Just really disappointed. It was running a little late and other GNCs were about to close at 7, but I noticed Google said this GNC was open til 8. I got here and parked right outside at just about 7, and the lights were dimmed and the door was closed and locked. There was no sign on the door about any sort of emergency closure or anything for the day, and in fact there was a young employee who was still in there and I know he saw me and he quickly scurried into the back probably to not have to reopen and help me out. I even called the store directly while I was standing outside to see if he'd answer the phone and he just let it ring. I get it Google store hours can sometimes be wrong due to lack of update but even the physical store hour sign says 8pm. And it's not like I showed up 5 minutes before closed, I was there a whole hour before posted closing. It was a waste of my time and gas money to have to deal with this, and I just want the owner of this shop to be aware of employees potentially taking advantage by closing up shop before they should. I was looking to spend about $150 this trip and that's a sale that just doesn't happen when employees don't open the door for customers despite the posted hours. read more

This review is actually for an online order that came through this store. I considered ordering online and then picking up, but saw that they offer same-day delivery. I opted for that and then realized since I ordered after the cutoff time, it wouldn't arrive until the next day. I still had to pay $12.00 extra. Not a big deal. The next day rolls around and the shipping was not updated and there was absolutely no indication of what time this order would arrive. Every other shipping method available either updates on a regular basis or gives you an estimated time of arrival. It was already after 6pm the following day that I placed the order, and I had received nothing. GNC online assistance had gone home for the day, so I had to open a support ticket to request that I receive my shipping cost back. Then, a little after 7pm...some poor, part-time delivery person calls me trying to find my house. I guide her to my door and finally, I have received it. An email comes to me from GNC customer care the next morning claiming that since the order was placed after noon, it is completely up to the company SHIPT as to what time they will deliver it. SHIPT is a cut-rate company that hires people to deliver things as a second job. Not that the people hired try to do a bad job but, they aren't trained or prepared for this line of work and it's more like paying a neighbor to run an errand for you. The fact that GNC wants to pretend like they offer good shipping options and then completely blame it on the other company when it goes badly shows how much they care. From now on, I will be buying protein powder or whatever else I need, direct. I try to buy local when possible but, I won't support a company that does a piss-poor job like this and tries to blame it on someone else. Take some responsibility, GNC. read more

For the longest time I think I've mistaken these stores for GBC. Hey don't blame me, 2/3 of the name are the same with the same beginning and ending. I wasn't dragged into this store. There are so many things, then again I could be overwhelmed at seeing their inventory closely for the first time. How does one know what they need aside from asking a worker? I just followed Charles around as he browsed different protein shakes, powder or pills he was looking for. Ha-ha. I found some boxing gloves towards the back though he didn't want to be my punching bag. Sad face. I noticed that some had different flavors. Lesson to learn here...... When asking advice with sales associates, look for the most muscular guy, ask him 100 questions to validate his knowledge and ask another buff associate the same question and weigh their answers!! This location has very friendly sales people and some what very knowledgable. However, the one that stood out was a guy named Chad! He was able to find me EXACTLY the product I had been searching for. He succeeded where the others failed. Not only that, he also was a pleuthera of knowledge when it came to muscle building, fat loss etc. I left here feeling confident that I got good advice. read more

