Perhaps I caught him at a bad time in life, but my take away is that Kevin absolutely has a very deep technical background, but perhaps very underdeveloped interpersonal skills. In an industry marked by interesting personalities and attitudes, my interactions with him set a benchmark. He is indeed very responsive, but refused to talk by phone forcing a constant back and forth over email to my chagrin. Over email he constantly touted his technical background, inquiring about my career and experience almost as a challenge of some sort, and kept bringing up his own boat for sale in the most random manner. Ultimately when I tried to return the conversation to the pertinent and ask questions about the work at hand he became extremely obnoxious. If you've worked in technical fields you have probably experienced situations where you hid the engineers from the customer, and this reminded me of why that happens at times. I'm thankful that I found other local resources that were more than knowledgeable enough but with more communication and service skills, and have already completed several larger jobs on my boat without Mallard. I admire Kevin's deep technical skillset and hope that he can develop his interpersonal skills more. read more

Kevin was a very good with his service. The time line wasn't as fast as I would like it sometimes, but he was good with the job part. He did an excellent job installing my radar and a few other things on my boat. He was professional and always got back to me at the end of the day with questions I had. He made recommendations about the boat that I appreciated. I hired him for specific jobs but noticed other things and either fixed them (if simple) or made suggestions on how to resolve it. I appreciate that very much. At the end of the project, he gave me an excellent write up of what was done and 'other things that I may want to consider doing' and why. Kevin and Mallard Marine are the best. Having used other companies I have some experience hiring and working with marine repair and maintenance companies in Baltimore and Annapolis. My highest priorities were installing a new battery charger and bringing my electrical system up to date on my 40 year old, 39 foot sailboat. The excellent quality work was completed in a very reasonable timeframe and in a professional manner. He also found and corrected the wiring installation for a new water pump that I had just had done in the fall by a local company with a good reputation. read more

This service is operated by a Kevin Landenheim who is totally unreliable and has a tendency to harass customers when things become unpredictable. We had discussed an installation of a depth finder for my boat that did not go well. Initially Kevin was to start the work during the winter months however he did not keep his commitment. When I was unable to get the boat pulled in the early spring, he became agitated and would not accommodate the time frame that I gave him for when the boat would be on land. He was paid for the time that it took to diagnose the issue and now he has been harassing me with a bill for parts and I have indicated that I no longer want him to do the work. read more

Kevin is a straight up, honest, hard-working, diligent engineer. I was so grateful when he answered our call for help when most big marina types could be bothered to return my phone call. We spoke and corresponded by email. He looked at our pictures and made some calls on our behalf simply to help us out even though we were leaving the area before we could arrange to meet up. Kevin's thoughtful email correspondence, and follow-up is one of a kind. He installed a raw-water pump for me, and helped me troubleshoot a number of issues ranging from measuring for proper sails, to help with winterizing. read more

Kevin came out quickly but did not fix the problem. He charged me 90 minutes plus $10 parking (he lives four blocks away!) to clean a few contacts, inspect a thru-hull and break a 12V fitting. I later fixed the problem in about 90 minutes with no special tools, so I was not impressed at his lack of progress. read more

Mr. Mallard is the answer as a mobile Marine Mechanic. I had to go through another to realize how good Kevin is comparatively. From his constant communication, to quality work and fair prices he is my first choice. He even sends pictures of his work as he is working at times. His Truck looks like a mobile shop, and he suggests maintenance you can do for yourself. I will use him for all my boats.
