So disappointed. I first must state that I am a long time patient of this location. I have also be happy about the knowledge of the doctors always took time to explain everything. But. My grievances is with the employee and area that provide the glasses. They where so unprofessional interacting with me. The problem i encountered was not getting the service I deserves wants I told them I was unable to paid the fee they charge a fee to teach or help me place my contacts into my eye. Wants i told them that i can't afford to pay $136 to put on contacts the into my eyes I was then left alone with no recourse. I left there without my contacts and nasty attitude from the employee. If I could give no stars, I would. This office is so conveniently placed in a community that needs a place like this, especially the aging population-- but their staff is completely unprofessional and not helpful. Their around the world calls and transfers are absolutely ridiculous, and you can get transferred 5 times and never have your issue fixed. When calling to request the glasses prescription that I had checked and confirmed a MONTH AGO, the young women at the front desk told me that they "don't just give out the prescriptions at the appointment," even though that is literally the point of the appointment...Why would I not be provided the prescription the appointment was made for?? Not only did they give me attitude, they gave me no real resolution. They apparently cannot email the prescriptions because "it doesn't work"-- so try to get it fixed? This is supposed to be a fast-paced office where getting prescriptions to patients should be a smooth operation. When I then tried requesting it to be faxed over to my own office, they kept saying it wasn't working...my office gets about 50 faxes in a day, and I actually got 2 prior to the phone call with them, and magically this one isn't coming through? The problem isn't my fax machine. They then told me I will just have to come in and get it. IF THEY HAD GIVEN ME THE RX WHEN I WAS THERE FOR MY APPOINTMENT A MONTH AGO, WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO WASTE NOT ONLY THEIR TIME, BUT MINE. It must be a surprise to THEM at the front desk, but their patients also have jobs in VERY similar offices, and we have things to do all day long. I do not have the TIME to sit and tell them how to do the things they are supposed to be doing to ensure their work is done properly. I called this office 5 times in a day, between 9 am - 3:30 pm. The front desk girls had the audacity to tell ME that I have to call the optometrist to tell her to fax my rx. Is that not the job of the admin of the office? Why do I have to do that, when I would have to GO THROUGH THE FRONT DESK BEFORE SPEAKING TO THE OPTOMETRIST ANYWAYS???  I just gave up and cancelled all future appointments with them. I've been with them for 12 years and this was my last try with them. Their attitudes and lack of an OKAY-ISH system are bad. Never again. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. Do not expect reasonable wait times nor fast processing for glasses or contacts. I placed my order on may 7th no update or courtesy call. I have had to call 5+ times with no resolution still. Definitely going to a different ophthalmology center who care about their patients more than money. This is probably the worst medical facility I have ever been to. First, the front desk staff are always idle and talk amongst each other and lollygag instead of talking to the patients. The reason I know this? I waited all day to see the eye doctor. If you try to speak to them while they are communicating with each other, they look at you as if you just committed a crime. They also like to walk back and forth, and up and down the stairs. (No medical charts of the sort, inhand). When you ask how long you have to wait, they try to reassure you by telling you that you are next (in actuality that is far from the truth). I have been here a few times and have never seen the Doctor the facility was named after, but instead the only other eye doctor there (Dr. Shapiro). He is very rude and does not understand that people do not know him, therefore there is no trust yet shines the light into people's eyeballs without communicating properly. He then gets mad at you for being in pain instead of not keeping your eye open. I would not even give this place a star if I could. I don't know why it takes them a long time for them to call you in to see the doctor. When I came in, there were no other patients but me and I had an appointment when the office opened but for some reason, it took hours for me to see the doctor. I didn't have a problem with the doctor. The one I saw was very polite, made jokes and I saw him for like 15-20 mins but the wait and front desk staff was not very pleasant. Some of the workers looked like they weren't doing anything and they didn't really speak nicely and seemed rude. I know that sometimes people have a bad day but if you're working in an office environment, you need to control yourself. read more

