Overbooking your clients is NOT a way to attract patients! It's clearly a deterrent. This place does not book their patients according to a systematic timeframe which would permit patients waiting in a waiting room to be seen by a physician in a reasonable amount. Very disappointing. The wait time is ridiculous. My mother had an 11am appointment. She was seen an hour later (just to get the eye pressure etc.) then another 45 minutes to see a doctor. In total, we arrived at 10:40am it is now 1:24 and still waiting.... It is dreadful when you "go wait it waiting room" be prepared to sit for another hour. They have to manage their appointments better. Every time you have an appointment there's a different doctor. No consistency with one provider. Oh and don't forget if their on lunch, please add another hour to your time. read more

I had a problem with front with the staff. She decided it was ok to hide my receipt from me. She got testy because I wasn't filling out the paperwork. But she is an angel compared to the doc. He asked inappropriate questions and made unnecessary procedures. These people don't know how to interact with human beings. My husband made an appointment for us at the same time. The appointment time was at 11:45. We arrived five minutes early and we did not walk out after services were rendered until 3:15. I mentioned to my husband the sign on the wall that asks that everyone be patient as they sometimes have to prioritize appointments. I knew this meant we would be waiting awhile but we did not anticipate waiting for hours. They need to rearrange their current set up. We were seen INITIALLY after 1:30 for a 11:45 appointment. We were taken back, our eyes were tested, then we had to return to the waiting area to see the doctor. We sat there for another hour before being called back to see the doctor. The doctor was super nice, and she was thorough (don't remember her name), but before she finished our exams she had to dilate our pupils, and ask us to sit AGAIN in the waiting room. We were called back, the back of our eyes checked and finally were able to check out. The process was entirely exhausting, and the wait times astronomical. Food is not allowed in the waiting area but there were people that came in before us that left and returned with bags of food to eat. There were people on their phones canceling other appointments for that day because of how slow this business operated. The office is clean, and the lobby area is bright. I saw some comments referencing how impolite staff was. The employees in the reception area do not speak to you unless you walk up directly to them. Also I wear glasses and have for some time. This was the first time I left the office without a script so I could order glasses should I chose to do so. Of course I was disoriented due to my vision being impaired with dilated pupils. I plan to request a script, because there is no way we would return to this business, unless they pick up the pace. I do not recommend their services currently. read more

This place is a nightmare. Their intake sheet inserts in the section where the patient agrees to be financially responsible that Malik Eye Care can use the patient's image and medical records for their personal and professional use. This is unethical to the extent that they are inserting this language in a document that has nothing to do with receiving medical treatment. In other words, they are using their position as medical providers to extract personal medical information from their patients to use for non-medical reasons. Another complaint is that we waited almost two hours to be seen. Notably, nobody else was being seen and we were all waiting. I asked whether or not the optometrist was even there because nobody was being seen and we were just waiting. The waiting area does not respect social distancing. The chairs are right next to each other. The room is stuffy and this makes wearing a mask a sweaty uncomfortable experience. Going to this place felt like what you see in the movies in terms of the absolute worst stereotype of a poorly run and inconsiderate medical office. In any case, I chose to leave instead of hitting the 2-hour mark (was just shy of 2-hours of waiting) because I assume that this doctor is as incompetent as his office is run. All I can say is stay away if you value your time and (potentially) your health (due to the lack of COVID social distancing policy recommending 6-feet of separation and open doors/windows). I can't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Was surprised to see such bad ratings for this place, especially this location. My family and I have been coming here for years and the staff has been nothing but kind to us. Dr. Kabiri is the best and always makes sure you walk out with what you need. I have super sensitive eyes and he takes the time to recommend different brands of contact lenses that will be best suited for me. This location is much bigger than the other one I have also been to. They also have a larger selection of frames. It is always clean and properly kept. The only negative thing that reflects the four stars I am giving this place is the wait time. It can be VERY long some days. Can't necessarily compare the wait time with other optometrist offices since I haven't been to any other one but I can speak to how wonderful the staff and doctor are. If you're coming here as a first time patient, I recommend it! read more