READER WARNING IS ADVISED -This is a LOOONNG Review- (short story status) Place Title Here: SAM DA MAN!! So I've shopped at several different nutrition shops, from vitamin world, vitamin shoppe, and of course GNC. Through all of those experiences while shopping there there were some positives and negatives, what i mean is that, at some of those stores the workers had either A) Had no knowledge of what there talking about B) If they didn't knew what they were talking about they would lead you to buying the most expensive one, assuming that they are obviously the best due to there price C)They were not personable meaning they make the whole experience intimidating, for example your explaining your fitness goals and they just jump to the product that they want you to buy and not even explaining how it will help you. Now you may have heard from your friends or others that GNC is a rip off and they overprice there products. Tell them so what? you gotta pay to play right, and on top of that anything nutrition based isn't cheap, ever store is expensive no matter where you go. In addition you pay for the quality of the product, i mean come on you are buying products that you will consume, and will have an effect on your body. /end rant. hah Now on to the real review, so I've been to various GNC locations, from Kalihi, Salt lake side, and Kahala. Again positive and negative to each of them, all friendly, willing to help and very personable, but the reason I'm righting this review is for this specific GNC location. Due to an employee named: SAM! Before having great advice from Sam the only things i would buy from any vitamin shop was protein, Whey protein that is. It's because like any other consumer out there i wasn't aware of a few things, i would have friends and colleagues tell me certain things, but i knew that those things would work for them but i wasn't sure it would for me. Which is true somethings don't always work for certain people even though it worked on them in addition i wasn't going to spend big money for trail and error purposes. Sam is a very personable person, he is nice and he is willing to help you with any of your fitness goals, from what supplements/vitamins to take that will benefit you, to what you should do in addition to what you are taking. In a way i could say he is like a fitness coach, from the dietary side to the physical side as well. He is very relatable and he really knows a lot of his stuff. All i can say is no be shame or be intimidated, we all have goals to achieve all it takes is a little help and guidance right, so just explain to him your fitness goals, and he will help you out. Also the more you keep coming back and once you establish that worker/customer relationship, you can change up a few things to your current lifestyle once you achieve your first goal, and move on to the next step. Sam is an excellent worker. Awesome guy, This location is great its always clean, a lot of selections. and i'll definitely come back over and over again. if it weren't for GNC having a store in the Ala Moana Center, i don't know if i would have enjoyed my trip to Honolulu. since my little was sick with a fever and runny nose, and i had been eating tons of greasy deliciousness and not had enough rest through the flight, i was feeling pretty crappy. sore throat was coming on, and that fuzzy feeling where you just want to be in bed. i quickly researched vitamin stores for Vitamin C, coconut oil and Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)... to my rescue, GNC had all these supplements. they had several other natural remedies in stock as well. the staff was very friendly and so willing to assist me, on my three visits here. plenty of samples to try! great spot for your health needs when you're on the island. read more

The Ala Moana location is fine as far as GNC goes. In my experience they are over priced, the staff are hit or miss as far as supplements go (most supplements are way over played) and they sell based on their bonus program generally. If I run out of something I want and don't want to wait for shipping, ill go here, but in general I avoid it. read more

One day I stopped by just cruising around the mall. I figure I try looking for a supplement to maintain, improve, and balance my active lifestyle. The staff and customer service is excellent. I met one of the workers, David, who showed me the way. He is very knowledgeable of the products and suggested a good supplement for me (Amplified Mass XXX). He is super easy to talk to talking story and what not. I suggest you see him if you have questions or need help. He even gave me some samples of their new product. It was a great customer service experience. I didn't know I would get such outstanding help from the store. The store itself is nice. There's a ton of food products and supplements all around the store in every shelf and every corner. I signed up for their Gold car membership to get hooked up on other stuff in the future. I think I have a slight GNC additction. I'm always at the Kahala one buying my protein bars by the pack. I stopped by Ala Moana GNC cause i just finished a crazy personal training session with my trainer Bernice at UFC gym. This place is so much bigger and cleaner looking than Kahala. But i hate the bilinugal labeling cause sometimes I'm staring at a sign and I"m like "what section is this". They carry Royal Jelly! Anyone obsessed with Bruce Lee would be like, "wow that's cool". I'm thinking of buying it, but I'm kind of scared that I might get a allergic reaction so I'm gonna research more about it just in case. Anyways so i got my papaya enzyomes buy one get on free and my bars which are always some kind of discount. I think my ISS OH Yea bars were like 10 dollars or something. The manager told me that my gold card always gets me that 20% discount that the "mainland" GNC only get during the first week of the month. I don't know how true that is but my wallet was happy at all the money i saved. Anyways, so glad their isles are big so I don't have to worry about my gym bag taking out a whole isle of bars. The Ala Moana GNC has more selection than the Waikiki one. The associates are very friendly and sociable. They also can speak multiple languages, which is cool to listen to. yelp 365 challenge #87/365 as we all know... i do my fair share of drinking... and after a few months i feel like i should treat my body to a detox... gnc whole body cleanse is the one i turn to :) went today and felt like i had to write a review... it was about 15 mins. before closing and usually sales people (just like servers) are just hoping that no stranglers come in and stay... but these sales consultants were helpful! james (i think?) was the one who helped me... as he was ringing me up he inquired if i had a gnc card and i told him that i did, but that i was pretty sure it expired... he said, "well it doesn't hurt to check..." so i gave him my info and low and behold! it doesn't expire til jan '13!! i got like $18 off!! now most sales people would've just said "whatever, less work for me" but he went the extra mile which gets a gold star in my book! :D read more