I am beyond upset regarding how IMPOSSIBLE it is to get an appointment at this location even if you have an eye infection. Apparently appointments have to be scheduled 2 months out, so somehow patients are supposed to magically know that they will have an infection 2 months into the future?? So unacceptable that I could not be squeezed in after calling so many times for 2 weeks just trying to make a Saturday appointment (which is my only availability due to work commitments) I told them I'm in pain and was shown no compassion. My last appointment for this same issue was handled in 5 minutes so there is no reason that a patient who is in pain and trying to make an appointment should be turned away. I called the forest hills location which was also booked with surgical procedures, but the receptionist showed compassion and after 15 minutes of conversation, managed to move things around and squeeze me in. Now that is professional, compassionate and what I would expect from a doctor's office. So disgusted with the whole process and conversation and attitude I received from this Hollis location. The wait time here is always unforgivably long and the receptionist staff consistently unfriendly. So done with this place. The Doctors themselves are great, but honestly the stressful process of getting to them just isn't worth it. read more

My mom and I had appointments today. It was heavily raining outside, 2 staffs in the front desk told my 64 yrs old mother that she has to wait outside in the rain. She can't wait inside the office. I walked out. I don't know if it's the training from management or the staff are just plain rude/unprofessional. Not sure about my parents, I for sure NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS PLACE. Dr.Malik only entertains high-ticket patients who are looking for cataract surgery only(All locations). Even after the surgery, Dr.Malik will not follow up with his patients, he says" my team will take care of you". The front desk staff is rude and unprofessional, looks like they have a lot of work pressure and they are underpaid. No one smiles and works like a demon is top over their head all time which is non-other than CHAD a.k.a Manager. There is no point in making an appointment in this place because eventually no matter what you still have to wait a minimum of 1 - 1.5 hours for your turn. I had this issue many times and I am more than happy not to return to this horrible S H I T *Y place. They think they are the only ones in this market, and customers, oops patients do not have an option to go somewhere else. Save your valuable time and money. ZERO STARS. My mother has been a patient for several years now. The staff has changed and the receptionists are extremely rude and laugh at my mother's concerns. It is now the SECOND time my mom shows up promptly for her appointment & they claim to have called her weeks before to cancel her appointment. Not once has she received a phone call or voicemail. As a medical assistant & future RN I have worked in the medical field for 7+ years and know plenty about patient care and customer service nonetheless. Laughing at a patients concerns is highly UNPROFESSIONAL and does not look good at all. This place needs new staff and staff that knows what they are doing. read more

The only good part about this office is the receptionist. She was very nice and helpful. The service is the worst ive ever expreienced. Ive never spent 3 hours in the waiting room of any eye doctor's office. Its cold inside. The staffing acts as if it doesnt care about the customer at all. I wouldnt recommend using this office unless you have no other options. The wait alone is unbearable, no TV but they do have music. The wait time for this place is insane!!!! I would think that with multiple complaints about the same thing, something would be done to change it. I understand that doctors are just like us and so are the staff (all human beings) not robots and for that I am very understanding because I myself work with customers and patients on a regular basis and I try and encourage patience ....However, It's ridiculous that you are given an appointment, ours was 12:45 PM and my grandma was not seen until 3:05 PM.. Clearly, this office does not seem understaffed because there was at least 4 staff members working the reception. My interaction with them were very minimal and I had A good interaction with the male staff when I inquired about when my grandma would be seen.. He told me she was coming up next and within 10 minutes she was seen. I am not the only person who visited this place today that were complaining. I wonder what changes are being implemented to better accommodate patients ?? Why book so many patients if the wait time is not accomodating, especially if you are also trying to accommodate emergency walk-ins and giving patients a set appointment time? I think this speaks to the level of management skills. Is this really about caring for the patients because honestly I feel that this office is overbooked and I feel that it is intentionally done because that equates  to billing the most from insurance companies. read more

