did. "But, hey, lets make you an appointment to get that fixed." I understand that things happen but this happened while it was in their shop. No offer to remedy or even go half to make it right. Looks like I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Extremely frustrating and disappointing. read more

Great place! Cars are not my forte, nor my husband's...so...when we take our car in to be serviced we need honest answers. We usually visit our car dealership who sold our vehicles to us, but lately we have been feeling a little worked over. So, as to get a second opinion we visited Firestone. And boy, what a breath of fresh air! Not only did they give us the honest answer we wanted to hear about our tires, they also found other problems our dealership overlooked. They did not laugh or get annoyed with our constant questions about tire pressure and alignment nor did they make us feel like we were stupid. Impressed with the work. Was not impressed with the billing part mostly, however. I had to get a new radiator and thermostat on my Oldsmobile 88. It broke down on the side of the road, and I needed to have it towed somewhere quickly. Talked to a young lady (who, by the way, does not work there anymore right after this happened) who quoted me a price, but it was very high. So she and the manager was able to give me some discount. Okay, appreciated that. So I was given the after tax price. I figured the before tax price myself, as well as asked her for it to make sure it matched. It was off by a couple of dollars. Again okay. Then when I went in to pay, the price was fifteen dollars difference! Of course she did not come in until later that day, so I spoke with the manager. After subsequent discussions, he graciously gave me a free oil change which was probably priced more than the difference. But I let him know that my point was, when someone asks for a pre-tax price, be exact and not just bs a price. Also, he kept telling me that he was standing there when she gave me the price on the phone, but also kept telling me that he had to check with her to find out what she said. I said, if you were standing right there, then why do you have to check with her? So my take: Expensive prices...good work...tried to reconcile for blunder but be aware of what the price is when quoted and what you actually pay. If different, push the issue. EXCELLENT service and communication! Everyone was courteous and the overall feeling was that they like their job and they like helping people. This seems to be hard to find these days. They were on point with service and they were very competitive with their pricing. I do not live in this area, but I will be back when work takes me here. I loved that there are also many locations to visit while your car is being serviced. The mall, the gym, multiple restaurants, and a great reflexology foot massage within walking distance. It is hard for a female to be treated fairly sometimes, but I never once felt like they were condescending or patronizing. Great job, Firestone staff! read more

I wanted to share out great this store is! I have been coming here for years and they always do a great job. It's the only place I am comfortable going as a single woman. They have never tried to push unnecessary replacement parts as other companies do. This past week they went above and beyond. I had a tire pressure light and low air in a tire. It was just before closing time when I called to see if they would look at it. There was no hesitation and they encouraged me to come on in. They not only checked the air in each tire and made sure the tire pressure was safe, they did a test drive to be sure it was driving ok and to check out the warning lights. They could have easily done the minimal and said I'm sorry you will need to come back in the morning but they assured me it was no problem. I've been a customer of Firestone for 8 years and the greenwood location specifically for over 4 years. But that's changing. After numerous issues that were poorly addressed if at all, it's time to find a new oil change/maintenance place. Most issues are small but add up to a lot of frustration. Most recently finding out they've decided to change to doing full synthetic oil changes without my request or permission and without any need, costing me an additional $10-15/oil change in addition to consistently turning my radio up to an unnecessary volume and leaving it there to blast on when I turn on my car. But what makes these issues a real deal breaker is the fact that we asked to speak to a manager and were told one would call us back later the same day or next day (this was on Sunday) and we still haven't heard from anyone (it's Thursday). In a time where everything is increasingly impersonal, customer service should still be an expected part of any service interaction. read more