Will never visit this location again. Staff doesn't know anything and wasn't very helpful. I'm a Gold Card Member and they insisted I had to buy something before they could give me a sample. So it would be better for me to buy it and then return it opened instead of just a small sample? I buy things from the Pearlridge store all the time and I just so happened to be at Ala Moana and they said I have to "buy something first" before I get a sample of anything. Maybe I should have bought something and used it for a week then returned it and demanded a refund, would that be better than protecting a sample to try out first? GNC has the best selection of quality health and fitness products and the store is superbly organized and neat. The employees are extremely knowledgeable and very courteous. It helps that the workers actually use the products and can speak from first hand knowledge about what they are selling. I research a lot of products and if a product interests me I can always find that product at GNC and the prices are pretty competitive compared with products found elsewhere. I was roaming the mall and saw that a new GNC kiosk has opened by longs and banana republic. Apparently they have deals and discounts that aren't offered at other GNC stores. With all the construction going on in the mall I decided to make my purchase here and get out of the mall ASAP. They even gave me an additional $10 off! 10/22/12 went In the to get some oxyelites,it was on sale so I decided to get two and the cashier told me if I got a gold card it would give me another ten dollar discount so I decided to get one. I gave him my card swiped it ,it didnt work as debt then he asked his coworkers if there servers are still down. He asked if I wanted to charge it ad credit instead so I said OK, it rang up the second time after that I went to work and checked my online banking and found out he charged me twice the price of 94.21,I was shocked I callied asking for Dae the cashier that rang me up telling What happened. He told me to come to the store and that he would give me my refurefund. I had to clock out of work just to go back there. When I got the to see him he called his manager over to tell him What happened and asked him What he should do, the manager told me theres nothing They could do and that I had to go to the back to file a dispute. I'm still waiting to get my money back and I feel like I've been robbed by them and They didn't help at all. That was my first gnc experience ever and it will be my last. read more

I usually go to the GNC at Pearlridge because of their awesome service. I only come to this one if I'm in the area and need to pick up some protein or something. Not too fond of this location mainly because of the service. They have what I'm looking for all the time but I just don't get the same service as I do at the other GNC. The workers here just say hi and that's it. If I have a question they give me the generic answer and then try and push another product on me that's more expensive and I hate that. I've learned that if they don't ask you first what kind of workout you're doing or how you think your body reacts to things then they don't really care about you, they just care about the sale. This store has a great selection of products and some good sales. They always have what I need, and I seem to usually manage to find a couple of things I didn't know I needed. Unfortunately, I had to stop going to the Ala Moana location due to their unhelpful staff. The last four times I went in there, nobody could even look up to say hello. Working in the retail sector myself, this is a huge pet peeve for me. I would never let a customer come in without being greeted! When I ask for help, they are just plain disinterested. I may be a chubby middle-aged woman, but I still deserve the same service they give to the body-builder types that come into their store. Very disappointing! read more