If I can give this place zero stars I would. Every time I come to this place your waiting from 3-4 hours just to be seen. I always complain about the wait time (trust me, everyone complains because patients talk with each other) and the staff always says "few people ahead of you". They over book patients. I had friends and family members come here before and they all chose to go somewhere else. Last time I came for my contacts appointment , they had booked the wrong appointment. When I did book the appointment I specifically told the front staff girl that I needed it for my contacts. She told me that she was going to book me the earliest they have for that day since she knew I was complaining about the wait time. When I arrived, I legit waited almost 3 hours to be seen to sit down at the doctors seat; for him to not even once look and me; looks at my chart; 5 mins later turns around and tell me "your good to go, see you in a six months". I spoke to front staff and they told me that they only book appointments for contacts only on Tuesdays! (TBH, I think they booked me for that appointment just bc before I booked the contact appointment, one of their machines was down so they couldn't get good view of my eye. I heard a male staff on the phone talking about it & once I seen the doctor, he mentioned the same thing to me about the pics of my eyes since they were having technical problems). I was in here for an emergency situation and I am from out of town. This was the closest office that had an opthamologist on staff on a Friday. I would like to say the front desk receptionist Latoya was very helpful and friendly. We came in to a packed waiting area. I'm not sure if these were appointments or walk ins. We arrived at 11 am and did not leave until 4:30 pm. I will say once we got to the doctor, I was only in there 15 minutes, the job was done and he did a great job. It was not Dr. Malik but another doc on staff. There is seriously something wrong with how they manage the office. There were idle staff standing around the entire time. The spanish guy was the only one I saw working and he took the initial eye pictures. Several people came in while we waited. However, I can't imagine having to wait over 1 hour, much less 3 or 4 for a routine check up! There is no TV, no magazines, and no kids area. From the reviews, it appears long wait times is a reoccuring experience at this establishment. How about some customer service? Why doesn't the office manager suggest some changes? She should've asked people if they would like to reschedule their appointment unless they wanted to wait. Go get some water or refreshments and snacks for the people that have waited hours and hours, missing lunch and very frustrated! I guess there is a big difference in customer service in the north than the south because where I come from, this would have been a very different experience! If I hadn't have been in a bind, I would've taken my money elsewhere! I hate to see this since it appears to be minority owned and I am big on supporting minorities. Horrible horrible horrible! 1st my appointment lasted literally 5 minutes with dr singh. I went there for blurry vision in the right eye. The prescription I was given was wrong because they made the lens for the left eye stronger than the right eye and that just makes my problem a million times worse. After going there to get it fixed they said sorry he's booked and cannot see you today. After putting up a fight they said fine give him about 10 minutes and you can see the dr. I waited there like 30 minutes and left... They are unprofessional and customer service is horrible. My best advice is don't go there. My biggest regret was not reading reviews before going here, apparently there are tons of horrible reviews about this place. I think they over book their customers to an extreme level which causes them to decline in quality service. One of the receptionist had a terrible attitude because I wanted to look at the glasses before they called me. Now I wasted money in copay and still half blind searching for better eye care! This practice deserves "zero" star. Unfortunately there is no option for that. I went there with my mom, who waited more than 3 hours to be seen. Patients who even came after her got to see the doctor before she got to see him. Then of course he spent literally 5 min. It's been 2 weeks already but she never got her 2 prescriptions. I called several times for her medications, but the front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional. The first day when I called, they could not even find my mom in their system. Finally when they found her, they said that the prescriptions will be send by the end of the day. Then they said oh the doctor is not in the office. To make long story short, after waiting a week for the prescriptions, I had no choice but complaining to her insurance. Our experience was just terrible. Period. Last October I lost most of my remaining functional vision out of my right eye due to a category 5 cataract. With corrective lenses, I couldn't see the large E on the eye chart. I visited Dr. Malik's office with the recommendation of my retinal surgeon, one of the best in the country. When I visited Dr. Malik, I didn't have much expectations and thought I wouldn't be able to see much or that I would regain partial vision, but with stronger prescription than the bottom of the soda bottle lens I already used for my -9 (or about 20/200) prescription. As a result of the cataract surgery, I was given new lens inside my eye that restored my vision to a full 20/20! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would regain my vision, less alone restore my vision completely! Now I don't wear glasses at all, except for over the counter readers +2.5! Dr. Malik and his staff of Drs performed a miracle as far as I'm concerned. Now I see things other people take for granted, like star clusters, craters on the moon, details on the chandeliers in Grand Central Station, and a whole world of detail. read more