They give you tests that you don't need and bill you years later for it. I go as recommended every year and yet I still had a balance from 2017, although my insurance has no recall of this. If I could give this place a -1,000 I would. For starters, the front desk staff is EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional and neither of them I have interacted with in my few times there deserve to be working in healthcare with ANY type of patients. Now, the reason I had to visit this office multiple times is because I initially went in as a self-pay patient (because ya know, COVID-19) so anyway I paid $350 to be seen. I arrived with extreme amounts of pain in my eye and blurred vision. What I didn't know at the time was that I had a pretty big cut on the surface of my cornea likely caused by a particle getting in my eye and then extensive rubbing afterwards. However, I was seen by a young Asian practitioner (Unsure of her name) and she misdiagnosed me with a viral infection, gave me drops and told me my pain would continue "for a while." Happy that I would soon be back to normal after dealing with the pain for about 3 days already, I purchased the 2 prescriptions (again out of pocket) and went home. The first set of drops made my face feel like it was on FIRE but I was told to use both 3x a day, which I did. Again, hopeful that relief would soon come. About a day and a half later after following instructions with said drops my face was entirely swollen, my eye was swollen shut and the pain was even more extreme than before. I decided to go to a different doctor to get another opinion and I am SO glad I did. Once I arrived there they gave me numbing drops which gave me my first sigh of relief in about a week. The doctor looked in my eye confused at what he saw and my previous diagnosis. Everything about the diagnosis I received at Dr. Maliks office was inconsistent with my symptoms, especially the pain! I was then sent to the Emergency Room where I was taken care of tremendously by a team of 5 eye specialists who all confirmed that my initial diagnosis was way off. They also gave me a gel for my eye that provided me with my first night of restful sleep in what felt like forever. So now, if you've been counting I've now come out of pocket for: myfirst visit, highly expensive prescriptions, second opinion elsewhere and now ER visit (and about 3-4 follow up visits at a great eye facility following my ER visit) I called the office of Dr. Malik after I began feeling a little better to explain what happened and the office manager told me to come in with my discharge papers from the ER that showed the correct diagnosis and they would issue me a refund. I went in that following Wednesday. Not only did the practitioner who misdiagnosed me lack the professional courtesy and sympathy to come out and at least see if I was feeling better, but like mentioned earlier the staff was EXTREMELY rude and I was told to come back the next day. The practitioner refused to leave her office. Already physically and mentally drained from the whole ordeal I agreed and went in the next day where I would meet the WONDERFULLY rude, disruptive, obnoxious, chauvinist Dr. Malik whom after I explained my misdiagnosis proceeded to tell me that he can't possibly afford to give me a refund because he pays 180,000 a year for his practitioner (who was wrong btw) and that medicine is just "not an exact science" so really it's on me because I should've came back to them instead of going somewhere else. He also told me to get out of his office and began to call the cops on me when I began to explain that his office manager OFFERED to issue me a refund, I never asked. That was not my intention when I called but after thinking it over I thought it was the least they could do. It's not that whatever was subscribed simply didn't work but it gave me an adverse reaction and made me WORSE causing me to rack up a hefty medical bill for a problem that was both easy to treat and diagnose. Had I have gone elsewhere, and not to Dr. Malik's office i would've started feeling better in the next 24-48 hours after my visit and wouldn't have had to make about 5-6 trips back and fourth to doctors. This is by far one of the worst offices I have ever been to. I highly recommend going ANYWHERE else. read more

I don't know why the reviews for this place are so low. I came here after being told by another ophthalmologist that I had an alarming condition developing in relation to my corneas. It was my first time and I had to wait but not as long as what other reviews claim. The assistants who did my preliminary checks were very polite. I have to say the Dr. Osherov is the best ophthalmologist I have ever seen. When I told him about my reason for visiting he listened to me and asked a few questions before examining my eyes. He actually showed me the pictures and scans that were taken and pointed out to me what was happening in my eyes. He also reassured me that I had nothing to be worried about considering I could take steps to correct it. He also gave me a few free samples of lubricant drops for my dry eyes. Dr. Osherov knows what he's talking about and he cares about his patients Will definitely visit this location again! read more

Had to leave a review because I initially came across this page and was skeptical about coming in. I came in today for regular eye check up and was seen by Dr.Osherov. I was greeted by the front desk in which all the girls were really nice and attentive. I waited a reasonable time and Dr.Osherov was very thorough and explained me everything that I needed to know. Also, the clinic is very clean and neat! Which is a plus in my book. I will definitely come back! I stopped in for the DMV vision test and was told that they will not give one without getting a full medical examination. Staff was unprofessional and it seemed like a unnecessary requirement . Not very accommodating and will not be going there again. I hadn't had an eye exam in a very long time! I'm so glad that I decided to see Dr. Malik. He was thorough, professional and had the patience to answer all of my questions in layman's terms. He is one of the most knowledgeable medical professionals I have ever encountered. The eye exam was pretty thorough. Several tests were done, and the medical assistant performing the tests put me at ease and helped me through the tests. In the end, I got great pair of glasses that really made a big difference. They have a pretty nice selection of frames with plenty of styles to choose from. Overall, I am quite happy with the service that I received, and I highly recommend. read more

