He cleaned off the glue and sewed the isinglass onto the canvas, as shown in pic below. It looks perfect and will last unlike the glue! In an industry marked by interesting personalities and attitudes, my interactions with him set a benchmark. He is indeed very responsive, but refused to talk by phone forcing a constant back and forth over email to my chagrin. Over email he constantly touted his technical background, inquiring about my career and experience almost as a challenge of some sort, and kept bringing up his own boat for sale in the most random manner. Ultimately when I tried to return the conversation to the pertinent and ask questions about the work at hand he became extremely obnoxious. If you've worked in technical fields you have probably experienced situations where you hid the engineers from the customer, and this reminded me of why that happens at times. I'm thankful that I found other local resources that were more than knowledgeable enough but with more communication and service skills, and have already completed several larger jobs on my boat without Mallard. I admire Kevin's deep technical skillset and hope that he can develop his interpersonal skills more.

Their team is very knowledgeable and skilled. They take great pride in doing it right. The marina had some places that needed attention, and they are getting it. The docks and seawall were re-worked over the past few years. Floating docks installed for some parts. The fuel dock was getting replaced last year. The shower house was renovated. We've been up and down the ICW several times now. Stayed at all sorts of marinas: corporate chain, town docks, fish camps,... This is a nice family owned and operated facility that really works hard to satisfy the boaters.

I used Chesapeake Dockside Services in Annapolis, Maryland for many years for maintenance on my…read moreboat. I had a great relationship with Chris (the owner) and Rob over the years. For most of that time, service was solid -- they generally showed up on time, were helpful, and I paid every bill promptly. We had a good relationship for a long time. Over the last year or two, though, things slipped noticeably. They started showing up haphazardly, often not on the days they promised, and it would take a week to a few weeks to get any email confirmation or follow-up. Communication became very spotty. That came to a head when I was selling my boat and needed a tachometer issue fixed -- the engine was over-revving. I contacted Chris directly, explained it was time-sensitive because the boat was being surveyed for sale, and was told I'd be added to the list and taken care of quickly. Instead, I waited five weeks with no update, emailed twice with no response, and finally had to call the office myself to ask what the delay was. That's when Austin told me Chris and Rob were both out on vacation at the same time, leaving him as the only guy handling everything -- with zero communication to me beforehand that there'd be any delay. I was told a tech would come out that Monday. Austin confirmed he'd be there. He never showed. When I followed up Thursday, he said he'd just gotten busy and never made it out -- his response was basically, "good luck, I hope it turns out okay for you." The pre-sale survey happened before the tachometer was ever fixed. As a direct result, I had to lower the overall price of the boat and create a $2,000 seller's allowance during negotiations. I lost several thousand dollars because they didn't show up and fix the problem like they said they would. Despite a decade of loyalty and on-time payments, the lack of communication and missed commitments during a time-sensitive repair left me feeling like I was no priority whatsoever, and that our long-standing relationship didn't matter at all. I felt betrayed, and this growing pattern of unprofessionalism and lack of caring has reached a point where I would not recommend them, nor would I ever use their services again if I get another boat. You're paying a premium and getting low-budget service.
