Wet fried rice with tiny pieces of frozen ingredients. Can't believe people sell this.
    Philip L.

Ordered a Nasi Goreng. Very disappointed. Wet rice with clumps. A few pieces of frozen shrimp, 3 to 4 bits of cheapo corn, and a few green beans. The egg yolk was even broken and all spilled out. And that was it but nothing else! I am not kidding. Can you believe it? Well... it came with a takeout box. Lol. Basically, 90% of the box was brown-colored wet rice with some spice. The rest was merely frozen @#$%. Did not finish it and simply put it into the garbage bin. Cannot believe a place like this is still in business at the FMP in Markham. Reviews mentioned that fried chicken was good. Guess what, they have already stopped making it for a long time, as the cashier said. Totally not worth it. At one point, I thought I had gone to the wrong place from the reviews. The huge gap between my first-hand experience and those good reviews is just unbelievable. Some people like it but it's a big no to me. Perhaps, the owner is no longer running this place or sold it out already. You can get much better food in the same food court for a way better experience you will appreciate it. Other places have way more heart and passion to cook their food for eaters. Definitely not going back, not even once. Avoid this place at all costs.

    Curry laksa
    Jeff K.

Good but unfortunately not great. So close to being great with the only knocks bring that the curry laksa doesn't live up to the hype and that you need to wait at least 20-30 min for your order. Firstly the food. We got curry laksa and the nasi goreng with egg. Curry laksa was good but not great. The broth was the biggest let down as it was flavourful but needed some salt and more richness. It tasted like it was watered down from what it should be. Also be aware that it's a bit spicier than most places. Still bearable but close to the edge for me personally. I also wanted more coconut flavour or more milkiness from the broth. Next the toppings were just standard tofu puffs, random pieces of pork (not full pieces), fish cake and bean sprouts. Would have liked more bean sprouts for texture but it's fine I guess. The two kinds of noodles were ok too, generic supermarket noodles imo. 3.5/5 for me but one thing that could probably raise it up to 4/5 is if they give you a proper soup spoon because I couldn't get the soup to noodles ratio right for every bite! Nasi goreng was solid. Great wok hei, good flavours and healthy portion. It is a bit one dimensional so get something else to break it up like some veggies. That being said I'm still giving it 5/5. Ok on to service. I came here once before this and was really hungry and couldn't wait the 20 min it would take the chef to fry up the nasi goreng. It was a bit strange because there was no one in the food court and no orders in front of us (maybe there was a lot of Uber eats orders??). The second time I came during peak dinner time and it was packed but we were prepared to wait the 30 min. Totally recommend this place but don't get what they're known for haha. Get the stuff that requires chef to stir fry because it's GOOD.

I really wanted to like this place more. I seen this place for many years and finally decided to try it over the weekend. I got the Chicken Pad Thai to go for $10 before tax and didn't like it that much. I'm thinking they didn't use much tamarind and it was over cooked. Definitely not as good compare to other restaurants like PAI and Sabai Sabai. Good value but I wouldn't order this again. Maybe I'll try them again in a few years and get something different. Cash only

    Char kway teow
    Rachel L.

This looked like a family run take out place. I was excited to try their char kway teow, along with all the other popular Malay dishes. I ordered the char kway teow and unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment. It tasted more of like chow hor fun. It wasn't super flavourful and the fish cakes/shrimp they used weren't good. It wasn't awful but I don't think I would order this here again.

    Curly laksa to go
    Jason T.

Tried their curry laksa and was delighted by the broth. It's creamy, spicy, and the flavor tasted right. I wish they offered other variations, such as to use ingredients like chicken dark meat. As is, it has dried pieces of meat, some fish paste slices, and tofu. It's a promising food court stall and I'll be back to try other items.

The food is reasonably authentic and cheap. Hokkien Noodles is $7.50. Fast service. You can have unlimited hot tea.

    Basil thai rice

The char kway teow is good with darker sauce like the stuff closer to Singapore, and thai basil rice flavorful and mild heat. The chicken rice is very close to authentic with oil rice and garlic ginger chili sauce and thick soy sauce.

    Curry laksa!
    Tania L.