At Malik Eyecare in Forest Hills, NY, David Lopez so clearly explained my condition and what the glasses did to correct my condition. I felt it was the clearest I ever had it explained to me. On the broad spectrum of the vision chart it was reassuring to know my eyesight was at the end of "not so bad." Also David pointed out different ways to protect my sight. The location is new, nice and bright. Equipment is high tech. Staff was ok. Opthamologist was very friendly. The down side is the wait time. I was in the office for TWO HOURS. Which is completely unacceptable because I had an appointment. They obviously overbook appointments. Also, the store only has high priced name brand frames. I didnt see any budget friendly frames. And the selections are basic. Nothing special. I would not purchase frames from them because the choices are limited, I am not concerned with name brands and my budget will not allow it. If there was an option for no stars, I would preferably do that because they're not even worth 1 star. Poor customer service in person and on the phone. To book an appointment with be prepared to be wait two months far out. Also, wait on the phone for quite some time, because they don't even consider to say hello, they straight put you on hold. Also, keep you on hold for a period of long time that they literally forget. So prepare to call at least three times to get yourself somewhere with them. Once I was on my way to the appt and I ended up with a flat tire. I called them in advance to let them know I have no means of getting to them in time and I have to figure out my situation. Their response was, since I confirmed the appt yesterday, I will be charged a no show fee of $50 regardless (mind you I called in advance). On arrival of your appointment, be sure to wait at least two hours for the actual eye doctor to see you for just only 10 mins literally. read more

My Parents and my wife an I, as well, have been going to the Hollis location for a number of years. The Hollis Location is close to home, clean, has high tech equipment, and is also an 'in Network provider' within my insurance. It is time now for our annual eye exam and I dread making this appointment mainly because of the long 'wait time', and I'm contemplating looking again at my Insurance Network for another provider for my family. Last October I lost most of my remaining functional vision out of my right eye due to a category 5 cataract. With corrective lenses, I couldn't see the large E on the eye chart. I visited Dr. Malik's office with the recommendation of my retinal surgeon, one of the best in the country. When I visited Dr. Malik, I didn't have much expectations and thought I wouldn't be able to see much or that I would regain partial vision, but with stronger prescription than the bottom of the soda bottle lens I already used for my -9 (or about 20/200) prescription. As a result of the cataract surgery, I was given new lens inside my eye that restored my vision to a full 20/20! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would regain my vision, less alone restore my vision completely! Now I don't wear glasses at all, except for over the counter readers +2.5! Dr. Malik and his staff of Drs performed a miracle as far as I'm concerned. Now I see things other people take for granted, like star clusters, craters on the moon, details on the chandeliers in Grand Central Station, and a whole world of detail. read more

I don't recommend this ophthalmologist office. Please save yourself the trip and go elsewhere. The manager is not only unprofessional but very incoherent!!!! First off, when i wanted to order my glasses he wanted me to pay the full amount upfront. I asked him if i could pay half now and the rest when the lenses were ready since i was ordering for myself and my wife but he insisted on us paying the full amount at once (money hungry much) these people only care about your money and not about patients needs. Plus every question i'd ask him he wouldn't clearly answer them and he would just repeat the same thing over and over with his broken english, and to top it off he had this arrogance and attitude as if he was always right. He would get bothered if you asked him a lot of questions. (Maybe because he didn't know how to answer them). My wife and i decided to go ahead with processing the orders for both of us, big mistake, they took about 3 weeks and a half for us to receive them when the manager told us it would only take one week and on top of that, the prescription on my lenses were wrong!!!!!! when i informed him about this all he said was "the orders must've gotten mixed up". The worst doctors office i have ever been too. The wait is disgusting and horrible. I had an appointment at 12pm and got there at that time and put 2 hrs on the meter. They called me an hour later to get the pictures of my eyes taken. I waited another hour for nothing and had to go back to the meter. I put 1 hr because i didnt think it would take so long. SPENT ANOTHER WHOLE HOUR WAITING FOR THEM TO CALL ME AND THEY NEVER DID. Asked how much longer it would take because my son was hungry, they said i can go get him something to eat because there was a family ahead of me. I come back 30 mins later, put another hour in the meter, waited 30 mins for them to call me into the room, the other 30 was spent waiting in the room for the actual doctor to come see me and he never did. So i had to go back again to the meter to put more time....almost 4 hours spent waiting for nothing. Walked out of there and never going back. What's the point of having an appointment if I'm going to wait 4 hours anyway??!. Treating me like a walk in. Im very upset read more

doctor malik is a LIAR!!!! stay away from this con artist. even though most of his reviews were bad I went for a cataract surgery appointment ONLY because the office is so close to me. front desk staff was okay even if on the first visit I had to make them acknowledge my presence after a while of standing right in front of them. dr. Malik's assistant gave my eye exams on the first visit and was courteous, efficient and sincere. next visit I saw dr. Malik- he seemed very impatient and stressed out, not someone that I would feel comfortable doing surgery on my eyes. made an appointment for a future date but went and got two second opinions anyway-wasn't feeling good about him. glad I did-I'm canceling with dr.malik first thing in the morning. both other optomologists informed me that I CAN have lasik done after cataract surgery, just have to wait a minimum of six months. dr. malik insisted that once I have just cataract surgery I cant have laser done afterwards, so he insisted that I get the cataract surgery AND spend another $1700 per eye to have laser done at the same time. what a money hungry creep!!!! probably's ripped off a lot of people that weren't born here like I am so they don't know enough to get a second opinion and ask questions. read more
