Prices are fair and guess what-- "no special price" if you pay cash or credit cards which is what I have unfortunately encountered at other medical offices. I was never treated by Dr. Rothstein himself, but saw two "associates" to test if I had glaucoma (I didn't). However, be prepared to wait 3+ hours . . . and without an apology from the ophthalmologist I saw. Don't schedule anything else the day of your appointment. In fact, pack a lunch--or dinner. Found Doctor Rothstein on Yelp and all the positive reviews. I was not disappointed. Had to get a my annual eye checkup due to age and increase in glucose levels. Making the appointment was a breeze. The staff was very nice and friendly. Even though there was a bit of a wait, it's understandable in a popular doctor's office. Once I got to see the doctor, he was very nice and very thorough. Dr. Robert Rothstein, my Ophthalmologist, is a very knowledgeable, qualified medical professional who cares for his patients' eye health. He monitors my eye nerves and enable me visual contact to see the world. All exams: Threshold Visual Fields; GDX - Nerve Fiber Analysis; OCT; and Dilated Fundus Exam are performed in his office. After interpreting all exam reports he diagnosis properly and see all the definitive underwriting details. As a patient I am in good hands under his medical care for my eyes. Caring for your eyes is vital for good health as you only have one pair of eyes. Yes, my wait is 4.5 hours long as Dr. Robert Rothstein is a Neuro-Ophthalmologist, an eye specialist and performs surgery. After each exam you wait for the result before moving forward with the next exam and finally seeing him to interpret the results. I was referred to Dr. Rothstein following an abnormal routine eye exam. This was my first time being examined by an eye doctor and I was naturally scared. The front desk staff were super friendly and they walked me through the entire registration process. ( The waiting area is fully covid-19 proofed; signs separating chairs for social distancing, Sanitizing stations throughout and masks upon request). I first met Dr. Rothstein back in 2006 when I had an emergency and was looking for an eye Doctor. I called about 10 Doctors and not 1 would give me the time of day. Then I found Doctor Rothstein , he saw me 2 hours after I made my appointment , did all of the necessary tests and the diagnosis was Retina Detachment in the right eye. Immediately he called Dr. Wald who is a Retina Specialist and requested that he sees me ASAP Twenty minutes later after a short walk I was in Doctor Wald's office and the Retina Detachment was confirmed . It was a Tuesday and a couple of hours later I lost complete vision in my eye and was operated on Thursday morning. Once you have a complete detachment you don't have much time and permanent blindness is at risk. I can truly say Dr. Rothstein saved me from blindness in my right eye and I am forever grateful. Few months later Dr. Rothstein did a Cataract surgery on the same eye and my vision returned to normal and continued to see him for regular check ups through out the years. About a month ago I went back to Dr. Rothstein for a check up on my left and I had a cataract . I was scheduled for surgery and now my vision in the left eye is 20/20. Dr Rothstein is an exceptional ophthalmologist. I have had an issue with my eye that has caused me to see an ophthalmologist once or twice a year for the last 55 years. I have been lucky enough to have had three (3) excellent ophthalmologists for most of that time. I certainly saw a few in between that made clear the difference between an ordinary eye doctor and a top rate one. For the last 10 + years, I have been fortunate to be treated by Dr. Rothstein, a caring and detail oriented Doctor whose knowledge and experience makes him an superb practitioner. I am so comfortable with the care I receive that despite having moved to White Plains, I still travel to Forest Hills for my appointments. If there's a better, more conscientious and skilled ophthalmologist in this part of Queens, I've yet to find one. Dr. Rothstein's and his associate's attention to the needs of his patients--not just their ocular conditions and illnesses, infections, cataracts, onset of glaucoma--is detailed and personalized. He even has invested in special equipment and obtains medications for them at no additional charge. He is genuinely concerned, and for lack of a better term his "chair-side manner" is excellent. On every visit, he and his assistants provide thorough examinations and detailed explanations in layman's terms which any patient can understand, along with recommendations as to how the patient him- or her-self may assist in the treatment with daily eye-care to prevent conditions from becoming worse. In my case, my eyesight actually seems to have improved and thus far no surgery has been necessary. I have examinations every two or three months and both the doctor and I are very pleased with my current condition. Dr. Rothstein's practice is extremely busy, but he and his associate and their assistants devote more than sufficient time to each and every patient. It would be a challenge, even to a playwright-lyricist such as I, to recommend any more strongly that those who suffer vision problems seek his care immediately. read more

Dr. Rothstein is a specialist in neurology of the eye , so he and his staff are extremely thorough and diligent with giving you every possible test to diagnose your problems as specifically as possible. He also listens to all of your problems and takes meticulous notes. On a personal note, he has helped me tremendously to accomplish my life's goal to get into the Peace Corps. I have the highest praise for Dr. Robert Rothstein at Eyenamics. I had an eye twitch that would not go away, and once neurological causes were ruled out I was told the only treatment was Botox injections to stop the muscle contractions. I was nervous about having to get this procedure, but Dr. Rothstein thoroughly answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns. Thanks to him, not only the twitch but my eye droop was also remedied, giving me confidence in my appearance once again and relieving the bothersome twitch. I will have to go back for treatment if/when it returns, but knowing I'm in Dr. Rothstein's hands makes that prospect less daunting. I'm also quite pleased with the treatment provided by his wife, Dr. Kim Staiman Rothstein. They seem to work in tandem, which is nice as you are able to receive the knowledge of two professionals. My only point of dissatisfaction is that both doctors have taken/made phone calls during my consultations. I'd prefer that they deal with personal matters on their own time and focus on the patient. Dr. Robert Rothstein is my hero. He saved my eye sight. The first time when i went in, he took me in after 7pm (after hours) becasue i had to see the glaucoma specialist urgently. I was very dizzy, nauseous and in pain .. my eye pressure was over 60.