Ordered a curry laksa and LOVED it. I haven't much experience with laksa (I've ordered it perhaps two or three times), but Malay Thai's version was the best thus far. It was super flavourful, very creamy, and very rich. There was also a variety of toppings - though the chicken was cut into super small and broken pieces. There was the wonderful aroma of coconut milk and lemon grass! One thing I found slightly peculiar was that my laksa noodles had a mix of egg noodles, as well as thin rice noodles. I personally preferred the thin rice noodles, but it was an interesting mix of textures! I will definitely come again next time, to try their nasi lemak!

    Hainan chicken rice
    Christine Q.

I came here for lunch on a Friday with a colleague, and we both got the Hainan chicken rice. The total for both of us was $18, which is not bad for chicken, rice, soup, and tea. Even with the somewhat decent price, I was not super impressed, and thus it gets a mediocre rating. Service: like many food courts, it was no nonsense and efficient. I did not even attempt to pay with credit card, opting for cash instead. As it was peak lunch hour, the food court was packed. It took a really long time to get our food. The chicken itself was decent. It was very tender and juicy, however was severely lacking in salt. Unfortunately we were not given the garlic ginger sauce to accompany the chicken. That would have saved the meal. The rice, which is supposed to be made with the chicken oils and garlic, did not taste of chicken or garlic. In fact, it was rather dry and grainy - so much so that I had to dip it in soup to save it. The soup, which is supposed to taste strongly of chicken, felt more like the soup that comes with chicken instant ramen. It relied too heavily on the other ingredients. While I was not impressed by this dish, I'm willing to explore the menu further.

    Curry Laksa $9
    Andy O.

This review is for their curry laksa. If their is one thing common among *real* Malaysian mom and pop shops are that they don't skimp on ingredients and that it taste good. The same thing is true with Malay Thai. Their version of laksa is more on shrimpy and spicy side compared to One2. I prefer more coconut flavour but I still enjoyed their version. Pork, fish cake, tofu are in abundance and they used thin and thick noodles which gives the laksa a nice texture. The price is on the pricier side of $9 including tax but overall I will comeback here if a crave a shrimpy version of laksa or if my other favourite store is closed for the week.

    Basil Fried Rice
    Shajitha R.

Ordered the basil fried rice today and it was mediocre but the mee goreng is really worth a try! Tough to find this place while it's surrounded by similar stores in a food court but glad I checked it out!

Who would have thought a little food stall inside First Markham Place would have serve such tasty food??!! Thanks for fellow yelpers! If not, I would not have know what I been missing... The prices here are so reasonable. Most of them comes with a free drink. I was there on a weekday! Yes this place is just as busy on a weekday lunch hour. I order the Curry Laksa extra spicy ($6.25). I have to tell you I waited over 15 minutes for my order. There were all these people that placed their food order before me. The kitchen prepared everything fresh. Nothing are pre made under heated lamps. And the wait is so worth it! The soup based has the perfect spiciness, the flavour so rich, so intense.. so much flavour! Ok the coconut milk is fattening but it is calories/fat that worth it! The free drink is a cold sweetened barley drink. OK, it sounded little weird but trust me it tasted good! Really light and a good compliment to spicy food! And it suppose to be healthy... And I know it is not lady like to stuff your face in a soup bowl in a busy food court in a popular Chinese mall where you might bump into old flames, but the food makes it all worthwhile! I can't wait to go back to try other things on the menu.. The Penang Pawn noodles extra spicy looks interesting!! They accepts Cash only!

    Curry Laksa $7.50.
    Jennifer P.

So 2 years later, I finally came back to give this place a second chance. I would bump the rating up half a star, but since Yelp doesn't allow half stars, I will leave the rating unchanged. I had the Curry Laksa $7.50. It had fried tofu (which I gave away to my dining companions who ate at different vendors in the food court), fried fish paste slices (which tasted mostly like flour) and chicken (small broken up pieces). It didn't have any shrimp :( It had egg noodles and vermicelli. There were also a lot of bean sprouts. The broth smelled and tasted strongly of coconut milk, lemongrass and curry. The broth was too rich and creamy for my taste though. Service was nice and quick. You get free hot tea with your meal. The tea was not bitter this time. I didn't have the choice of barley water this time :( Overall, the food was ok. I think the Laksa was better than the Pad Thai I had last time, but I didn't feel like it was anything special.

Only HALF the portion of delicious laksa
