I've always love their 5 spice chicken and order extra Tzatziki sauce (sooooo ono). I've lost a few very stubborn lbs using this meal plan! I also tried their green juices which were delicious too. Thanks to fresh Box, I am more confident and EXCITED about cooking in the kitchen. They make it simple by providing 99% of the ingredients you need (You usually need to provide your own oil, salt, and pepper, which is totally doable). The box comes with 3 different meals. There are 2 diff size boxes (box that feeds 2 ppl/meal or box that feeds 4 ppl/meal). I can't emphasize enough how SIMPLE and FUN it was to make all three dishes. We had a chicken and roasted asparagus pasta, furikake salmon with soba and kale chips, and Italian wedding soup. Each meal comes with easy, comprehensive instructions and can take from 1-2hrs to make (depending how slow you cut your vegetables lol). I will definitely be purchasing another box in the future. Thank you fresh BOX for getting me out of my comfort zone and sparking joy in cooking :)

It turned what would of been a crappy experience into a good experience as a first time customer with Kau Kau box. I like that they called me personally and genuinely cared about my satisfaction. Anyways, the box was actually a gift to my father while I am currently in the mainland, and he noted that box was big portions and the food was excellent. They pre-cook the dishes and seal them in air-tight bags. You simply heat the bags in boiling water OR in the microwave. He went with microwaving it and said the chicken was super moist and flavorful. I was worried that microwaving the dishes would make it too dry (my dad is very picky) but he loved it. On top of the pre-cooked meals, the box came with some fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, and fresh bread as well. He enjoyed it enough for me to get him a weekly subscription. I love that I can support my dad from afar by sending him meals AND support my hometown with Kau Kau Box since they are 100% locally owned and operated.

I ordered their Thanksgiving holiday box, and it exceeded my expectations! What you get from Kau Kau Box is a box (obvi) of chef-prepared meals, plus local eggs, fish, and produce. Vegetarian meals are available, too. There are pickups available for Tuesdays and Saturdays, each with different menus. You can purchase a subscription to save $$ or just purchase individual boxes as you need them. It has been on my radar screen for a while now, but I finally took the plunge, and I'm hooked. Pickup at Ala Moana was super easy. I drove up, gave them my name, opened my trunk, and was back on the road within seconds. The pickup location is off Atkinson, and it's easiest if you drive down Atkinson toward Ala Moana Blvd - the entrance is on your right, with Kau Kau Box signs to guide you. If you turn up Atkinson from Ala Moana, you have to make an awkward series of turns to get there. Delivery is also available for an additional fee. For Thanksgiving, the box $134 + tax) included 4 slices of roast turkey breast, 4 giant bone-in pork chops, mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, a savory bread pudding with butternut squash and manchego cheese - an elevated stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry-orange sauce, spiced apple chutney, challah bread, jus for the pork, pumpkin crunch, a chunk of nairagi fish, 2 heads of lettuce, freshly-made croutons, cherry tomatoes, 2 avocados, 2 papaya, a butternut squash, and a dozen medium eggs. We are a family of 3 (2 adults, one 6yo), and this box has fed us for days. We got Thanksgiving dinner and Friday lunch out of the turkey, bread pudding, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, and challah (I added some brussels sprouts). We got 2 dinners from the pork chops and salad/croutons (I added some mac and cheese). A couple breakfasts of avocado toast and papaya from the leftover challah and avocados (um, and also the pumpkin crunch). I still have the butternut squash to cook, and I stashed the fish in the freezer for later because I knew we'd already have days of food with everything else. When I opened the box, it seemed like way more than I was expecting. Everything comes in containers or vacuum-sealed packages for reheating. There are also instructions on reheating everything, so if you're not sure what should go together, you have help. Everything was labeled with best-by dates for both the fridge and the freezer. The menu and instructions also included a recipe for deviled eggs. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared, even the things I just microwaved. I LOVE to cook, and I cook at home most everyday, but this pandemic has just burned me out. I've been trying to limit my trips out and about, and planning meals 2-3 weeks in advance is a lot of mental labor. So I really appreciate meals that I don't have to think really hard about - maybe just a side here and there - and can be heated without hours of prepwork in the kitchen. Especially helpful for long days. And, maybe most importantly, it's all been delicious.

After scouring the internet for ideas, I stumbled upon Go Ramble's grocery delivery service and knew immediately this was going to be an awesome way to make their vacation that much more relaxing. The ordering process through the website was a breeze. There are great package options, however I opted for a customized list so I could add some goodies that would spoil my parents. My list included the usual eggs, milk, bagels, etc, with the addition of special items such as wine, cheese, and rotisserie chicken. I uploaded my list and waited. About 8 hours later I got a call from Diana with a friendly ALOHA! to start this terrific experience. It was pretty obvious Diana's labor is one of love. Not only did she clarify the items on my list, she suggested to add certain Hawaii staples that I wouldn't have even thought of! For the curious folks, those items include Macadamia Nut Chocolates, fresh fruit, and Tuna Poke salad that she guaranteed my parents would die for. I gave Diana the details of my parents' trip and so the rest of the surprise was in her hands. Fast forward to 2 days later. My parents had a 9hr flight to Oahu, and by the time they got to their hotel they were famished. They entered their room that had a breathtaking view, and a little something something extra... A huge basket of goodies on the kitchen counter (see photo)!! It took them a minute to add 1 + 1 and they called me squealing with happiness because I saved them from the hassle of figuring out where to get food. The food held them over for about 3 days and everything was fresh and tastey! I put my trust in Diana to pick certain items like wine and cheese by giving her a general idea of what they liked, and she delivered above and beyond! Not to mention that infamous tuna poke salad that my mom still raves about!! All in all this experience was great for all parties involved and I will definitely be using this service for my own purposes when I go to Hawaii in May. Skip waiting in line folks, and get your vacation on!!

It seems to be well-run with sufficient resources, although they always need more drivers so they can reach out to more people. Their meals on wheels program is for the whole island of O'ahu, and my route is focused on Waipahu. They have some baked goods and cookies for sale at supermarkets, at least at Don Quijote Waipahu. Their chocolate nut crispy cookies are really delicious! I can't say anything about the taste of the meals; but from what I saw, the meals seem balanced as they come with a frozen entree, milk, banana, orange, fruit cups, bread, etc. Some meals can accommodate special dietary needs like chopped, no pasta, etc. I wish everyone can afford food and have the capability to get food themselves, but unfortunately this is not the reality and am glad there's an organization who helps people become more independent and also provides some relief to the caregivers. Besides serving meals, they also hire people with disabilities. Sometimes we just need a helping hand to get things started. Blessings to everyone!