(20 should be the highest) . Dr. Rothstein rcvd a call from my Opthalmologist and waited for me.. at the time i was starting at a new job as a leagal assistant, dr. Rothstein needed me to come back the next morning to check on my eye but i told Dr. R tht i wasnt going to be able to make it because I was afraid of losing my job when I just started. Dr. Rothstein said this is your eye sight! Ur vision we r tlking about! He had me call my supervisor.on the speaker and spoke to her,, explained the situation. When my supervisor was trying not to listen D.r rothstein fought for me.. he wrote a legit dr's letter. I kept my job till today,, continued my treatment with Dr.. Rothstein. Then i also got introduced to his co-worker Dr. Kim Staiman where they both have a great work environment and teamwork. When Dr. Rothstein is out to OR, Dr. Staiman sees me in the office and she is on top.of my treatment. They have great communication btw the 2 drs so there have never been confusion or mistreatment. Dr. Rothstein is very knowledgeable in the field of ophthalmology and uses the most high tech systems to examine people with visual impairment and provides best treatment solutions. He's direct, gentle and accommodating with patients needs. His office is very clean, comfortable and don't mind if I have to wait little extra. Dr. Rothstein helped with with an alternative to using eye drops for glaucoma, he performed laser surgery on both my eyes 8 years ago and still holding up with my quarterly follow up visits. I am a glaucoma patient with surgery done on my left eye valve inserted, and two prior surgeries on my right eye one for a valve and the other Cataracs. with my eye pressure hovering around 25 to 30 on max medication Dr. Rothstein and Dr. Kim advise me that I'm too young to be on max medication concerned about how the side effects might affect me in the long run. And after only a few weeks I've seen Dr. Rothstein was straightforward and firm on his decision that I needed surgery. I was reluctant because I had two Prior surgeries on my right eye and was nervous about losing my vision entirely. Dr.Rothstein reassured me that he has my back I'm happy to say , it's been nearly 2 months and my pressure is hovering around 7 to 10 with minimal eyedrops and eye medication. I highly recommend Dr. Rothstein and Dr.kim They are very knowledgeable, Polite, and extremely Thorough . The office has a nice cozy comfortable setting with a staff that is professional, nice, and respectful. I have been very pleased with Dr. Robert Rothstein since I first became his patient in October. Dr. Rothstein took the time to get to know me as a patient and remembered our previous conversations when I came in for my follow up appointment. It was very comforting knowing how much he truly cares about his patients. I was having an issue with my eye and Dr. Rothstein was able to get me into his office the next day to be seen even with his already booked solid schedule. He is very detail-oriented and has tremendous knowledge when it comes to his work. He made sure to sit down with my parents and me for over ample time to diligently do over the symptoms I had been experiencing and the corresponding diagnosis. Dr. Rothestein was able to get me an appointment to have an MRI done the following day. I had my MRI done at noon on a Friday while Dr. Rothestein was in surgery all day. He was kind enough to call me that night after he had been in surgeries all day to go over my test results and diagnosis over the phone. He recommended I see a neurologist and set up an emergency appointment for the following Monday. I am extremely thankful for the care that I have received from Dr. Rothstein and I highly recommend him to any person in the Queens area looking for an ophthalmologist. read more

Dr. Rothstein has been treating and following me for over 10 years now, and he is the best eye doctor out there. He goes through all the details with the patients explaining the situation and plan for action. He actually cares about the patient's life and how medical conditions could be affecting them. Dr. Rothstein is an Neuro-ophthalmologist, a specialist and does perform surgery. Therefore expect specialist waiting time to see him (eg 3 hours is common & they tell you this when you call). Ive been a patient of his for 2 years now and thought I'd address some of the things said in the reviews. Any review prior to March 2014 is talking about his old office space. The new space is much nicer! Dr. Rothstein does take some getting used to. He's quirky but very nice. During my first visit I wasn't sure but he did come highly recommended by another specialist. Also my Optometrist (the doctor where I get my glasses/contacts from) highly recommended him. He's not a warm and fuzzy doctor but he does insist on having each test run and even does eye dilation (and you're always dilated) & pressure tests himself. He also really did go out of his way, several times during my diagnosis he went beyond what I'd expect, including calling me at night after hours with test results I was worried about rather than make me wait until an appointment a month later or giving me a stock - if you don't hear it's good news. He also doesn't give an answer unless he's confident in what he's saying. That took a bit to get used to but in the end I appreciated it. He really spent time trying to diagnosis me correctly than just assuming. As funny as this sounds, he actually sits down and speaks with you. I've never felt rushed to get out or not had time to get all my questions asked. He is a surgeon so expect appointments to be periodically rescheduled if there's an emergency. I've had many appointments with him and never once have I seen any doctor other than him. I'm not exactly sure what the situation was with one reviewer who said he never saw Dr Rothstein. Maybe he wasn't a referral needing an Neuro-ophthalmologist? Dr. Rothstein specializes in the nerves rather than the retina. Dr. Rothstein's wife is also in practice at this location but I've never met her. She's also an eye doctor but I'm not sure which type.
